Now I am not saying this should be a feature but I was wondering. Why do your own Nichelings not get poisoned when they lick a toxic body Nichling? (Licking of the juices of the stinky fruit). I mean Nichelings get hurt when they lick spiky body Nichelings so theoreticly shouldn't they get poisoned from toxic body Nichelings? I think that would be pretty annoying but for consistency it should be there. Same would apply to all licking actions involving toxic body Nichelings as bleeding. What do you guys think?4 points

Yep. I still call deformed paw "no paw," and rogue males "horny males" as well.3 points

Ohhhhh, I had no idea anger was a thing! Its rally interesting that a balance bear prefers to eat fish than nichelings, and it makes a lot of sense. So you could lure one to a river when fleeing! Also I didn't know it was possible to scare a bear! I dont know if I understood correctly, but it seems balance bears dont move when its too cold. Is this a reference to hibernating? Edit: Awwww, I didn't know dodomigos had a social stat! That's adorable.3 points

I have my own theory about this questions, but I want to know what you think first!2 points

I tend to assume they were built by a tribe that once lived in the area, but migrated. Other times I just don't question their existence.2 points

Ok, let's draw a winner! The random numbers have chosen... @DogCatCowPig as the winner I'll send over your Steam key via PM ^^2 points

OMG I LOVED Kid vs. Cat though I never had much time to watch it as my mom was really strikt with TV time and stuff. But whenever I watched it, it was awesome. And now I can't unthink that purrsnouts look like alien cats ^^2 points

To be honest split snout would have been a better name correction than derp snout2 points

3 Balance Bears, Bearyena (just killed it), Blue Birds, Rogue Males, and now ram foxes...? I've been rolling a number for how many pack members I can have at a time, and currently, it's 5. Gosh the dramas this pulled out XD At first I had twin boys on top of the nest on the tree. But one of them had to go down into the middle of 3 balance bears if they wanted to grow up. Fate can be so cruel... (The other twin brother grew up in the tree. You can see on the left. I didn't let him down, 'cause they can't come back up, AND their attacks are so low they can't even attack the bears)1 point

It would be really cool if bones had a use in the game and were implemented more widely. For example, a pile of meat that is left alone too long turns into bones, and bones also have a chance to appear after gathering meat. Bones would have multiple uses, and nicheling bones would be a bit different. In many tribes I have seen, people say that the nichelings that die in the nest "bless it" with their bones. This could be made a reality. If bones are left alone for too long, they have a chance to fertilize the tiles next to them. This means that nests affected by decomposing bones are repaired and reinforced. Also berry bushes produce more berries for some time if affected, and roots are more likely to spawn in these tiles. This could lead to players assigning nichelings to guard the bones, and to place their elders more strategically so they have a chance to become fertilizer. Bones left behind by non nicheling animals can also fertilize the area, but it takes longer. However, nichelings with this new gene can benefit from bones: Bone cracking jaw: +1 smelling(because its best to not smell a carcass) +1 bone cracking, +1 cracking nichelings with this gene can gather food from bones, and nesting material from nicheling bones. The amount of food obtained by cracking bones is equal to the amount of meat you would have obtained, but with 3 more food points. This would be useful if you have a lot of food and you can wait to gather the meat. Also, because there is a small chance of a carcass leaving bones behind after being gathered, you could get a lot of food. You would need to carefully guard the bones, because there are scavengers that would love to get their hands on them: Boneitor lizard: It has the appearance of a black monitor lizard with a cassowary's crest. Most of the time, its not dangerous. It moves one tile every time a nicheling moves, and it can be killed in one hit, because of its extra soft skin. It can be found on every island, it can cross rivers, and it has 3 smelling, 2 eyesight and 3 hearing. It is very wary about nichelings, and likes to stay at least one tile away from them. It is attracted to bones and it will gather them, for every bone pile it collects, it gains 1 point in defense, and if it collects nicheling bones, it gains 2 points, visually, it covers itself in bone armor. It can reach a maximum of 10 defense, and once it reaches that cap, it will start hunting other things. It will go for bunnies, moles, and baby nichelings, and it swallows them whole. there is a chance it will drop a bit of armor when attacked, and you can harvest bones from that armor piece.1 point

Just wanted to share this with you because I think it’s so cool. So my dad bought this gorgeous agaitzed petrified wood. (He is a big nature and fossil fan!) It was like $130 or something and he loved it a lot and was very proud of it. But then, today, it was accidentally knocked off the mantle and shattered into a million pieces! My poor dad was so upset and sad at his loss. However, my sisters and I decided that we would try our luck at piecing it back together. We started with the biggest chunks and then our dad scrounged the garbage can for the small fragments he threw away. Eventually, this is what happened: we were able to piece the rock back together like a puzzle down to the tiniest bits with just a few tiny chunks remaining around the edges! We thought it was too far gone but apparently not! It may eventually get plastered together and hopefully be displayed in glorified honor once again!1 point

Now this is a funny one. I sort my family tree icons/ Nichelings after age. Oldest all to the left and younger siblings then after them. So the youngest will be on the right. What I noticed is that when I exit the game (to main menu or desktop) and come back in the young creatures are all the way to the left and the old ones are right, completly ignoring the nice family units I set up in the family tree. I can provide the safe file if needed, though I think it occurs in multiple ones1 point

Yeah, luckily my tribe is usually around 20-30 members so I come along and as it just sorts them the other way around it is not that bad, but if I'd enter and close my game more often it would be super annoying.1 point

I don't think Sharkidile hybrids make much sense, but I like the rest of this suggestion! However, a Sharkidile snout that could be unlocked through, let's say, killing fifteen Sharkidiles, could have Fishing, because as of now there are no heads in the game that give Fishing, and it would make it more unique and desirable for that very reason.1 point

I sort my family trees too and it gets really annoying, when you have like 50 nichelings (overbreeding on an archipelago) and all that work goes to waste...1 point

I think I know what your theory is Well, I think either some bigger animals build them (possibly which are now extinct) that is why they are permamnent or they are just very old nests that somehow managed to stay for ever. Really, I don't have any good theories. I always just accepted that they were there ^^1 point

BEHOLD Roboto the destroyer of worlds! Wait, I had an idea! what about an aquatic predator that is like a predatory seal, but with a mane!1 point
-
I agree! And I love your bettabass! It could be like a beta fish and be really fierce. But Idisagreein the sharkidile hybrid part. Bearyenas are related to nichelings and it makes sense they can breed, but even with how weird and wonderfl niche can be, I think a nicheling breeding with a sharkidile is kind of weird. But maybe there could be a seal- like predator related to the nichelings! In that case, aquatic hybrids would be really cool!1 point

I prefer spit snout, it sounds like split snout, and it looks kinda split.1 point

I agree. I have the same favs exept I'd replace sabre fangs with platypus beak1 point

I don't find purrsnout super creepy but it doesn't look that appealing or cute either. It could definitely use some editing, though I am not sure what would make it better (looking at the posts above I think it might be head shape related). Oh I hate cracker jaw too. Of course I got used to it but I still try to keep it to a minimum and rather use nimble fingers for cracking when I can. My favourite snouts are probably big nose, poison fangs and sabre fangs1 point

Philo said it was originally supposed to have the ability to spit something but they never got around to do it And I don't like the name 'derp snout' either.1 point

Cat-nosed creatures with black eyes look like Martian/cat hybrids, and it's a little creepy. I fix this problem by putting other eye colors in the mutation menu so that my cat-nosed creatures can actually look like cats, then they're adorable.1 point

It should not give distasteful appearance. It acually should be attractive to predatorsbecause its easy prey1 point

The idea of a "bad" body gene is interesting. But the penalties are uneeded. Simply having no bonuses would already be far weaker than existing bodies.1 point

I'm going to start by saying that if someone already posted a similar idea to mine, please let me know. I suggest a Wasteland Biome/Island, which is a biome very difficult and deadly, but it can maybe introduce new genes. The main characteristics are: NO BERRY BUSH: the soil in the wasteland biome would be very infertile and would lack nutrients, so there can maybe be dead bushes where nest material or beetles can be harvested. BEETLES: this would be the main source of food. They could be found at dead bushes, tree stumps, or near some sort of meat. If meat is left untouched for 1 day, beetles may start eating it, and after 3 days, the meat and the beetles will be completely gone. Toxic beetles can also exist but has the probability of poisoning nichelings if harvested (toxic body nichelings won't get poisoned) Bettles can also be found when digging holes with the diggers body. TREE STUMPS/HOLLOW LARGE TREE STUMPS: these would be the home of beetles, and nichelings can harvest them. It would be similar to the digging ability: everyone could gather them but nichelings with a special gene (that resembles the anteater mouth) can gather them more effectively. The large tree stumps are shelters for nichelings which would protect them when it rains acid. Each large tree stump can support 3 nichelings (2 babies counts as 1). ENEMIES: rattlesnakes and crocodiles (and radioactive fish) could be the main enemies. Rattlesnakes would be very very poisonous, but they would make a rattling (if that word exists but you understand what I mean) sound that serves as a warning for your nichelings. Nicheling with toxic body won't get poisoned. Crocodiles would replace bearyenas, but these would be found near rivers. Radioactive fish are fish that can be harvested by a nicheling with the fishing skill, but have the posibility to poison nichelings. Again, nichelings with toxic body won't get poisoned. ACID RAIN AND TOXIC RIVER: Acid rain would replace normal rain, and if a nicheling is outside for a complete day, it will take damage (Toxic body, armored body and big body nichelings won't get posioned from acid rain). Nichelings, with an especific gene, can dig holes to protect themselves. The disadvantages of these holes is that they won't be permanent and only 1 nicheling (or 2 babies) can go inside. In rivers, when a nicheling is inside the river for a complete day, they will take damage. (Toxic body and armored body nichelings will not suffer get poisoned in rivers). The new genes that I have in mind are: the beetle-eater tongue rattle tail (to warn enemies, maybe) diggers body (to dig holes (and maybe find some beetles along the way)) I tried to make it as simple as I could, but english isn't my first language, and while I was writting this, ideas kept coming and I just wrote them without any sort of planning. If someone has any ideas or recommendations (or if there's an idea similar to mine), please let me know. Btw, thanks for reading this extremely long suggestion and be sure to suggest as well.1 point

I don't think digging a hole would help when it rains- the water would just fill the hole. I'm imagining this is a radioactive post-apocalyptic setting, similar to Chernobyl, and in that case, perhaps there could be both good and bad 'radioactive genes' that can be unlocked from staying on the island for a set amount of days the same way we have hot-climate and cold-climate genes, but instead of just showing up in the mutation menu after the right amount of days passes, the unlocked gene [or genes] would appear on the next baby to be born then be unlocked at the same time. For example, these could happen as a result of the biome's radiation after a certain amount of days: dwarfism: reduced size and speed polycaudal: has 2 tails, both still have working effects conjoined twins: all stats heavily reduced A split-end tail for gathering. Deformed body that reduces stats by 1. Weak and Deaf Ears Bioluminescent markings. The Clever Jaw, because if insects can survive in this climate, perhaps the nichelings can evolve an antlike jack-of-all-trades face to make survival easier. As well as the possibility of there being randomly mutated Derp Snouts, Deformed Paws, and Blind Eyes, maybe there could be an extra-paw trait that creates a copy of one or both of the currently existing paws. For example, a nicheling that would've been born with one runner leg and one deformed paw ends up having two runner legs and one or two deformed paws. Not sure that'd even work into the coding, but it's a cool thought anyway.1 point

Uh... I think what you are suggesting is heterochromia, which means each eye is a different colour. I like this suggestion, however I'm pretty sure heterochromia has zero ties to behaviour or "distemper", so it would be a purely appearance-changing mutation in the game, just like it is in real life, if it were to be implemented.1 point
