we have shield bubbles to give a shield but what about repairing? it would make sense if (or example) a shield bubble uses a lot of energy and has a smaller diameter.2 points

Okay, so cold weather can kill a nicheling, but heat can't? Makes sense. I think it's OP that hot weather is less dangerous than cold weather. I think that heatstroke should function the same as freezing. This is just a thought I had, feel free to provide in-depth feedback.2 points

Enemies drop: Blue and green resources Special Parts of the drone, such as large batteries or small solar panels. Consumables, such as energy crystals, or fuel. Upgrades with limits for a weapon. Features: All drone parts cost per unit added to the drone. In order to avoid ten weapons of mass destruction added to a drone, weapons could be purchased in weapon editor instead of simply be created and added to the drone. Extra slots could be purchased per weapon. For every slot will be a dramatic increase of its price. Each weapon upgrade sould have cons and pros. For example, Attack Speed Increase should decrease accuracy and increase energy consumption while its counterpart would do the opposite. This will allow the creation of High Powered Cannons and such builds. Customize the efficiency of an upgrade by adjusting the bars that show the stats of the weapon. For example, Attack Speed Increase upgrade, should cost an amount of energy per percentage, while Attack Speed Upgrade 2 or 3 are more energy efficient, yet more expensive, so that the user can make his own upgrade. The cost of the upgrade will depend on how powerful the upgrade is. There could be limits of course and the analogy of the amount money and energy the upgrade costs compared to its effectiveness should be unforgiving for high amounts. No easily made super weapons. Plus the finite weapons feature means even if you manage to make an OP turret you will be able to add it once and will have to make more to increase their number. Finally this will help in the resource consumption because at some point very soon one can research all researches and have no need for resources after that. Fast Charge Battery should have more e/s recovery rate. The name says it, cant have the same energy recovery as the large battery and be called "fast recharge battery". Magnets can be toggled instead of continuous pressing of the activation button. Chest can have other resources combined or not. More drone parts have upgrades. For example, Batteries can have an extra recharge or capacity upgrade, Fuel tanks, thrusters, etc. Drone Parts and Upgrades Upgrade: Decrease Attack Speed (+Accuracy, -Energy Cost) Upgrade: Increase Energy Consumption (+Overall Stats) Part: High Capacity Battery (Four Blocks, No recharge) Part: Storage Unit (Small: Two Blocks, Large: Four Blocks) that can carry consumables, if implemented. Each block can be used seperatedly with respective custom shortcut key.2 points

My idea for a creature is probably a bat-like creature that is a mix of the common vampire bat and the fruit bat. These creatures will spawn in the rainforests, or near a large patch of trees where they can hide from the nichelings and the other predators. They can fly like birds, but they usually stay in trees to avoid being seen. They can range from any colors depending on the biome they are in so that they can blend in with their surroundings. Like the chameleon, they can also change colors when they change from one biome to the next. For example, it can be white in the snow biome and it will be called the Snow (Insert name) and it has their own characteristics (Like immune to cold), and a bat-like creature in the grasslands will be green and it will be called the Grass (Insert name) and will have a different characteristic from the bat-like creature in the snow biome (It is immune to poison). It can have a diet that consists of fruits or blood that they can suck from the nichelings. Whenever a nicheling has zero points and is near a tree (Has used up all of their gems), the bat-like creature will swoop in and prick the nicheling's skin and drink the blood. It will cause the nicheling to bleed, but it wouldn't hurt them unless if it hasn't been treated. As for a fruit diet, they will eat berries, posionous berries (Depending on what biome they are in), and all the other fruits. The only way you can see the bat-like creature is if you look in the trees closely, you can probably see them hanging from the branches of a tree. They will probably be slightly bigger than a leech, but no smaller than a newborn nicheling. If the bat-like creature has gotten on to your nicheling's fur, you can simply brush them away, or attack them. Brushing them away is probably the better choice, but if you do that, the bat-like creature will go away for a while and then it will comeback and the cycle will repeat. If you attack them, they will attack you back. They can be in groups of three to six and if you attack one member, they all attack. They have a speed of four, an attack of one or two depending on what biome they are in and if they are an adult or not, and they have a sight of two and a hearing of five. If you kill all the members of the group, except for the child, you can take the child in and take care of it. From there, you can breed with the creature when it becomes an adult and you can obtain the bat's wings, ears, eyes, face, and small, but very lean and fast body. Also, when the bat-like creature grows into an adult, it can do things like hunting for food or looking for a nest. Another thing I forgot to mention, is that you have to take the baby in the tribe in order to take care of it, like taking in a wanderer or a baby carnivore. Also, it would be nice to include a new fur type. The new fur type can consist of having patches on it's fur or patches with stripes or spots. It can have two different colors (Instead of a mix of black and white, the patches can be black and the stripes can be white). Another fur type can be a badger fur type or a fox fur type. Since the fox has three different colors, it can have a mix of the main fur colors (Like white and black equals gray), and have two different colors for the overlay and the tips of the ears and tail and feet (Like orange for the overlay and black for the tips, not mixed). That's all of the ideas I have for now and thanks for reading this and fingers crossed that these ideas will be implemented in the update P.S. I forgot to say that for the model of the bat-like creature, it can have the eyes and snout and wings of a fruit bat and the ears and body of a vampire bat. (Sorry if the model is too complicated, you can change it a bit if you like, but I would love it if it was an equal mix of the two bats). And I would also love it even more of the snout of the bat-like creature can have fangs. The creature can also have a long tail that can be used to lure all kinds of prey and the bat-like creature can eat and kill the creature or suck on it. Since the bat-like creature has a snout with fangs, maybe a feature of the snout is that it can suck blood and by sucking blood, it can reduce it's aging stages (Become younger), but to make it less overpowered, you can only de-age yourself if you suck from a big predator (The bear, the apes, or the killer carnivore). The creature can also suck blood and squirt it out of it's fangs into the predator's eyes and pernamently blind them. One thing I forgot to mention is the fact that in order to tame the bat-like creature, you would have to give it 15 food (Yes, I know, it's a lot. Sucks being a bit of an overpowered creature) or you can give it blood from your nichelings, but it will suck and hurt the nichelings by two days (Meaning, you will now have two days less than normal to live). If you don't want to add the new creature, but only the features of the creature, then that's fine by me too :32 points

To get to different islands like snow you have to find a port that leads you up/ north, going right will bring you to islands of the same difficulty and going left to easier islands. To reach the medium set of islands in story mode you'll first have to find the archipelago island (the north port for this one is usually found on Grass Adventure) you can take ten creatures, and from the archipelago you move up from there you go right until you can go up again to find even more difficult islands. If you want to reach Adams home island you'll have to pass two challenge islands and then go up/ take the savannah looking port from the crossing island (looks like the small grass starter island).2 points

i bred two females with a bearyena and used their children to start breeding for strength. it took several generations but i finally pulled out all the bearyena genes (except the ears cuz that's just cosmetic) so i can finally do this. its not so usefull right now but its just satisfying because it took so much careful breeding to keep all the genes in there without being able to mutate the snout in until now.2 points

I for some reason think it would be really nice if you could occasionally find a ramfox pup and take it in after it's pack is dead. You would be able to breed with it and have it hunt food for you. The genes I think it would give will be listed below. -Ram horns -Fox ears (3+hearing, just for looks) -Normal eyesight -Fox jaw (1+strength, 2+smelling) -Fluffy body (3+cold resistence, 1+speed, 1+strength) -Hunting claws (1+speed, 1+strength) -Normal hindlegs -Fluffy tail -White fur -Black eyes -Gray or white horns -White pattern -No pattern -Random pattern density and size -Normal blood clotting -High or normal fertility -Some random immunity genes? Or possibly one unique to the ramfoxes known as ramfox immunity? Oh well. Just felt like putting this idea out here.1 point

Alright, so I've seen some suggests asking for some type of creature creator/demo mode or whatever. I have been working on this for a while and I thought I'd make a new post since there's a lot more than just "A demo mode". This is gonna be mostly made up of pictures from what I call "Tutorial Mode" and I'll leave a link to a page with pictures without the text from tutorial mode. So first you can access this mode from the home screen like so: And then you would start at the creature creator (and to turn on tutorial mode you do this first (tutorial mode can be either be functional just with the yellow text or an example that goes away after you click)): Which can take you to either the creature list or the select mate screens which look like (also note that the scroll on the right on all screens is not accurate, and is just there to display its existence): (Where you can import creatures from save files like this: ) And confirming a breed brings you to the offspring list which is: Where there are trait statistics and custom filters (list of traits made by @Aysling here: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/626-nicheling-sort-filter-and-select/&page=0#comment-2030) : Or you can go to the punnett square: And from anything outside of the creature lists, you can go to the gem colors (which you can find individually here: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/646-customizable-and-programmable-gem-colors/) And the color cycle looks like this: And after all of that, you could use the creatures you used to start in sandbox mode like this: (Picture in production) So yea, that's all of it. Please let me know of any mistakes I might have made since this was a lot or of any logical inconsistencies. If you want to see the pictures without the text from tutorial mode, you can go to this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16dVKParfTHqHpSsuPD_UA_6cozEJ94_4Wtxpff6lIsE/edit?usp=sharing1 point

Out of all the genes, hind legs offer the least amount of variety. You only have three genes, normal hind legs, webbed hind legs, or Bearyena hind legs, and don't offer much if you have wings. I feel like there's a great opportunity here to get some more diversity in hind leg genes and to make them more useful for winged Nichelings, so I came up with two ideas for new hind legs, both of which give different abilities depending upon if a Nicheling is winged or not. TALON HIND LEGS If winged... +4 fishing +1 strength +1 swimming If not winged... +1 speed +1 swimming +1 strength Talon hind legs are meant to make fishing builds for winged Nichelings more viable. Currently, the only way to get fishing with winged Nichelings is if you have fishing tail, which only gives +2 fishing. Catching razorinas or clown kois with only +2 fishing is hard, so talon hind legs give +4 fishing so you can catch all fish. The +1 swimming is so you can still traverse water, and the +1 strength comes from the fact they're talons. On non-winged Nichelings, they act similar to Bearyena hind legs, giving +1 speed, +1 swimming, and +1 strength. GRASPING HIND LEGS talons.png If winged... +4 collecting +1 swimming If not winged... +1 speed +1 swimming +climbing Currently, the only to collect with wings is with beak, which only has +1 collecting--not incredibly efficient. Grasping hind legs would offer winged Nichelings a more efficient way of collecting, acting like a double pair of nimble fingers and giving +4 collecting. The +1 swimming is so you can still traverse water. Meanwhile, on non-winged Nichelings, they'd offer +1 speed, +1 swimming, and +climbing. Climbing would be a new stat that gives them the ability to go into trees, even if they aren't winged.1 point

Currently it needs alot of parts to build a thruster that rotates to a specific direction. You need a (big) directional sensor, a motorized hinge and a thruster. I think having a small thruster that automatically aligns itself to a direction (same as directional sensor) could make alot of sense for smaller crafts.1 point

Not sure if this has been suggested already, sorry if it has. It's a dark idea, but I've had this issue for quite a while. It's my fault for not scanning the entire map after every move, but often times one (or a few) of my female nichelings will get impregnated by a rogue male (One time I looked the same turn and couldn't even find him? What's up with that?), then I have to move them all the way to a nest and wait for the ugly derp snout babies to grow up before I can kick them out of the tribe. But then they continue to wander the island and eat up all the berries until you kill them, which wastes precious turns, or they die from one reason or the other. It happens in real life, and it would be useful here. Not only for unwanted derpy offspring, but babies that are born sick and could potentially infect the rest of your tribe if you don't always keep them separated from everyone else, not to mention that kicking sick nichelings from your tribe just enables them to run loose and wander into your tribe, infecting more since you can no longer control where they go.1 point

An upgrade that would be very very powerful, at the cost of certain other stats or facets. YOu would probbaly have to unlock these via sidequests or find them rarely on planets or the like. It would take up a tech slot on a weapon (or other items, if those get added), and conists of things like weapon upgrades with +150% damage, but +100% power consumption and +25% recoil.1 point
-
It makes sense for a wandering nicheling to have something like hammer tail recessive because you wouldn't be the only ones who find those genes, just make it really rare of course. Same for the rouge male thing. It kind of makes no sense for rouge males to only have bad genes and not some decent ones, just saying.1 point

I think that having a mirror line you can place in the drone editor would be great. I think you should be able to choose the position of the mirror line as well.1 point

So basically, my friend was doing a siren tribe. She left and came back after a few hours, and she had a recent baby. And suddenly, the mother was a baby as well. A pic of the mother's family tree --------------------------------------------------------------- And a pic of her behind her child.. as a child. No idea what happened.1 point

I've played multiple games with 100+ days on them, but I have never gotten to one of the different island types. No snow, jungle, savannah etc. I've jumped to different islands multiple times. Am I just doing this wrong? Or is this normal?1 point

if I might add one thing. with the most recent update making super ultra death machines much harder to do energy-wise, it would be awesome if the heat stuff was more on the manageable side or at least doesn't take up one of the weapon attachment slots. because I have to use those sparingly already.1 point

Thanks Skysplash, I'll try remembering those Names And yes, I hope this Feature Will play along well if it were to be added.1 point

Playing on a laptop, even with a USB mouse, I find it slightly difficult and time-consuming to open the family tree menu and switch between looking at skills, the genome, and mutations. Adding hotkeys for viewing these features would make the game run a bit more smoothly, especially for those using trackpads or cheap mouses.1 point
-
Yes please, a couple more hotkeys would be nice. Added bonus if we can rebind them, but I'll take just the hotkeys by themselves.1 point

This sounds AWESOME! And just to help you out, here's the names of the things you din't know the names of (or at least what everyone calls them)~ Owl like birds- Bluebirds (It's basically a blue hawk) Iceberg things- Iceblocks Mole Holes/The Dirt Holes for The Moles- Stagmole holes (They're moles with Stag antlers) Snow/Or Whatever the Blue Glaze looking Pastel color is- I think you may be thinking of the frozen ground in mountain biome~ Snow is white and will sometimes fall there, piling up so you can't go on the tile without clearing the snow away first.1 point

This sums up everything I wanted to point out when playing the closed alpha release: Bugs When anti-aliasing is disabled, distance sensor beams may not render at some angles/zooms, (assumedly) due to them being in-between pixels. Solution: make the beam wider. "Risk Level" reports are rather in-accurate, as "low" risk planets can still swarm with more cannons than the German Military Suggestions When the transmitter "cocoons" while under attack, the transmitter effect will be disabled (as it should be no longer transmitting, I assume) until it stops cocooning. Bring back mother hives! have an FTL jump cutscene play when jumping to planets (but can be disabled as the user pleases) Multiplayer co-operative/competitive gameplay? I know that's usually a big ask, but co-operative gameplay never fails to please people. City planets: planets with large sci-fi cities. Visiting them will grant special missions, but you will have to pay a tax to fly to them. Alternatively, city planets could have disasters, where you will have to launch a drone and finish the mission within a time limit (such as killing a giant space snake, deploying certain equipment, or otherwise) Fuel tanks, battery cells and ore tanks can give a key output when they are full or empty Ammo types should show tooltips about their effects. General Feedback I like the changes to the weapon systems, especially the option to have the weapon "fixed". This saves a lot of time, and removes the unnecessary requirement to farm weapons just to get one with a fixed angle. Of course, with the new weapon system, some fun (admittedly over-powered) features will be missed. I hope more planet types, missions and general obstacles to overcome will be added to the game, along side alternative gamemodes, similar to the sumo arena, which require the player to design autonomous drones to solve tasks.1 point
-
Hey Thanks for the feedback. Some good suggestions there! I'll add it to our list. We have plans for many more game modes similar to the sumo arena, for example a battle arena with weapons, a drone race and some sort of obstacle course / labyrinth that you have to solve with an autonomous drone. The only point that won't be done in the near future is real multiplayer. The only type of multiplayer we have currently planned is drone sharing and playing against autonomous drones of other players in different modes / tournaments. Cheers, Micha1 point

The family tree view is almost completely a one-stop shop for information except that the age and remaining life for a creature are absent. It seems like there is sufficient space for adding this in the rightmost pane.1 point

I'd rather have them literally utilized in the level. If you need a light source, use the captured enemy for light. Use the exploding fireflies in a no-weapons level as your only weapon, so on and so forth.1 point

Honestly... I agree. It would only make sense considering that anything else that attacks the pup insta-kills it. however there has to be some kind of safety on this kind of thing: I can only imagine the horror as players accidentally kill off their newborns after this goes up. Mayhaps one can only do this action on an omega, for example. And the button be a different color... maybe with a warning/confirmation window too. and two players have to turn the keys simulta-ok I'm done1 point

If this is added, it would be nice if the ramfox would sometimes pick up whatever it kills and dropped it next to the nearest tribe member, since they do hunt as packs, they probably would share some food with their new pack.1 point
