I present to you: the Axolotl Head and Axolotl Leg. Axolotl Head Stats: +Water breathing +2 Fishing Unlocked by: Inviting a creature with this gene into your tribe, Swimming 50 times, Fishing 50 times The head would look like an Axolotl's. Axolotl Leg: +2 Swimming +Regeneration (Explained below) Unlocked by: Inviting a creature with this gene into your tribe, Regenerating 20 times Regenerating: If a creature with Axolotl Leg is injured, the damage will not affect the creature's lifespan. Instead, it will 'cut off' the Axolotl Leg (if the creature has two, it will be random which one gets affected), making the creature like it doesn't have a leg there (not even a Deformed Paw). This will also take away the stats that the leg gives. After 5 days, the leg will be restored, along with it's stats. Note: If the creature is attacked after the leg has been 'cut off', and the creature does not have a second copy, the damage will be taken as it would normally.(i.e. takes some days off the creature's lifespan. Another note: The leg is only damaged if the creature's lifespan would be affected otherwise (i.e. if Defense would normally make an attack not affect the creature, then the leg will not be affected either.)3 points

Oh my gosh, that is beautiful! I love the mask pattern so much, there's so many beautiful possibilities I got such a cute little guy as my starter on a save I was just doing to help work out which island I wanted to move to next (and of course he has the mask :D), I'm gonna be sad to say goodbye to him (maybe I'll backup his save so I can play with him later)3 points

This is only accessible through snow mountain islands. If you get to the very top and your creature has two wings with enough flight energy(explained later), you can go there. It looks like a patch of clouds. You would also need enough cold resistance, as it is as cold as a snowy mountain island. - Flight energy The amount of turns you can fly (does appear on creatures with one wing, though they can't fly) If these turns run out and you are on a cloud island, you will fall and take damage relating to the distance fallen If you have 8 or more energy, it is unlimited. There is a new "Broken wing" debuff which happens whens a nicheling with too little energy falls from the sky. With this debuff, you can not fly. It lasts 5 days. New feathered tail gene that gives an additional 1 energy and adds an attraction boost just like the peacock tail Stage 1 wings give 0 energy, Stage 2 wings give 1 energy,(etc.) (The stage increases 1 each turn, starting in stage 1, ending in stage 5) Nests can not be made on clouds because of the last bullet shown above. Now for the cool stuff - Flora (None) - Fauna (Little) Rabid Nicheling (Just like a wanderer, except gone rabid due to the sparse amounts of food) Blue Bird (Will attack ANY nicheling here) Wanderer Rouge Male (One upside is that it will have two wings, though here, this is EXTREMELY rare.) Small Bird (Like the bunnies on a normal island, except this biome You may also go back at any time.2 points

I’m kinda confused as you can’t get home island immunity from anywhere but Adam, his family, or a resteted bloodline on story mode. I get the point that it’s super rare, just not the analogy for how rare. Anyways, I think this concept would work best with the more sandbox options. It would be a toggleable option for those who don’t want to worry about sickness or immunity and would replace all immunity genes with the world wide immunity gene. Also if it’s not like the way I proposed, I think it shouldn’t let you be immune to doubled up immunity making it more of a challenge to keep.2 points

Drone Editor UI: Box select Click and drag on the editor background to select all parts within Shift-select Shift click multiple parts to select Double-click select Selects all of the same type. Would be useful for mass editing (e.g. changing the fire button of all placed weapons of type "Basic Blaster" Change root Will change the root of the selected part(s). If I have a 10 thrusters connected to a fuel tank and I want to get right of the fuel tank I would now be able to remove the tank without removing the thrusters or having to change their root Drone Parts: Struts (i.e. Kerbal Space Program) Connect two parts to add rigidity, similar to the single built in strut but add weight, drag, etc Smaller logic pieces I often like to build really compact ships and the size of the logic components limits this Weapon Editor More ammo types With the addition of burning and freezing, I feel like a lot of my combat weapons are kinetic because of the damage Rare drops Weapon Types New or hybrid weapon types, not available at the beginning Weapon Upgrades Have two trees for Research and Discovered upgrades. Once you research certain upgrades, you can find upgrades that are better (within parameters) or have a combination of two other upgrades Could be spawned on planets randomly to promote exploration once2 points

This would be huge. It sounds so deadly. But so fun. But what happens if preds wander everywhere? Rere: Oh hey Kuro remember that balance bear we saw when we were kids? Kuro: Yeah but we moved from the mountains to the savannah. Rere: I guess it followed us. Kuro: Crap.2 points

Drinking would be a new action that you could do with water. Nicheling could drink only when it's hot. When you drink you would get the cool down effect for two days. Drinking salt water would make nichelings sick, or feeling bad other ways. It wouldn't help with heat. I would like to hear a little sound effect of drinking nicheling. Thanks to: Jojo for the salt water idea and Sheireen for the idea, that drinking could give cooldown effect for 1-2 days. (Before that I said that drinking wouldn't take any gems. This idea solved my proplem.)1 point

so um this is wierd and frustating since the lava update(the recent one) everytime im trying to create a new weapon it just don t work im trying (on a new created word) to make a freezing lazer but somehow it just now working ill explain the detail to know - ive deleted every starter weapon to create my own - my first weapon is a blaster whit kinectic ammo and -20 power, speed 1 and damage 1 - i did not rename the weapon - that weapon succesfully created and i don t have any problem whit - second weapon that im trying to create is a long lazer whit cryo ammo and -20 power and damage 1 - this weapon created whit the name of the first weapon but ive rename it and PRESS ENTER (if not the name don t register and it annoing) - when exiting the tech tree i see the 2 weapon in the weapon folder - i select the weapon , put it on my drone and then keybinding it - i want more so i do Ctrl-C , Ctrl-v . . . and then here start the wierdness for some reason it copy paste the blaster -.- then im trying it again and the same thing happen im trying to save the drone ,quit the file and relog the save and. . . selecting the drone edit the drone go in weapon and my laser is not there anymore trying to find it in the tech tree and nothing so ive try to restart the game thinking it was a corrupt loading abd the same thing happen. . . it kinda sad but also it a closed alpha so expect some major bug like this one1 point

Short answer: Make hammerheads have brainfreeze! (The deadly kind!) Long answer: Hammerheads have made a great addition to Nimbatus, don’t get me wrong. The far more challenging battle strategy really does add a healthy amount of difficulty to the game. However, I would have assumed that as a lava based creature, it should be challenged by colder conditions, such as cryo guns. However, since hammerheads have two parts, a head and a tail, you still need to freeze the back half to have a significant effect, and it is mostly undeterred by cold climates. I believe that freezing the head of hammerheads should have the same affect as freezing the tail, and even have cold conditions cause damage to them, as you would expect for a lava based creature. Same goes for the mini-mmer heads (which seem to have no counters and are extremely painful).1 point

Niche has a lot of food sources as it is, but it is still missing insects for food! So, I present to you, the ant hill. -The Ant Hill- The ant hill is much like a rock. It stays on a tile and you can't stand on it. It can be destroyed by creatures with a digging claw, who can tear up the entire thing. In itself, the ant hill does not do that much. However, it has another feature: -The Ant Trail- The ant trail is gonna be the most in-depth idea of this 3 part suggestion. It'll spawn from the ant hill. Every day, it expands 2 tiles. Where to? To the most nearby berry bush! When it reaches the berry bush, it'll stop expanding for 3 days. After these 3 days, the trail will continue, until it finds every berry bush on the island. You might be asking; 'But what's the point of this? What effect will this have?' Now, when the berry bush is under 'control' of the ants, it'll produce fewer berries when you skip a turn. So on a normal weather day, it'll only generate 1 berry instead of the usual 2. When it rains, it'll only generate half of the berries it normally would with a full regrowth. This means that if you leave an ant hill untreated, it'll 'control' every berry bush on your island, depriving your nichelings of food. Of course, there is a way to counter the ants. Standing on the trail, you can stomp the ants, removing the trail from that tile. Keep in mind that the trail expands 2 tiles per day, so your nichelings will be losing at least 2 turns per day keeping the ants in the hill. It isn't ideal, but with 1 creature you can control the ants at their base using this method. Of course, just destroying the ant hill would be the best. Or maybe not! -The Pangolin Snout- excuse the bad drawing The pangolin snout would add a scaly snout with a long, thin tongue. It is the absolute best way to not only eat the ants, but to form a monopoly over them. The pangolin snout adds the ability to eat ants from their trails, but you have to approach it tactically. Eating ants would give you 2 food points. It removes the trail from the tile, but unlike stomping the ants you wouldn't have to stand on the trail to eat them. You could also stand next to it, like with digging roots. This way you can easily control the trail while getting 4 food per turn. but if you have multiple nichelings with the snout, you could do more. Take this; an island with 5 berry bushes and an ant hill. The ants go to the first one, then the second, then the third, fourth, and fifth. Your nichelings just watched the ants take all the berry bushes on the island. But here comes the pangolin snout. 5 pangolin nichelings go to the berry bush. They all cut off the end of the trail to their berry bush, giving them 20 food points. Then they harvest the berries with their 1 move left. Because the ants don't reach the berry bush in the night, it regens 2 berries as usual. Per turn, this gives you 30 food points per turn with 5 nichelings and 5 berry bushes. -The End- So, I hope you all like this idea! Feel free to expand on it in the comments or any problems you have with it! Thank for reading.1 point

This way it would work even better. The current one works well, but it has room for improvement.1 point

(Out of competition) Yet it is pretty buggy, OmegaRouge prolly gonna make a mod that is gonna shorten time of making those from 2.5h (plus 3.5 hours due to 3 crashed and starting from beggining) to 20 mins also would like to see dynamic buffers (Like dynamic thrusters, but changing buffering time) 2018-07-13 21-45-48.mp4 snek.nimbatusdrone1 point

one way i saw someone wanting to implement it would be adding a + icon for more fields. so if you want one more output you click + once. if you want 10 more outputs you click it 10 times. that would be cool1 point

Yes, they would only spawn on certain islands of course. They'd be relatively rare, and maybe if they prove too difficult they could also be destroyed by a high enough strength?1 point

underground is a system of trails, dead ends and occasional nests and food. flora(kinda) Bush roots(functions like the bush itself, instead giving material) Tree roots(does nothing except creating a large hollow chamber that can be used as living space) tarotato tuber (in volcano biomes, functions like the actual tarotato which gives 5 food if the creature has digging, regrows after 2 days) Carnivorous roots (traps and eats your nichelings, looks like food) Mycelia (grows poisonous mushrooms, 1 every day, each one gives 2 food) (New) Healing bulb (spawns under healing flowers, does the same thing but takes 10 days to regenerate) FAUNA Bunnils(can escape to the surface through holes) Stagmoles(can pop out of the bottom of their holes too) Giant earthworm (when killed, gives 50 food, exceedingly rare, needs 5 strength to kill, lives for 75 days) stats: 1 movement 1 digging 1 tunneling 10 smelling 5 gathering poison resistance Toxic spray(applies venom to a creature) diet: anything that moves(it tries at least), dead things and mushrooms predators: carnivorous roots, Burrowing owlparrot(lone one is toast), nichelings(lone ones are toast), Pythadillo lizard(Snaps the worm in two, eats one half and the other scurries away), badgerbats(lone one is toast) counter: the way this creature attacks is by engulfing its target, which takes 5 days to digest, but it has no other defenses but to flee, only one strong attack is needed to rip it open and free the creature Burrowing owlparrot🦉 (functions the same as the one in community voting), can fly out of the underground caverns too Pythadillo lizard(enters through burrows of its prey, will attempt to hunt the earthworms too) The Badgerbat🦇, the stone cold vicious driller killer of the underground, (just call it the badgerbat) 3 attack 1 defense 4 flight 1 tunneling 4 movement(walks in the underground) 2 swimming easy movement(ability to dodge, works 25% of the time) 3 digging 5 hearing 2 sight 3 smelling (new addition)Venom resistance DIstasteful appearance intimidating call(lowers attack of target by 3) food given: 15 each lives for: 60 days growth stages: baby(5 days) -> juvenile (5 days) -> adolescent (5 days) -> adult (45 days) Special abilites: when this creature attacks a target, they suffer heavy bleeding(does not work on Owlparrots, Parravens, bluebirds and creatures with higher defense than their attack) when attacked, all other Badgerbats will detect the attacker and attack it diet: essentially anything smaller than a nicheling, and fruits predators: adult bearyenas, Bluebirds and balance bears(rarely), Burrowing Owlparrots, Pythadillo lizard Tamed💜 Badgerbat how to get: feed 5 food to a baby or juvenile badgerbat abilities: identical to a normal badgerbat special: will guard young, sick or old nichelings and hunt with you Badgerbat genes: Badgerbat face +Distasteful appearance +2 strength +intimidating call Badgerbat Wing +4 flight per pair +2 movement +1 digging Badgerbat ears +4 hearing +echolocation(lets you move by hearing alone) Special genes: Dark-seeing eyes(Or maybe Nocturnal eyes) 2 night vision 1 sight unlock conditions: spend 50 days in the underground biome with one or more creatures, is broken if all leave Tunneling body 1 Tunneling(enables creation of chambers underground in a drawing, almost EOU style, if the creature also has digging, then it enables the creation of more chambers in one turn, the creature will also move to the furthest chamber dug) 1 digging1 point

wow, thanks JAM Pheonix the 30 food worm is EXCEPTIONALLY RARE and spawns EXTREMELY RARELY(AS IN ABSURDLY RARELY), similar to real life giant earthworms, maybe it can scurry away or literally engulf one of your nichelings to try to kill it? then it will be a predator also your friendly badgerbat idea is awesome and I will add it soon(done now) and Randomwander, I never thought of that, cool, mostly coz I made this before the flying update in the niche wiki1 point

If it opens a door to more gameplay modes, it's awesome.1 point

That sounds amazing and really well thought out! As a major update, after the flight genes, it seems the natural choice.1 point

That sounds fun as a killer island, but also problematic to implement. As mentioned, the predators wandering too much would be bad, but so would be too little or an easily tricked game mechanic. In addition, leaving your creatures behind in search if a new island is part of the game play experience. Sure, you can modify 5 features to create a new gameplay mode, but wouldn't you want new features, new content? I am not sure about this one.1 point

I love how you keep putting out these suggestions! But, they need a little more time and thought. Maybe some descriptions too. Don't get me wrong, I like all the new ideas, but without more.. like.. uhhh... Descriptions of what it is, what it will look like, people don't know what you're thinking. Like, how would wolf fangs be different from poison fangs or saber tooth fangs? And how would the tail look? If you want upvotes, your ideas need more depth to them. But feel free to keep putting them! We learn as we go on!1 point

So basically, my friend was doing a siren tribe. She left and came back after a few hours, and she had a recent baby. And suddenly, the mother was a baby as well. A pic of the mother's family tree --------------------------------------------------------------- And a pic of her behind her child.. as a child. No idea what happened.1 point

As others have said, -2 vision is pretty onerous unless nichelings can navigate by other senses. As things stand that would mean a completely wasted day. And actually... in a thunderstorm, you're safer when you're NEAR a tree. You're in the most danger when you're part of the shortest path between the sky and the ground. There could be penalties for standing out in the open, perching on trees and stumps, and/or being at higher elevations than your surroundings, but you should actually benefit from being UNDER a tree's branches. Hail is a bit rough, but perhaps a fair portrayal of truly harsh conditions. As an additional weather type, what about Strong Winds? It could either shift the region all animals smell to one side, or simply decrease their smell range by 1.1 point
-
This is a really cool idea, though I think that maybe the mycelia should be poisonous so that only poison fanged nichlings can eat it1 point
-
Honestly... I agree. It would only make sense considering that anything else that attacks the pup insta-kills it. however there has to be some kind of safety on this kind of thing: I can only imagine the horror as players accidentally kill off their newborns after this goes up. Mayhaps one can only do this action on an omega, for example. And the button be a different color... maybe with a warning/confirmation window too. and two players have to turn the keys simulta-ok I'm done1 point

I also think we could be able to design our own islands, like what they look like, what climate they have, what biome, or we could mix and match, like have a mountain biome but the climate was super hot, like a desert.1 point
