  2. Yes, I actually agree. I think it would be a good idea to test the things with, let's say 30 people first. They we could find the really bad bugs and resolve them so that they don't annoy anyone on the testing branch Also, these very early testers could be well educated to include version numbers, save files and .log files in their reports which would make fixing stuff a lot easier ^^ Hmm, we'll consider this for the next update maybe

  5. But not really. Guess I shouldn't chew so hard. Broke my jaw and my game. Context: The drone can open and close its "jaw", which not only determines whether or not the kinetic flame thrower will work, but also looks cool. It's also incredibly vulnerable to snapping under its own armored weight, hence the spring which provides additional support by spreading the upwards force across 2 points instead of only the motorized hinge. If the drone closes or opens its mouth too much, the hinge snaps and the drone loses its jaw. But the thing is that the drone does not implode across (and through!) the planet. At least, normally it doesn't.

  8. Hey so I know some of these pairings don’t seem biologically accurate but this is Niche and why not. I think some of these are better than others and don’t think they all would work but I think I’d be nice to at least propose it. Also, I would like to say that I am aware of the “one post per idea” rule, but I wasn’t sure if each entity counted as a different idea, and I didn’t want to bombard the forum with all of them. However, if you think I should separate them, I’ll happily do so. I was also sick of people suggesting hybrids through the same method as bearyenas so I made some original ones but the bearyena rule does apply to most of them if you don’t like the ideas I proposed. Finally, I wanted to explain the formatting a little bit. If you see “existing gene/existing gene”, it means both/all would work for the slot and can either be one or the other or both/all. If you see “existing gene/new gene”, it means that the existing gene is an alternative to the new gene. Since I made this in a very give or take way where if you don’t think the new gene is very good, the existing gene would be a good alternative. All patterns were also chosen based on entity texture and what may look similar on a Nicheling, such as stripes to look like a feather texture. So let me know what you think works and what doesn’t. Rabbil Obtained by: Breeding with a giant rabbil A giant rabbil spawns as a friend in an area with 3 burrows next to each other surrounded by 3-4 berry bushes and will collect from bushes (in grassland biome) Collecting berries from the bushes in the area results in the giant rabbil no longer being your friend Destroying bushes, attacking the giant rabbil, and/or other rabbils in the area and/or sight range of the giant rabbil results in the giant rabbil attacking you and compels other rabbils to attack you Normal rabbils attack with a strength of 1 every ⅓ times If the giant rabbil is killed for 10 food points, rabbils will stop attempting to attack your creatures and will despawn back into the burrows and will not respawn until the giant rabbil respawns A new giant rabbil spawns in 10 days if the area is left in the dark and all berry bushes in the area are fully grown (applies as well if giant rabbil dies of natural causes) All giant rabbils are male and move like any other rabbil unless being bred with where it will not move for the day until a successful breeding or the day passes over Giant Rabbil Stats: 5 sight 2 strength 2 speed 3 collecting Lifespan - 30 days Hybrid Genes: Normal snout Big ears/Rabbit ears - +4 hearing, +1 heat resistance Running leg/Collecting paws - +3 collecting (maybe +1 speed) Lean body/Small body - +1 heat resistance, +2 camo in tall grass, +1 stealth, +2 speed, can be picked up by birds as a teenager (adult size is equivalent to the size of a big bodied teenager) Medium tail/Berry tail - +1 collecting (original idea by @ChasingNyx )/Lean tail - +1 heat resistance Normal hind legs/Speedy hind legs - +3 speed, +1 swimming White fur No pattern Dodomingo Prerequisite: All current in-game dodomingos are female A male can be made that looks like the female or completely different (either a peacock flamingo mix (will be on another post) or how @Dingorok describes it) Some dodomingo ideas originally by @Dingorok here: Obtained by: Finding fertilized dodomingo eggs in a nest and raising them for yourself to breed with the offspring (if you take them while in a dodomingo’s sight range, it will attack you) (you can take them either for 10 food points or to raise them) Once eggs are laid, the dodomingo will leave the occupied nest in search for another nest Nests with eggs cannot be used by Nichelings If with male counterpart, they mate and the dodomingo will sit on a nest for 6 days before leaving behind eggs (dodomingo takes a 2-day break before breeding again) If without, the dodomingo will sit on a nest for 6 days before leaving behind eggs (1/50 chance of occurring every time it steps in a nest) OR Creating a nest for a (if with male, pregnant) dodomingo and maintaining it for 6 days before leaving behind eggs for you willingly Raising eggs requires a creature to take the eggs and spend a day without energy (the next day after taking the eggs). The hatched eggs will give you 1-3 baby dodomingos who will follow the creature that raised them until they are adults where they will just be more in the general area (anywhere from 4-5 tiles) of that creature. If a raised dodomingo is out of range, it will take the quickest route to get back into range no matter how far away. If/when the creature who raised the dodomingo(s) dies, the range becomes permanent to the spot where the creature died. All dodomingos would be female (unless a male counterpart was added, in that case it’s 50/50 and breeding with males would be similar to bearyenas (male dodomingos will not move for the day until a successful breeding or the day passes over)) and when successfully bred with would immediately go towards the closest nest regardless of range (a female dodomingo also will not move for the day until a successful breeding or the day passes over). After having a kid, the dodomingo will return to the range. Bonus: Dodomingos will leave behind unfertilized eggs that can be taken for 5 food points (if you take them while in a dodomingo’s sight range, it will attack you) (1/10 chance of occurring every time it steps in a nest) Once eggs are layed, the dodomingo will leave to occupied nest in search for another nest Nests with eggs cannot be used by Nichelings Stat change: 2 strength (Raised dodomingos have a longer lifespan of 25 days, they spend 3 days growing up) Hybrid Genes: Bird Beak/Dodomingo Beak - +1 smelling, + 3 alluring voice (attracts predators and prey, especially sound based ones, to the area used in a radius of 3 tiles) Medium ears/Bird ears - +4 hearing, +1 cold resistance OR hear more prey and/or roots (as if worms were there) Normal eyes/Sharp-sighted (or Bird) eyes - +3 sight OR +4 sight Wing/Velvet paw/Roosting wing - +1 cold resistance, +1 heat radiation Medium body/Feather body - (I don’t have any ideas for this one) Peacock tail Normal hindlegs/Bird hindlegs - +1 fishing, +1 strength, +1 speed Stripes pattern Bluebird Obtained by: Befriending a female bluebird A female bluebird is brown and slightly bigger than a male bluebird with yellow or black eyes A female bluebird spawns randomly and is befriended by either sacrificing a baby or leaving 15 pieces of meat for it to take (prioritizes taking food/children despite anything) Once befriended, a female bluebird will kill prey and collect meat that contributes to the food counter and will no longer take your babies. If you attack a male bluebird, you will lose the female bluebird’s trust, and she will no longer be befriended nor re-befriendable. Only creatures who can reach treetops can breed with the female bluebird and can call her over via the call creatures ability (while on treetops). She will then prioritize coming over once attempted to breed with will stay in place for the rest of the day. If successfully bred with, she will prioritize finding a nest will hover over it for the rest of the day. The next day, there will be an egg in the nest that you would require heating up (done by placing to Nichelings adjacent to it or by using heat radiation) overnight for the egg to hatch the next day. If heating up is not performed after 3 days, the egg will rot/die and will take up the nest/space for the next 3 days before despawning. Female bluebird stats: 1 speed 4 strength 5 sight Lifespan - 35 days Hybrid genes: Bird Beak/Strong beak - +1 cracking, +1 strength Medium ears/Bird ears - +4 hearing, +1 cold resistance OR hear more prey and/or roots (as if worms were there) Normal eyes/Sharp-sighted (or Bird) eyes - +3 sight OR +4 sight Wing Lean body/Feather body - (I don’t have any ideas for this one) Peacock tail Bearyena hindlegs/Bird hindlegs - +1 fishing, +1 strength, +1 speed (Discussion of bird hindlegs here: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/596-bird-hindlegs/) No pattern Crabbit Obtained by: Breeding with the elder crabbit The elder crabbit is a larger, bluer crabbit with bigger ears that spawns randomly alongside 1-3 other crabbits After 3 days out of water, it will appear dead and you will have a choice to either carry it (requires nimble fingers) or take it for 5 points if food. Taking it to the water will revive and tame it. If you do not touch the elder crabbit after 3 days, it will despawn. After being tamed, the elder crabbit will follow the creature that tames it exactly one tile behind. If it falls behind, it will take the shortest path to be right next to the creature no matter what. If the creature that tamed the elder crabbit dies before the elder crabbit, the elder crabbit will act like a regular crabbit (but will still be tamed and breedable). A tamed elder crabbit will also pick up any shells around it. Killing or attacking an elder crabbit and attempting to revive it will fail and make the elder crabbit disappear. All elder crabbits are male. Elder Crabbit Stats: 1 speed 3 sight Lifespan (Only in effect after taming) - 10 days Hybrid Genes: Medium ears/Rabbit ears - +4 hearing, +1 heat resistance Antennae/Crab Antennae - +2 smelling Gills Normal eyes/Eyestalks - +3 sight OR +2 sight Water body/Exoskeleton - +2 defense, underwater breathing (+1 heat resistance?) Claw/Pincers - +2 strength, +1 fishing, +1 cracking OR +2 strength, +1 fishing, +1 collecting Normal hind legs Swimming tail Red fur color Mask patten Arctic Ramfox Obtained by: Befriending an abandoned arctic ramfox Abandoned ramfoxes have a 1/10 (feel free to comment if this is too high or low, I haven’t encountered many arctic ramfoxes) chance of spawning with other arctic ramfoxes It will not be near the pack and will be in some other dark area, it will be slightly smaller, darker in color, and younger. It will not move as often as the pack would. It stays at least 2 tiles away from the rest of the pack. Requires 10 food to tame When tamed, the abandoned ramfox acts like a tamed bearyena yet tends to stay closer to other pack members. The ramfox can also inflict warming up as if it were another pack mate and will have a longer lifespan after being tamed of 20 days. The ramfox will now also hunt prey such as rabbils and will contribute to the food counter to prove it is useful to you. There is a 50/50 chance the abandoned ramfox is male or female. Breeding with a male is the same as a friendly bearyena. Breeding with a female will move towards the closest nest after a successful breeding and after a night on the nest, will give birth. Hybrid genes: Some gene names by @seahorsepie here: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/964-ramfox-hybrids/ Medium ears Ram horns Big nose Normal eyes Big body/Medium body/Snow body - +1 cold resistance, +2 speed Bearyena claws/Hunting claws - +1 speed, +1 attack Bearyena hindlegs Medium tail/Big tail - +2 cold resistance, -1 heat resistance Black/White fur color or just white fur color No pattern Hemophilia Walrus Deer Obtained by: Breeding with a walrus deer Keeping a walrus deer unharmed for 30 days makes it trust you. If you attack it after being befriended, it will no longer be befriended or re-befriendable. All walrus deer are male and attempting to breed with one will stop the movement of the walrus deer until the day passes, there is a successful breeding, or it is attacked. Hybrid Genes: Medium ears Antlers/Big Antlers - +1 strength, +1 attractiveness (both sexes or only males) OR +2 strength Normal snout/Sabertooth fangs/Tusks - +1 strength, +1 cracking Big body/Blubber - +3 cold resistance, +1 swimming Runner leg/Hooves - +1 speed, +1 cracking Normal hindlegs/Hooved hindlegs - +2 speed, +1 strength, +1 swimming Swimming tail Red/White fur Stripes pattern Apes Obtained by: Taming the ultimate ape The ultimate ape is a very rare entity that spawns in with another ape on a different area on the island. When it spawns in, it makes a very distinct sound. It is the best combination of the great apes; having excellent sight, hearing, and smell; and can only be found on the deep jungle island. It’s appearance is like a mixture between the three apes. The ultimate ape will spawn as a child and will become an untamable adult after 50 days. It is only tamable as a child and requires 100 food to tame which can be separated into 10s, 20s, and 50s at a cost (alternatively, have new menu pop up for how much to give to the ape). Separating food gifts wears off 1 food point a day and each feeding (regardless of amounts) takes one point of energy. When the ultimate ape becomes a “tamed” adult, you will have to provide it with 10 food points every 10 days. The ultimate ape starts off with 10 food points when it grows up. Each feeding of 10 points is one point of energy. Feeding does stack meaning feeding it 50 food points one day lasts for 50 days. There would be a bar or icon letting you know how much longer you have. Missing feeding the ultimate ape makes it feral and untamable. You can only breed with a tamed ultimate ape when it has the age of 150 days. The ultimate ape is neutral as a child, extremely aggressive as an adult, and neutral as an adult if it was tamed and is maintained. Letting the ultimate ape grow up without taming it would be one of the hardest, if not hardest, challenges in Niche. If any creature is ever caught on its radar, it will immediately target that creature. It can be distracted by other food resources and other apes for 2-3 days. It likes to move around to make it less predictable. If creatures have distasteful appearance, distasteful scent, and strong voice, it will not attack. All ultimate apes are male and act like friendly bearyenas but also collect fruit. OR Snatch a baby ape from ape nests found in jungle trees with winged creatures by standing directly underneath the tree. The ape will be one of the three apes and will take 25 days to grow. The feeding system works the same as the ultimate ape in order to maintain trust. If you fail to feed the ape, it will become feral and untamable. The ape has all the normal stats of its wild counterpart. Bonus: I could see there being two achievements for the ultimate ape Master of Beasts - Tamed an ultimate ape for life Master Hunter - Kill the ultimate ape Ultimate Ape Stats: 6 sight 6 smell 6 hearing 4 defense 5 strength 2 collecting 2 speed Immune to poison Drops 100 food points Lifespan - 250 days Hybrid Genes: Normal eyes/Blind eyes (Smelling and Hearing Apes)/Sharp-sighted (or Bird) eyes - +3 sight OR +4 sight Big ears/Giant ears - +5 hearing, +1 heat resistance (maybe disables horn gene) Big nose/Giant nose - +4 smelling/Ape Snout (Seeing and Hearing Apes) - +1 strength, distasteful appearance Toxic body/Big body/Armored body/Toxic Armor - +2 defense, +2 strength, distasteful appearance, poison resistance, disable fur color Bearyena claw/Ape arm - +1 strength, +1 collecting, +1 cracking, +1 climbing (climb up trees instead of flying) (maybe +2 speed and/or climbing ability if both paws) Normal hindlegs Medium tail Black fur color Spots pattern I also have an idea for balance bears, but I heard there are some new bears and wanted to see those before I made some genes for them so I'll probably make a post about them later. Anyways, thanks for reading this extremely long post!

  9. Apparently nobody has suggested this. Why raise water nichelings when water biomes are so BORING? there is not enough to explore down there. I feel like maybe these suggestions will make it a little more intresting? More fish: I know we have alot already, but it would be cool if we had fish for deep oceans and rivers. So here are my fish ideas! River fish: Salmon. Just an ordinary salmon that goes up stream and then dies. dead body kinda like the clown koi. Deep ocean: Bass. Litteraly a bass. Troop, A trout that swims in groups of 2/3 Tropical fish: Colorful fish that just swim around like a fish. Now sea plant life! Corals: Corals can come in colors of Purple, pink, red, orange, and yellow. Seaweed: It grows very tall and has tons of nesting material. Very common deep in the ocean. Squids: Little squid that ink you if you attack them. the inking takes away one turn for three days. they give 3 food. Pufferfish: They give 2 food and once attacked they puff out and deal one attack to surrounding nichelings. Bubble columns: They randomly start blowing at dig sites at least 5 tiles deep into the ocean. They launch your nicheling up into the air for about 1 second before they come back down. And yeah.. Thats it.

  10. First: Is it alright if I repost this suggestion over here? Original Thread These mixtures of ravens and parrots nest on a tree, in a small group of two to seven, with an average of three. Additionally, there might be up to two Parraven chicks in the group. Depending on your actions, a group of Parravens might be friendly, neutral, or hostile towards your pack. Normally, they are neutral, which means that they will tolerate your critters - at least if you don't get on their nerves. They will hunt for rabbits in a large area around the tree and sometimes snatch nesting material from built nests if nobody sits on them. They also attack predators sitting within two tiles from their tree. If you leave a baby unattended in this area (why would you do that?!), there is a chance that they might snatch it. If a critter stays directly beside their tree overnight, there is a small chance that they become hostile and attack it. There is a somewhat larger chance that they become hostile if you shake the tree and when you eat acorn. Sometimes there will be a hurt Parraven chick stranded near the tree. If you eat that, the Parravens will get hostile. A hostile Parraven group might attack anyone of your critters sitting in the above mentioned "predator zone", and snatch away your young if they sit unprotected in the preying zone. And theft of nesting material becomes more frequent. And they might lead predators toward your pack. (random raven nest picture to break up this wall of text. Source: http://www.featheredphotography.com/blog/) You can also help that stranded Parraven chick by licking its wounds and leading it back to the tree, giving a very high chance of making that Parraven group friendly. For a smaller chance at befriending them, you can leave food or nesting material beneath the tree. A friendly Parraven group will occasionally bring you food or nesting material. They will still steal from you, but not as often. They will also warn you when there is a predator approaching, and if it is in range of the tree and too close to your pack, they might even attack the predator. If one of your critters near the tree has leeches, they will eat that leech. But they still won't allow you to take any acorns. Shaking the tree might turn them neutral again. However, they now won't snatch your young at all! Each Parraven can only attack once per day, making little damage, but there are multiple of them and you can't attack them back. Quills work though. If climbing legs/paws are added, you would be able to catch them on their trees. Regardless of relationship, they will be less than tolerant towards the blue birds, resulting in a smaller risk of unattended babies being snatched by blue birds, if they are in the Parraven's preying zone. If the babies are directly beneath the tree, the blue birds will only very rarely dare to take them. Concept Art, by MysticTopaz. Thank you! Discussion on how the alert might work specifically Some more elaboration on how Parraven territories could work Colour variants by biome? (Concept Art) So, what do you think?

  12. While the male/female binary is rather common among mammals, Nichelings are not exactly mammals, right? Especially now that they could have amphibian, avian and even arthropoid features! Just like there is an mind-boggingly large number of lifeforms, there are dozens of ways sexes can work. There are fish that change sexes when there are not enough individuals of a certain sex, tapeworms that are male in young modules and female in older modules (or was it the other way around?), a wide range of hermaphroditic lifestyles, especially among plants and gastropods, and fungi with literally thousands of sexes. The diversity in sexes is ruefully underfeatured in Niche. (This moon wrasse is a protogynous sequential hermaphrodite. Image source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequential_hermaphroditism#/media/File:Thalassoma_lunare_1.jpg) So, I suggest a new gene slot for sexes, with these genes: Binary: As it is now. This individual can be either male or female its whole life. Sequential: This individual changes its sex at one point in their life. Perhaps the halfway point? Or a random point? Or due to external factors, such as hunger? For the devs to decide. Could be seperated into protandry (male at first), protogyny (female at first), and bidirectional (either). Parthenogenetic: Female only. Reproduces asexually, that is, produces clones of itself. Might work better as a rare fertility gene. Hermaphroditic: A new sex . Can reproduce with anyone, excluding infertile individuals. Can also impregnate itself, which is not recommended. Scientifically called "simultanous hermaphrodity", but that's a bit long. Trinary: Can be either male, female, or hermaphroditic, with the latter being rarer than the former two. Perhaps a 40:40:20 ratio? Gynomonoecious: Can be either female or hermaphroditic. Andromonoecious: Can be either male or hermaphroditic. So, what do you think?

  13. Hey there! Cool idea! I love the thought of a chameleon body! However, I'm not too much a can of the heat/cold thing; maybe it's just plain and simple camouflage and nothing else? Like how Toxic Body is plain and simple toxicity/poisonresistance and nothing else? I think they would be within the same vein of body type, y'know? Also may I make some fan art of this including being in the water and on the beach and in a tree? I think they'd have like a sky color when in a tree, dont'cha think?

  16. I like DreamShark's EMP-idea. Some kind of slow fireing EMP-cannons that can deactivate one or even some adjected gates for a few seconds. Maybe the enemies that can have an effect to the logic move fast (evade) and need some time to charge the weapon (time to react and kill) before they charge the drone to strike in some sort of melee and release the charged EMP. Just my imagination... Give the core an upgrade to resist EMP and/or reduce the time the module is not working.

  19. It would be cool for an option to not be able to see the genes, but it can be turned off from Settings. That way you can play a Blind Genetics Challenge and go to the Family Tree without accidentally seeing your creatures. And, when you decide to finish your challenge, you can turn off Blind Genetics and see all of those genes your creatures have been hiding all of this time

  25. The motorized hinge is bypassing the physics, by just forcing the attached parts to move even if they could not. To avoid this, we could add a hinge that rotates with a specific force and therefore stops rotating when the attached parts collide. However it would be a bit more complicated to set up as you need to configure the force of the motor yourself so that it works with different sizes of attached parts.

  28. Specific altitude selected in arbitrary units - distance from center. Key to increase set altitude, key to decrease it. Output if higher than, output if lower than, and tolerance to set a dead zone around your target altitude. This will let you create drones that try to hold an altitude, and can modify that altitude based on feedback, and enable some methodical behaviors, like carpet bombers and strip-miners.

  40. Hello! My username is cirrus-lux and I've been playing Niche for a while now - having discovered it from JessiMew's videos like @lunaticraccoon. I'm originally from South Africa but currently live in New Zealand and am in my final year of a Bachelor of Architectural Studies degree. I am 20 years old and own two dogs - both of whom I have attempted to create in Niche, but I really just love all dogs. Niche is one of my favourite games because I absolutely love how gene inheritance works, having played all the sim games previously this was a completely different way to experiment with genetics and I fell in love with Niche. It's lovely to meet you all within this wonderful community

  41. Hey folks We are currently working on Niche 1 day per week with 4 people. The game is currently profitable for us, even though it's not making a ton of money. I think money-wise this will stay about the same this and maybe even next year. As mentioned, we will do one more big update this year. I don't know about next year yet. It very much depends on how things go for us as a company. We'll keep you up to date!

  44. I love this idea too. Especially because I think it is immersive as well. Also I don't think it negates the function of the bluebird. Just because you can carry babies around doesn't mean you don't accidentally forget one (or with twins) maybe only a Nicheling with all three action points can carry a baby and if it does so it's movement speed is reduced (let's say the nicheling usually has a speed of 5 and then only a 3 or even 2 similar to how it works in WolfQuest where your stamina drains faster when you carry a pup). I think that would make it more balanced. Not to say that a kangaroo body wouldn't be cool as well

When he was born, he was surrounded by Mammut foot, armored bodied, Hammer tailed, Saber Tooth Fanged/Digging Trunked Nichelings. Theu were celebrating for the birth of the son of the two alphas, Like confetti, they threw leaves and dodomingo feather on top of the baby, making him messy. He had all of the pre-historic genes, including his bulky saber tooth fangs. As days were passing by, he grew stronger and stronger. Until he got his first gem. He started playing around with the other royal young nichelings in the snow, and throwing snowballs at them. Many weeks later, he became a handsome teen with those antlers. In hopes of finding a future mate, He started to show his antlers and fangs to his fellow cousins, but they were creeped out and left. He really bad wanted to have a royal mate, not some crazy beta or omega. Until one day, he spotted a his age collecting some food. She was a beautifl Melanistic creature, with big body, poison fangs, and a pair of ram horns and claws. Her name was Minnaka. So he offered her a few acorns and berries to join the tribe. As soon as she saw him and the food, she agreed. Everyday they got closer and closer. Until the day they both became adults! Now with his new mate, he realised, maybe omegas and beta creatures aren't that bad... So, after a few months, it was breeding season. He and his mate are preparing for their future. Brienno was nervous that his baby might be bullied or something...But then, both bred! Many years passed, and many sons and daughters were born. After his last son was born, both of them passed away peacefully under the same place they met, as everybody witnessed with sorrow. The end.

  47. First thing I want to say is I literally got this game three days before starting this post. So, I haven't gotten very far, even with my 16 hours of playtime. I haven't looked at let's plays or the like, trying to teach myself as much of the game as I could, and the tutorial provided. Essentially I learned how to do things and develop a semi-decent strategy that works for the first 50 days. Anyways, this is a suggestion list of mine, so... yea. 1 - Expanded / Expandable Family Tree. On a personal level, I don't like how nichelings are taken off the family tree when their direct heritage is discontinued. I wouldn't mind if, on one of the further islands, I can take a moment, pull up the family tree, and scroll all the way back to the roots, look through everyone again to reminisce about when I didn't get them all killed, and continue with newfound motivation. To further this, maybe allow an option for the 'game over' screen to include a family tree? So that I can really feel bad about not having them survive. 2 - "Workshop" Support Alright, listen, I know that modding support was a no-go. For now, anyways. But, I had this idea one time, where, maybe, players could get the option to 'create' their own island- like the level editor in the Civilization 5 SDK- where players could input their own starting genes, available genes from wanderers, design the full island themselves- and the other islands it can lead to, maybe even have a type of story they can write for the level. Then, they submit their level creation to the workshop, and people get to play these 'challenges' that other players created, like that. Even if this is undertaken I won't expect it soon, but it's nice to dream, right? 3 - "Multiplayer" / Challenge Mode? Likewise to the modding support, I read that multiplayer was a pretty far-fetched idea for this game. While it would be really cool to have a massive island with multiple players guiding their own tribes, that's a game that will probably take longer than most civilization games. Not to mention be incredibly demanding with the size that the island would need to be to make sure the tribes start out fairly. So instead, a 'multiplayer' idea would be using my previous suggestion of the custom islands and levels, or maybe just harshly randomized levels, and a high-score like feature. These challenges could be set in stone, or change on a certain basis, such as one week, having a challenge for all players on a new snow-based island, and the high score would be based on how many days they survive, or something. Nifty little feature that gets us a step closer to multiplayer, without needing all the extra development that would go with real-time multiplayer. That's all I have for now, I think. If I get any more ideas, I'll edit this post. See yaaaaa !
