  1. I really like the idea of an ink squirting body. Someone also mentioned a ink-squirting ocean predator. I would have called it a Squictopus. The only thing is, it looks a bit similar to water body.

  2. Nice list here. There really isn't much to add. Just sometimes, after restarting the game, all creatures will have their eyes closed and full energy. Moving one will cause the others to jolt awake. By far the least annoying one and more of a consequence of the game getting stuck beforehand. I think that were all, though?

  3. A detachable part that creates a beacon (a blip or ping would be perfect) on the planet map. My idea is that you can identify places of interest (large resource deposits, bio barrels, collectible materials or chests, etc) and navigate back to them easily.

  4. Ore Detection Sensors to configure for one ore type. Detection Sensor with different sensibility. Example: Long Range, small cone of detection ... Short Range, Wide cone of detection

  5. Let's see if I can exhaust my ideas for awhile. Weapon Techtree Upgrades Laser Upgrade: Orbital Beam: Increases range, damage, and energy usage depending on its altitude. Higher up it is, the farther it goes and the harder it hits. I mostly want to use this to make an attack satellite on a planet with the death star laser transmitter and fly around the surface with a smaller drone section. Just click somewhere and a big laser from off-screen starts burning through the enemy. Fight Fire With Fire: Damage increases while weapon is receiving damage of the same element type or while under the effect caused by that element type. Plasma weapons do more damage when on fire, cryo weapons when frozen, and the others when being pelted with their respective type. Maybe have it get the boost for a short while after being hit Friendly Fire: Hits your own drone parts as well as enemies. I'm thinking it could see some use with a -100% damage upgrade on a plasma or cryo weapon to make an alternative to heaters and coolers. I admittedly don't know if your drone's own plasma and cryo weapon shots heat or cool its parts while travelling through them in the closed alpha or not, but this should be able to cover for that possibility. Would be interesting to see a cryo flamethrower used as a fire extinguisher. Maybe have a detachable line of them that fires in one direction while a drone piece flies over. EDIT: I made a separate topic for this. Batteries Solar Panels Need Altitude: OK, so some of us think that solar panels are the only battery worth using. Maybe that can be dealt with by having their recharge speed based on altitude? More Situational Batteries: How about a thermal generator that works like the solar panel, but only gets its full recharge speed when hot? Dip it into lava for a quick recharge. Maybe have one that works with cold instead. Maybe have a wind-powered one that works with strong winds or when the battery's movement is fighting air resistance. And I just realized that someone is bound to try using the thermal generator and a heater to transfer energy or maybe even a... plasma weapon... And that gives me another idea. Nothing Stopping These From Being Used For A Battery Workshop Techtree: I can already imagine a drone using batteries with more storage capacity and a higher recharge dependent on altitude in a rush to escape a fight in underground tunnels so that it can take to the air and replenish its strength before either going back down or luring the enemies up to where it is. Energy/Fuel/Resource Sensor: A sensor that detects how much energy/fuel/resources the drone or drone section has and gives an output when it is greater than or below a particular amount. Maybe these could even be built into the the individual batteries, fuel tanks, and resource tanks instead. It'd be nice to have certain parts auto-shut down when they start being too costly and then start back up again once you have the energy to spare for them. Also, being able to have an autonomous resource collection drone know when its full or empty is going to be a useful feature. Electrical Elemental Weapons: Can recharge batteries or even overload them, causing them (and everything powered by them) to temporarily cease functioning. Give it a -100% damage upgrade and... *goes back up and adds another suggestion* FRIENDLY FIRE and it becomes a great way to transfer energy between decoupled drone pieces. Or you can just fire it at enemies to disable their ability to shoot at you. They'd still be able to fly around and ram into you just fine though. This will probably be useful for if you ever decide to let planets have thunderstorms. Of Course There'd Have To Be Special Batteries: Maybe a battery that only recharges when hit with an electrical weapon, but it is harder to overload. Emergency Backup Batteries: Maybe have it be possible to have a battery turned off and that'll keep it from being affected by electrical weapons until it's turned on, but until it's turned on, it's useless. Organic Option For Basic Parts: And this is where my imagination seems to be hitting its limit for now. I was thinking of those blocks that now come in heat and cold resistant flavors, but this one looks a bit like terrain or possibly hive material, has less HP, and heals when hit by bio ammo.

  6. So I was watching a video on YouTube that showcased the grenade launchers in the closed alpha. The person I was watching commented about how difficult it was to hit airborne targets with the grenade launchers. I was looking at how the grenades exploded midair and thought to myself “hey, flak guns would be pretty cool.” Flak. A fast firing weapon with low accuracy shots that explode when they get near a target. Low overall damage, high splash radius. Do nothing against terrain or grounded enemies (AA guns, hives, snake eggs, etc) because they are unable to blow up. Upgrade tree options could include things like: Explosion radius; how close they need to be to an enemy to explode and so on.

  7. Basically, I made a save and started on the oasis. One creature had platypus beak but neither of the starters had claw. Both had recessive fishing tail but none of their children had fishing tail. No one could catch any fish, the tribe was down to three members, all females, and starving to death. I abandoned the save. I started again, this time thinking, I need to be prepared. I need CLAW! So I started on whale island. Unlocked claw. Then I went to the Oasis. I quickly unlocked a lot of the water genes. Life was...okay. We typically had less than 10 creatures, 30 food and not many immunities. We found a couple wanderers but most of them didn't have kids. Bearyenas kept showing up and killing all my cactus collecting omegas. But my bad luck was that no matter how many clawed creatures I bred, and no matter how many times I put claw in the mutation menu, none of the kids had double claw, and a lot of them had no claw at all. Also, not enough of the creatures were good swimmers, which made them terribly slow at catching fish. Then, things started going downhill. The main problem was, I was so paranoid of starving to death that I spent up all my turns chopping cactus and catching fish. Then I didn't end up ever having many kids. But soon I grew desperate. My last remaining females were all about to die. I made them all have their final children. Boy. Boy. Boy. Boy. Girl! This final girl was a blessing! But we were kind of starving, so I decided that we were going to leave. Everyone ran to the ports. This one girl, who was getting older, and like 7 males. On the day we left, a bearyena showed up right next to the ports. Also, our only female was impregnated by a rogue male. But, I was so relieved that we were able to travel to the burning savannah before the bearyena got to take a bite of his fast food literally 'to go'. So we get to the savannah. Everyone without big ears has only two turns. We grab a bit of food and try to book it through the tall grass to the easy island ports. Our female gives birth along the way. BOY. By this point our female is getting old and had taken a bit of damage before, probably from cacti and drowning and such. I skip the day. Half my tribe dies of old age. Also, my only female dies. All I'm left with is a of half-rogue male and a random platypus beaked, fishing tailed son of a wanderer. (Maybe one other male. I can't even remember.) In a burning savannah. With practically no food as we've spend all our energy running. Halfway to the easy island ports. I give up at that point and delete the save. I guess I should have restarted from the same bloodline so I could keep all the useful water genes. Next time, I guess I will try a water genes or sirens challenge, but start on an EASY island. And STAY there. Maybe going to the oasis eventually. But for now, I think I am a bit worn out from playing Niche. x.x I think it's time for a tiny break. O O F ! Hey, I have a Roblox account. I haven't played that in a while... Sooooo, any tips for surviving on the oasis? Or any other non-easy islands, for that matter? What did I do wrong, or was it just terrible luck?

  8. When the connection to a camera block is destroyed, even with a logic connector, the camera is unable to be operated and is stuck in "on" if it was on.

  9. That's actually not a bad idea :0 This is my first suggestion, so I'm really looking for all of your feedback ^^

  11. Oh I noticed the patterns didn’t show up as well. Also I gave one creature albinism but when I tried to change it back it didn’t work but the eyes were gray/white also noticed the pic in the family tree stays the same.

  12. frequent bugs: >The head of the nicheling gets huge when you change genes >You get stuck at night >the eyes of the nicheling don't blink/ the eyes remains open when it finishes the moves >The "bio" of the nicheling like when you click it and you see the days he as, the genes ecc remains unchanged >Nichelings dies in a few days >if you add a pattern it doesn't show up until you close the save If I will find more I'll write them

  13. I started a bunch of saves. My luckiest/favorite ones I will post here! Any others you can ask for and I can post them as well. Quadruple Claws on the Burning Savannah! I made no progress on this tribe yet. Literally just created the world, took screenshots of the creatures and exited. The ports are Oasis, Swampy Hill, and Grass Adventure. Their offspring and future generations would be great for the oasis. Lots of claws and fishing tails on these guys! Slot4.nichesave

  14. I tested it out for a minute. I gave myself 300 food and messed around with the genes. Biggest issue was that the creatures died in just a few days. The second small issue was that the nicheling's heads still followed the mouse when their gems were used up and they should be asleep. One still had its eyes open, the other had closed eyes, but both still moved their heads

  20. I love the tech tree and capability to improve my weapons and keep them organized. However at at this point, my only way to further my ship/game is to keep hitting the two major red/yellow mining planets over and over. What if there were special artifacts that could only be discovered through exploration (possible multi-planet quests?) They would be items of which you only have one (so each ship can only have one copy). They could be things like a weapon with 4 slots, an shield generator with extra radius, or a solar panel with double regen.

  21. MULTI-PLANET QUESTS! MULTI PLANET QUESTS! @Philo Maybe you could do something like planets with moons or something! Maybe there could be a quest where the nimbatus crashes and you have to fly to planets moon(s)/neighboring planets in your drone to gather resources to repair the nimbatus!!!

  22. Yeah but not from 100% to zero, to something like 5-10% so it doesnt get completely useless and it looks cooler (i think)
