  1. So Paris for you is like D.C. for me - too accessible to be special. I get it. Her name is Lisa - she had a name when I got her. Nobody knows where she got it. I'm hoping to lure her out, but in three weeks, I only have her willing to venture out yup the kitchen counter when I'm asleep, or not home. She is getting braver, though. It was three days before she was brave enough to eat.

  2. What's the event in Europe like? Bet you got cool swag to give out. Is that all he's doing in Paris, though? It's PARIS! I got a cat myself. A shelter girl. She's trusting me, now, purring and enjoying petting, but she's still afraid to leave her 'spot' atop the kitchen fridge. I leave her evening food out, so that she has to come out for it at night. Progress is slow, but she's making progress.

  5. Hey @Lurkily We're all a bit tired out from the Nimbatus Early Access launch Slowly recovering! We're working on a patch right now that fixes some problems. We will very soon publish a road map with what we'll work on next. @ArnoJ and me will head over to Paris later this week for Game Connection Europe. Nobody is getting married

  6. I thought that maybe a general thread for stray fawn related gifs could be amusing I'll start by posting a gif I captured in the Nimbatus Sumo tournament today which made me laugh out loud. My spinning drone went up against one that used a detachable magnetic battering ram. As usual the battering ram went skittering off the screen. But much to my surprise the lump of magnets found it's way back into the arena, crashing into its own core. The opponent's core then got crushed between me and the ram, and that's when the core's thrusters went nuclear and shot the poor guy's core out of the arena like a bullet XD

  11. Thanks for the quick reply. I seem to remember some developers (not all of them professional, mind you) who most simply upload each new version onto their websites. Legend of Grimrock comes to mind, in terms of DRM-free games. Still, being sure it requires a lot more work than I imagine, I will wait. Good luck with everything, and may your wishes be processed by our Great Drone Overlord.

  12. I'm not sure if this was a bug, or some weird side effects, but apparently eating the springs caused enough damage to the enemy's sumo to make the whole thing explode with such catastrophic force that the match was declared over prior to the enemy's core leaving the arena. (if you look in the bottom right corner you can see the ring color change to red). Anywho, I was entertained

  13. Hi pack! We discussed with the whole team and these are the results of the second community voting The following features will be implemented in the next update! More customization options for sandbox mode Unlock gene menu notifications Insectivorous nichelings New gene: Bat Head New gene: Savanna Horns Customizable and Programmable Gem Colors * Please note that this feature will be added in a way simpler way than suggested. Players will have the option to write down color codes in a special file in their game's folder. Additionally the new update will feature: New gene: Bat Wings (We already prepared these for the flight update) 2 new bears (These are Kickstarter rewards) Customizable animal names (Since we have customizable gem colors, this is a very low effort task. Players will have the option to write down names in a special file in their game's folder.) How where these features chosen? We evaluated the 20 highest rated features based on their effort in the sectors programming / art / game design. Higher voted features are priorised. The highest rated suggestion "More customization options for sandbox mode" is a big feature with a very high programming effort. So all other features chosen were required to have very low programming effort. We hope to release the next update in Q1 2019. Now, let's discuss what kind of stuff we want to be able to customize in the sand box mode Head over here to post your suggestions: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/forum/70-customization-options-for-sandbox-mode/ Cheers, Your Stray Fawn Team

  14. So, we got a family tree and a day-counter, but we don't have a timeline?? Uh, why not? Programming, Goggles-kun... That'd be a ton of money, Goggles-kun... I'm thinking there'd be a button you can click to pull up a timeline of your tribe. If the timeline gets too long, there'd be a separate page for the continued part. Simple enough! "But wait; what exactly would go on the timeline, Goggles-kun?" Shut it Francis. Oh, wait. That's a wonderful idea. Here is a list of what would go on that timeline... The names of your first creatures (They go at the start of the timeline, along with...) The island you first started on When you migrate to a new island (Maybe not the name of the island? And it would say "You migrated to a new island on day [number]") Creatures you added to the line (Maybe there could be an option on the family tree where you can add a creature to a timeline, and it would appear as "[thiscreature] was born on day [number]"?) This is what I'm thinking it would look like: For the "Add to Timeline"... I'm thinking once you click the "Add to Timeline" button, it automatically turns to "Remove From Timeline"? Anyways, that's all, and stay tuned.

  15. If more people wanted to write stories we could probably get a stories subforum. So far there hasn't been a lot of demand, though I'll keep it in the back of my mind because I like the idea, together with a fanart subforum, that would be nice

  16. @Goggles-kun - I was going to keep them to a single thread to prevent that. Since there’s no specific subforum, that seems to make the most sense.

  17. Hi you can call me masterfeff same as my profile. I’m a New Yorker who has enjoyed playing nimbatus in his free time. Around 3days in playtime atm. I absolutely love sumo mode. Hoping to see more things like this mode implemented. I post some of my drones on YouTube but you can also look me up in steam under workshop for a list of creations I made. I hope you have a wonderful day. Thanks for reading :)

  18. I kind of like the idea that instead of being a big hero, you're just some minor operator in an agency that maintains planetary ecosystems and habitability. You're a cross between janitorial staff and animal control.

  19. hey ! my name's ashton! i've been playing niche for over a year now, but i decided to get more active in the community because i've grown to have a deep love for the game. i have over 200 hours on record played 😅 i really love the series warriorcats, which got me to play the game in the first place. i'm even planning a warriorcats challenge...

  20. Nimbatus is a pretty complex game with a lot of features that need to be cataloged and understood. Games like this usually have a wiki page, but Nimbatus's sucks. I've already taken it upon my self to at lest get all of the basics down. I didn't know that reckages could give you resouces until 2 days ago, a wiki would have been helpful. All im saying is that we seriously could use a better wiki page.
    1 point
  21. Or a way to log into the wiki inside the game, and the game could then use that info, and - or submit it to steam.
    1 point
  22. Hmmm there would either have to be some sort of steam-affiliate wiki, or some way to link steam and our wiki. But if we can;t do that the devs would have to award people one by one.

  23. Works much like the altitude sensor, it gives an output if something is farther/closer to it than a set distance. but you can set what it looks for. If there are multiple things that it can detect (such as enemies) it only detects the nearest one. it can detect the sumo enemy, level enemies, the hopper, the sumo border, the center of the planet (this feature is in the altitude sensor already, maybe replace the altitude sensor?), the surface of the planet ( because that would be necessary because absolute distance would be used instead of relative distance and planet sizes differ), the drone core, collectible objects (bio-barrels, broken ship pieces, etc.), beacons when they’re added, and anything else that I forgot to put in this suggestion.

  24. Nah, no swag for this event. We are hanging out in the business area, doing meetings (with other devs mostly). We are going because Nimbatus is nominated for the Game Connection award and you have to be there if you win ^^ We are only staying in Paris for 2.5 days, so not a lot of time to walk around. For us Paris is only about 1h away if you fly over. Very cute What's her name? I used to have cats too.

  25. Here is a gif file showing that disconnected parts can power e.g. shields on the main unit, and a battery (or, here, a tank) on the main unit can power appliances detached from it. This does work with capacitors, as well. It does seem like this is not intended behaviour, as properly decoupled parts indeed won't work this way, so I mixed together a bug and a feature yesterday. The last crafted battery seemingly won't run out because there are a lot in the open already, and they power the shields through self-recharging. You can see the tank on the main unit running empty from the detached thrusters, too. Said batteries could be printed empty that it would not really hinder this craft's capabilities, except for the capacitors since they cannot recharge. As it stands though, I do not possess the entirely up-to-date game, and rely on a pirate copy of it until it is available for sale without having to go through Steam (I hate Steam and most of what it represents, what with being pushed to consume games and all). This glitch might have been resolved already, although I doubt it since I could not see any post about it on these forums. Just in case, I'll make a post about it. As for the rest of my earlier post, I fundamentally disagree with making energy a complicated mess just to optimise a few specialised crafts.

  28. You are allowed to create mods. Unfortunately we don't offer modding tools yet, so the only way is to do it is to decompile and recompile our code. So it's a bit difficult to add new parts or textures. @OmegaRogue created some mods before, maybe he can help you. I suggest to chat him up here or on our discord I only request that you don't mess with the steam leaderboard entries for drone sumo, as this would be unfair to other players and we don't allow it. Cheers, Micha

  29. I've heard of the Whims of Fate challenge, but I've never actually seen any of those videos. It might be similar, but I based the numbers and stuff of my generator off this steam post by MysticTopaz (obviously you could use it for the Whims of Fate challenge as well)

  30. Good question. We do like the straight forward approach we have with steam during early access, as it allows us to use steam workshop and bring out updates without much effort, wheter for us nor the players. We haven't decided about the full release, though.

  31. Finally a simple enough timeline to maybe implement!

  32. Good day! I am very much unsure where to post such question, so hopefully I am not too far off here. Are you planning to release a version of Nimbatus that doesn't go through Steam? I am very much interested in it, but won't buy from this platform for a number of reasons unrelated to your studio, and Humble seems to sell the same Steam version anyway. Other platforms such as Origin are also a no-no for me. Thanks in advance, and may the Great Drone Overlord grant you assistance in your endeavours.

  33. Cool idea ;D I'm also loving your number choices lol But in all seriousness, this would be really cool to add! If a tribe is really old, it can sometimes get confusing on what islands you're looking for, and all the important Nichelings born.

  34. I do have one question. Why isolate the inputs and outputs generated by the internal logic? I like this idea, but . . . what need is there? My idea of a processor was always just a box that you can put logic parts into, to make drones more compact and enable cleaner designs. If you want to isolate the internal logic so it doesn't interfere with larger logic schemes, you can always prefix the tags you use with 'processer 1' or 'P1' or 'snarfleblat' or whatever you want. Right now I use prefixes like 'Core,' 'SD' (subdrone), and etc to separate the logic involved in multipart drones. Beyond that, I am absolutely in favor of a way to handle more complex logic in smaller packages. Intelligent drones can be prohibitive to build because the logic is so ridiculously space-consuming. I find myself considering multiple factories, so that I can jettison one logical behavior set and manufacture another, instead of just making a capable drone.

  36. While trying my hand at making an intelligent pusher, I had a match that looked simple enough. Little did I know that there would be a sudden surprise. Even with both bots completely destroyed, I was still considered victorious. A win is a win, even if it's by an inch I guess

  39. Oh, new member introduction thread. I guess I count as new member so; I am Baka Red of Baka Rangers (league of legends team of friends who don't seek glory, but only wish to defend the Howling Abyss against evil coming from the other side of the bridge), but I adore the original Baka Rangers from Negima and kinda made my friends adopt their name as our team name. We Baka Rangers are from Finland and we are all working guys (ie: we even get paid!) in IT industry. I was brought to these forums by Nimbatus, which I found from Steam Early access last Saturday (I think), and I already have nearly two days worth of hours with it and it is only Thursday now. I see lots of promise in it, and I hope to see it even more purrfect in future. Like my name suggests, I am a big fan of anime and manga, like many others here seem to be. I also play lots of computer games (league is pretty much the only multiplayer I play. The others are solo games like Stellaris, Skyrim, Minecraft, Civilization (V in my case)... and lots of others, but I guess those four and league are my biggest ones for now. The comments I make are quite likely be like my counterpart's comments (They are called Baka Rangers for reason[For non Anime fans: Baka means stupid/fool/idiot]), but please bear with me. Oh, when do we get VR Nimbatus?

  40. Hi there! I was a fan of Spore in þe old days, and honestly the Niche system is what Spore wished it could be. I am here because I was hugely into animals as a kid, real or extinct or imaginary, and despite being ~30 I still want to be a dragon when I grow up. In other words, I have so many suggestions.

  41. Moin moin, i am just some random gamer dude from germany calling himself R3zn4K online. Found a gif about Nimbatus around November 2017 and liked the idea. Bought the game after i find out it was available on Steam. Hobbys: I guess i could say watching anime, driving my motorbike, playing videogames... obviously. Oh and sorry for bad English.

  43. Your guess is going in to the right direction 😃 But as the Early Access Release is more sandbox like than a campaign and the factions we have planned aren't really in the game, yet, we could say, that there is not a real lore for now. PS: The main visual should give you a small hint on what's to expect in the future, too

  44. Hi! I'm new here! I came here to help suggest ideas for the game niche but I'm since fairly new to this so I just wanted to meet some people! I don't like my actual name so you can just call me Moo I'm a geek who likes eating, gaming, playing volleyball and sleeping, I also like reading from time to time, hanging out with my friends and swimming when I can!
