I remember when I had my first snow tribe and I named every single walrusdeer in order to keep track of which ones were still alive. If you watched Seri's jungle tribe, you might remember Not good. I miss that. I think that the ability to rename should be added back in for all wandering entities with the info window, exept wandering nichelings.5 points

The only time creatures make different noises (like what you hear when you click on them, when they get hurt, the new 'call for mate' ability etc.) is dependent on if they are a baby or an adult. You can have two extremely different looking creatures and they will sound exactly the same. This feature wouldn't be meant to affect gameplay, it would just be a nice little detail. For instance, it would make sense for a big-bodied creature to have a 'deeper' voice than a normal-bodied creature just because of their size difference. The easiest way to implement this would be to just have it based off of the body types since that could only change the pitch of the creature's voice. Having different sounds for different head types would be neat too but I could see it being more work. It would be funny if spit/derp snouts had a silly voice to match their face, or if beaks sounded more bird-like and purr snouts made more meow-like sounds.5 points

just as the title suggests I think being able to customize the beginning island would help new players (or old) to get a tribe ready for its surroundings3 points

Some planets could have some sort of "status pad" on part of their surface. It would either heat or cool the air above it. It would be pretty large, and wouldn't be able to support biological hives and such on it, as it appears to be made of metal. I attached an image with some very crudely drawn concept art. (I drew it.)3 points

maybe it can only work when there is a pregnant female next to him and then he could build a nest3 points

It would be nice to have more weather types in Niche, not only for immersion but for gameplay as well. The new antenna gene would also benefit from this change by having more weather to sense. I have compiled a list of possible new weather types below. Fog sight reduced by -2 white fur increases camouflage by +2 Thunderstorm all animals have a chance to be struck by lightning lightning has a chance to start a wildfire Hail all animals have a chance to be stunned animals are protected by taking shelter Suggestions on how these new weather types could be improved are welcome.2 points

So I was thinking that it would be nice if male nichelings could build nests, not just the females. Rather than the nest appearing on the same tile the nicheling is standing on I imagine it would appear on the tile beside them. There are some bird species where the male will build a nest or multiple to attract a mate, so why not nichelings as well. Other than providing a nest for your own tribe members to have their babies, it would also increase the chances of a female wander appearing, maybe a 65% chance of a female wanderer? I think this would help if you were running low on females and were having difficulty finding a tree stump to call from. It would also be nice from a story telling perspective for your males to try and impress females with more than just gathering food, showing that they're very good at providing, in my opinion anyways. I'm not sure if this would be too much work but thank you for considering my idea2 points

Maybe when you make a tribe on niche you could choose to start with 2 or a pack of 10/5. i made a challenge a long time ago which i would divide a tribe of 10 and have one side explore and be strong while the other ones would stay back, and be more chill and peaceful. but the real challenge is trying to get a tribe of 10 and trying to find creatures that can breed and not be inbred. this idea would make more variety and make challenges like that alot easier. just note this is an idea2 points

@lack_ofabettername: @OmegaDeltaZero is posting GIFs outside the competition here, if I get that correctly. He already won a key in the last contest.2 points

I would love to be able to name Nichelings through the info window again. It would be so much easier if you play with a no genetics challenge or just rename your creatures all the time like with the warrior cats challenge2 points

wait lilytuft, remember beast?, also I found something called Bob the Crippled Horny male2 points

I like the idea! I had a similar idea on this discussion too. Maybe it could work with yours as well.2 points

Maybe you could have the option to add more nichelings to start with: the max depending on what island you start on. Like this could be part of the custom options for sandbox mode suggested here:2 points

It would be more realistic, if a creature could actually get a crippled paw in battle or a scar that gives them a distasteful appereance, perhaps even loose an eye. The chance could be higher if much damage is dealt at one time. That would make the whole thing more interesting and you would have to be more careful.1 point

NOTE: just an idea so in niche one of the basics is to not inbreed, and if you do the baby could has blind eyes or be sick. but what if a baby could be born with a missing limb, a little stub where a front leg would be. it doesnt have any abillities, all it does is block you from having another paw for more abilities. tell me if theres any flaws.1 point

I had two occassions now where the genes of the first generation showed really nicely in the third gen, while the second one looked different. I really love this especially for story purposes because it's just cute when the children look almost exactly like their grandpa. Thought I'd share the screenshots here for other people to enjoy as well The names change a little with the second family but they are the same creatures (Kurovan became Russetpaw after his grandpa and Gorseclaw Gorsestar (yes yes warriors challenge ^^)1 point

Maybe we could have an option to register the progress we make with that tribe, i imagine that filmig the whole gameplay for watching later would take a lot of memory, disk space that some people dont have.1 point

another thing, paradise was first suggested back in 2017, November 3rd. Your volcano was posted in May. This is just a better edit of my original suggestion.1 point

Islands usually have plenty of trees, so I think this would only be a problem for larger tribes. Unfortunately, there is nothing else to use for shelter. Hail does have an advantage, however, and that is that it would have a chance to affect other animals and not just your own, leading to some interesting situations.1 point

Due to the creation of this post since you would have multiple allies: As well as having multiple friendly bearyenas at the same time, I would like to propose giving gems to friendly bearyenas (and any other allies like the ones described in the suggestion above). You would be able to change them just like your own creatures as well to keep track of all of your bearyenas. You could also change the name of your friendly bearyenas as they could appear in the family tree just like any other creature. Somewhat related, I think having wanderers not have gems before you invite them would be great. I think that gems could be seen as a symbol of being apart of the tribe and since wanderers don't follow the 3 energy rule, it would make sense for them not to have gems. They would look like the nichelings you can create with the nicheling explorer you can find here: http://niche-game.com/nicheling-explorer/1 point

Hello! I just joined yesterday so I could contribute the the Niche Feature Requests. I write fanfic for Warrior Cats, and as you can see, my favorite warrior cat is Pebbleheart. I am also a Niche player, which I love very much. I also love reading my Webtoons! I listen to Warrior Cats fan-made music by Blexemi, and that's also how I found out about Niche!1 point

I really want to see this in future updates! Especially since I've always loved the look of aquatic nichelings and would love more for them to do. Upvoted!1 point

I love that idea! I think it would really help bring the nichelings to life even more and add to the overall charm of the game. Maybe a nicheling's tail could swish side to side occasionally, I think that would be cute to see1 point

It would be cool if there was an option to choose how much food your creatures eat every day. It would be best if this was a toggle-able thing that you can do in-game, that way if you have a bunch of food and you want it to be more of a challenge, you could make it where each Nicheling eats 2 food a day instead of 1. I imagine it to be a little bar that would go 1----2----3----4----5----etc. with a little thing that you can move to whichever number you want, which wold be how much food a creature eats when the day passes.1 point

Hmm, along the lines of buffing the swimming tail, maybe it could give you a reduction for building nests as a nod to beavers being good at building dams. You would only need to use 5 nesting material, or the nests could last longer, and males could build nests too. Or maybe simply just adding heat resistance could work too.1 point

I think you have a point @Snowy Owl. Maybe we should make Tail Fin harded to get? Or maybe we could give another advantage to the Swimming Tail? Hmm... Mermaid Nicheling would be cute Maybe if "More interesting water biomes" wins a community voting at some point1 point
-
mermaids would be cool but dangerous, what if it is your inactive traits? and it appears? on an island like the burning savanna, there is no water there apart from the ocean, and you can't swim there1 point

I agree on more interesting underwater areas and stuff. I would personally be in favor of an underwater biome with both underwater prey and predators so your nichelings spend 90% of their time down there, and maybe a small land tile with sand or something, just to help avoid situations where you get super unlucky and a baby without gills is born underwater, lol.1 point

Not sure about the design, but upvoting for the idea. A tail that could be more useful would be handy. Sort of like how we have the fishing tail.1 point
