More plaaaaaaaants!!! Fern: Appears in jungle biomes, can be destroyed with 4 strength to get 3 nesting material, can't be stepped on, regrows. Flowers: Appears in easy islands, can't be destroyed or covered by grass, attracts rabbils, can be stepped on. Short grass: Appears in grassland and savannah biomes, can be stepped on, doesnt do anything special XD Weird leafy sorrel thing: Appears in grasslands and jungles, heals one day of damage, can't be stepped on, regrows. Cucumber/pumpkin thing: Appears in jungles, "fruits"(?) can be harvested for 3 food, fruit regrows, can be destroyed with 4 strength to ged 3 food and 2 nesting material, can't be stepped on, doesn't regrow after being destroyed.4 points

I have been playing Niche for a while now, and I have noticed that the island are "plain" and kinda dead looking. And I have been thinking, what if there was more vegetection? Like flowers, flowered bushes, different looking berry bushes and fruit trees. So I made something in photoshop today a similar post I have found by @Lilytuft (still cant link it but Jojo have linked it in the comments so you can found it there)3 points

I don't think this makes sense, while I can see how it would offer a challenge and maybe balance, it would not make sense for a mutation not to unlock when it has the requirements met, meaning it would make no sense for Nichelings not to adapt just because the universes decides it shouldn't be3 points

Quite a few of those have already been sugested under feature requests. If you want the possibility for your suggestions to end up in game, you might want to go over there and post some of them SEPERATELY so that people can vote on them Also I doubt Nichelings will ever partake in space flight. Currently there is an active voting for the sandbox customizations, you could vote on your Nichelings to have a longer lifespan.3 points

Well here's a lucky encounter- sort of. So I was starting on sleepy reeds and trying to do a challenge there, forget the challenge, but basically a playtpus beaked, toxic bodied, and crippled male came by. He started distracting the nearby bearyena, and since all of my tribe had 1 strength, that was extremely needed. So he basically gave his life up to the bearyena and it lost a lot of life due to his poison. Thanks to him my tribe thrived and we got food from the dead bearyena. Woop woop!3 points

Hi everyone! We're revamping our GIF Competition to make it easier for everyone to enter. To get a chance to win a Nimbatus Alpha Key, all you have to do is post a good looking Nimbatus GIF you created yourself (with the demo version ) in this thread. Every other week our team will choose one GIF from this thread and award the creator one Steam Key. The competition stays open. Rules: You can only win once. If you already won a key in this or a previous GIF competition or you got a key via the giveaway, you are not eligible for this contest. Only GIFs made with the Nimbatus Demo are allowed. Several GIFs / entries per person are allowed. But please don't spam the thread with similar GIFs! Each GIF should be able to stand on it's own and is interesting in itself. If you enter this contest, you allow us to share your GIF via our social media channels. Have Fun! ❤️ Tipp 1: The GIF capture tool hides bad framerates. If you turn off the Bloom because of performance reasons, turn them on before recording the GIF. The game might have a low frame rate, but the resulting GIF should run smoothly and might result in nicer looking GIF because of the effects. Tipp 2: If you press F9, please wait until the "Generate GIF" message disappears, otherwise your recorded GIFs might get corrupted. Press F9 and wait, and then it should result in a 6 seconds long GIF.2 points

You know those flower tiles on ports leading to easy islands? Wouldn't it be fun to have them on easy islands as normal tiles? We have the clovers in mountain biome, why not have flowers in grassland? ☘️ They would not be covered in grass, but maybe they could grow around berrybushes too. These flowers wouldn't serve any other purpose than to look pretty, but it would be nice to at least have them.2 points

So, I just went to my main save file (the same one I reported on before here https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/2414-save-somewhat-reset/ if that matters) to get some screenshots for the project I'm working on, and then I noticed the "No Gene" filter. I decided to use that filter and realized that it was for male creatures and blood clotting. The problem with this was I realized on the suspicious twins I had, the female also was missing a blood clotting gene: This convinced me that something was wrong as these twins were exactly identical except for their sex. I dismissed it as very extreme luck until I saw this since that no blood clotting gene is definitely a bug.2 points

So, I understand the naming system was changed to avoid typing around stuff. But, I loved seeing youtubers or other people just rename random rouges, like bob the crippled rouge male! Or Uncle Bearyena, who never actually got the name but you get it! So can we have that come back? Possible Way It Could Work: (Suggestion from Dingorok) Also.. Here's Bob.2 points

Here are some examples of it in humans- real or fake I'm not 100% sure but yup.2 points

Thanks, this is a bug ^^ Sounds like the genes were copies from the other twin and not adapted to be female Wow, this is a very rare bug, thanks for finding it!2 points

I mean, it's not really cursed, but here's a screenshot I just took of my tribe showing what's currently happening in my Whims of Fate challenge.. Note: Where it says 'Male's Albino Child', it's supposed to say Rouge Male. Also, that blank square isn't supposed to be there. Edit: Forgot to mention that Rareana is pregnant with that same Rouge Male's child.2 points

I mean you can make nicheling immortal with the console. Just give them -100,000 days and boom, basically immortal. But NEVER let those get hit by any predators, or they die instantly.2 points

Just today I had the most adorable thing happen so first Kutaro showed up as a wanderer and hooked up with one of the leaders and together they founded the pink gem clan. They had a few children as you can see and this picture was taken when he was already dead for almost two generations (so glad I managed to take a picture of him) because at that time Tanunu shows up almost a perfect clone of Kutaro and that was just so sweet.2 points

Unsure if this has been mentioned yet, but I would like to put in my ideas of what could possibly be added to the underwater world. The Underwater World is super barren right now, only being able to find seaweed, clams, rocks, fish, worms, and leeches. I have a few ideas of things that could be added to make this world much more lively. ISLANDS Basically, there'd be islands with a ton more water and lots more places to swim compared to your average big island. The island would be small, maybe the size of tiny green, while the rest of the island would be places that can be swam through by Nichelings. Take the grass mingle island for example, cut that to the size of tiny green but leave all that extra island space to the water. Picture example: PREDATORS I know that the Razorina is already somewhat of a predator, but they only attack you if you are bleeding. How about, for somewhat of a challenge, have a predator like the Bearyna that will attack you for no other purpose than food. It would have similar behavior like the Bearyna but obviously be different. This creature's name would be the Sharkidile, a cross between a shark and a crocodile. You could also find a mother with a baby and tame the baby for its genes, just like the Bearyna! Here's a picture of what I think it would look like, sorry it's kinda sloppy I rushed it: Genes you could get from a friendly Sharkidile: - Sharkidile Snout (2+ fishing, 1+ defense, 1+ smelling) - Water body (2+ swimming, 1+ scentless, underwater breathing) - Fin tail (2+ swimming, -1 Cold resistance) - Sharkidile Claw (2+ fishing, 1+ attack, 1+ swimming) - Sharkidile Eyes (2+ underwater sight, 1+ dry land sight) - Yellow Eyes - New Pattern (Overcoat color and undercoat color, affects camouflage in water, +2 camouflage) FOOD Definitely a lot more food needs to be added. More types of fish and things similar to the berry bushes on land. Examples in pics below: I'm still currently in the process of thinking of things that could be added to the underwater world of Niche. If I do get more ideas, then be sure to look for for a part 2 to this idea! Please feel free to suggest anything.1 point

What if when you edit your sandbox mode, you could choose to add your own nicheling NPCs? You could choose whether they'd be agressive or not, or possibly some other options of what they do? Such as maybe they only steal a certain type of food. Maybe in the jungle you could make them try to attract the apes? Possibly edit them so all they know how to do is kill. You could choose if they move the same as your nichelings or at night like bearyenas. You'd have to choose all of their genes and choose a name for them. Just, this seems like the closest you could get to making your own NPCs, just to add some more fun as you play.1 point

Hi! The devs have already stated that there will not be an online multiplayer mode due to how difficult it would be to implement. However, a local multiplayer suggestion exists here: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/943-multiplayer/1 point

I am just brainstorming what I would like to see in Sandbox. What I wanted in Sandbox was to play with the Nichelings and their genetics, and not necessarily worry about other modifiers. So I would look for things like longevity; maybe 60, 100, unlimited. Starting food, set preset options (20, 100, unlimited) or enter an integer. Same for starting nesting materials. Some islands have few natural nesting spots, so maybe a low-medium-high setting for natural nesting spots. Same for dangerous animal spawn, low-medium-high-none. A setting to unlock full mutation menu. A setting to shut off certain damages, like common cold or leeches. For some reason, I really hate when they start sneezing! Maybe a disasters setting, low-medium-high-none, for drought or fire. That is all I can think of on my wishlist, thank you.1 point

Rogue Males have 2 important motivations: Lust and Fear. Here is what it looks like in the game This basically says that rogue males are scared by fire and big groups of animals. Also, they indeed don't like spikyness. Another defense is growling at them or attacking them, which increases their fear. The reason that old rogue males are more interested in females could be that they really stocked up a lot of lust motivation1 point

@RandomWanderer I think what Lilytuft means is that you would just put in a number and you wouldn't be able to have more creatures than that. The player would be able to choose what number to put in. Right, @Lilytuft?1 point

I didn't come to whale island with the intent of starting a purely flighted line, so when two wanderers showed up... that line would have more luck than all others combined. In total they had two beak genes, two wings, two big bodies, scorpion tail and peacock tail. Perfect starters, in other words. However, they shared an immunity gene. Their children turned out sick, blind, too weak to hunt and easy to bleed dry. Oh, and winged, beaked with a rec. Big body. So the best of the litter moved to a stinky tree in hopes that their children would be more healthy. Only, there was... a perfectly healthy, one winged, beaked female with two novel immunity genes. This was not the end of it. Fast forward two islands later, two old birds settle down in the Summer mountains. Their first ice block boasts a big bodied, mega. horned female. Exactly the gene they wanted. They have 6 children, no one inherits the B immunity. The new female steps up to the challenge and has... three children with a beak, one fully winged despite the mother's big nose and running legs. This line had unusually easy match ups in immunity from there on and went to unlock all genes. They lost the supporting line in the killer cold biome that provided food when they couldn't. In the end, they all go back in blood to those four wanderers.1 point

Seriously, I am a little bit furious right now! I have a safe file where I am currently working on unlocking all the genes, I have had this file since before the wing update and back then the only thing missing was the armored body, after the wing update I had to unlock all the new genes which wasn't much of a problem except for the antenna, which I got lucky with a wanderer. This safe file has 36 hours of playtime and we are 40 days away from 1000 days achievement. And you know which gene is stil f****g missing?! The armored body!!! Every ice block I crack open gives me everything just not the armored body and I am going up the walls because of this. I just want to find this frickin gene. How hard can it be?! Seriously at this point I thinking about using the console. Grrrrrrr Just needed to let people hear my rage... nothing else1 point

What defines our behavior? Our genes or our upbringing? It's a question that's been the subject of heated debate for a long time, with consensus shifting from time to time to favoring either camp. Niche, in it's present state, clearly takes the "nature" stance. A nicheling's abilities are entirely defined by their genetics. What I'm suggesting is to introduce a little bit of "nurture" into the game. Sure, sharp claws will help you fish or fight, but so would an older nicheling showing you the ropes of how it's done! This could work by counting up all actions performed by an adult within sight (or directly next to in case of blindness) of a young nicheling. Once reaching adulthood, the action with the highest count (with a treshold of let's say 3 instances) is added as a bonus stat. Examples: A young nicheling that grew up with elders constantly cracking open coconuts around them could get a +1 cracking bonus. Growing up around nichelings that are hunting / fighting can get a bonus in that direction (e.g. strength, stealth or defence). But no more than one nurture bonus per young. Since there aren't always enough opportunities for this to happen, it'd be nice to allow (skilled) adults to interact more with their young. Besides obviously being able to protect them, an action geared towards tutoring them on a skillset of your choosing could be a worthwhile action for an adult to take. For example, an adult with 4+ strength could teach fighting. In short, the idea is meant to give upbringing a bit of meaning. You can easily not spend time on your young and have skilled nichelings based on their genetics alone, but taking the trouble to nurture them could make them invaluable assets to your population.1 point

So after people saying they wouldn't like that they couldn't control the sick creature. What if this disease was a part of the challenge mode (I am refering to this post: ) or an option when you go sandbox (either on harder islands or just always) and just not present in story mode? That way people could have the option if they wanted the extra challenge but players who don't want it wouldn't need to play with it?1 point
