This would be huge. It sounds so deadly. But so fun. But what happens if preds wander everywhere? Rere: Oh hey Kuro remember that balance bear we saw when we were kids? Kuro: Yeah but we moved from the mountains to the savannah. Rere: I guess it followed us. Kuro: Crap.6 points

I love the idea! But, here's a problem this idea faces. How would you cool down your nicheling? If its a heatstroke, you need to be cool, but how could you do that? Would you breathe on them like a fan? Would you have to implement some sort of carrying feature, to carry them to water or under a savannah tree? Or here's a possible idea: I think sometimes, don't specifically remember, but doesn't it sometimes rain in savannahs? If it does, here's an idea. Reviving rain. Any nicheling suffering from heatstroke will be revived from it after a rain, giving them 1 energy to get somewhere. Or, a nicheling that isn't under some form of protection will get wet, an effect that lasts for a 1-3 days. While this effect is active, the nichelings with it can go to a nicheling with heatstroke and cool them with the water or just shake it off themselves.3 points

Right when I entered the test flight my screen turned all weird. This also happened when I go into the first planet. It changes in between different things but never fully goes away. There was two saves in Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/unity.Nimbatus.Nimbatus/Saves so ill just send both of them cause I'm not that sure which one it is. The version I play is 0.3.2 closed alpha. Slot1.nimbatusSaveGame.Meta Slot1.nimbatusSaveGame2 points

I love how you keep putting out these suggestions! But, they need a little more time and thought. Maybe some descriptions too. Don't get me wrong, I like all the new ideas, but without more.. like.. uhhh... Descriptions of what it is, what it will look like, people don't know what you're thinking. Like, how would wolf fangs be different from poison fangs or saber tooth fangs? And how would the tail look? If you want upvotes, your ideas need more depth to them. But feel free to keep putting them! We learn as we go on!2 points

I think what they mean is this: Nicheling A has a bearyena claw, and snout. A finds an aggressive bearyena and is allowed to breed with it, god only knows why, and it makes more hybrid parts? I assume this is what they mean.2 points

I'd love this! And I absolutely love how much detail you put into this! And sometimes it annoys me with the rabbils, as sometimes I have a 1 strength tribe and a lot of rabbils, and I can never tell which will fricking die! But, upvote for you!2 points

This seems awesome. I really want this! I hope more people find it, upvote my friend! Also, possible suggestion; You know how toxic body gives random colors? What if the wings did the same. I know you said you meant all those different wings as different options for the devs, but I swear, it'd be so cool to see a whole flock of colorful different colored butterfly nichelings! Or, maybe, the back wings could be a seperate gene. Orrrrr, Butterfly Body 1 is the gradiant, and it has a wing name, and so on! God I'd love that. Anyways, my ramblings aside, awesome idea! And awesome artwork!2 points

It always annoyed me that we couldn't check the bluebird or crabbits (not so much with rabbils as they are one or two hits). Especially now that we can attack the bluebird it is really frustrating not to know when he'll go down.2 points

I love this idea! And I also have something to add on to that. -when a mother nicheling and a baby nicheling are in the same nest the mother will occasionally lick the child2 points

Okay, I know what you're thinking, but I have a very good reason for not putting on a head, tail, or coloring the legs: I wanted the full focus to be on the body! XD You will most definitely still have a tail and head and colored limbs, I just wanted to focus on the body. Speaking of the body, though, let me first focus on the actual main body then I'll get to the wings: The body is broken up into three sections. The top section of the body is very fluffy and puffy, similar to that of the Big Body, and takes on the dominant fur color. The middle section is smooth and takes on the recessive fur color. The bottom section is also smooth but matches the top section in taking on the dominant fur color. The middle and bottom sections are supposed to be round/cylindrical like a butterfly's body; I did my best to get that kind of impression. The middle section is where the top wings connect, and the bottom section is where the bottom wings connect, though since they're butterfly wings they look like it's all one big wing, so I guess it doesn't really matter when it comes to actually making the models for the game. XD Now for the wings attached to the body: Butterfly wings can vary from bottom [facing toward you] to top [when you view them from the back], so as a result I decided to draw three different types of butterfly wing. All of them offer +4 flying and you can fly with this body, but no swooping. Having two bird wings instead would get you a lot farther a lot faster, of course, but flying for this body is more or less a background ability; it's what you'll see below that's the real stars of the show. Type 1 [at the top with the gradient]: +1 attractiveness, +1 distasteful appearance, +1 poisonous [when being attacked] Type 2 [bottom left green one]: +2 camouflage +1 attractiveness Type 3 [bottom right yellow one]: +2 intimidate +1 distasteful appearance .::EDIT::. I figured it would be best to show a full body complete nicheling with this body as an example, so below I will do just that! Type 1: Type 2: Type 3: .::EDIT2::. I had the idea to draw out variations of the wings, so here we go! I included as many fur colors, horn colors, and eye colors as I could to make these Type 1 Variations! But first, a little info: The body's midsection is the recessive fur color, and the top and bottom are the dominant fur color. The wing's outline is the same as the horn color. The wing's semi-transparent gradient goes like this: The color closest to the body is the recessive eye color and the color closest to the tip of the wing is the dominant eye color. I replaced Violet with Pink because I like it better that way. Besides, pink stands out more. The wing's spots go like this: The big spots are the complimentary color to the dominant eye color [example: Blue-Orange, pink-yellow], and the little spots are the complimentary color to the recessive eye color. Now on to the wings!! Just the wings by themselves: The wings with the body outlines: [because I've been told these are easier to see] The full examples of wing variants with colored bodies: And for flavor, here we have an example of an Albino and a Melanistic nicheling:1 point

Hi! yay, Love this game. so I have been thinking about it for a while now, watching people play the game and playing the game myself. There is this, ever so slight, annoying thing that occurs. Remembering characters names is one, and the other is, who am I limiting myself to breed to. This also ties into another problem. As your speeding around your biome, having everyone doing their various tasks, once in a while. as I hover over the "..." and I prepare to, remove grass, leaches, crack a nut, dig a root, or in general, do something on a space that one Nicheling is on with another Nicheling. I occasionally accidentally hit that heart icon instead. That brief moment of cold sweet washes over me as I realize that the resulting baby might be double immunity as I quickly check their genes. I begin the rush of moving the mother far away to a nest away from the tribe. Usually resulting in the sad eventual sick baby that I must leave behind. It occurs to me that if only there had been a way to prevent this accidental twitching click of mine. So I Thought it over, watching the Jessimew videos (It's how I've been learning to play), hearing her referring to mates. I realized then, that it would be an amazing option too actually have a setting in your Nichelings profiles to designate a specific mate if you want one. This way. If your like me, with a trigger finger twitch, even if you hit that dreadful heart, if your accident female or even male already has a specified mate, instead of mating you get a failed breeding message, the reason being, "this female/male is already mated and has rejected you, better luck next time" or something like that. This will only stop you/me from accidentally breeding to a female or male that has a chosen mate I specified. All other aspects of the game would remain the same. And when a mate dies or is on another island, they will automatically drop from the mated menu. I have no art for preview as to how it should look, but this is my idea, Hope you guys like it and think it might work.1 point

If you've been playing Niche for a while, you probably never thought about being able to hit a rabbil with one strength but need two for a one-hit-kill or that an ape moves twice at night while a walrus deer moves every turn. For new Niche players and old ones that may need a reminder, I am proposing that there's a health bar for entities that do not have a lifespan and expanding on the details for those that already have one. This would also be useful for keeping track of multiple of the same creature for both role-playing and functional purposes. I have a few examples with pictures and I'll describe some more. First, a health bar for a bluebird: The three icons on the top represent personal information (health bar creatures only), primary role to you, and current activity. For the bluebird, the first icon lets you know how long this bluebird has been around and an estimated time of leaving. The second icon indicates that the bluebird is primarily a predator. The third icon indicates that the bluebird is flying around. The third icon for the bluebird can also be "targeting" (focused on a specific meal, either meat or baby nicheling), "hungry" (in search of food), and "satisfied" (has just eaten, more likely to leave). Next, a health bar for a rabbil: The three icons are representative of the same things as the bluebird. The first icon tells you how long this rabbil has been around. The second icon indicates that the rabbil is primarily prey. The third icon indicates that the rabbil is currently hungry and is searching for food. The third icon for the rabbil can also be "eating", "resting" (is not moving), and "wandering" (is not after anything specific, just around). You can also see that on the health bar that this particular rabbil has been hit once; this allows you to know which rabbil this is. Also, a complex health bar for a crabbit: The first icon is the same as a rabbil's second icon. The second icon indicates that this creature is focused on a certain creature and will potential follow that creature. The second icon for the crabbit can also be "eating", “wandering”, “hungry”, "resting", and "very focused" (where the crabbit locks its eyes on one creature despite being hit from behind). You'll also notice that the crabbit has both a lifespan and health bar and that the damage is where the lifespan is. This is because from my experience, I have realized that crabbits have a set lifespan of 6-8 days (it's been a while since I tested) and can be attacked. However unlike most entities in Niche, crabbits' lifespan and health work independently. Some other comments I wanted to make about what other entities could have in terms of information are stagmoles having one health and one defense (and also having the current activity of “hiding” which gives you an estimate of when the stagmole will come out of its hole), carnivorous plants having a health bar that does not show how much health it has until it is either opened or taking a nicheling (when it has a nicheling, clicking on that nicheling twice brings up the carnivorous plant's stats), and fish swarms will also show how many fish they have in each swarm via the "Food worth" section (they also have the current activity of "breeding" where they are increasing their numbers). Another side note is that entities that move every day instead of every turn also tell you how much energy they have. For example, the apes have 2 energy as they perform two actions after the day is passed.1 point

This feature would be cool so you could paint anything the color you desire. Such as you want your spike to be blue or red.1 point

Giving hearing mode and smell mode different visual filters would make it impossible to mistake one for the other. This is most important for newer players, who are most likely to mistake the modes, but would improve the experience of advanced players too (my fingers have slid a key over on accident more than once). In addition, different filters could add a degree of flavoring to the different senses. A very simple way to achieve this would be to give smell a sepia tone filter while retaining the grayscale filter of hearing. Some other ideas: - Add a blur effect to the colored glows of smell mode; it's not a good sense for precise location at a distance. - Leave tribe nichelings in color in both or either modes. They are recognized and known to every sense.1 point

I love the look of Balance Bears and they sort of look like nichelings, especially the ears so why not just put this idea out there? But forgive me I looked at the stats of the balance bear and don't really know what genes they'd offer so here's what I've got, feel free to add your own input and suggestions. Existing BB Genes: Black Eyes Normal Ears No Horns White Fur New Genes They'd Offer: (Note: I'm not trying to be op I'm basing theses genes off of the BB's actual stats) Far Sighted Eyes: +5 Eyesight( this may actually be a bit op) Balance Bear Paw/Claw - +1 Strength, +1 Collecting, +1 Fishing Balance Bear Snout - +5 Smelling, +2 Fishing Balance Bear Hind Legs - +2 Speed Bulky Body/Fat Layers(Idk what do call it) - +3 Defense(Maybe +2 if its too op) +1 Cold Res. (EDIT: Perhaps the large body could add a new ability call Upright Posture that would add some eyesight rather than have a really op eyesight gene) Balance Bear Pattern - This pattern(recessive) would mask any other patterns the nicheling had as long as it had 2 copies of the gene and would basically be exactly the pattern of the Balance Bear on a Nicheling body from ears to hindlegs. Stats: +1 Batesian Mimicry:(Or perhaps just +1 Distasteful Appearance) since the pattern resembles another Balance Bear it would make other Balance Bears as well as other weaker animals less likely to attack anything sporting that pattern (Just a thought) Ironically the pattern may also help camouflage in the jungle since its spotty Also do Balance Bears have tails? I guess I could add a BB tail gene too just for looks, idk what stats it would have, maybe like +1 Cold Res.(which is basically a fluffy tail) Lastly I know I might have stated it above but before you call any of these gene op think about what you'd have to do to obtain them according to how current hybrids in the game are bred, 1st you' have to get to the Mountain Biome, 2nd You'd have to survive long enough for a BB with a cub to spawn, 3rd You'd have to kill the parent BB and tame the cub(mind you BB's have a lifespan of a 100 days and 3 defense), 4th Wait for that cub to grow up and then breed with it, 5th Breed the recessive BB traits so that they are displayed as phenotypes. Actual Balance Bear Stats: (I just put these here for reference) 2 Speed 2 Strength 3 Defense 2 Collecting 4 Fishing 5 Eyesight 3 Hearing 5 Smelling 1 Cold Res.1 point

I don't miss them, but I'mma upvote this for all the people who do. Upvote for all the old graphic missers!1 point

They do have tails. Really, really big fluffy frikin tails that I LOVE! Maybe it could have a large fluffy tail, a small balance bear tail basically, and it gives +2 cold res because its so frickin fluffy. Edit: Here's a big floofy balance bear tail. It may not seem big on it but it's the size of an adult nicheling if it standing up straight, or I imagine so.1 point
-
It could! Maybe it could give +1 stealth, as it is tiny and wouldn't allow a nicheling to brush their tail against the grasses by accident. That'd be cool. And I'd just love to see a lil' stub tail on my nichelings ❤️1 point

I think this is a good idea! The poor pine trees are just so neglected, it kinda makes me sad. What if, we made them bigger and they could warm you up if you were next to their trunk and they shielded the immediate tile next to them from snow, so no snow build up there! Idk, but upvote my friend!1 point

Bought the game for my girlfriend during summer sale and she is in love! She told my mom about it at dinner during the 4th and now my mom is interested in the game. She is super stoked to make a water based niche. This one is for you Mama.1 point

Maybe they could have pinecones on the ground or dangling from branches (that you would then need flying to get), and if you have nimble fingers or the bird beak (or maybe just cracking) you can get pine nuts out of them1 point

sounds like an interesting concept I haven’t seen before, I look forward to playing it.1 point

Actually in the recent update they made plant growths come off the giant trees to allow for flying nichelings to sit on them I thought that was pretty cool. What do you mean by landing on grass? I like the idea of landing on healing plants, rocks, and bushes, since nichelings with this body are supposed to be smaller than the other available bodies.1 point

I like the idea of horn growth, and I imagine that if you did not know your baby nichelings had horns it would be quite a surprise.1 point

The " strange B" stands for beta, and while this would be an interesting idea, it would be incredibly hard to implement into the game. And also please work on the grammar in this, it is incredibly hard to understand.1 point

I feel like health bars would be good. I know you can check the health of bearyenas and balance bears, but not small prey.1 point

maybe you can perch in them and gather material(aka the cones, bark or needles) in them? or eat beetles if there was no snow for 3 days in a row1 point

Hello! So I think that niche could use a little bit more idle movement. The eye blinking is already a nice step, but besides that and head moving, there really isn't a lot of interactions or movements, so here are a few things I think would be nice to add. -Maybe a nose lick, scratching and itch or just moving their ears around? -when going to sleep, they can curl into a little ball. - Maybe (If its not too much work!) Add a little brawling, perhaps a rare animation that happens between two males one in a moon? Those are my suggestions! thanks for considering1 point
-
Those ideas are really cool, @Fishyfishyfishy500 ! I also agree with @Frozenpelt Warrior that I would just really like to see more plants added in general! I was so excited when they added the new varieties of trees in this last update, and seeing more varieties would definitely increase the aesthetic appeal of islands that are currently rather drab in some ways like the savanna, or even the oceans if coral or the like gets added. I would really like to see a biome that is rather forested and would have all sorts of trees in it!1 point
-
@Snowystar32 I think that Fishtfishyfishy500 and Lilytuft know that, but we’re trying to make the point that your idea may be a bit out of place and that Lilytuft’s idea is a good alternative to it.1 point

Since we have Armored Body and Hammer Tail, I figured it would be pretty neat to have an Armored Head. It could easily be based off of the ankylosaurus or any kind of ceratopsian- I'd personally prefer ceratopsian simply because their shields are impressive-looking, but ankylosaurus heads are just as effective while being cuter so I won't turn them down. Now, I hear what you're saying: "Put MysticTopaz, ceratopsians' shields were more for looks than anything!" And yes, that is true, but imagine if they were reinforced and actually were viable shields- that'd be awesome! As for stats, I figure it could give at least a +1 in defense, but I'd prefer a +2. And a regular sense of smell. This would be a perfect addition to the ice genes, btw, just in case everyone was wondering where/how we'd get an armored head .::EDIT::. Thanks to Pokestardragacraft for the addition of this idea: instead of Ankylosaurus or a ceratopsian type of head, the head could be that of a Pachycephalosaurus, adding +1 strength +1 defense and +1 smelling. Meanwhile, the Ankylosaurus would be +2 defense +2 smelling, and the ceratopsian head, if we're going off of legitimate history, would probably be better suited as a +1 intimidation +1 attractiveness +1 smelling rather than having any defense stats. Pachycephalosaurus https://goo.gl/images/wrJDTV Ankylosaurus https://goo.gl/images/FGTUdx Protoceratops [I chose this instead of any other ceratopsian because it doesn't have horns, since this is a head build and horns are separate in the game] https://goo.gl/images/T8ficF1 point

My idea for a creature is probably a bat-like creature that is a mix of the common vampire bat and the fruit bat. These creatures will spawn in the rainforests, or near a large patch of trees where they can hide from the nichelings and the other predators. They can fly like birds, but they usually stay in trees to avoid being seen. They can range from any colors depending on the biome they are in so that they can blend in with their surroundings. Like the chameleon, they can also change colors when they change from one biome to the next. For example, it can be white in the snow biome and it will be called the Snow (Insert name) and it has their own characteristics (Like immune to cold), and a bat-like creature in the grasslands will be green and it will be called the Grass (Insert name) and will have a different characteristic from the bat-like creature in the snow biome (It is immune to poison). It can have a diet that consists of fruits or blood that they can suck from the nichelings. Whenever a nicheling has zero points and is near a tree (Has used up all of their gems), the bat-like creature will swoop in and prick the nicheling's skin and drink the blood. It will cause the nicheling to bleed, but it wouldn't hurt them unless if it hasn't been treated. As for a fruit diet, they will eat berries, posionous berries (Depending on what biome they are in), and all the other fruits. The only way you can see the bat-like creature is if you look in the trees closely, you can probably see them hanging from the branches of a tree. They will probably be slightly bigger than a leech, but no smaller than a newborn nicheling. If the bat-like creature has gotten on to your nicheling's fur, you can simply brush them away, or attack them. Brushing them away is probably the better choice, but if you do that, the bat-like creature will go away for a while and then it will comeback and the cycle will repeat. If you attack them, they will attack you back. They can be in groups of three to six and if you attack one member, they all attack. They have a speed of four, an attack of one or two depending on what biome they are in and if they are an adult or not, and they have a sight of two and a hearing of five. If you kill all the members of the group, except for the child, you can take the child in and take care of it. From there, you can breed with the creature when it becomes an adult and you can obtain the bat's wings, ears, eyes, face, and small, but very lean and fast body. Also, when the bat-like creature grows into an adult, it can do things like hunting for food or looking for a nest. Another thing I forgot to mention, is that you have to take the baby in the tribe in order to take care of it, like taking in a wanderer or a baby carnivore. Also, it would be nice to include a new fur type. The new fur type can consist of having patches on it's fur or patches with stripes or spots. It can have two different colors (Instead of a mix of black and white, the patches can be black and the stripes can be white). Another fur type can be a badger fur type or a fox fur type. Since the fox has three different colors, it can have a mix of the main fur colors (Like white and black equals gray), and have two different colors for the overlay and the tips of the ears and tail and feet (Like orange for the overlay and black for the tips, not mixed). That's all of the ideas I have for now and thanks for reading this and fingers crossed that these ideas will be implemented in the update P.S. I forgot to say that for the model of the bat-like creature, it can have the eyes and snout and wings of a fruit bat and the ears and body of a vampire bat. (Sorry if the model is too complicated, you can change it a bit if you like, but I would love it if it was an equal mix of the two bats). And I would also love it even more of the snout of the bat-like creature can have fangs. The creature can also have a long tail that can be used to lure all kinds of prey and the bat-like creature can eat and kill the creature or suck on it. Since the bat-like creature has a snout with fangs, maybe a feature of the snout is that it can suck blood and by sucking blood, it can reduce it's aging stages (Become younger), but to make it less overpowered, you can only de-age yourself if you suck from a big predator (The bear, the apes, or the killer carnivore). The creature can also suck blood and squirt it out of it's fangs into the predator's eyes and pernamently blind them. One thing I forgot to mention is the fact that in order to tame the bat-like creature, you would have to give it 15 food (Yes, I know, it's a lot. Sucks being a bit of an overpowered creature) or you can give it blood from your nichelings, but it will suck and hurt the nichelings by two days (Meaning, you will now have two days less than normal to live). If you don't want to add the new creature, but only the features of the creature, then that's fine by me too :31 point
-
YES. OMG YES. PLEASE. I can't stand misclicks and having color coded action symbols would be SO MUCH EASIER.1 point
-
Perhaps also tail movements like wagging or twitching? I noticed the other day that I can barely see my nichelings' tails unless I position the camera directly overhead.1 point
-
1 point
-
I love that idea! I think it would really help bring the nichelings to life even more and add to the overall charm of the game. Maybe a nicheling's tail could swish side to side occasionally, I think that would be cute to see1 point
-
I would like more idle animations for nichelings, but I think they would have to be simple. Complex animations might not work well since nicheling models are static, but simple animations like ear twitching, nose licking and yawning would be perfect. A sleeping animation might even be possible, since it would only activate after a nicheling uses up all of their turns.1 point
-
I think small idle movements would be good, but no walking animations and such. It would be odd for niche's style in my opinion. Plus, think of the times you can spam the walk buttons. How would the walking animation cope? But, I love the suggestion! Upvote my friend!1 point
-
Oh, I love this idea! To keep with the mixed earth animal theme, may I suggest naming them Snorms? Part snake, part worm?1 point
-
I made a similar suggestion to this in the first community voting, but it was not among the most popular suggestions at the time, and was overlooked. I would still like to see this added to the game, because it would help roleplayers and increase immersion. Separating the family tree by generations is a good idea to prevent lag, but preferably it would be seamless.1 point
-
About the lag for longer games, someone suggested that they'd be stored in boxes instead of scrolling so a box for generation 1 and or 2 and then another box for generation 3. That way only one or two boxed will be open (or scroll through) and the other ones wouldn't be loaded. In addition to that we could have the option to export the file to see it whole?1 point
-
I personally probably won't need this, but if it helps other players I'm all for it!1 point
