Quoting Micha, "Currently we dont have a competition running. We did not get much submissions the last one so we take a break. We might do some more before the release :)." Now, I understand why the devs would do this, but I just don't think they considered everything. I had wanted to join this logic competition but the task at hand seemed too daunting for someone with little logic knowledge like myself. Also, the idea I had was more of an aesthetics build than one of cleverness, which is what the competition was based upon. As a result, I had just decided to wait till the next competition to show my creation. The reason I am saying this is because others who wanted to join most likely had the same thoughts, causing the low amount of submissions. Due to the unusual nature of this specific competition, it's set apart from the rest and should not warrant a break. State your thoughts in the comments to convince Philo and Markus to start another one soon! (Or don't, I'm just some random guy on the internet who likes competitions and free stuff) Thank you.3 points

This goes hand in hand with a setting to change the lifespan of your Nichelings. If a Nicheling lives for, say, 40 days or longer, being able to give birth on the day after breeding feels a little overpowered. Why not add in the option to change the pregnancy duration, so a female can only give birth two days after breeding, or make the waiting time even longer, depending on your preference and wish for realism?2 points

The basic idea is that a tribe such as Adam's inhabits the same islands you do. They want to steal your food, nests, or attack your pack under certain conditions. This was already suggested before the wings update multiple times. Is there still interest in the community concerning rival tribes? They would make the game significantly harder.2 points

I am just brainstorming what I would like to see in Sandbox. What I wanted in Sandbox was to play with the Nichelings and their genetics, and not necessarily worry about other modifiers. So I would look for things like longevity; maybe 60, 100, unlimited. Starting food, set preset options (20, 100, unlimited) or enter an integer. Same for starting nesting materials. Some islands have few natural nesting spots, so maybe a low-medium-high setting for natural nesting spots. Same for dangerous animal spawn, low-medium-high-none. A setting to unlock full mutation menu. A setting to shut off certain damages, like common cold or leeches. For some reason, I really hate when they start sneezing! Maybe a disasters setting, low-medium-high-none, for drought or fire. That is all I can think of on my wishlist, thank you.2 points

seeing so many wc fans here made me want to try them just finishing up the origanal series now. i really like em😄2 points

I think pregnancy duration is also something that should be changeable. Since it fits in well with this suggestion, I thought posting it here was a good idea. If it belongs in a topic of it's own, let me know!2 points

Well my first instinct was to say Oasis and the story was similar to Skysplash's but that would be boring so I rummaged through my brain and rembered the time when I started at the burning savannah to see if I could survive long enough for big ears and lean body (50 days), at the time that I tried it the burning savannah was still pretty new and the whole community was in dispair because it was said that you couldn't survive there longer than a few days (when starting there). So I started there and was lucky to find like four berry bushes in close proximity to each other. That was my main camp and then it became really fun. Wanderers all over the place, bearyenas all over the place, trying not to die of fire, starvation or bearyenas. That were good times though after a few generations (which went by fast considering it was an honor to be sacrificed to the cacti) it calmed down a little. We had enough claws to hunt bearyenas and somehow managed to gather enough food, so I guess until the fires burned everything to the ground I probably could have survived indefinitely. And I love the blind genes challenge, sometimes even paired with the no mutation menu challenge2 points

"Target Persistence 100" yeah I think we've all noticed that at some point XD2 points

If people are eager to create stuff with Nimbatus I don't want to hinder them, and if I can motivate them to participate in activities, the better Thank you for posting and showing that these contests are appreciated and wanted in the community ❤️ We're discussing if we want to change the system of the GIF contest to a different one which suits the community/current activity better. Please bear with us for a moment, as we're busy preparing for the Gamescom in Cologne and working hard on preparing the Early Access version Everyone, please feel free to post your thoughts or ideas here. We'll update you as soon as we have reached a conclusion and prepared everything1 point

Basically what the title says. I've always wanted to toggle things like the apes on and off, or remove carnivorous plants entirely. Do you want some more bunnils to spawn in your save file, but remove bluebirds so they can't steal the meat you get from them? Want packs of hostile Ramfoxes to roam the mountains, so your tribe has to compete with them for everything from food to space, but get rid of Balance Bears because they are a nuisance? This setting makes it possible.1 point

Just today I had the most adorable thing happen so first Kutaro showed up as a wanderer and hooked up with one of the leaders and together they founded the pink gem clan. They had a few children as you can see and this picture was taken when he was already dead for almost two generations (so glad I managed to take a picture of him) because at that time Tanunu shows up almost a perfect clone of Kutaro and that was just so sweet.1 point

I've tried a few challenges before, but my favourite has been starting in a difficult biome and trying to survive and thrive without using the console. So far I've established flourishing and successful tribes through this challenge on the Sleepy Reeds, First Snow, Summer Mountains and Rainforest islands. I also once, in an earlier version of the game, had a tribe head immediately to the Oasis biome without having any water genes, and somehow they survived and adapted. Sadly I lost that save, but they ended up having around fifteen creatures, most with water body, and a lot of claws, platypus beaks and fishing tails. I think it's pretty safe to say they would've survived just fine. EDIT: I did also start a tribe in the Burning Savannah and survived, but that tribe was still in a bit of a precarious position when I lost the file because the game updated. At one point, a small patch of grass was dubbed Bearyena town, because within ten days or so, four or five bearyenas spawned there, and three of them had babies with them. I didn't have enough food to waste on inviting them, so I just let them stand there and grow up to hunt them down for more food once they were grown and aggressive. It was so funny to see a Bearyena family meet-up consisting of one hostile one that had shown up during the night and three friendly ones of varying ages, looking at eachother in the Hearing vision.1 point

Interesting. It might indeed be tied to Whale Island but it is hard to say without being sure if the same issue persists in your game without going to whale island. I (luckily) never had the loop issue but I never pursued Story Mode enough to go that far more than once.1 point

I think with three claws he means one starter had two and the other one claw so that makes three claws and enough to easily take down a bearyena1 point

Rogue Males have 2 important motivations: Lust and Fear. Here is what it looks like in the game This basically says that rogue males are scared by fire and big groups of animals. Also, they indeed don't like spikyness. Another defense is growling at them or attacking them, which increases their fear. The reason that old rogue males are more interested in females could be that they really stocked up a lot of lust motivation1 point

Well, I don't know if this counts as a challenge, but I did start a tribe in the Oasis. Luckily my starter male had Claw, but with the children he had, he never passed it on. He died quicker than he should have because, well, it's hard to tell what water your creatures will drown in and in what water they won't. After the starting female died, I started to lose hope. Then a Bearyena appeared. My poor creatures could do barely anything and would soon starve. Then, suddenly, a big-eared, double clawed, ram horned female appears. She's immediately invited into the tribe and takes the Bearyena out in THREE BLOWS. I proceeded to call her 'the savior of this tribe' and immediately thought of my favorite TV show, Once Upon a Time. (SPOILERS AHEAD if you watch OUAT but haven't finished it) I named her Emmai, her mate Killian, her kid with Killian Hope (because she was the hope of this tribe + another reason), her other mate whom she briefly had one child with Neal, and her kid with Neal Henry.1 point

Ah I see. I think it's because you can choose a "best answer". I think we need to switch this of for anyone but admins, thanks ^^1 point

@DogCatCowPig @RandomWanderer @Lilytuft I don't know why, but I have the ability to make a green check mark appear on your comments on this post. For some reason there was one on @Lunerechos's comment. When I hover over the option to do it it says 'Set this to implemented.' Anyone know what this means exactly and why I have this mysterious power? @Philo?1 point

MULTI-PLANET QUESTS! MULTI PLANET QUESTS! @Philo Maybe you could do something like planets with moons or something! Maybe there could be a quest where the nimbatus crashes and you have to fly to planets moon(s)/neighboring planets in your drone to gather resources to repair the nimbatus!!!1 point

Drone Editor UI: Box select Click and drag on the editor background to select all parts within Shift-select Shift click multiple parts to select Double-click select Selects all of the same type. Would be useful for mass editing (e.g. changing the fire button of all placed weapons of type "Basic Blaster" Change root Will change the root of the selected part(s). If I have a 10 thrusters connected to a fuel tank and I want to get right of the fuel tank I would now be able to remove the tank without removing the thrusters or having to change their root Drone Parts: Struts (i.e. Kerbal Space Program) Connect two parts to add rigidity, similar to the single built in strut but add weight, drag, etc Smaller logic pieces I often like to build really compact ships and the size of the logic components limits this Weapon Editor More ammo types With the addition of burning and freezing, I feel like a lot of my combat weapons are kinetic because of the damage Rare drops Weapon Types New or hybrid weapon types, not available at the beginning Weapon Upgrades Have two trees for Research and Discovered upgrades. Once you research certain upgrades, you can find upgrades that are better (within parameters) or have a combination of two other upgrades Could be spawned on planets randomly to promote exploration once1 point

This is great, but I think that 4 collecting would be too much, since nimble fingers give 2, and 4 fishing could be too much. Maybe 3 and 3 would be better. Upvoted comment1 point

Ah, okay. I know they can be taken back, but I was thinking of looser rules for getting back the baby, like simply approaching it (I mean, surely they would choose their parents over an ugly, derp-snouted hag right?). I was thinking that lonely ladies could become aggressive once the steals a baby to balance the "reclaim by approach", since I think she would be determined to keep it. Lonely ladies not mating with spiky bodied males is good, but you would then need to watch both your males and females. My main concern would be the domino affect this causes: LL mates with one of your males Either steals a nest or an unclaimed one to have the baby The baby grows up to be either another RM or LL That's one more rogue to watch out for (or more, since I assume there's more than one lonely lady on the island) Rinse and repeat for an isle o' rogues I personally wouldn't want to deal with it, but maybe they could only appear on killer islands (or hard and above?). I think rogue males only appear on medium islands and above, or at least that's what I've noticed. I feel like being bombarded with lonely ladies and rogue males the moment you leave your grassy starter island might be a bit much and frustrating.1 point

While I like the idea of a collecting tail, the design just does not look realistic to me. No real animals have split tails, and I do not think nichelings would either. If it was just prehensile, It could still be used to collect in a limited capacity.1 point
