  2. Well, my walrus deer sometimes run of into the water which is super annyoing and they also defend themselves when you surround them on every tile with a Nicheling so maybe their fear stat isn't so high because of that? Ram foxes can be quite dangerous for weak, isolated Nichelings as Random Wanderer said

  3. Could we get an option for factory parts that toggles whether the parts attached to them will be there when the mission starts? Some of the autonomous things that I want to print with factory blocks have thrusters on them and I would appreciate being able to just not have them there until I'm ready to print and release rather than releasing them underneath the Nimbatus or trying to fly with them still attached.

  4. Well, this was what I thinked after watching some of jessimew's videos. The walrus deer just walk into the nicheling's greedy paws and no matter how many times they are attacked, they keep coming back! Do they have a fear stat? Why do they tend towander into nichelings? Also, what goes trough the mind of the ramfoxes? They dont seem to be too fierce, Its as if they only liked hunting bunnies.

  5. Hopefully I'm not restating something someone else said (and hopefully you can't actually already do this and I'm just dumb and can't figure out how to do it myself) but I think it would be nice to be able to rename saved games. I always forget to name my saves when creating them and I end up with them all named New Game which is really confusing. Especially since I can't go back and rename them later. Even when remembering to name them, it'd be nice to be able to rename my save to the name of the current biome I'm in or the name of my current pack or something , too, to avoid confusion with my other saves. Sorry if this is already a feature or someone else has already suggested it!

  6. when you are in the galaxy vieuw, its nice and all but it would be sick if the planets where orbiting thier sun, just a small estatic change that would make it look soo much nicer

  7. Quick overnieuw: If you have seen the guardians of the galaxy 2, there is a part in the movie with "quantum meteors" these meteors teleport short distances or "go to the 4th dimension and back" anyway, this would make for a crazy hard planet if the ground coult teleport in its atmosphere and fall back down. in defense of yourself there could also be a new defence mechanism that prevents rocks to spawn in you, its kinda like a shield but "in the 4th dimention" Planet theme: Colors: purle and gray? idk what looks best for this thing Added part: - Quantum shield (defence mechanism that prevents rocks to spawn in you, its kinda like a shield but "in the 4th dimention") - Quantum shooter (shoots bullets temporarely in the 4th dimenstion so it can shoot thru small walls) - Quantum storage transferer (can transfer resources in a short distance) By: Fire209 Extra difficulty: Pieces of the ground teleporting randomly and falling back to other positions Resources: Yellow, red and Maybe a purple resource? Missions: Destroy transmistter (has more protectors and also a 4th dimension protection), Destroy planet? kill the giant monster(3x bigger than the hammerhead and has some special abilities), Destroy the quantum hives (basicly bee hives but pruple and more dangerous and cant travel in 4th dimenstion but can shoot in it) I think it would be sick if this got added to the game, and let me know what you think of this idea If this post has a lot of spell errors, i have dislectia so you know

  8. Anyone remember those old harvester drone-things from the demo? Well, i thought of a possible weapon type/upgrade that essentially creates a tiny drone launcher! It would have different tracking settings (enemies, resources, terrain...), but it would use lots of energy and also fuel. What do you think?

  9. Some people at the steamforums suggested the same, I'll add the following to the discussion: Add a Toggle which decides what is 100%. Settings: Radius, Container, Nimbatus, Drone Brain Add a relative Altimeter, which measures not the distance from the center of the planet, but a raycast to the surface as a guide.

  10. There are quite some wishes for making advanced logic easier. We haven't found a good and satisfactory solution yet, but we definitely have the hardcore logic lovers in our field of view and at least try to find a good solution

  11. I like some of the ideas here, like maybe this purple resource could be used for quantum or spacial-esque upgrades, like as you said, a quantum shield, a short teleport that consumes energy, and other stuff, like maybe a short-range resouce transfer?

  13. I had to do a project a few years ago about my future job that required an interactive component. I want to be a genetic engineer, so I was trying to find a video game that involved genetics and I stumbled upon the Niche Kickstarter. I was disappointed that the game wouldn’t be out in time for my presentation so I left it. Later, I was recommended a Niche youtube video and soon after found Jessimew and fell in love with the game. I’ve always loved genetics and video games so Niche was the perfect game for me!

  14. I had been wanting to play a game with breeding mechanics for a long time. I just googled games with breeding mechanics. A lot of results were stuff I already played, and like.... it had breeding but that wasn't the main focus of gameplay. Things like pokemon, the chao gardens in sonic adventure 2, final fantasy 7 chocobo breeding, fire emblem awakening It was kind of surprising how few games i could find with breeding at its core. This game was like the only game i could find that came even close to what i wanted, and i am totally satisfied. Also, if the team who made Super Meat Boy ever do finish that cat breeding game called "Mew-genics" you kno i'm totally going to buy it.

  15. Maybe they can't feel pain but are just a little bit skittish. No, but really, it kind of forces your hand to make them that way as a foodsource. But you know that. I keep wondering what they eat in the killer mountains. Those plants for nestern material? The pine trees? That's never going to be enough... Maybe they wait till your nichelings die and eat the corpse. That would explain a thing or three. Wanderers would be their usual supplementary diet, and not strong enough to do much damage on average. Aside from that, there are quite some around, so they reproduce quickly and can take a risk. I'd be nice to have some game-lore. Just some non-nightmare inducing stuff.

  17. I'd like it if we could generate an island, and then add stuff ourselves. Like, generate a peaceful meadow and then be able to choose what kind of grasses are there, and be able to place and remove stuff like bunny burrows, berry bushes, tree stumps, etc. That'd give us so much more control! And what if we could save these islands so they can be in our game normally, like we make it once, save it, and then boom implement it into files or smth and it's another island?? -cough cough- plus I can't get enough tree stumps for a Lek Mating Challenge and I seriously need this option Edit: So @PopsicleNinja had a good idea. This could become its own seperate update. So I suggest this: If this is the 1st rated thing or in the top 3, could the admins, mods, and all of them ppl consider that as an option? Because I do realize this is a very big, but would be a loved request.

  18. Make upgrades like shaped explosives, or elemental tnt, or increased radius, increased damage, a knockback effect, make it do less damage in general, or just to your drone, make it's damage stack even better with other tnt, almost like a multiplicative effect.

  19. How did you find out about Niche? What were your first impressions of it? I found Niche through Seri! Pixel Biologist!'s videos. Niche was on verion 0.0.6 and didn't look very interesting. Still I looked it up on Steam. I was kind of interested, but my sister conveced me that this game was not worth it. My English was really bad at the time, so I tought this was a strange game about genets. (You know, the animal?) That made the game seem really unrealistic to me XD. And so I was left wondering what would happen if you filled an entire island with these strange creatures. Later Seri started making videos about Warrior cats untold tales. I started watching, because I really liked that game. She also had a Niche series called the Jannu tribe. I slowly started to understand it, until I was sure I wanted Niche. I got it during the jungle update and it's one of my favorite games. It has really helped me understand genetics! (but not genets XD)

  20. Blocks that add temporary yet good benefits at the cost of lots of energy or a debuff. For example, a cloaking device that uses lots of energy to hide you from enemies for a short while, or a sort of "rage mode" which increases damage dealt, decreases energy cost of weapons and decreases energy usage of weapons, but shields are disabled and your weapons are firing for the entire duration of the enragment. You can also damage drone parts that are not attatched to you. Afterwards maybe a temporary weakness debuff. Another thing could be a "hypergate" block that allows you to make portals between two locations on the map for drones to go through, but actively uses energy to sustain from the maker drone. Or maybe a "lightspeed" block that uses lots of energy to speed you up massively and stabilize your motion. a "stasis" block that slows things down outside of a radius around it, making your drone fast in a world of slow projectiles and enemies for the cost of insane amounts of energy.

  21. Weapons longer or wider, which produce heat due to firing.

  22. Things like Lightning, which electrifies enemies, with very low damage against enemies, but electrified enemies shock nearby enemies, dealing high damage, making it a good croud control weapon. Or Acid, which slowly corrodes away at enemies, with increasing speed the more acid is applied, but again, dealing low amounts of damage in the actual impact of the shot. Possibly even a Magnetic type, which deals decent enough damage but with the added benefit of magnetising any metal enemies, causing them to behave like a magnet part, attracting other metal enemies, broken ship chunks, or meteorites (or even bio barrels if one isnt careful).

  23. So downgrades, they can be useful. They can get your particles to the ground so they can eat downward, they can widen the spray of projectiles so your aim needn't be so precise, they can even help you propel your ship with recoil in a pinch. But they have one thing in common. They create a specialized, tactical weapon, one more useful in a narrow scope, and less useful for a broad range of things. They always diminish a weapon as they specialize it. So why not add an upgrade slot for every downgrade? Or for the first, third, fifth, etc slots, or whatever you want to do. The point is that making a highly specialized weapon can require downgrades that prevent you from using upgrades which would also be useful in that role. Because you've diminished its behavior to suit one purpose, you can't best suit that purpose. So I think that adding a downgrade should add one more slot for a weapons mod. That is all.

  25. Did anyone solve the Xopicy level? I've played it many times, but can only find 4 barrels: two barrels at 10 o'clock and two barrels at 7 o'clock. I've also noticed that bio-barrel levels I played before, there was a surplus of barrels. But Xopicy seems to miss one?

  26. I (also) found Niche by watching Seri play it. I started watching her Yukir Tribe videos, and REALLLLY wanted the game. For Christmas/my Birthday (they're only a couple days apart) I wanted a Steam giftcard, and I kinda got worried because I got all the stuff from my relatives on Christmas or beforehand, but finally my Birthday came and my parents gave me the giftcard! Since it was late at night (we had just gone to see a movie), I just showed my parents pictures of the game that I knew I wanted to get. Next morning, as soon as I got up, I went and got Niche! I don't remember much of my first tribes, as I mostly just started tribes, bred a couple creatures, then got bored with it and deleted the tribe and then started the cycle anew. Finally I got hooked on one of the tribes and played with them a lot. I still have that tribe today, but I also have some other tribes too (my absolute favorite is the Whim of Fate Tribe, they're currently on day 654!!). I love Niche ^.^

  27. I think there should be a creative or sandbox mode. It would make the game interesting for those who have already gained the basics and can have fun. Things this mode could include: The Nichelings: We should, in this mode, be able to edit them. Give them whatever features we want and create the ultimate species and breeding pairs. For an example if I wanted a brown base color with white horns, blue eyes, and poison fangs I could go in and edit one of the animals on my "playing board" ( world ). You could just go in an edit them with a click of a certain button on the family tree menu. Also you can change the sex / gender of the Nicheling. The World: You could place your own paths, and prey species. As well as delete paths and delete creatures and/or prey and Bearyenas, or the Blue Birds. You could also place berry bushes, trees, and other terrain items. Food & Supplies: You could have infinite food and supplies. Done~!

  28. Those were funny, but for that specific use-case almost useless and annoying. Maybe we can re-purpose those for something more interesting, but we have no plans yet thanks for the suggestion!

  31. Thanks, this helps. I've tried some of those solutions, but I think part of the problem is just that I'm very new to the game 🙂 I'll keep trying and see what works!

  32. So whenever I decouple the build from the main factory block my batteries stop powering the rest of that section as if cut off from the batteries but it is all still physically connected, whenever I print a new copy of the build it is pulling power wirelessly (which was removed from the game a while ago if I recall) from the previous copies of the build. Essentially making it pointless to have this be attached to a printer because it stops functioning due to some bug most likely.

  35. Maybe i just had a great idea! Or a dumb one, you decide... When placing a weapon it has to be made in the editor first to appear in the list. Different drones require different weapons and so my weapon selection is cluttered with things i don't need right now. What about an option to just place a 'weapon'-part in the editor and then select the type, damage type and upgrades from a pop-up after the placement... That way this weapon that is only used once in a special drone will only be created in this drone and don't clog the scrollbar of weapons.

  37. I want more variety of weapons, or just that it would be possible to see what kind of upgrades were added to them. Weapons could be made out of sections, and each section with a certain upgrade would change to sommething better or different, whilst the weapon type section/s would remain

  39. In the Gif, I'm attempting to decouple 6 TNT (linked to L) by spamming J (regen) and K (decouple). I eventually gave up and pressed L and took the screen record. This happens whether I have the factory linked to a factory, linked to the main drone, or even regenerated.

  42. And it's useful for the stupid idiotic stuff I try to do, like make drones with legs.

  43. I would like directional sensors that can track your position on the planet, from 1-360 degrees, with decimals. That and the altimeter would make it possible to make a drone that could seek fixed goals, like the hopper, and also avoid the hopper in their meanderings. (A pair of altimeters and a bit of logic could keep you out of a range of altitude whenever you're in a certain range of degrees.) I agree that resources should be detectable, and I would like to again take the opportunity to plug the idea of an 'angle' component to directional sensors that you could increase to 360, but that reduced maximum range as you increased the angle.

  46. Basically a shield that when active works as a physical barrier, (i.e stopping creatures from moving past it and having collision with the terrain) but doesn't impede hostile weapons . It would be helpful for planets with a lot of asteroid strikes or when maneuvering at speed through terrain, and perhaps even hold off the direct effect of lava damage (though heat would still bleed through the shield. To keep game balance it should also not be able to be powered up at the same time as the normal shield.
