  1. Hey everyone! I'm a long time gamer and programmer. I grew up playing puzzle and RPG games, and writing dorky little Quick BASIC games. I was very into Technic Legos, and played the heck out of a game called MindRover (released in 2000). Nimbatus has a lot of similarities, so its no wonder I really got into it. These days I write software for aircraft and play Magic, Nimbatus, board games, and enjoy reading. I'm starting to get my daughter (3 years old) involved in my Nimbatus robots. She really wants me to get the blue ore.

  2. I don't know if this counts, but these two creatures popped up randomly and kinda look like siblings...

  4. Little late to the party, but I wholeheartedly agree that the purr snout in it's current state is creepy :D Someone said it kinda looks like a fox for than a cat. I love cats and hope to see that soft adorable kitten look someday in Niche... For me the whiskers look kind of jarring, like to poor things have been victims of porcupine attack! D:

  5. i havent seen siblings, but i found a mother and son once! they had 1 matching immunities, similar genes and recessives, and they looked fairly similar! i was in a story perspective for the save, so this was really cool

  6. Hi there, welcome to the forums! You can post your idea in the Feature Requests section so it can be noticed

  7. I'm surprised nobody is talking about it... (It's called "Retimed", and I think it's a 2-4 multiplayer game)

  8. You're on, Wanderer. (This was back from an earlier build when the textures were kinda broken... I'm also not sure what the green stuff is around the momma's mouth)

  9. Adding Multiplayer would be cool, but requires a major rework of the game. Therefore it's not planned for the near future.

  11. Let's see if I can exhaust my ideas for awhile. Weapon Techtree Upgrades Laser Upgrade: Orbital Beam: Increases range, damage, and energy usage depending on its altitude. Higher up it is, the farther it goes and the harder it hits. I mostly want to use this to make an attack satellite on a planet with the death star laser transmitter and fly around the surface with a smaller drone section. Just click somewhere and a big laser from off-screen starts burning through the enemy. Fight Fire With Fire: Damage increases while weapon is receiving damage of the same element type or while under the effect caused by that element type. Plasma weapons do more damage when on fire, cryo weapons when frozen, and the others when being pelted with their respective type. Maybe have it get the boost for a short while after being hit Friendly Fire: Hits your own drone parts as well as enemies. I'm thinking it could see some use with a -100% damage upgrade on a plasma or cryo weapon to make an alternative to heaters and coolers. I admittedly don't know if your drone's own plasma and cryo weapon shots heat or cool its parts while travelling through them in the closed alpha or not, but this should be able to cover for that possibility. Would be interesting to see a cryo flamethrower used as a fire extinguisher. Maybe have a detachable line of them that fires in one direction while a drone piece flies over. EDIT: I made a separate topic for this. Batteries Solar Panels Need Altitude: OK, so some of us think that solar panels are the only battery worth using. Maybe that can be dealt with by having their recharge speed based on altitude? More Situational Batteries: How about a thermal generator that works like the solar panel, but only gets its full recharge speed when hot? Dip it into lava for a quick recharge. Maybe have one that works with cold instead. Maybe have a wind-powered one that works with strong winds or when the battery's movement is fighting air resistance. And I just realized that someone is bound to try using the thermal generator and a heater to transfer energy or maybe even a... plasma weapon... And that gives me another idea. Nothing Stopping These From Being Used For A Battery Workshop Techtree: I can already imagine a drone using batteries with more storage capacity and a higher recharge dependent on altitude in a rush to escape a fight in underground tunnels so that it can take to the air and replenish its strength before either going back down or luring the enemies up to where it is. Energy/Fuel/Resource Sensor: A sensor that detects how much energy/fuel/resources the drone or drone section has and gives an output when it is greater than or below a particular amount. Maybe these could even be built into the the individual batteries, fuel tanks, and resource tanks instead. It'd be nice to have certain parts auto-shut down when they start being too costly and then start back up again once you have the energy to spare for them. Also, being able to have an autonomous resource collection drone know when its full or empty is going to be a useful feature. Electrical Elemental Weapons: Can recharge batteries or even overload them, causing them (and everything powered by them) to temporarily cease functioning. Give it a -100% damage upgrade and... *goes back up and adds another suggestion* FRIENDLY FIRE and it becomes a great way to transfer energy between decoupled drone pieces. Or you can just fire it at enemies to disable their ability to shoot at you. They'd still be able to fly around and ram into you just fine though. This will probably be useful for if you ever decide to let planets have thunderstorms. Of Course There'd Have To Be Special Batteries: Maybe a battery that only recharges when hit with an electrical weapon, but it is harder to overload. Emergency Backup Batteries: Maybe have it be possible to have a battery turned off and that'll keep it from being affected by electrical weapons until it's turned on, but until it's turned on, it's useless. Organic Option For Basic Parts: And this is where my imagination seems to be hitting its limit for now. I was thinking of those blocks that now come in heat and cold resistant flavors, but this one looks a bit like terrain or possibly hive material, has less HP, and heals when hit by bio ammo.

  12. The posibility of play with your friends or random people in the same planet would be NICE . I want to play nimbatus with my friends ._.

  13. This idea is inspired by KSP’s fuel cells, which convert fuel into large amounts of power very quickly. This is essentially the same idea in Nimbatus. The fuel cell will consume a lot of fuel to give a quick boost of power, for firing a lot of weapons for a short period, or for emergency power when your other energy sources kick the bucket.

  14. It might just be me being nastulgic about the old demo build, but I believe that plasma ammunition should give a digging bonus. It sorta makes sense when you look at the color, and how when you used to start with a fixed plasma beam which was your digging laser. I believe that even today, the plasma ammunition should provide a digging bonus, so that you can really melt through terrain like a hot knife through butter.

  15. Hi everyone! I'm tuna of Finland. Nice to meet you! I enjoy playing Skyrim, Niche, Ark, Sims, Minecraft... things that I kinda kinda use to tell my own story with or build something. Wanna-be-artist and devourer of snacks. So many people mentioning FMA I finally got into it with my roommate last year. My friend used to badger me about watching it. (Am I the only one who kinda loses interest to watch things if someone is _constantly_ telling you to watch it?)

  16. Just when all hope for the scorpion tail was lost, he... must have had some great recessive genetics? Cute children. The ugliest nicheling I have ever seen, though. Show me something worse, I double dare you! harems. Or a truly blessed union. Breaking the rules to figure out what went wrong with the panda plan. Finding the swimmiest swimmer to ever swim. And being unable to invite her 🙄. Curse you, nicheling gods! The sadness that comes with double trouble. Or, wait what? Hm... Hm.... HMMm... when these Edgelords were bright yellow all along.

  17. Sila and Lasi. Both were wanderers, they look similiar, are about the same age (if I remember correctly) and even their names are similiar!

  18. Decided I'd throw my recent sumo tourney winner against the workshop drones, since a lot of those were also tourney winners at one point or another. However, I can't use the downloaded drones in the practice dojo, so I can't go around beating Workshop sumo drones making sure my drone isn't just a product of a new age or something.

  19. Thanks for reporting Makes sense to allow downloaded drones in the practice tournament. We will fix it next week.

  20. Yeah that could be quite fun. But I have no idea how that could be executed in a simple and efficient way to sync the games between eachother.

  21. This is easy for someone to say but making it is no easy feat. You have to consider, you want them ONLY on the same planet with you or on the same save and they move around indepenently. And once you are in the planet they can join you. You have to have a very specific idea of what you want. I think if possible they would love to implement Multiplayer but the way it will work is to be discussed.

  22. Oh yeah! I found two gilled wanderers recently one had albinism the other melanism. Really cute :3 I had some more of the siblings encounters but didn't take any screenshots most of the time

  23. The only accident not due to bad planning was this guy. Pretty cute, though.. Tough it was extra bad luck to meet two winged creatures with the same immunity.

  24. I bred many kids with their parents in my rabbil tribe. (Because my population was always 2) No one got double immunity for some reason.

  25. In this challenge, the goal is to only send one creature to the next island, populate it and unlock all genes. Since the bigger mountains are a bit harder... I breed my female with her brother at departure. Then the son. Their son meet a nice, young lady that wasn't his sister. So it all worked out, didn't it? It's not like his great grandparents knew...(you know, the ones staring judgementally at the couple with a common immunity gene) That was the only biome I couldn't find a good mate in, though. It's a very doable challenge.

  26. Is it that weird? The gene turned up again on sunshine's daughter. Then there was an invasion of black eyed purrsnouts... Not the first case, either. A good reason to restart the game, at this point. Tough the platypus beak also took over in their grandchildren. You just never really know....

  28. So, here's a simple idea that would work quite well in the lore of the game. An autonomous mission is a varient of a standard mission, but no direct control of the drone is allowed. In lore, this can be explained by a jamming signal in operation (which can be stopped by destroying the transmitter), and therefore leaves your drone uncontrollable. The missions themselves will be simpler, to suit the fact that the drones must be autonomous. I just think this would be a fun design hurdle to try to beat, instead of just having to build a bigger drone.
