  2. The ones i'm really hoping get added are scruff carrying and creature creator/breeder mode. So many times i've had to sacrifice my nichelings in order to save their babies, so it would be great if they could just take them away from the danger.

  9. Dear Drone Engineers, We just released a new update for the Closed Alpha of Nimbatus! Here are the patch notes: New Features We’ve been working on a new system for the enemies, allowing us to add more interesting gameplay and behaviour for the enemies. Added three new lava planets with 10 different enemies / objects and new missions. All drone parts, enemies and objects now have a temperature and start to burn or freeze which affects their functionality. Plasma Ammunition now deals less damage, but causes enemies to burn. Cryogenic Ammunition now deals less damage but causes enemies to freeze. Basic blocks can now have heat resistant or cold resistant plating Added Altimeter part. Added Temperature Sensor part. Added Heater and Cooler drone parts, used to heat up or cool down your drone. Added -100% damage upgrade. Bugfixes Fixed LED’s when using tags as input Fixed that large fuel tanks were attracted with too much force when using magnets. Fixed particle weapon velocity when flying while shooting Improvements Added display for all keybindings to the drone workshop Replaced some Icons inside the workshop Improved visuals of grenades Upgrades now also cost marium resources found on the new lava planets We'd love to hear your feedback :)!

  13. Hi everyone! I'm really happy I decided to finally join the niche community! I've been playing since the beginning, and really enjoy playing it! I'm vFlora, but you can call me Chloe if you'd like! I was born in Maryland, USA and currently still live here. I'm going to be going to high school this 2018 September and would love to be a biologist or journalist when I am older. I enjoy playing video games, drawing, watching anime and writing, and reading (Warriors especially). I love cats but sadly have yet to adopt one. I am a very shy person irl, lol, but am slowly learning to break out of my comfort zone, yay! Also, my favorite youtuber is Seri! Pixel Biologist. And that's pretty much it! Nice to meet you all!

  16. I want to be like "I hope this one specific feature gets added!" but I want them ALLLLL! Also, what counts as "small" features and "big" ones? Is one gene (like Savanna Horns) count as small? Does Customizable and Programmable Gem Colors count as big?

  17. Sidenote: Due to some compatibility issues with the new planets, we had to reset the progress for the missions. Also if you start a new game the map will have a different seed and will look different compared to loading a previous savefile.

  18. @Pokestardragacraft What about an option to show things on the little circles with the head and the name below it like: Gems colors (all three of them) (helpful for when you organize your creatures by their gem colors) Age (in days) (helpful when you need to see if there's any creatures who are about to die of old age)

  19. There should also be a "Randomize" type to suprise yourself on the options. There should also be a spot to give different kinds of disaster types, like "No Droughts", or stuff like that. This is an amazing idea, one I thought about when I first started playing, but completely forgot about when the polls started 🙂

Considering how high both the insectivorious and bat head suggestions got, an insectivorous themed update would work reeeeeaally well just saying (empathetic nudging in the devs' direction) Though for real glad to finally see some possibilities! Whatever you guys end up choosing it looks like I'll definitely be looking forward to it regardless!

  21. So, niche definetly needs notification updates. An example of this is, One of your creatures died. By what? And who? What happened? I feel this is a problem we all can have. So, here's a request I believe would be simple. Making it so we can actually know who died and possibly by what? I feel it'd be a simple but nice addition.

  22. You know those flower tiles on ports leading to easy islands? Wouldn't it be fun to have them on easy islands as normal tiles? We have the clovers in mountain biome, why not have flowers in grassland? ☘️ They would not be covered in grass, but maybe they could grow around berrybushes too. These flowers wouldn't serve any other purpose than to look pretty, but it would be nice to at least have them.

  23. So, the other day I decided on trying to create another exciting Niche world with Storymode. I figured that it'd be quite relaxing to play, since normally I challenge myself with hard islands right off the bat. So I make it all the way to having Eve join the tribe, as usual, and then they have three babies, all female, which is totally fine. Then, I move over to the next island. More and more babies are born, one after another, all female. At this point I'm desperate to have a boy, as my only male is Adam and there are no wild creatures to be found. Only two days left, and then another girl is born. Last day alive, female. I'm left with not a single male in the tribe. Since I had to force breeding at the end to hope for a boy, some of my creatures are dying of starvation. And then... a blessing arrived. This strange, spiky-bodied male shows up out of the blue, deformed paw and all, ready to breed with my first-born who he matches up perfectly with, and, happens to be the one that found him in the first place. Wow. This is what everything looked like. Eight females, and then our precious make on the left. Dreams really do come true. It was so fun seeing this all happen! (P.S. sorry for all of the warrior cat-themed names, I was doing this with my younger cousins, and they wanted to choose some warrior names, lol. Gingerstar on the far right of the second picture is the creature that found our lovely male. :))

Running version 0.3.2 Possibly related to Aevus's post about NOT gates below I was trying to make a little mining drone that activates once the distance sensor stops activating (see very crudely drawn explanation on screenshot) It works exactly as anticipated in the testing area, but once I got to the planet to test, the drone immediately activates, as if the NOT gate is activating B even though the distance sensor (A) is still detecting the drone above it.

Maybe add possibility of adding some facny HUD somewhere in the corner, you may select certain values to show like: - percentage of fuel/energy in selected group of their storages - speed value measured by certain speed sensor, or average speed of few speed sensors - if certain button/tag is on, with description like: If button T is on/off green/red light near writing saying "Shields" - percentage of HP of certain group of elements - distance and/or direction to nearbiest objective/nearbiest enemy/nimbatus - atmosphere properties - altitude - amount of candies in the jar (I never get it right)

  26. I noticed that nichelings with peacock tail or antenna always have either purple or blue accent colors, respectively (at least from the front, and only males for the peacock tail). However, I don't think that that goes well with all fur colors, horn colors, and eye colors. I think that a possible solution could be either to make it a complimentary color of the color it is on, or have it based on eye color (so a nicheling with orange eyes would have orange accents, a nicheling with blue eyes would have blue accents, etc.). A new gene slot could also be a solution, but I don't think it's the best one, as it would only end up applying to creatures with specific genes.

  27. was testing some new weapons when i stopped in this exact spot by chance, and this happened. It can be reproduced by finding the same spot again and standing there. i think it considers some empty space between the drone parts as valid spawn point?

  30. I hate jungles but just running usually works pretty well (if you have a lot of food stocked up your technique will work even better) but staying by she shoreline probably won't the seeing ape is probably going to be your doom or the other two depending on your creatures

  32. @cade the outer two thrusters are connected to a directional sensor to keep it pointing straight down, and the inner two thrusters fire when it gets too close to the ground so that it hovers instead of hitting the ground. I think it could work without the middle two thrusters now that I think about it

Heard about the game yesterday and spent the whole day playing. here is a little automated hover mining thingy i made while playing around with the logic, the coder in me loves this stuff :P hope i am not too late for the competition :) ps. the game runs surprisingly smooth on linux for an alpha

  37. I just lost my first tribe last night so I'm a little emotional, but I managed to save pictures of a few favorites. First we have the twins, Prince and Prophet. Prince had my first Peacock Tail and they were my first Antenna Nichelings. Second picture is Tox, Prince's daughter with a wanderer we took in. She was my first Toxic Body Nicheling.

I had an idea called the flowerfern, it is a plant that grows on trees, rocks, stumps and the ground in jungle and Savannah biomes, you can sit in it, and use it as a free nest, but these are heavily guarded by dodomingoes and burrowing owlparrots, you can also pick it up and put it on your back(needs adult), it gives you 2 camouflage when worn in those biomes, for the cost of -1 in all movement stats, it also takes a hit for you, but gets destroyed after one hit, you can also break it to get 5 material and 5 food

  39. This is a really cool idea! I wanted to add something to this too. Maybe hovering over the nesting material let’s you see how much of each type of material you have. Nests will match the biome if you have enough material and if you don’t, nests will be made out of the material you have the most of. There would also be a customization button say if you want to mix materials for a custom nest.

  41. most of the complaints are about the gene system it seems. i think most don't understand how it works, and that it is fine to inbreed as long as the genes are different. that and they want more story. in my opinion most of the complaints are: we did't do research and expected the game to be something it isn't

  42. UPDATE: Taking it straight up seems to reliably fix the issue I'm pretty sure bumping the Nimbatus does it. I'm on repetition 5 and this has worked every time. Hovering just below the ship doesn't seem to help. Edit: Alternate hypothesis is that the impact knocks the sensors out of alignment, and that quick toggle resets it. I'm unable to repeat this "fix" with a single central sensor (like in the drone file I sent.)

  43. Hello there! So I know it is a big ask, believe me, but I do notice you have a LOT of biomes and I especially notice the cacti in the dry grassland areas of the game. I was curious as cacti are found in deserts and it got me thinking: what about a new biome with new traits to compliment it. With the new birds update, it made me think. We have mammals covered on all bases, we now have bird parts to play around with, so why not add reptiles with the new desert biome? I believe it would be really cool as we could have scale-bodied creatures with a higher defense, or creatures with lizard faces that would help in the desert area, or even a crocodile evolution trait. The posibilities are endless and I think it would be an amazing idea, but again it is a big ask and/or task, so my hopes are not high. I love the game though, and hope to see many awesome new things!   44. I like this, cause everyone will be happier after this! People who want an easier game can switch the predators off etc. and people who want more challenge in their gameplay can have it by taking something like "Creatures can only eat meat" This also helps with the challenges! Great idea!

  45. I think adding an apple tree would be cool, because we currently only have two sources of food from trees; nuts and apes. The ladder is only on one island, and is hard to fight, so I feel an apple tree that gave 2-3 food when gathered from would be interesting! Maybe you could gather them with only two gathering ability, but you'd get less food like berry bushes? :0
