  1. This is such an intriguing concept! I love the idea of sharing Nichelings with other players - though part of me hopes there would be a workaround for people who wouldn't or couldn't trade, should it include new and special genes. Since this isn't an online game, I'm sure it would be very frustrating to suddenly feel forced to track down genes beyond your own game. I'm very interested, though! I'd love to see where this goes.

  4. @bostonlobstah The new bears were designed by Kickstarter backers ^^ We'll post some work in progress screenshots of them soon. @Snowy Owl I think we'll keep this discussion going for quite a while I hope that we can contiously add new things to the sandbox customization, not just this once.

  5. With this option you have the ability to set what is allowed in in your game. Tired of bright ruby red nichlings with white spots looking like a mushroom? Just turn the combination red fur with white dots off. You also can control genes too! You can have a game made of only derp snouted fishes if you want.

  6. You could set yourself a tribe size limit, that you could change during game (if you watch Niche: Whims of fate, you know why this is needed). When your tribe is full, you can't invite wanderers. You can have your nichelings mate, but no babies will be born before there's room in the tribe. If you have multiple females on nest, but not enough room in the tribe for all of the babies, the females with he highest rank will give birth first. If you have too many females of the highest rank, the oldest ones give birth first. You can't set the tribe limit smaller than your tribe is. You'll need to get rid of your extra creatures before making the limit smaller.

  7. It would be cool if you could store the creatures you like in your own library, then be able to send them to other players from there!

  8. i hope so, because that would be fun, being able to decide how old your nichelings, then you can make them as long or short lived as you want. if this gets in i hope you can choose like you said DogCatCowPig. it would also create some interesting challenges. like you can only have nichelings live as adults for 10 days.

  9. Not yet. We'll watch the discussion some more before we decide what to add first

  10. I would love that! I love the blind genes challenge but it has become so cumbersome since we only can rename Nichelings from the family tree, so that would be great

  11. Sometimes I feel like it's more fun when there's not very much food, you know? When you have 1000 food and 40 Nichelings (like my tribe), you don't really feel like you're trying to survive, you're just trying to get cool creatures. What I propose is a adjustable bar that you can change any time that will adjust how much food each Nicheling takes from the food counter each time the day passes. So much food you don't know what to do with it? Make your creatures take 5 food a day. Want to just make the game a little tiny bit harder? Make your creatures take 2 food a day. Additionally, maybe you could adjust how much food a specific age of creature will take- you could have babies take 1, teens take 3, etc.

  12. Maybe you could set the temperature at an island so it’s more likely to be hotter or colder. So not every day on certain islands can be zero heat. idk

  13. I remember one time I had to give up on a beautiful tribe of creatures in story mode because they lost the home island immunity. The last creature with it died before she could pass it on, and now i'm wondering if possibly there could be a second chance for when things like this happens? Possibly lost members of Adam's family could appear on different islands in rare occasions, most likely if home island immunity has disappeared.

  14. Unsure if this has been mentioned yet, but I would like to put in my ideas of what could possibly be added to the underwater world. The Underwater World is super barren right now, only being able to find seaweed, clams, rocks, fish, worms, and leeches. I have a few ideas of things that could be added to make this world much more lively. ISLANDS Basically, there'd be islands with a ton more water and lots more places to swim compared to your average big island. The island would be small, maybe the size of tiny green, while the rest of the island would be places that can be swam through by Nichelings. Take the grass mingle island for example, cut that to the size of tiny green but leave all that extra island space to the water. Picture example: PREDATORS I know that the Razorina is already somewhat of a predator, but they only attack you if you are bleeding. How about, for somewhat of a challenge, have a predator like the Bearyna that will attack you for no other purpose than food. It would have similar behavior like the Bearyna but obviously be different. This creature's name would be the Sharkidile, a cross between a shark and a crocodile. You could also find a mother with a baby and tame the baby for its genes, just like the Bearyna! Here's a picture of what I think it would look like, sorry it's kinda sloppy I rushed it: Genes you could get from a friendly Sharkidile: - Sharkidile Snout (2+ fishing, 1+ defense, 1+ smelling) - Water body (2+ swimming, 1+ scentless, underwater breathing) - Fin tail (2+ swimming, -1 Cold resistance) - Sharkidile Claw (2+ fishing, 1+ attack, 1+ swimming) - Sharkidile Eyes (2+ underwater sight, 1+ dry land sight) - Yellow Eyes - New Pattern (Overcoat color and undercoat color, affects camouflage in water, +2 camouflage) FOOD Definitely a lot more food needs to be added. More types of fish and things similar to the berry bushes on land. Examples in pics below: I'm still currently in the process of thinking of things that could be added to the underwater world of Niche. If I do get more ideas, then be sure to look for for a part 2 to this idea! Please feel free to suggest anything.

  15. I think it would be awesome to have the option to toggle the genes on and off so that we can play a "blind genes mode" in which we can't look at the genes our nichelings are carrying, to make the game more interesting and challenging. That way we could look at the family tree and change nichelings' names without having to look at the genes. It could also be activated or deactivated during the game, that way, for example, you could set yourself a goal and once you reach it you can toggle on the genes and look at them. What do you think?

  16. I have quite a few wanderer stories I want to tell. I just started a bearyena challenge tribe and started on Summer Mountains, I intend to go to the Burning Savanna and then work my way to Killer Island, where I'll try getting bearyena hybrids. Shortly after starting, I found these two wanderers! They don't share an immunity gene, but they might as well be a mother and daughter pairing. Maybe the one on the right found the one on the left, and they teamed up. Today, in a deleted save file on Deadly Hills, a mother was forced to step away from her baby, and a wanderer popped up out of nowhere and stood next to the baby. Keep in mind that there were two or three bluebirds in the sky. Yesterday, I had the bad luck of getting my mountain tribe caught in the snow almost immediately after traveling to Long Winter. A chain of events happened that killed my tribe. While there was still snow, I saw a male and female couple of wanderers nearby, waiting out the snowstorm together. I couldn't invite them, probably for the better. In that same tribe, I found a wanderer in the sea, and rescued him. I very often encounter wanderers that make me wonder if they were banished from their tribes, and it's especially obvious when I'm near the coast and a wanderer with water-related traits pops up. I told these stories before, but here are two more noteworthy stories from the cursed save file I complained about in another post: I was on Archipelago, and just as the last creature was about to cross, a blind wanderer got hit by a coconut. I was getting ready to leave Swampy Hill, and a second blind wanderer appeared. There had been a glitch where a mini jungle appeared in the middle, and I'd sent my elderly creature up there. That wanderer was also fairly old, so I sent her up to the jungle, and I like to think they had a family together.

  17. I'm so excited for all of this!! And also I love that idea of adding your own names! It's exactly what I need because I have such a huge list of names. Also, will they be separated for males and females? I have some male or female exclusive names, and some other that could work for both of them, so I'm interested in how it'll work 😊

  18. But you can't edit your creatures or breed them outside of the main game--you would only be able to look at them and their genes and be able to export them.

  19. Once, in an old tribe that has long since been deleted, I killed a female wanderer so she wouldn't take my food. The next day, a Melanistic baby/teen shows up on the bones. I made that child an ORPHAN. My creatures had pity on her and invited her into the tribe. I felt so bad...

  20. I think a second chance to maybe find a member of Adams family would be awesome! Also you could tell so many great stories with that. Like that his family are still looking for him or that he has become a legend and in spirit of him they try to find his remains. I'd love this a lot!

  21. They probably mean you can make custom names for your nichelings to generate with, rather than the standard ones they're randomized with.

  22. nice, and do you know what will be in game from what we have now?

  23. @Snowy Owl I don't know yet either But I'm pretty confident we'll find a solution for this. Maybe we could just set the duration of each life period? -> Baby 3, Child 1, Teen 5, Adult 40 or something like this ^^

  25. this is a quote from philo on another discussion called Should I start over? If you restart with the same bloodline you only get a Home Island Immunity creature if you had one in your tribe on the last island you lived on.

  26. That would make it quite hard for players like myself who play on their own... and I don't think one should face that sort of punishment for prefering to play offline.

  27. @Skysplash8 1 & 2) No, for now only for wild animals. @Jojo Don't know yet ^^ And yeah Q1 2019 is a pretty long wait. We have a release this September/October (Nimbatus Early Access Launch). Let's hope it goes well and our studio can keep existing

  29. Here is the reason why I don't like the jungle: once you have adapted to the apes nothing else ever happens. If you know what you are doing it is boring (yes in a way that is the same with every island but I feel that very strongly with the jungle) because the apes don't bother you anymore, the bearyenas (if there are any) don't really bother you and if you have breed really strong creatures again nothing really is a danger to your creatures anymore. In my opinion nothing surprises you. You don't even have bunnies or something on the pure jungle islands. Just stinky fruits, carnivurours plants and apes. In the mountains for example there is always the challenge of hunting walrus deer and they move when you move so that's pretty cool. You have winters which can be hard because of the lack of food and the snow not to mention the cold, balance bears and for me they strike the perfect balance between to strong (apes) and to weak (bearyena). You have bunnies all over the place and depending on the island moles. I just need a lot of variety in my islands and I feel like the jungle doesn't give that, though I admit it looks cool I mean I hate the jungle but I don't really want to hate on the jungle if that makes any sense XD

  30. I added the water lighting idea earlier but I have made a change. in real life I believe that you don’t have a higher chance to be directly struck by lightning, but if lightning strikes anywhere on the water it transfers to you and you get electrocuted. So maybe if lightning strikes within a certain range your Nichelings gets stunned or killed ??

  31. This would be brilliant! Would also be nice if there were large insects (tarantulas or what have you) that could poison your nichelings or even eat the baby's. It would definitely make the feature a lot less one sided in the players advantage.

  32. In my favorite tribe (the Kikonokos), we have some pretty weird Bluebirds. First of all, there's three of them. Two of them are friends... ...and two are enemies. (Bluebird Battles!) And now they're circling a tree. What's going on with these three?? Meanwhile, the Stagmoles are having parties because these birds don't seem to care about them. Note: THESE ARE ALL THE SAME BLUEBIRDS. I think they're becoming more civilized because they live above 28 (Yes, 28, I overbred) Nichelings with some weird naming traditions.

  34. When I was sending my creatures to the last "island" in the archipelago before the swamp, the first three creatures that tried to cross the water drowned. As I was leaving, a wanderer spawned on that island and got hit by a coconut. My stay at Swampy Hill was surprisingly peaceful, but when I tried to leave, a chain of events happened. I had a rogue male mate with my home star, and killed him with poison. Shortly after that, a rogue male with toxic body spawned. One creature looked very similar to his father, and I accidentally mixed them up. The path to the jungle port involved walking through a section of shallow water, and I had a creature get hit by a coconut. When I was almost there, I encountered a wanderer. I figured that this wanderer could start a family with the other creature I was leaving behind, so I sent her into the mini jungle in the center of the island... Only to have her get attacked by the carnivorous plant in the mini jungle. I've never traveled to a Rainforest island with so much jungle foliage before. I swear, there was twice as much foliage as there usually is. The river in the center was more tedious to cross than ever, in part due to the foliage and a carnivorous plant. I decided to get out as quickly as possible because there wasn't enough food. To add insult to injury, the first smelly fruit tree I encountered was surrounded in stick piles. As I was almost out, I found a wanderer who might be mistaken for a rogue male, he was blind with two bad paws and derp nose. I'm not sure why I decided to waste food on him. I am currently on Overgrown Jungle. I had a toxic rogue male mate with two of my females without me noticing, and then I had to save a creature from another carnivorous plant. The direct path to the blocking vine roots is blocked by carnivorous plants, so I have to take the long way out of the swamp. I swear, this save file is cursed.
