  1. And they could randomly pop up again maybe after a rainstorm or something to simulate branches falling from the jungle trees

  2. I am tired of having to watch my step around stick piles. I'm not an expert at surviving in the jungle yet, but I'm always afraid of attracting the Hearing Ape by stepping on stick piles. More often, I run into carnivorous plants because I tried to step around the stick pile without smelling first. Can't we just use it as nesting material? It would save me a lot of trouble if I could remove the stick piles. So that this doesn't become OP, make stick piles still remove stealth when you're removing them. Edit: Jojo suggested that stick piles fall from trees after a rainstorm, and I think that’s a wonderful idea.

  6. @Pokestardragacraft I suppose that would be something interesting to think about. Disabling them completely may be something, but then what if you actually get it later in the game without the help of this idea? I was just thinking like maybe within a certain number of generations or days, the ability to unlock these achievements could be allowed (or a better word, unlocked) again. Things like creatures with 5+ heat or cold resistance as an achievement problem maybe could be allowed to be created, however, those ones created in the editor wouldn't count (and again the allowance to get achievements based on characters could be enabled later in gameplay). An idea following on that would be that you could select these genetics (perhaps heat body and medium tail or other heat resistant items) and when you do, a warning would pop-up, saying something like: "This creatures in-game descendants won't have the ability for X amount of generations/days to unlock genetic achievements." One final idea, nearly the opposite of the last, would be greying out genetic items that would complete an achievement. An example of this, being for 5+ heat resistance (King of the Mountains), would be you select heat body and the editor would then grey out the other items that maybe finish the achievement (again, medium tail, Mammut foot, and other later implemented items). When you then put your mouse over these items a little line of text would appear saying something along the lines of: "This genetic item cannot be used because it would complete the ____ (in our case example, 'King of the Mountains') achievement." Just a few ideas, I'm sure there are plenty more ways this can be worked around.

  7. So basically, it would be quite faster to build drones if the rotation would lock to jumps of 45 degree at a time while holding shift for exampleé
    2 points
  8. You mean if you use the [shift] and mouse-wheel simultaneously? Sounds like a good suggestion, upvoted Also note that you can use the [ , ] and [ . ] key to rotate in 45 degree steps.

  9. this would be awsome! how much food would the swoopagon drop when killed? would the alpha preadators double their lifespawn? can a swoopagon become alpha? maybe if there was an alpha bearyena its child could also be apha and when you breed with it it could would have a super rare chance to give an alpha gene that would double the nichelings stats. that gene would give a reason to venture into the nightmare islands and you would have to wait and fight many alphas before even haveing the chance to get a baby alpha bearyena.

  10. Why do these exist. This is a question that I ask myself a lot when I look at stock photos. The first one looks very happy about that coconut, the second one... I can't even describe it's so confusing.

  11. I saw someone on Youtube mentioning that certain elements in Nimbatus are very hard to see and understand if you are colorblind. We don't have someone with that in our development team, so need the help of the community to resolve this issue. If you have a certain color sensibility: Can you point out what part / feature is hard to understand? We would love to have a growing list of such issues, so that we can fix it when we have time or prevent it from the start when we create new content. If you have an issue, it would be very helpful if you could provide a screenshot and point out the problems. Disclaimer: Currently until the early-access release we don't have time focusing on this issue, as we revamp the gameplay & progression system in the game. This is something we might only can address later during the early-access phase, maybe close to the full-launch when we begin fixing and polishing the game (and the gameplay is relative fixed). Still: This is an important issue and the more information we can gather until that time the easier it is for us to implement and fix it. Thank you for your support Problematic parts known so far: Resource: Depending on the sensibility, the 1st (Yellow) and 3rd resource (Blue) are hard to differentiate. Things we might change in the game, if we have time: Add different textures/structures to resources, so they are easier to differentiate Add unique icons to each biome on the worldmap, so they are easier to differentiate

  13. Here's the 6th GIF competition! This time, it's a LOGIC this round The best two designs win a Steam key for the Closed Alpha of Nimbatus. Deadline to enter is Wednesday, 1st of August. (Winners will be announced shortly after). Here are the rules: Post your design here in this thread. Multiple entries per person are allowed. Old non-winning GIFs are allowed as well. Only drones recorded made with the demo version are allowed in this competition. Please only post designs here if you participate in the contest. If not participating, please use this thread instead. @Roger, @Markus, @Micha and @Philo will pick 2 favorites. There will be only awarded one key per person. If you won in a previous contest, we won't award you another key. Please note: You can use [F9] to generate an animated GIF of the last 6 seconds gameplay, but feel free to use other tools. This time, the best ideas/constructions win! The GIF itself is not super important. Just make sure we all understand why your design is smart/interesting/new/cool/... You can also upload your drone here if you like! We maybe show some of these cool gifs on Twitter, Reddit, etc. Please only post here if that's ok with you. Tipp 1: The GIF capture tool hides bad framerates. If you turn off the Bloom because of performance reasons, turn them on before recording the GIF. The game might have a low frame rate, but the resulting GIF should run smoothly and might result in nicer looking GIF because of the effects. Tipp 2: If you press F9, please wait until the "Generate GIF" message disappears, otherwise your recorded GIFs might get corrupted. Press F9 and wait, and then it should result in a 6 seconds long GIF.

  14. Let's add an option to make some sort of templates from a bunch of parts. Those templates can be organised in a list like weapons and are always accessable in the editor (button to toggle on/off) independent of the drone that is edited right now. Probably the list should have some decent sorting functions to find the right thing. Like search for thrusters, weapons and stuff.

  15. I absolutely love the jungle, but I hope it gets more fauna, so far it only has apes and nichelings, it has plenty of empty ecological niches any creature could fill. I also love the apes and like to think of them as guardians and protectors. If you feel like a threat, they will get rid of you, but if you have the genes that let you fit in the jungle, they let you be and even protect you.

  18. Just updated my Niche yesterday and everything seemed fine and smooth... until i realized my savefile from before updating Niche is still in version 1.0.1. I saw a youtuber, Jessimew, changing her series, Adam's Quest, from 1.0.1 to 1.4.1 so i know it is possible, but i don't know how to do it. Can someone help me please?

  19. This is "Fast flee". It turns from a howercraft in to a mouse controled drone. I am very proud how it turned out. Here it looks like a howercraft and it controls like a howercraft. Here i turn off the part that makes the howercraft float and using space key it detaches from it and becomes a mouse controled drone. And after flying in the mouse control mode with space it returns in to the howercraft mode and when it goes in to the hower thing you turn on the magnet and it is a normal howercraft again. It can turn in to the mouse controled mode and back forever. Most of the logic gates switch betwene the two direction sensors. I am not very good with logic gates so it took me lot of time to make. (sorry for bad grammar, my home language is not english thanks for understanding)

  20. Basically a logic switch that presses a key when global battery levels go below a certain level (and another logic part for fuel). This way, you can for example turn off shields when battery becomes low (and TONS of other possibilities).

  23. This is you background image for the Nimbatus forum. I was just wondering if this has anything to do with the real game. I am asking because under further inspection I discovered things that aren't actually in the game yet. For example, i saw a lot of transmitter style buildings and in a crowd of transmitter protectors i saw what looked like a small boss thing. And none of this is to mention the crocodile thing in the other enemy side. So please clarify with me if this relates to any further in game features. Sincerely, Neological Gamer.

  24. The buildings are still waiting for a bettter implementation system that adds value to the gameplay. It's just not on the priority list. The bug (or as you call it - the crocodile thing) is from the demo and will eventually be in there, too. We just didn't do much on the jungle planet lately while working for the lava biome and the heating/cooling systems.

  25. (Out of competition) Yet it is pretty buggy, OmegaRouge prolly gonna make a mod that is gonna shorten time of making those from 2.5h (plus 3.5 hours due to 3 crashed and starting from beggining) to 20 mins also would like to see dynamic buffers (Like dynamic thrusters, but changing buffering time) 2018-07-13 21-45-48.mp4 snek.nimbatusdrone

  28. One of the things I find annoying is that when I build a drone that's symmetrical I build one half and then have to tediously create the second half. I think a solution to this would be to have an option in the editor to mirror drones by creating and dragging/changing angle of a line of reflection. This would also be useful for drones that are not symmetrical, but are similar on both sides so that all you have to do is swap out a few parts.

  29. Great idea! Even though I'm not sure how to visualize the interface for that so it's not getting in the way of normal gameplay.

  35. 3 Balance Bears, Bearyena (just killed it), Blue Birds, Rogue Males, and now ram foxes...? I've been rolling a number for how many pack members I can have at a time, and currently, it's 5. Gosh the dramas this pulled out XD At first I had twin boys on top of the nest on the tree. But one of them had to go down into the middle of 3 balance bears if they wanted to grow up. Fate can be so cruel... (The other twin brother grew up in the tree. You can see on the left. I didn't let him down, 'cause they can't come back up, AND their attacks are so low they can't even attack the bears)
