Niche has received 144 updates and is now in VR. Putin is still President. No lunch in the last 26, 663 days. You have an existential crisis. What is it about?3 points

I agree. And you know how Nichelings have red eyes when albino? That's total albinism, which means that there's no pigmentation in important parts of the eye, causing shortsightedness. I think that the albinism gene in niche should give -1 eyesight, to be more realistic. Also, I love your idea about albinos being more sensitive to sun! Since they have no natural sun protection, they get sunburned very easily.2 points

Weapon parts that you can link together to make bigger and better weapons. They essentially become one block. For example, you could have a big laser thing that consists of a laser core(Core of the laser, shoots everywhere if there's no barrel or focuser, a lense barrel (To increase damage or range), and some other things for lasers. Or large miniguns or the like. I could imagine this working well for larger creations, having a sort of mega-weapon that slurps up energy like it's punch at party, but cuts through the ground and smaller enemies like they aren't even there. I could think of some fun uses for this.1 point

Hi! yay, Love this game. so I have been thinking about it for a while now, watching people play the game and playing the game myself. There is this, ever so slight, annoying thing that occurs. Remembering characters names is one, and the other is, who am I limiting myself to breed to. This also ties into another problem. As your speeding around your biome, having everyone doing their various tasks, once in a while. as I hover over the "..." and I prepare to, remove grass, leaches, crack a nut, dig a root, or in general, do something on a space that one Nicheling is on with another Nicheling. I occasionally accidentally hit that heart icon instead. That brief moment of cold sweet washes over me as I realize that the resulting baby might be double immunity as I quickly check their genes. I begin the rush of moving the mother far away to a nest away from the tribe. Usually resulting in the sad eventual sick baby that I must leave behind. It occurs to me that if only there had been a way to prevent this accidental twitching click of mine. So I Thought it over, watching the Jessimew videos (It's how I've been learning to play), hearing her referring to mates. I realized then, that it would be an amazing option too actually have a setting in your Nichelings profiles to designate a specific mate if you want one. This way. If your like me, with a trigger finger twitch, even if you hit that dreadful heart, if your accident female or even male already has a specified mate, instead of mating you get a failed breeding message, the reason being, "this female/male is already mated and has rejected you, better luck next time" or something like that. This will only stop you/me from accidentally breeding to a female or male that has a chosen mate I specified. All other aspects of the game would remain the same. And when a mate dies or is on another island, they will automatically drop from the mated menu. I have no art for preview as to how it should look, but this is my idea, Hope you guys like it and think it might work.1 point

I think that Fire Bees (a mix between firefly, fire ant, and bee) would be a great addition to Niche! If an island has 2 or more oak trees, there is a 100% chance that a Fire Bee hive will be on one of its branches. However, if the island has only 1 tree or no trees at all, none will spawn. The hive would look like a regular beehive, but with an orange tint. Visually, they would look like fireflies, but with black and orange stripes and a stinger on its abdomen. Lone Fire Bees can sometimes be found by berry bushes. If you pick from it, it will have a 50/50 chance of fleeing or stinging. A fire bee sting will not cause harm to your Nicheling directly, but it will be poisoned for 1 day. You will have an option to attack the hive to receive 10 food, and if a creature has a strength of 4 or above, it will succeed. Regardless of if the attacker is strong enough or not, any attempt of attack on the hive will cause large numbers of the fire bees to swarm your creature, continually giving it stings for 3 days. The nest then relocates to another tree on the island. The only way to destroy a hive without the fire bees going after your creature is if it has the Badger Snout. This will give the Nicheling +1 Strength, +3 Smelling, and +1 Hive gathering. It is accessible only by wanderers. Thanks for reading my suggestion! Let me know if you like it1 point

Just adding giant space whales and other things that you could maybe fight during missions, or do missions on hem if they're especially large. Like "clear the parasites off the spacewhale" and ther're a certain amount of enemies on it that you have to clear or something.1 point

I have a factory which prints a unit with energy, a button, and a cooler (signaled by the button). Before I detach it, it is active. But after I separate it, it turns off. The build: In action, before and after separation: And if I add another cooler on the same logic signal, on the main ship, it stays on after the separation despite not being connected to the button.1 point

So, here's a simple idea that would work quite well in the lore of the game. An autonomous mission is a varient of a standard mission, but no direct control of the drone is allowed. In lore, this can be explained by a jamming signal in operation (which can be stopped by destroying the transmitter), and therefore leaves your drone uncontrollable. The missions themselves will be simpler, to suit the fact that the drones must be autonomous. I just think this would be a fun design hurdle to try to beat, instead of just having to build a bigger drone.1 point

What a waste of time. I assume you only counted real-life responsibilities. No sleep, no free time and no standing around waiting for the train.1 point

I feel ashamed saying this... but I actually think short snout is adorable ;-; I even breed it in sometimes just for aesthetics or to carry on one of my favorite bloodlines, the Melon line, whose founder had short snout. (I bred it in to Melon originally because literally my entire tribe was cracker jaw, purr snout and derp snout.) I think it’s a shame that no one has short snout anymore. i hope the bat head looks like short snout so it can be cute and useful at the same time.1 point

Nice. Looking forward to finally being able to provide some financial support to you guys for this game, since I don't have a way to do so directly as a contributor.1 point

I guess that this typo is specific to the mission 'destroy hives' and will pop up on every planet that hat this mission. But as Roger said: this will be fixed later1 point

Thanks! There were a couple iterations before this craft where I was fine tuning the part layout and the vacuum design. It came together pretty well for the restrictions in place. Only takes a few minutes to bring in well over 2k yellow.1 point

Okay, so, here's a question. How would this work exactly? Like, would you do it by clicking on another nicheling like with an interaction? Or family tree crap? And what if you found a better mate? Here's a possibility on how it could work; A is female B is male A is your best female and B is your best male. You can make them a mating pair by clicking a button that has two hearts. It will then say. "A has become permenately mated to B until further notice." Or something. You can unmate them by clicking a broken heart button. These won't take up actions points.1 point

I don't know if anyone has already suggested this but how about making Nichelings with longer lifespans I mean maybe certain traits or genes can make Nichleings live longer or you guys can make a gene all together that makes a nicheling live longer and you have to breed it into your nichelings also maybe Nichelings can find one berry That can keep a certain Nicheling alive forever. But this berry would be really hard to find and one person can only find only a certain amount of berries.1 point

I would like to suggest the addition of a new gene slot for lifespan, of which there would be three: short lifespan, medium lifespan, and long lifespan. A nicheling with the short lifespan gene would live for 20 days, a nicheling with the medium lifespan gene would live for 25 days, and a nicheling with the long lifespan gene would live for 30 days. People have expressed a desire for either shorter or longer lifespans, so this solution would please everybody and add an interesting new element to gameplay. Like most genes, it would be selected from the mutation menu to mutate onto a nicheling's offspring, if desired. Perhaps gene dominance would go in the order of: short lifespan > medium lifespan > long lifespan. This would make the long lifespan gene difficult to obtain, but rewarding to keep, because it would increase your tribe's chance of survival. A lifespan gene slot is not my original idea, but I wanted to suggest it again so that the idea is not forgotten.1 point

The Killer Archipelago would be, well of course an archipelago island, but every single one of the islands would be different, meaning have different biomes. So you would start out on a grassland biome, but the next island or next two islands would be a jungle one and the other a swamp one, there could be deadly hills islands and savannah islands or burning savannah islands and the jungle islands would have apes (or at least one). It would be of course pretty hard to beat the killer archipelago but also kind of cool, maybe the islands would even have seperate temperatures. I actually had this idea because I dreamt about it1 point
