If you don't like the game, and only read a small summary of the game, then why haven't you watch others play it? Whenever I see people react like this, saying the game isn't "good enough for their taste" then I question, are you really a person who reads the entire thing? If you haven't seen someone else play it, and then soak in what it really about, you would like the game. Not saying you did this, but just an FYI, Spore costs more than this, and also, games aren't easy to create. Spore and Niche have a similar idea, with the "genetics" and "befriending" natural enemies. So I am questioning if you like the graphics or adventure more then the whole idea of the game.4 points

The game sure isn't perfect (yet..?), but it's worth its price, if you want cheaper games, just buy steam keys elsewhere. I still agree that multiplayer would be REAAAAALLY nice (and i'm more of a single player games type of person... But I think Niche has so much potentiel to go multiplayer...) But, max2Veg, I think Niche has already anough depth with genetics, and it is, as said "a GENETICS survival game", not a "nutrition" survival game. Without considering the current debate in society about nutrition (Devs can confirm, but I'm not sure you want to dig in this debate), it would add too much difficulties in the game. Basically, living in plants-deprived environment such as mountains would be a huge disadvantage for example, and it would necessit a shitload of balancing in the game. You bought the game for what it advertised : Genetics-based survival game where you have to adapt to your environment. So don't go saying the game is not worth its price because it doesn't have a "real innovative thing" it never pretend to have.4 points

I make games. $20 is cheap for a complete game. They are so much work to make.4 points

Right now albinism in niche is a desirable gene due to it's beutiful looks, even tough it removes all camoflauge. In real life albino animals have a really small change of surviving. They lack protection from UV and have bad eyesight. I have had rats with red eyes, and they all had bad eyesight. (I haven't had an albino rat, but many colors like marten come with red eyes.) So my suggestion is to edit following stats on albino nichelings: remove all heat recistance make it so that albino nichelings can only have blind or shortsighted eyes This is just to make the game more realistic. Albinism is currently too easy to survive with. If a lot of people don't want it, we could make it a sandbox option! Related suggestions: GO VOTE ALL OF THEM!!! https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/3201-albinism-and-melanism-give-camouflage-stats/ https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/3173-piebaldism-in-niche/ https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/2160-albino-wildlife🐁/&page=0#comment-6490 https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/2801-albinos-have-pink-noses/&page=0#comment-10564 https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/2297-albinismmelanism-in-mutation-menu/&page=0#comment-73572 points

Right now albinism/melanism completely takes away all camouflage stats, and I think it's kinda unfair. What I'm suggesting is that albinism gives +2 or 3 camo in the mountains, and melanism gives +2 or 3 camo in the jungles. I think it's unfair that a big-eyed ape is gonna go after my melanistic creature even though there's a creature with gray fur standing right next to it...2 points

4. Laana. There were no two things about it, she had a stalker. When she climbed out of the nest, he was there. When she made her way across the island, his red coat blazed behind her every step. And then he brought his brother and his real, creepy self to daylight. 5. Corruption Meko was a thing of beauty. The ones touched by the curse had been, if not disfigured, at least profoundly plain. But the curse hesitates for nobody.2 points

1. The hybrid Eagle can defend himself while being fast. He killed the bearyena attacking Lako, but he just wasn't strong enough to meet his child. 2. Is bad Luck heritary? Sparrow was too slow to escape. After being chased out of the Oasis and away from her mother's bones, she at least met a rather charming rogue. 3. And this... Would be where things got weird.2 points

Suggestion: Instead of making it so albinos can only have shortsighted/blind eyes, just make it where if they have regular eyesight they get -1 eyesight, so then it's the equivalent of having shortsighted eyes. If they are already shortsighted or blind, this won't happen and they'll retain their poor/nonexistent eyesight.2 points

A pet raven!? I would love a pet raven to just perch on my shoulder on halloween2 points

Also it doesn't make any sense at all. Black fur gives good camouflage in the jungle and melanism is basically the same but it doesn't? Albinos are a little different as in they are very susceptible to sunburn and light in general. So a bright mountain/ snowy environment wouldn't be good/ comfortable to them, though you are right, they still would be harder to see2 points

What if all toxic body creatures automatically had bioluminecent patterns? Kinda like albinism overwrites pattern, color and eye color.2 points

THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO THE GAME HOLY CRAPPP Edit: What if you had a creature with the toxic body and the bioluminescent pattern?? That would be one colorful boi2 points

Thanks for reporting folks. We looked into it and there was nothing to be found We're at a point where we think this is a Steam related problem that we can't fix. For some people it just seems to take longer to get a specific breeding achievement (different for each player!) Usually when you just keep playing (and usually after restarting the game some times), you should get the achievement. I'll let you know if this changes. Sorry >_<2 points

like the decoupler, although the two separated parts are connected by a faint energy beam. and when the assigned key is pressed the two parts are pulled together and rejoin, allowing them to be decoupled a second or third time. it would make it much more fun to have mini-drones in our builds.1 point

So, this would basically be a new pattern color with two possible outcomes: if a nicheling has only one copy of the gene, then their pattern glows in the other color present, and is purely aesthetic. If a nicheling has two copies of the gene, then it would glow in a random, bright color (like toxic body). Maybe having two copies would add +1 attractiveness out of water, and in water fish would come toward the bioluminescent nicheling.1 point

Having a "full set" of genes (Full bearyena genes, full hidden ice/ancient genes, full toxic genes, et cetera) would give a bonus to stats and/or abilities! Possibly drawbacks too? ~~~OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS TO ADD TO THE LISTS~~~ (Keep in mind to be a full set both paws must be their respective sets if there is a paw gene) Having full bearyena genes ; * extra +1 to strength (Possibly with a -1 to speed?) * Wild bearyenas won't attack them until they are attacked (Including killer bearyenas!) "One of the pack" Ability Having full ancient genes (There are two head genes, having either counts); * Extra +1 to digging if you have trunk gene (With a -1 to stealth) * Extra +1 to speed OR strength if you have saber gene (With a -1 to stealth) * (currently can't think of any logical ability) Having full toxic genes (Tail, body, and fangs.); * +1 to distasteful appearance * Projectile venom (Rather than having a separate head gene for this, as many other suggestions include, your terrifyingly toxic nicheling could have the ability when having this set!) "Spitter" ability Having full bird genes (Wings, beak, tail); * +1 eyesight * (Being able to attack bluebirds seems like a fine ability already) ~~~OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS TO ADD TO THE LISTS~~~ Just a neat idea I've had for a while! I've tried to incorperate as much logic as possible into these choices, and limit what they would add so that this would be less of a task for the devs if they ever liked this idea! Here is the logic below: Bearyena: They're big, strong, and don't move a lot of tiles, so it makes sense that they'd be sort of OP but very slow. (Unless my math is wrong and this would lower their speed to 0... O_O) We've seen bearyenas with babies following them, so perhaps your little beareyena/nicheling hybrid would be tolerated as well. Ancient w/ trunk: The trunk gene gives you +3 digging, but having double digger paw gives you +4, essentially the +1 is to knock it up to being just as effective since with this gene your main source of food would be roots and cracking. Ancient w/ Saber: The ancient genes give +3 strength, and adding saber instead of trunk makes it +5. Your main sources of food would be hunting and cracking, so having extra speed to help corner prey would be a big help, but having another +1 to strength would make prey go down quicker, so whatever the devs think would work best with the balance of the game is what should be implemented. Toxic: Toxic body only provides +1 to distasteful appearance, which doesn't seem like enough for a fully toxic creature. The venom spraying seems to be many people's favorite concept, and would make for an interesting game mechanic. Perhaps it could scare apes away, since the apes are immune to poison. Bird: Many birds are known for having great eyesight, and currently the max for nichelings is +2. Most predators have eyesight >2, so they can see you before you can see them. Having a +1 to eyesight would mean bird nichelings have a greater chance to use their flying abilities to get away from predators as well as hunt prey and find berry bushes. This would come in handy in the jungle biome, as apes are often hard to escape from once they find you. Thanks for reading! Feel free to comment any suggestions you have so I can add them to the list!1 point

I feel like Being able to add upgrades to things like coolers, magnets, and springs may be quite interesting. What I mean by this is that you could upgrade The following items: magnets, coolers, heaters, and springs (these are just examples) like you can upgrade weapons. This would give resources more use, and allow us to make even crazier contraptions. Of, course this will apply to many more items such as printers or maybe even batteries. Oh, and finally these items will probably have to overlap their upgrades though so it might be difficult to see what printers have in common with magnets.1 point

I hate Lean Body... (Though I do miss Little but Strong Bear, who had Lean Body, but she was snatched away by Bluebird Bear on Bear Island while I wasn't paying attention )1 point

I know some commands, but I use it so rarely that I forgot how to open it up. I think something along the lines of FN+F1 but don't quote me on that. Also the console is very buggy be aware of that1 point

Basically what I am going to do is make tons of savefiles on different islands of your choice and share the best or luckiest ones with you! I will not make any progress, just have the starters so you can ‘pick’ their genes without using the console of course others can do the same, and we can all share our best starting pairs. All of the saves I make will be in slot four. i will start this tomorrow. Which islands are your favorites so I know which islands to start on?1 point

Here's some of my savefiles! Farsea Feathers (note: this is a HUGE save that is spread out. So just be aware) Slot2.nichesave Breaking Dawn (also humongous.) Slot0.nichesave And my Larkspur Clan for good measure Slot3.nichesave (i think this is it. tell me if it isn't) sorry they all have too many nichelings! It may get hard to keep track of them all1 point

@Philo I'm fairly certain this is an Emma creature, but of course, no achievement. Also, if it unlocks only with females, then I still should've gotten it, since I got two female Emmas previously (and another male, but I didn't name that one). Here's the save file if you need it (Not sure which one it is, might be both) Slot2.nichesave ttc-Karg.nichesave1 point

Oh! Once when I was playing one of my saves, I came across two wander Nichelings. They were both cubs. Both derpsnouts, so I was questioning; Are they siblings? Then I found their mother, took all three of them in and said to my screen. "Here are your children, Ma'am."1 point

@alyssa1864 Have you seen these suggestions??? It's like adopting nichelings! I want them added NOW!1 point

oml- -adOPtS- Wait, what if you could adopt Nichelings, if they were real of course.1 point

Yay!!! That kind of stuff is super important if you want to back up a savefile. For example if you want to use the console, which can have some huge bugs that can crash the game, you go back to that hidden folder and copy the save you are going to experiment on. Then you put the copy in a safe place so if you get stuck at night for example (one of the major console bugs) you can delete the save and put the backup back into its slot! It came in very handy for my sister. She was playing a save and accidentally took only one nicheling on a port to a new island. Thanks to a backup, (and me for finding the folder! lol) she did not lose much progress at all.1 point

No 3847, would've had much more if half of the time playing them wasn't spent in the snow biomes,, (The most food I've had in any of my tribes [that wasn't from the console] was roughly 7000, on a wolf pack tribe back in the snow update, because I just camped on a grassland island filled with berry bushes) They also have 1053 nesting material and 24 creatures (Most they've ever had was 44 members, back when I actually let wanderers into the tribe,,)1 point

https://niche.wikia.com/wiki/Challenges Click this link to go to the Niche Wiki Challenges page (I actually created the page originally and other people have added their challenges on as well) My favorite challenge: Whim of Fate. Explained here. You can also look up Seri! Pixel Biologist! on YouTube and find her Whims of Fate videos- she's the original creator of the challenge.Make sure you do everything correct, as it makes the game sooo much fun. My Whims save has lasted more than 600 days! My second most played savefile has about 200 days, so..1 point

Ooh. That seems challenging because you may not have any females or males with different immunities. I may try that.1 point

I think you are going down the wrong path. The Mac path for SAVEfiles is this: ~/Library/Application Support/unity.Team Niche.Niche - a genetics survival game/Saves you may have been following the LOGfiles path.1 point

Sure! Maybe this will help. If you are still having trouble I might be able to help, no guarantees though If you find the savefile folder, simply paste the new file into an empty slot. BUT it has to be the same slot. You cannot put my Slot4 savefile before Slot3 or it won't work. If Your Slot 4 is already taken, copy the savefile and move it to a different folder to save it. Then delete the original and insert the new file.1 point

Or linear motion track. Consists of rails and magnetic carriage. Rails don't obstruct movement, but can be damaged. Anything attached to carriage moves with it. It is possible to detach current parts and attach new ones if they are detached from main drone and there is a part in 1.5 range. Has speed slider. Has following signals: move left/right (tricky as it is, could use "move to green/red dot" instead, 'cause we have no absolute directions); detach; attach; free parts detected. Just like motorized hinge, but linear movement. Why? "Pneumatic doors", more complex factories - all require linear movement. As an example, collecting bio barrels in one go would be much easier, if I could move my magnet with a barrel inside my ship's cargo section. Leaving barrel outside or using chain magnets is so risky. And, obviously, can't build a decent carrier without this.1 point

Rogue males mate with pregnant ladies, the friendly neighbourhood bearyena, teens, males, clams and the seagrass, all resulting in the same untraceable notification. Walruus deer eat your creatures whole and leave only the skin behind. Meat eating plants now have a 7 tile radius and wander the island. Food rots after two days. All nests are replaced by dancing apendages every time it rains. Dodomingoes get the respect they deserve and develop into winged rogue ladies. Rabbils steal the shape of your young and drain their lifeblood, replacing them with an infertile copy. All berries are replaced by extra crunchy eyeballs, giving the "existntial despair" debuff (complete with a spelling error).1 point

That drawing looks fantastic, I'm in love! And having bioluminescent nichelings could open some doors for doing things with the underwater genes/environment too, which would be very cool!1 point

I like the idea of bioluminescent nichelings, and this picture is a good representation of how it could look. It reminds me very much of the Na’vi from the movie Avatar.1 point
