  1. 1- Whims of Fate! (If you don't know what it is, just look it up on YouTube and watch Seri! Pixel Biologist!'s videos) 2- Try and survive on a Jungle island from the very beginning! I'm doing this and I'm having a lot of fun 3- No Mutation Menu challenge! Self Explanatory

  2. I think it’s a jungle gene meaning you can only get it from creatures from the jungle. I don’t know how rare it is for jungle wanderers but the fact that you can only get it in the jungle makes it rare in that sense.

  4. A long, distant cousin family to Adam's tribe wandered off. One of those such nichelings was Nunukir. He was double digger pawed, and had webbed hindlegs, and as such the female nicheling he had been stuck with, Raanala, a one digger pawed one runner pawed nicheling scoffed at the idea of having cubs with him. But, as they grew she eventually accepted there was little hope she'd find anyone else. So, she soon bred with Nunukir and had their first child, Anaanako. She was also double digger pawed, and Raanala growled in frustration. "Our children our doomed because of your stupid paws and legs!" She growled at her mate. "It's not my fault I was born like this! Please, Raa, let's just have one more cub. I'm sure this time will be different." He soothed. "Lies!" She spat. "I won't condemn anymore to being as useless as you or I!" She then trudged off to pick some berries with her one good paw. Nunukir sighed and trudged off, wading into the sandy shores of the and cracking open a clam in the waters. However, both nichelings had found creatures who would change their lives. Forever. Nunukir found a wandering nicheling with lean body and peacock tail, Resi. He immediately fell hard. Resi was kind, understanding, and didn't seem to care that Nunukir was horrible at being on land, or that all he could do was dig for roots and crack open clam shells. She also had her issues, like being shortsighed and partically incapable of baring cubs. However though, after some time of getting to know each other, the two set off together and had a child, Kirkuvan. He had nimble fingers, which made Nunukir overjoyed. Sure, he didn't have the dramatic and frilly tail of males of Resi's tribe that she had talked about, but they loved him none the less. Now back to Raanala... She had found a wandering male, who was the epitome of beauty in her eyes. Tanuro, a big bodied and antlered male. He was picking berries with his one good paw, as he was like Raanala, and had one digger paw and one runner's leg. Now, for her, the epitome of beauty was big bodied, strong, and poison fanged. While he did not meet the poison fanged part, he met everything else in her eyes and they fell in love, having a daughter that Raanala thought was the sure sign she had found her true soul mate. Rela. She was strong and poison fanged, and striped gorgeously. She loved her daughter on sight, and immediately began to have more and more children with Tanuro, until he died. He died peacefully, as he was older than Raanala by quite a few years. They had four sons, Kukirnu, Dukduk, Dukvan, and the youngest, Kirnuduk. Raanala loved her children, especially Kirnuduk, as she imagined a great future for him espeically. However, none bore the beautiful big body either of former mates had, which did make her a little sad. But, she loved them none the less. Meanwhile, Raa's first daughter, Anaanako, was wandering alone in the grasses to find roots for her mother. She was sad her father had left, and that she had no full siblings, but she understood that she should still provide for her family none the less. After all, they were a growing tribe and she could dig better than anyone else. However, soon a loud, threatening growl came from the grasses. Her ears pricked and she looked behind her, eyes wide in shock as she spotted a bearyena. As her half siblings ram to get their older siblings to help fight, she guarded their escape by throwing herself at the beast and ramming her small frame into it. However, it didn't help, and she got severely wounded and bitten. Soon though, her brothers came to her aid and slayed the bearyena, licking her wounds without a thank you and wanderng off with the meat. They didn't even give her any. She sighed and smiled, knowing she had protected them. Not too far away, Resi let out a wail before sighing in relief as her second, and final child was born. Issi. She smiled weakly and licked her child, nuzzling her before soon passing, curled around her one and only daughter. She had been too old to bare the birth, and had died. The small cub curled up to her side and soon her, unknown to all of them, half brothers came and found her. They hauled her from her nest and took her in. All were enamored with her, every single one of the tribe. Except for Rela. Rela was glaring at the young cub, seeing the way her brothers eyed up the nicheling with awe and envy. "You're all fools." She scoffed at them. Kukirnu blinked and looked up at her. "And why's that Ree?" He asked, tilting his head. "You're all so enamored with that.. thing. It's disgusting. She's disgusting. Honestly, can you not tell what true beauty is, you fools?" She growled, pointing her heart shaped nose to the sky "Oh, so we're supposed to be in love with you?" Dukvan laughed. "No way. You're our sister and while we love you, it ain't in that way." The other three chorused in agreement. "Plus, what's gotten into you?" Dukduk asked, seeming confused at her hostility. All four brothers were aware she was proud of her looks, but even this was odd for the normally caring and kind Rela. She scoffed. "Nothing. It's just it's weird to see you all enamored over something so ugly." She hmphed. "One day, you'll all realize it was a horrible deicison to bring her into the tribe." She turned and santured off, still acting all high and mighty. However once she reached the grasses, she turned and glared at the small cub recieving so much affection. "Just you wait, brothers. You'll regret ever finding her in those grasses." She growled, her brown eyes gleaming with rage and hatred before she stalked off, her striped tail rustling the grasses before it all went still. The End! Should I make a sequel~?

  6. Rogue Island. I am not sure you'll like it, though, I tend to follow too many rules. Hard rules: it's best to use a safe that has all genes unlocked. You start on a hard Island with 100 food. You cannot mate with or allow wanderers into the tribe. With the console, your starting pair will be puny rogues. Derp snout, double no paw, no horn, frog legs, barely fertile, hemophilia, lean body, white fur, mask pattern. Either fully shortsighted eyes or one blind and one normal gene. Both mutation slots are decided by a random generator. In Addition, there is a 0-10 system attributed to each male. Roling a 0 means the female can receive a rec. mutation now. The mutation is chosen by rolling the random generator 3 times. Which genes will be best for the tribe is your choice, tough. Rolling 1-4 means the child born to the male in that order will receive a mutation. 8 allows one gender change. 10 to move one slot to the left or right when rolling for mutations of either parent. 5,6,7,9 will give you nothing. So do sick children. The goal is to create a functioning tribe without any of the starter's bad traits. Tip for feeding yourself: Picking poison berry bushes with a double no paw has a way higher success chance than normal berry bushes. This is the only challenge that might lead you to thinking: "I hope my starting female finds a rogue male, they have way better genes on average." Defining your own rules is fun, though. These are just some inspiration.

  7. Deltora quest challenge, based on Deltora quest: -You must have an alpha pair, the king and queen who's rank is alpha. -You must also have a council and some lords and ladies, also alphas. -The first generation, your king and queen can have 5 kids, every other pair must have 1 child only, that will be the heir, the first child of the first pair will be king/queen. -The current ruler can only have a mate chosen for them from the royalty, they are chosen for them by a chief advisor. -The royal family can not leave a certain area surrounded by "guards" who are beta rank. -everyone else is an omega. The nest challenge: -You must keep every nicheling in a nest while they sleep, if you don't you must give them a negative gene in their mutation/get them to pick from a cactus or clear thorns.

  9. 3 Balance Bears, Bearyena (just killed it), Blue Birds, Rogue Males, and now ram foxes...? I've been rolling a number for how many pack members I can have at a time, and currently, it's 5. Gosh the dramas this pulled out XD At first I had twin boys on top of the nest on the tree. But one of them had to go down into the middle of 3 balance bears if they wanted to grow up. Fate can be so cruel... (The other twin brother grew up in the tree. You can see on the left. I didn't let him down, 'cause they can't come back up, AND their attacks are so low they can't even attack the bears)

  10. I'd like it if we could generate an island, and then add stuff ourselves. Like, generate a peaceful meadow and then be able to choose what kind of grasses are there, and be able to place and remove stuff like bunny burrows, berry bushes, tree stumps, etc. That'd give us so much more control! And what if we could save these islands so they can be in our game normally, like we make it once, save it, and then boom implement it into files or smth and it's another island?? -cough cough- plus I can't get enough tree stumps for a Lek Mating Challenge and I seriously need this option Edit: So @PopsicleNinja had a good idea. This could become its own seperate update. So I suggest this: If this is the 1st rated thing or in the top 3, could the admins, mods, and all of them ppl consider that as an option? Because I do realize this is a very big, but would be a loved request.

  11. I think it would be cool if there were an ear gene to make bird-like creatures feel even more bird-like. These are some of my ideas of what a bird ear could look like. Please let me know which design(s) you like the best if any, and feel free to chime in with more ideas if you have any. Ultimately if there were a bird ear gene implemented, I would likely only want 1-2 (if they offer a lot of variety, then 2; otherwise, just 1 would be nice) to be chosen as "the bird/feathered ear allele(s)", so to speak. These are just some possibilities I came up with on the fly. 😉 Gene modifiers by each design (some of them have either/ors because I can't decide which is better; that's where your input comes in): a. No visible ear, covered by fur. Your classic, simple bird design. +3 hearing (normal hearing). b. Feathered ear (kind of like dodomingo). +3 hearing (normal hearing), +1 cold resistance (due to the extra feathering), -1 heat resistance (due to the extra feathering). c. Phoenix-like layered feather ear. Is much longer and fancier than the feathered ear. Either +3 hearing (normal hearing) or +2 hearing (less than normal hearing because of the thick feathering around the ear), +2 cold resistance, -2 heat resistance (more temperature differences than feathered ear just because of the length), -1 or -2 camouflage (because they're so noticeable). d. Tufted ear, a little like a great-horned owl's tufts called "plumicorns", which are not actually part of their ears, but I based this design off of them visually. This design also comes with the bird-of-prey "brow". +4 hearing (since it's based on a bird of prey, which is known for great hearing), +1 or +2 cold resistance (due to the extra feathering), -1 heat resistance (due to the extra feathering), -1 camouflage (because they stick up so much) +1 camouflage in trees (changed because scientists currently hypothesize that owls with tufts benefit from their branch-like appearance), +1 speed (the thin, angled back design aids streamlining, which is important in fast movement). e. Ear hole visible. Certain bird species have more clearly seen ear holes than others, such as ostriches, which have less feathering on their heads than many other bird species. Even though this design is based on ostriches, this doesn't mean that the nicheling's head overall would appear to have less fur. It just means that the ear hole can be seen as opposed to letter a's covered ear hole. +4 hearing (ostriches have good hearing, and the bare ear hole likely helps), + 1 heat resistance (because less feathering), -1 cold resistance (because less feathering). Thanks for considering this idea!

  12. So, I understand the naming system was changed to avoid typing around stuff. But, I loved seeing youtubers or other people just rename random rouges, like bob the crippled rouge male! Or Uncle Bearyena, who never actually got the name but you get it! So can we have that come back? Possible Way It Could Work: (Suggestion from Dingorok) Also.. Here's Bob.

  13. I think a really cool feature to have in the game would be scent marking so creatures can more efficiently separate into clans or tribes and make claims on territories. This could happen by a certain button on the keyboard (maybe P, would make sense but don't know if that already does something) that allows the creature to leave it's scent on the tile it's standing on. this 'scent' could then be seen in scent mode, maybe as the color of the gem the creature had who made it since different creatures would have different scents. I just thought of this right now so there's probably a lot of flaws in my idea, if anyone likes the idea of this or has some recommendations of how it could be fixed up to make more sense please let me know in the comments because I think this could be a cool addition to the game, especially for players with really large packs. Thanks for reading

  24. I noticed that when you hover over some of the fur color icons in the mutation menu, it says “effects camouflage” instead of “affects camouflage” which is the way you spell it in this case. So maybe this could be fixed in the next update?? Sorry guys...I know I’m being a spelling nazi right now lol 🤓

  25. Short Snouts A simple thing about them Who has seen them in the last month or more of playing the game? Because I sure haven't. Wether it be wanderers or nichelings of my own, short snout is basically gone. So can we fix that? Basically what I'm asking: -Increase Short Snout spawn rates in wanderers and starters 'Cause let's be honest Short snout is so damn rare anymore no one gives it a second thought.

  28. I suspect it might end up... As very large. Sorrounded by deep dark water With grass that only rarely regrows Plagued by seasonal heat and cold waves. The only solace being under the larger trees of the gigantic forest, spending shade and prey in Winter. Not very original overall, other attributes would likely be build on that basis and what would be available to make it more interesting. As it is, those are just preferences.

  29. Okay So first we got blind wanderers zipping around like squirrels on crack And wandering babies too Let's fix some of that Shall we? Suggestions for improvements of Wandering Babies: -Only move once for every 2-3 turns -Can die from one hit, be it nicheling, bearyena, etc, like our babies -Take away their crack

  30. it would be cool to make a maze out of rocks that you could give to a friend to survive on. or make it big and dont remember the way thru XD. you could make the paths 1 wide except for little stops for berry bushes and things like that. you could also make the very end impossible to reach without breaking the rocks so that you need to breed with bearyenas to beat the island.

  31. Hello! My name is Akamushi, I mean, not my real name, but that's how I would like to be called by others. You can just call me Aka or Mushi, people tend to like Mushi more. I live in the USA, but I was raised in Mexico, I am bilingual. I have a Guinea pig named Hades, a black ball of fluff and hunger..... and what happens after you eat too, but I love him XD I am here for Niche, I love the game. I have never finished it, I never find an "Evolutionary line" That makes me happy. Or I just breed to see what I get and overpopulate the Island (I should play smarter Lol) Regardless, is hard and interesting. I hope I can help the game, and make some friends here! Happy to meet you all!

  34. Hey there! The name's WolfDragonPlasma (though, please, just call me either Dragon or Plasma; the full thing is a mouthful XD). I've been a player of Niche since September of last year, but this is the first instance of me actually wishing to connect more with other Niche players. Or, at the very least, join the Discord Server and the Forums and just lurk, since that's usually what I do X'D Hm...Let's see....I'm a US American female with a love for animals and a passion for gaming. Games I enjoy are usually the adventure type that allow you to play as an animal (ie Okami, Spyro the Dragon, etc.), or animal sims (WolfQuest, Niche, etc.) but I'm not opposed to playing other types of games if I like them enough. Let's see....what else...I have four cats (all girls) and two dogs (both boys), though I've more or less become a cat person. That's not to say I don't love and appreciate dogs though; heck, one of my favorite animal species is the Grey Wolf, which dogs are a subspecies of. I just won't be getting anymore dogs in the future XD

  35. Good morning! I'm Goggles! (But literally everyone on Steam calls me Juno.) I'm a huge Nintendo fangirl, and I especially take interest in the Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon series. I also like genetics, so that's probably why I'm here! Niche has made an interesting shift in my life, but I'm not obsessed with it... (anymore, at least.) But I still like to do things, like stalk Niche's Twitter page 😈 Oh, hobbies. My hobbies aren't particularly special, but I love to draw and play games. And that's pretty much it. Uh... Stay Fresh, or whatever.

  37. Thanks for all your comments. Based on what I'm reading, perhaps a middle ground can be found in the following: You need to have the skill to get an actual +1 bonus If you don't have the skill, you don't get +1, but an increased chance of success at trying. It's not as good as getting a +1 but it may still be worth the trouble.

  38. I ended up with my little scorpion family all in one spot, they're all so cute and also I'm kinda proud of myself, I haven't actually unlocked the scorpion tail yet, I was just lucky enough to get a wanderer with the tail and through some very selective breeding, I've managed to keep it in my tribe! I love my little desert family

  40. Dukduk's mom was a spitsnout with a dominant swimming tail with recessive peacock tail. No scorpion tail. His dad was a bearyena, as you can see from most of his genes. Dukduk's mom had good eyesight in her genetic mutation slots because she had bad eyesight. I don't even have scorpion tail unlocked. Dukduk was a precious mutant baby, taken away from me by a wild bearyena. RIP, glitch baby. You will be missed.

  41. Maybe it could give +1 eyesight, since it would sorta light up its surroundings, which would let the creature see better. It would also go great with the cave ideas that have been going around.
