  2. Here are a few more of the bugs just for convenience! (Some of these will actually break your game:) Edit: Some of these may have been fixed. Glitch One- Age Faster How to Preform: Do a buttload of console commands on one creature. Like, a lot. If you're successful, your creature should have aged way faster. (I've even gotten to the point where the creature died the next day...) Solution: After you're done editing the genes of your creature, use the console command "increaseage [negative value]". There is a separate bug for that, though. Glitch Two- Big Head How to Preform: Edit any of the creature's genes apart from snout or eye genes. Your creature's heads should be much larger now. Solution: ??? Glitch Three- Tiny Head How to Preform: On the day a creature is born, edit their eye genes. Their head should be (amusingly) smaller now. Solution: End the day and the head will return to normal size the next day. Glitch Four- Forever Night How to Preform: It only happens on random, possibly after you have made a ton of commands. Effects: It'll be a certain time of day (apart from daytime) forever and nothing will spawn. Also, days won't add up, and it won't appear on the sun icon. Solution: ??? (Thanks to my friend Ollie-Mint for the screenshot) Glitch Five- Reverse Aging How to Preform: Decrease a creature's age to the point where their age is a number smaller than zero. Then exit the game and come back to that save. Effects: Your creature is now permanently looking down. And, since the game registers them as a child, they are now prone to blue-bird attacks. Solution: Age them up again by using the console using the command "increaseage [positive value]". Glitch Six- "I can't see!" How to Preform: When you edit a creature's genes, and they run out of turns, their eyes will close but you can still move their head. Solution: Exit the game and come back. Glitch Seven- Multiple Identity Disorder How to Preform: Edit any creature's genes, and their pictures in the UI and Family Tree will be what they originally were. Solution: ??? Edit: WAIT!!! I found another glitch! I totally forgot about it. Introducing, Glitch Eight- "That'sa strange child..." How to Preform: Pull up the console and use the command "AddStatusEffect pregnant" to any creature. Doesn't matter which gender or what age, just impregnate them using the console. Then move said creature to a nest, end the day, and voila, hell has arrived at your doorstep. Effects: Sometimes, these guys will destroy your save. No, seriously. Sometimes if you spawn in a bunch of them, the save file will disappear after you exit the game. Solution: There is no known solution. These guys just stick around for a long time. Sorry, Jimmy. (Thanks to Wiki contributor Gemthedragon and my Steam friend Echotuft for these! The one on the left is the newest version of these demonic headless creatures.) Sorry for the wall of text, and I'm sure there's more bugs I haven't discovered yet!

  3. There weren't many exciting events afterward. The swamp-squirrel just discovered a wild side of himself. An army of digging trunks was born. Don't mind Firestar. Please don't ask me why the bearyena is giving anyone the cold shoulder, either. Stories sometimes need an ending. Will yours?

  4. It would be useful to have a clipboard to put copies of multiple parts that you can use for later projects. That way you can quickly access different structures and systems you’ve created in the past and drag them straight into your new build saving a bunch of time.

  6. I agree that Niche is a little overpriced for what it delivers (a lot of games over $20 would break my budget,) but it's called Niche: a Genetics Survival Game and not Niche: a Spore-Knockoff just with Cuter Graphics and Nutrition Survival Game for a preeetty good reason...

  7. Needless to say, Beetle was a pessimistic child and an even more disgruntled adult. Not the strangest of coincidences nor the highest of luck would rouse a reaction from her frozen heart. 7. Her children, however, she would not let know of struggle. She found a friend in the equally grumpy swamp-squirrel. And would be the first to stay far away from burning grass and frozen mountains. Willow asks about her childhood, her tradition, and even if oh so careful and oh so cute, She never answers.

  8. Suggestion: Instead of making it so albinos can only have shortsighted/blind eyes, just make it where if they have regular eyesight they get -1 eyesight, so then it's the equivalent of having shortsighted eyes. If they are already shortsighted or blind, this won't happen and they'll retain their poor/nonexistent eyesight.

  9. Right now albinism in niche is a desirable gene due to it's beutiful looks, even tough it removes all camoflauge. In real life albino animals have a really small change of surviving. They lack protection from UV and have bad eyesight. I have had rats with red eyes, and they all had bad eyesight. (I haven't had an albino rat, but many colors like marten come with red eyes.) So my suggestion is to edit following stats on albino nichelings: remove all heat recistance make it so that albino nichelings can only have blind or shortsighted eyes This is just to make the game more realistic. Albinism is currently too easy to survive with. If a lot of people don't want it, we could make it a sandbox option! 10. So, this would basically be a new pattern color with two possible outcomes: if a nicheling has only one copy of the gene, then their pattern glows in the other color present, and is purely aesthetic. If a nicheling has two copies of the gene, then it would glow in a random, bright color (like toxic body). Maybe having two copies would add +1 attractiveness out of water, and in water fish would come toward the bioluminescent nicheling.

  11. Right now albinism/melanism completely takes away all camouflage stats, and I think it's kinda unfair. What I'm suggesting is that albinism gives +2 or 3 camo in the mountains, and melanism gives +2 or 3 camo in the jungles. I think it's unfair that a big-eyed ape is gonna go after my melanistic creature even though there's a creature with gray fur standing right next to it...

  12. There are many players who do challenges in Niche already. I think it would be great if you could design challenges and also include a win condition. That way, the game will make sure you can't cheat and tell you when you reached the goal you set.

  13. It would be more realistic, if a creature could actually get a crippled paw in battle or a scar that gives them a distasteful appereance, perhaps even loose an eye. The chance could be higher if much damage is dealt at one time. That would make the whole thing more interesting and you would have to be more careful.

  14. Weapons longer or wider, which produce heat due to firing.

  15. Dear Fawn Studios. Will it be possible to upgrade the melee/digging weapons in later installments of Nimbatus. I would love to make a drill with faster/longer digging range so my drone doesn't catch on the planet, or have the ability to make a thermite charge from base TNT by giving it fire, digging, longer life (for the fire after the explosion), and more particles so it has a more devastating effect. I would love to see a tech tree just for melee weapons as it would give them more of a use.

  16. I agree; but when we go too deep down that rabbit hole, we begin losing the more casual players, and Nimbatus NEEDS to stay accessible, to be successful. I think they're going to lose too many players, if they lose non-programmers. That said, SOME gates can benefit from extra inputs without much added confusion - AND and OR are good examples. Anybody can understand A OR B OR C. I would not use a selection number, though. I'd just have an input list, and the last entry be a '+' that you can add an input with. Prefix each input with a trash can icon, to remove it.

  17. Yes this is something we'll definitely have to look at. The logic should not be related to the speed of your computer.

  18. Why are the outputs named so counter-intuitively? Clearly the craft is tilted right...why does it activate "Tilted Left" then?

  19. @Spooky Goggles-kun I'd have a question about forever night. Is this the game breaking bug? What is a game-breaking bug, then? Exiting the game fixes it on my laptop. Does it refer to having to reload the save? Or has it caused some games to be permanently stuck? Or is it related to mechanics as with the fast aging? I am confused. About how often it breaks... seems related to tribe size. I might be wrong, though. It never broke with 2 creatures even with a lot of edits, pretty close to always with around 30 and only one edit. But that was on my not-made-for-gaming laptop. Some two seconds freezing was a given. On PC the gap between the numbers was larger.

  21. However, Alore was sick. To make matters worse, she had to choose between sacrificing her only child to the looming sky, or her friend to the cold. The Gods did not let her pick. Leila would be torn to shreds after suffering the cold's grasp.

  22. 1. The hybrid Eagle can defend himself while being fast. He killed the bearyena attacking Lako, but he just wasn't strong enough to meet his child. 2. Is bad Luck heritary? Sparrow was too slow to escape. After being chased out of the Oasis and away from her mother's bones, she at least met a rather charming rogue. 3. And this... Would be where things got weird.

  23. My understanding is that weapons are inherently different from other blocks, and that this is difficult to implement. I would like an upgrade tree for every category of items that exists, including gates to unlock new items. Armor, mechanics, fuel and energy, engines, weapons, sensors, logic. (Logic upgrades would probably consist primarily of unlocking new components.)

  24. I hate Lean Body... (Though I do miss Little but Strong Bear, who had Lean Body, but she was snatched away by Bluebird Bear on Bear Island while I wasn't paying attention )

  27. Here's how my save went so far (Just gonna post all screenshots I currently have of it ) The starters My first patterned creature Napoleon ice cream wanderer, blame him for the no immunity trait (and other wanderers but shh) Just an overview of the island before I set off The first Purr snouted creature after the starter Another one pretty pretty, if only she didn't have such bad genes Mu first albino since ttc - Karg's early days, also he's the healthiest creature in the tribe currently,, Just another picture of the albino to end it off

  28. 1. Coconuts are heavy, and I’m pretty sure creatures aren’t made out of steel. 2. Can you elaborate a little more? 3. Yes, more biomes would be wonderful, but you should be a little more specific. Do you wish to see a tundra? A volcano island? 4. That probably won’t happen, but nice idea. 5. For the third time: Can you be more specific? 6. It would be amazing to create your own custom islands, but how would ya do that? I’m not trying to bash you, these are just my viewpoints on your suggestions. Have a great weekend!

  29. Interesting, I haven't thought about that. I can't say for certain, but I think we update our logic in the "Update" loop, which runs depending on how fast your computer is. Maybe we have to move that logic to the "fixed Update", which is how the physics engine calculate things and should run at an even interval, regardless of your computer. Maybe that would mitigate the problem a bit. But I can't say how easily this can be done.

  30. I didn't play with the old graphics (I'm too much of a noob lol) but I have to say, I REALLY like the colorful tiles, it's very appealing to me. Spit snouts...not so much 😛

  33. Interesting idea, though personally I'm not sure I really like it. It takes so long to kill dodomingos for little reward, having them get even more annoying by taking over nests for their own and attacking you if you try to eat their young...it feels like something that would get rather irritating than be an interesting thing to deal with once you'd experienced it once or twice.

  34. I'm not a fan of this idea. While baby dodomingos would be cute, I don't think that this is necessary.

  35. I like the idea of bioluminescent nichelings, and this picture is a good representation of how it could look. It reminds me very much of the Na’vi from the movie Avatar.

  36. I drew a mockup of a pattern I think would look nice. I based it off of fish, which is why the glowing color is blue. Nice idea btw!
