A new body gene that would implement symbiotic relationships with other organisms.( Inspired by the relationship between sloths and algae) There are two variations: (I will talk about the second one in another post) The first one is a really hairy body with pointy hairs. These nichelings have a relationship with small creeping algae like plants that grow on their back. They have no plants on them when they are babies, but it starts growing on them once they have 2 gems and start fruiting once they have 3 gems. These nichelings essentially become walking berry bushes, and other creatures can gather the berries from them. They also attract berry eating creatures. Their symbiotic plant works like a berry bush and it can be replenished by standing in water, but the berries dont grow if the water is too deep and they grow slower if their host is unhealthy. Nichelings with this body can hold up to 5 berries. Edit: This could be perfect for savannah and mountain islands, but it does not give any climate resistance.2 points

Yes @Murkusfast and @z0mbiesrock. We haven't thought about people re-entering old gifs, but fitting the topic was indeed reason why we hadto choose one gif over the other in topic-based contests. And since this one now is open for everything, you are free to enter what ever you want. So please you two, feel free to enter your old gifs for the last contest, if you think they are great (which they are!), but of course we hope that you will surprise us with even more creative creations Looking forward to what you're creating next ❤️2 points

I thought it'd be cool that if you have low fertility your nichelings can have miscarriages. Maybe you could also have miscarriages with immunity issues as well like how in real life incest can lead to miscarriages. Although I'm thinking it should be a rare occurrence, as to not annoy some players. Please don't forget to upvote this if you like the idea, I'm pretty new to the community.1 point

So I think it would be a neat idea to have your starting couples children to select a mate and veer off in a seperate tribe! Im not 100% sure but maybe like a max of four seperate tribes the person could switch controls of. When you are on one tribe you cant control the actions of the other and they will make one move for each one of yours maybe?? Not sure if you should be able to switch to the other tribes all in the same day? I just think it would be a great way for rival males and storytelling. It might also be neat if you could set requirments for each tribe like in order to be apart of tribe one you must have the cracker jaw and in order to be apart of tribe two you must have Lean Body etc etc. maybe instead of having children leave (still have that as an option though maybe)... you could port another family tribe from one of your other save slots to the same island where they can encounter each other and you can switch back and forth between them, so say you have been playing adams family for 500 days and you have another tribe started from a random starter pair that youve had for 20 days you can have them all meet up, maybe scuffle, maybe pick mates from the opposing tribes, and have a option to mark your territory border so that way the other tribe doesnt cross it etc. One of my favorite Niche Challanges is the Warrior Cats Challange so thats kinda where the idea came from.1 point

maybe just get rid of the bright red and yellow and put in a coppery orange in instead? I think these two colors (and how they interact with others) are the only problem the colorsysthem might have right now but if there were a coppery orange fur gene (like a red fox or tiger) instead, that could lead in combination with beige to a (not as mustardy) dirty blonde yellow and together with the reddish-brown to a matted red we would have still all colors but yellow and red would then be more muted, okay then there still would be the chance of the darker pink by reddish-brown + white but it would be a lot less likely anyways and no more bright pink1 point

I dont know if its a bug, but rabbils just dont care about the nichelings trying to eat them! Aren't they supposed to flee?1 point

In one of my very cruel tribes, which also happens to be my most succesful tribe, they kill all wanderers, including babies. One creature was attempting to kill a one gemmed wanderer had failed, it did not die in one hit unlike babies in the tribe do. Not sure if this bug happens in older versions but when I saw it happen, I was in 1.1.3.1 point

The not effected by meat eating plants things is actually a bug I noted it.1 point

@Feisty No, it's something we did wrong in not including this specific combination of genes as a possible solution There are various genetic combinations to look like a racoon, but we only allowed a few of them to actually unlock the achivement. We'll fix it.1 point

If you use a steam machine, steam will run in the big picture mode. To change to the release_preview version you have to do this: Click on Manage Game right under the Niche Logo and then click on Select Beta Button and select the release preview branch. When it says missing executable, you should probably reinstall the game as something went wrong.1 point

This is definitely not a indicator for who's going to win the competition. Not everyone has time to be on the forum and check the threads regularly. When the deadline for the contest is over, each jury member watches each GIF and votes, and then we will discuss&pick the winners.1 point

You can switch out save files to make more than 5 saves. You can find save files by following steps here: And then make another folder somewhere else to copy and paste them into. Now you can safely delete the save file in-game to make a new game. If you want to import your old save file back in, you have to delete the current save file that is in the same location where that save is (for example, I have to delete the top save file to import something that was created on the top save file) and copy and paste your old save file into the folder you find through the link above.1 point

This is a replica of the "Welcome to Planet Urf" League of Legends login screen, which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYIiy03eGE0 The lore of Urf http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Urf and Zoe https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_PH/story/champion/zoe/ might be required to understand the story After Urf died by the hands of Warwick, he was sent to a place between dimensions, where he was destined to stay forever as a shadow of his former self. However, Urf would not accept such a fate. He trained his mind and imagination - as there was nothing physical in this realm - until by chance the wandering aspect of Mischief, Zoe, found him. Zoe admired his determination and for the first time decided to do something that wan't for her own amusement. She granted him a single wish. Urf thought about it for a long time and finally decided on this: "I wish to be an inspiration to people, I wish to rise, to make others rise, to grow, so others can as well. I wish for the ability to help anyone, wherever possible as long as they deserver that help." And for making such a compassionate wish Zoe shared a part of her power with Urf. Urf became an aspect: The Awesome Buffer of Awesomely Awesomeness. He traveled through the multiverse and helped many, who deserved it and some who didn't, until he found Earth. There, he saw a team of dedicated programmers, who were working on a game called Nimbatus, and he decided to help them. He recreated his homeworld, Planet Urf, to show the team how great their game was, and what potential it held, so they would be inspired to grow the game further. This is the story of Urf. May he continue to help those in need in the future. Wow, that is longer than I expected it to be. If you made it until here, thank you for reading!1 point

maybe a clicker loading screen where for example you have to pick berries off an infinite pile or attack the bearyena, or maybe even run, swim or fly, and it displays your score(hits, berries or times moved) on the lower right corner1 point

I much prefer the new version for patterns and coloration, but an option to toggle older ones would be cool.1 point

Is that actually a thing? Stealthy wanderers are harder to detect? I'll definitely check next time. When Eve had no smelling/ hearing silouhette she had medium body and maybe one velvet paw. I only took one picture and that without genes. Though I did encounter a baby with lean body that I couldn't smell either. So I guess it could be1 point

Oh ok that makes a lot more sense. Yeah I agree on that part considering they can age, and are affected by other hazards (like enemies, or coconuts), it is weird they aren't affected by the meat eating plants. The idea of the wanderer's starving might also be hard to implement because that may require having seperate food counts implemented for each wanderer who has spawned or creature banished from the pack, which might be a bit too much overhead. But I do see why you would want that.1 point

Same thing happened just today when I loaded up a previous savefile to see what changes were made to the new genes (now my only male with active peacock tail just looks gorgeous!), and as I played, I got some messages saying that i had unlocked new genes. When I first loaded it up, I had 2 of them, one of which would be for wings, but I have no idea what the other one would be. 2 more notifications showed up later on (not at the same time), one of which I'm not sure if it was a bug because I had just cracked open a coconut and I can't remember if I had already unlocked cracker jaw or not (it showed as unlocked).1 point

Hello Everyone, My name is DeathBySuburban, Death for short. I'm a gamer and aspiring YouTuber, from SouthEast Texas. I built my current computer only 2 years ago, and have upgraded it many times since. I'm fascinated by all aspects of computers, although I do wish I knew as much about programing (of any kind) as I do about hardware. I saw Lathrix playing Nimbatus, and instantly went and downloaded the demo. I've been hooked every since, and really hoping to get access to the Closed Alpha!!! 🤤 Also my favorite Anime is Bleach (Yes, I know it's cliché, but I like it) and my favorite character on Bleach is Kenpachi Zaraki (Shocking right? I know you where expecting Ichigo Kurosaki, wern't you?)1 point

I like this, but I think stagmoles but no rabbils makes more sense since you are both underground and in the dark, and rabbils are more of a plains/forest animal. I would be weirded out if I walked into a cave and saw a bunch of rabbits hopping around, while I wouldn't be surprised to see a mole. I think the glowing mushrooms would be the main source of light for unfit nichelings. No matter how long you sit in the dark, your eyes will only adjust so much if you don't have nightvision of some sort. The glowing mushrooms would light up some parts of the cave and allow you to easily see, while other unlit parts would be completely dark and not visible unless the nicheling can see in the dark. I think this idea would work well with some sort of glow gene too.1 point
-
I really like this idea. We could even add a new gene for night vision with which our creatures would be better at seeing in caves always (maybe shown by more lit up tiles) but in the overworld they would be really bad at seeing (like short sightedness). Why wouldn't we find moles since they live under the earth?1 point

We will first release the game for Windows, Mac and Linux on Steam. We might consider releasing on consoles of the game sells well on steam We will focus on single player with asynchronous multiplayer first.1 point
