  1. *Very loud squealing* Oh I'm so exited, all the new additions looks so good. My top 3 favorite would probably be Horn growth, Scroll able family trees, and the new water biomes. Cudos to you guys, the first update is up and your already getting started on the next one. CANT WAIT!!!!!

  2. The sound of crackling flames and the smell of smoke are pretty alarming to most wild animals. This should be reflected in the game by flames that show red to both senses.

  3. I agree. I have a save named 'snowy explorers' but they aren't even a snow tribe anymore. In addition, I have a bunch of files titled 'new game' (some of them aren't really new anymore).

  4. it sounds kinda interesting. definetly nice for rp purposes but I don't think it would fit in the concept of Niche

  5. Thank you I guess that's the fun and challenge of being a game designer If I don't at least try to find a good solution it would be boring. At least spend some time thinking of alternative solutions before just taking the things everyone does and has accepted as the only solution (at least until we run out of time )

  6. Does that really increase the difficulty? I think it just increases the time it takes to get to the same point (parts and tech). Grinding resources as a timesink don't make the game harder, just more 'annoying'. It could be an additional option to resort to, but grinding can't be the only thing to change with difficulty. @Markus Ich wünsche dir viel Glück die eierlegende Wollmilchsau zu erfinden! (I wish you good luck inventing the thing i don't know how to translate😅... egglaying woolmilkpig?)

  7. this could be very fun. but it would probably be hard to implement. still upvote! would the dead but not totally dead nichelings have to collect food for themselves and could they get killed? also i feel like you got inspiration for this from somewhere....

  8. This seems quite unbalanced. Paws have no rec. genes, either. The requested genes don't add much novelty, but are hard to implement. Not exactly what the devs aim for. I can see these animals as competion on the harder islands, though. That would go well with the added trees, which they would "protect". Some people have talked out rival tribes, how about a rival species? They wouldn't need to be bound to the hot islands, either. The swamps could use some more life. Some modification here and there and it could work very well as a smaller update.

  9. That sounds fun as a killer island, but also problematic to implement. As mentioned, the predators wandering too much would be bad, but so would be too little or an easily tricked game mechanic. In addition, leaving your creatures behind in search if a new island is part of the game play experience. Sure, you can modify 5 features to create a new gameplay mode, but wouldn't you want new features, new content? I am not sure about this one.

  10. I think this would be a really cool idea, but maybe it can be a gamemode all by itself, like continent mode, since it would be very hard to traverse that long distance to go to the port you wanted.

  11. This would be huge. It sounds so deadly. But so fun. But what happens if preds wander everywhere? Rere: Oh hey Kuro remember that balance bear we saw when we were kids? Kuro: Yeah but we moved from the mountains to the savannah. Rere: I guess it followed us. Kuro: Crap.

  12. A detachable part that creates a beacon (a blip or ping would be perfect) on the planet map. My idea is that you can identify places of interest (large resource deposits, bio barrels, collectible materials or chests, etc) and navigate back to them easily.

  13. I think this could be a cheat code you could toggle on and off. It would allow you to play as your deceased nichelings. Perfect for people who want to stay with thier nichelings forever, or at least, for a little while. Once they disappear off the tree in the world of the living, they will grow a 25-day long lifespan bar. When they die here, they are forgotten in the world of the living. Their icon appears with a flaming circle around it instead of a black one. You can switch between the two worlds using space if this is enabled. If it is disabled, space just ends the day like normal. When a nicheling falls off the family tree of the living and you have a pregnant female, the fallen nicheling will have the ability to bless the female with a reincarnation of themself. This is performed if you have a life bar in the world of the dead. You will see a "..." icon under the space you are on. When you click it, you will then see an icon with an angel on it. When you click this, it will bring up a list of your pregnant females in the layout of your family tree. There will be another angel icon on the bottom-right corner of the list, above the abilities. When you click it, the pregnant icon will become a "blessed pregnancy" buff, alowing you to go to any discovered nest, at the cost of all your action points. When the baby is born, it will be a spitting image of the forgotten nicheling, the nicheling will disappear from the dead world, and when the new reincarnation dies, They immediately disappear from the living family tree and the world of the dead, though they will still be on the dead tree. There will also be ghostly wanderers. If they are from your family, this means you are on the same island of different worlds. Your live nichelings will get a reunited buff that adds 5 stealth and 3 attack. This lasts 5 days or until your dead or live leave. When they are on the same island again, it won't last 5 days. If you were together on the previous island 4 days, it would last 1 day. Other wanderers are rare, like, excruciatingly rare, as they are like rouge males, except good. However, your kid will have a 50/50% chance to be instantly dead and ghosted, though they will be on the living tree. How does this sound? Reply below! -=- Special Credits -=- bostonlobstah for these ghostly wanderers

  14. but Niche is about genetics and not about any mythological and open for debate things like afterlife a lot of people rp it like the ancestors are guiding the tribe and some ascend to godhood -I do too- but I think these things should only come from the player side and not from any game mechanics. in wildlife, dead is dead. and game mechanics wise it would feel a bit cheaty if one of your females got attacked by a rouge but don't worry, you can just let the baby be your deceased favourite instead however, I would like if you could 'save' a handful of your favourites and have them have a rare chance to spawn/reincarnate as wanderers. custom name included

  15. They would only have to collect food and get damaged when they have a life-span bar. I also got inspiration of this from the mexican Day of the Dead. I think adding this will add some more of a mix to Niche. Plus this is a toggleable cheat code.

  16. What I think would be cool are deceased Nichelings appearing as ghostly wanderers (you can’t invite them into the tribe). Maybe they are just for fun or maybe they provide benefits i think reincarnations would be cool too

  17. Cool idea. Especially the blessing one

  18. Very true, actually. I guess extra grinding would be a part of the difficulty, like you mentioned, as it will take you longer to make a decent drone and you will have to do missions with a pathetic one. I think you mean the gold egg laying goose, or simply say to find the silver lining (best possible solution that covers all problems)

  22. I think Philo once said that the babies will follow you around not sure about the teen phase, maybe it is actuallly connected, that would be super cool

  23. hmmm they never follow my nicheling long maybe a day by coincidence, but with the bearyena head he seems to be doing it until adulthood

  24. I feel you. I have a tribe named As because the letters are conveniently placed on the keyboard. Or I have a bunch of safes just staring with one letter and that can get really confusing ^^

  25. Baby Bearyenas usually follow a Nicheling around until they are adults, not sure if it connected to how many bearyena genes your Nicheling has

  26. yeah i just named a save "new" and then later i realized it wasn't really new but it is still named that..... im still playing it XD.

  27. Yes, they would only spawn on certain islands of course. They'd be relatively rare, and maybe if they prove too difficult they could also be destroyed by a high enough strength?

  28. I love this idea! The snout is so cute. Maybe ants don't spawn on easy or cold islands? They're nice, but I don't want my whole gameplay to be controlled by them

  29. I like your concept for ants! They work similarly/well with these posts too: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/775-insectivorous-nichelings/ https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/815-insect-island/ https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/616-gene-suggestion-prehensile-tongue/

  30. These genes are a little close to the originals by themselves. There has been a request for an underground tunnel system, I can see night genes fitting perfectly into that idea. Which and what stats they should have is more complicated. I suppose we'll just have to see.

  31. how about instead of using lots of energy, it uses resources (not from your stash, but collected and still onboard your drone)?

  34. @DethLazrs4Lyfe The problem was that if the distance sensor is detecting something while the game is still loading it does not fire the event unless it gets triggered again. Will be fixed in a patch later today

  35. Ok, so I'm pretty excited about several of these, but is it bad that the one I want most is the notification update for the mutation menu?

  37. I think our blind Nichelings should be able to move at least limited (if they could move just the same as the other Nichelings then there'd be no need for the blindness genes so limited movement) especially because wandering blind Nichelings just zip around like squirrels on crack.

  38. good idea! it would be awesome if you could have a couple of these on a drone and have multiple little drones docked with their own drone brains so you could switch between different drones for different purposes. (eg. a drone for digging, fighting, and resource collecting)

  39. Yey, I'm great at making things OP.

  40. Also this(ties into my own ideas): Mezmi: Hey Korais, remember that Killer bearyena we saw when we were 2? Korais: yup, but mom lead us to the mountains from that deadly grassland Mezmi: Korais, look behind you(use 1 claw finger to point at it) Korais: Dammit Tata!, you and your ALBINISM! Tata(a flying gilled nicheling in a nearby tree, also their brother): *Snickers while eating a nut*

  41. honestly the servah has op parts and does op things, it makes the bearyena parts look like dirt, maybe you could nerf them, like make them do less damage because with high speed, you need to lose weight to prevent yourself from being slowed down, and that means offensive weaponry like claws and teeth are usually much weaker or smaller on faster creatures, for example, compare leopards and cheetahs, and eagles and falcons honestly it looks like the Servah, judging by its parts would kill everything honestly(except maybe pythadillo lizards because of ambushes), but being super recessive doesn't just stop something from being op(ie armored body, megaloceros horns and saber teeth)
