  1. This story reminds me of one of my creatures. (WARNING! This story will turn to be a story of my whole snow tribe!) Her name was Clawite (Claw+white). She lived at the time of the mountain update. She had yellow fur mixed with white fur, poison fangs, one claw and one runner leg. Her whole life she seached for a mate, but immunity was never on her side. She had two days of life left, when she found her true love. I think his name was Kuvan. Kuvan was a yellow male with stripes and poison fangs. They had two beautiful twin boys called Kuwite and Clavan. She got to spend one day with them before passing away. Her sons were send with a group to look for a snow island. Raven, the melanistic son of Tata was in the group. (I found Tata as a baby and if you watch Seri, you know that you should never rename a creature named Tata). One of the twins got damaged and almost the whole group died. When they got to the snowy island, only the twins and a female with poison fangs were alive. Luckily they didn't have to worry about food, because I had 1000+ food. They bred before both of the boys passed away. Then my females (she and her daughters) started beeding with all males available, witch meant rogue males and a spits-nouted wanderer. My tribe ended up being mostly spit-snouted double no-paw creatures trying to hunt rabbils and walrush deer (big body+horns). I still had a good line as well. That line bred with my ice block nicheling who had megahorns. Then at 500+ food I moved best of them to a savannah island. Then our computer broke and I lost the save. The end. Also here are some pictures of them. I had a few screenshots of Tata, but I don't know if they died with our old computer...

  2. I know, no Multiplayer for Niche, it would take too much time to add it, but hear me out!!! I am not talking about a real multiplayer where you'd have to connect two computers one way or an other. I am talking about a hot seat multiplayer, basically running two packs/tribes in one game instance and switching between the two I sadly don't know anything about programming a game but I imagine this to be a lot less work than online or lan multiplayer, if this is still too much work then just ignore it -one would start at opposite sides of an island -recources like collected food and nest material are counted seperately -default gem colors might be different for both? example: P1's Nichelings are born with blue gems until changed and P2 gets orange as default. wanderes still green. -player 1 gets the first turn to move all his Nichelings, when he ends the day player 2 starts. next round player 2 starts and 1 ends ->that way noone would have the privilege to always harvest berrys before the other one has the chance -you can't breed with members of the other players pack or invite them in, similar like with the adams on homeisland ->exeption: if a banished member wanders around, he is free for the taking With this multiplayer mode, your creatures wouldn't only have to adapt to a static enviroment but also have to compete against an equally adaptable group and either search it's own niche next to it or fight for dominance over that niche Problems: -Island travel might be problematic and would either have to be impossible in that mode or maybe as soon as one travels, the other gets to pick the same number of Nichelings from whereever they stand at that moment -One could make a unnecessary move just to give that one nasty rouge a move to get to the other players female without them being able to do anything against it...might not be a problem but I'm not sure about that -I really don't know if this is as relatively simple as I think it is or if it would take lots and lots of time one could spend with 5 other features >_< ///Edit: I just thought about an explenation why the tribes would be active at different times and how about that gets linked to daytime? so one could pretend tribe 1 is dayactive and 2 is nocturnal, changing the light a bit but letting everything else be the same otherwise (and pretend rabbils are active all around the day). of course then the 12211221 rhythm I thought about would make no sense anymore, but if one always gets the days and the other the nights, then let the weather change and berry growth rythm be linked to that, counting for this purpose each players (or if you play both yourself, both tribes) turn as an entire day, but aging wise only day+night=1 for example, at the end of a sunny day, tribe 1 gets to sleep. as tribe 2 awakens for the night it starts to rain and the berrys grow back, they are thankful fot this, since the night before there was hardly any food to be found because of the drought

  4. Hello, I am Hudson, one of the squishiest squids around, and I love both Niche and Nimbatus. I tinker with coding and making games for my friends. Sadly, my tentacles make it hard. P.S. Forgot to mention that Bob Ross is my idol.

  5. This is Issi, a wanderer I found. Her gray fur mixed in with her blind eyes makes her one of my favorite creatures. Plus, poison fangs and big body are two of my favorite genes! This is Kois, another wanderer. I found her on a killer island and she was my first J immunity creature. Kois is now the goddess of growth and fertility within my tribe. This is Mero. I really love his pattern! This is Smoke, also known as "The Shadow Child".

  6. I for some reason think it would be really nice if you could occasionally find a ramfox pup and take it in after it's pack is dead. You would be able to breed with it and have it hunt food for you. The genes I think it would give will be listed below. -Ram horns -Fox ears (3+hearing, just for looks) -Normal eyesight -Fox jaw (1+strength, 2+smelling) -Fluffy body (3+cold resistence, 1+speed, 1+strength) -Hunting claws (1+speed, 1+strength) -Normal hindlegs -Fluffy tail -White fur -Black eyes -Gray or white horns -White pattern -No pattern -Random pattern density and size -Normal blood clotting -High or normal fertility -Some random immunity genes? Or possibly one unique to the ramfoxes known as ramfox immunity? Oh well. Just felt like putting this idea out here.

  7. a tech tree for the drill so that you could go faster and potentially drill through resources to collect them but with an increase in energy consumption.

  9. @Skysplash8 @Forest It's really weird that a savegame just disappears. One thing you absolutely need to do is to make sure that you have some free disk space, otherwise it will always have problems saving correctly. If it happens again, please search for the logfile and send it to us, so we can figure out what the problem was Here is how you can find the logfiles:

  12. I agree. A good rule of thumb with these types of games is, when you're looking for possible parts to add without going crazy is to take something that can already be made with a few simple parts, and turn it into a single part.

  14. When I start my tribe off, I have the starting creatures breed at least until there's children compatible with each other. If no wanderers arrive before the starting creatures are dead, i'll breed the compatible children together. Sometimes i'll do risky pairing just for the sake of the story, though I don't really mind having a few sickly nichelings around as long as I keep them away from the others. When moving to new islands with 10 spaces, I decide 5 nichelings and then mates for them. Often if there's some genes I want to keep, i'll decide to pick one to represent each of those genes. I'll write down the genes and write down the names of those that carry it, and then look at them in the family tree to decide who would be the best to go. Even when i'm not planning on going anywhere where these genes will be too useful, I often accidentally focus on breeding in the stinky tail and big ears because those are some of my favourite genes. Once I was preparing for a snow island and I realize too late that I accidentally bred in those genes.

  15. My idea for its appearance would look something like this: (sorry about any blurriness, for some reason my phone refused to focus unless I tilted it just the right way, and then give me only a second to take the picture) Also, the reason that the head is so short is due to the pictures of spitting cobra heads I found on Google.

  19. Oh I do this too sometimes! There's a lot of them that go out in the parking lot in front of my apartement complex and they all get squished by the cars so I try my best to save them from this.

  20. We will use this thread to post fresh screenshots, videos and gifs of the new features and things we are currently working on. Here a sneak peak of the new call I'm working on. It can be used while you are on top of a treestump and it has a chance to attract wild animals! The lower your population, the higher the chance

  21. So I had an idea that there could be a Firefly (AKA Lightning Bug) Body/Tail. It would be like the little lightbulb-like thing that fireflys have that they use to attract mates. It could: 1- Attract all creatures (at all times)(Rabbils, Wanderers, Rogue Males, Bearyenas, etc); 2- Simply give +1/+2 Attractiveness; or 3- It would act as a sort of mobile tree stump where the creature has a little button on itself (like purr snout does) that you click and it flashes the light, which then has the chance to attract a wanderer of the opposite sex (or it might work like Peacock tail where it only really works or males, though I'd prefer it to work on both genders). I don't know if it would be better as a tail or a body, but it might give +1 eyesight, since it glows so the creature would be able to see better, and if it was a body, then it could potentially give +1(+2,+3, whatever feels best) Flying if the creature has double wings. I might draw this on my tablet, and if I do, I'll post it in the comments. Let me know if you like this idea or not, and if you think it would be better as body or a tail

  22. Blocks that you could change their weight with a slider of sorts. They'd act like normal blocks (Except with maybe less health) except they can be heavier or lighter as you'd like.

  24. For a mining ship, it'd be nice to be able to have a weapon that is specialized for safe use around ore; -damage, +digging, 0 damage to ore. That, plus the fact that it occupies an upgrade slot, should keep it a useful but very specialized upgrade.

  25. Dukduk's mom was a spitsnout with a dominant swimming tail with recessive peacock tail. No scorpion tail. His dad was a bearyena, as you can see from most of his genes. Dukduk's mom had good eyesight in her genetic mutation slots because she had bad eyesight. I don't even have scorpion tail unlocked. Dukduk was a precious mutant baby, taken away from me by a wild bearyena. RIP, glitch baby. You will be missed.

  26. Sometimes you don't want to activate a signal right away or you want it to keep going even after the key has been released by the user. Which, to my knowledge, isn't possible at the moment. For the first, I would suggest an optional input key for the current "impulse giver" And for the second I would suggest a new logic gate.

  34. The Alpha features a new mining system to gather two different resources. Those are needed to buy the upgrades from the techtree. 'Selling minerals' sounds interesting as possibility to convert one resource into the other. That should come at a cost that needs to be balanced. I like this idea! Crafting is probably also covered as the type of the weapon itself and three selectable upgrades can be freely chosen.

  38. I present to you- The Nostalgia challenge! 1. Spend atleast 10 hours in the nevest version of Niche. During this time you are not allowed to play or watch videos of any of the older versions of the game. 2. Change your game version to the oldest possible 3. Try to survive and realize how much better the game is now (exept I miss the old grapics and patterns)

  41. Yeah! i like the idea! And maybe with the only females or only males if your baby was born the opposite gender of that rule when the baby gets old enough to be banished its automatically banished.

  44. I'm making suggestions for new islands, so here's the first one: Forest -Lots of trees -Maybe a new animal, like a Squirrel for food -Probably a lot of wanderers, since there's so much food from all the nuts - Probably a lot of Bearyenas, searching for some lunch (which, again, seems to be crawling all over the place with all of these nuts!) -Food and Bearyenas kind of balance it out, maybe a Medium or Hard Island? Next Island idea is coming up in the next post!
