  1. I feel like starting a new file and sharing my progress with you guys. In this run, I will attempt to form Nichetopia. What's that? It's basically a Niche metropolis. A thriving society where food is plentiful, and it is populated with perfect beautiful nichelings. For this run I will need: 1) Over 2500 food 2) Over 150 nichelings 3) More than 70% of the nichelings are "pureblood" that means homozygous body genes (head, hand, tail, etc) 3a) Bonus points if they all have the same cosmetic traits as well (fur pattern, fur color, eye color, etc) I got close to these numbers before, but I just want to see if I can push my limit. How many nichelings can I really support without everyone going hungry and such. I'll try my best!

  2. Our first baby is born. In a utopian society, everything must work efficiently. I mean, how else are we going to get so much food and such? So that also means an efficient naming system. Identification serial number: M-MB-X2-G2-NP-BH-R2-R2-MX-6-AS

  5. It's sometimes annoying when I try to find my friendly bearyena, but it just keeps running away. It would be good if nichelings with bearyena snout could call for friendly bearyenas. It would also be an useful way to call help if nicheling is attacked by a bearyena or some other predator.

  6. This suggestion will be in a series of suggestions called "Random Suggestions". Well, as long as I remember to do them. So, since I am an original human being, I'm going to make a suggestion about a new animal: the Fodger! "But wait," you say, slightly recoiling away from my suggestion. "What exactly is a Fodger?" Well, a Fodger is very simple: it's a combination between a Red fox and an American Badger. (If you want, devs, you could also make it a European Badger. Also, do you capitalize animal names? I dunno.) I'd imagine it would have the speed of a fox and the strength of a badger. And some cold resistance. Where They Appear: Long Winter Frost Lands Summer Mountains First Snow Grass Adventure (Maybe?) Stats: +2 speed +3 attack strength +2 resistance to cold +1 vision (badgers have bad vision) After some research, I learned foxes and badgers have outstanding night vision and smelling and hearing. +4 smelling +3 hearing Other Facts: When killed, they drop 10 food points. They live for 20 days with no damage. They will actively hunt rabbils and steal berries. They'll also steal healing plants. Like Walrus deer, Fodgers are neutral until provoked. Anything else I need to add?

  7. As they are small enough to be prey to bluebirds... you'd have a chicken sized bird, stronger than a bear. Just how does that work? Further, flighted animals have little defense. If they're OP in the strenght department, this part here really pushes what is believeable to me. A balance bear might not be the strongest, but since they ambush nurseries in deep winter, they certainly are trouble. They're balanced that way with their lifespan. Your RRP would kill the average nicheling in three hits. Three hits. Give your early to mid game basic hunter a strenght of 6. Thats 7 attacks (Edit: lifespan is 40, not 45) And you have two dead and one badly hurt nicheling.

  9. You mean from your story? Or our own nichelings? Mildrain was my faw from this story too. You're good at drawning nichelings!

  10. Finally made it to the northern part of the island. With big-bodied nichelings that took forever. They are so slow! I wish this game was better at differentiating which tiles go to the island and which ones stay. Is that raised tile part of the port? Omg it would just be so much easier if they made them very clearly a different color. Well, I'm too lazy to wait another turn to get all the green tiles filled with nichelings so let's go. That's it for tonight. I'll continue more tomorrow.

  11. Whenever I get really bored, I just stop playing, sometimes for weeks or months, it can take up to half a year or even more (though usually not with Niche but I had and still have it with other games I play occasionally) until I really get the urge to play the game again. I don't think there is a better fix if challenges don't do it for you Maybe the next update will help out

  12. A dystopia? Me? Pffff... No way. Bwahaha... Every nicheling has a place is Nichetopia! Just look at F-MB-W2-G2-V2-BH-N2-R2-SX-4-G2 here. She was born sickly, and so has been separated from the rest of the tribe. But even omegas are still useful contributing to our wonderful society by gathering food. She looks so happy picking poison berries and cracking coconuts! Ignore that she is pregnant with a rogue male and I probably will never let her give birth.

  13. It's been a few generations since, and our population looks like this now. Little F-MB-XW-G2-NV-H2-N2-R2-M2-6-KA is my first niche born with heat body, and she got me the achievement "King of the Mountain" My screen always glitches out in the corner like this when I get an achievement in this game. Oh well

  16. I agree with @medicine cat. Breaks are important. Every once in a while I need to just step away from a game I'm playing, especially if it's the only game I'm playing on a daily basis.

  20. Nuvan and F-MB-XW-GN-NP-BH-R2-R2-M2-6-BG had a child Also Eve had a few more children, but I mean plz... We're gonna have over 150 nichelings living in Nichetopia. Can't post every child being born. Welcome our first child of foreign blood. Identification serial number: M-B2-W2-G2-NP-MB-R2-R2-MP-4-GK

  21. An outsider! Let's make friends. Nichetopia is perfect society, so of course we are kind to all foreign immigrants. Welcome. Though he has a highly inefficient ID, he is allowed to keep it to remember his history and where he came from.

  26. Yeah, the hounds are toughies. My friend purposely spawned them in because some rabbit was a sacrifice: Also I'm a Willow main (Top to bottom: My friend Coduk spawned in all the hounds. We don't really talk anymore. The middle gal was my old username (THE DOG and Friends), and Kira is another friend I don't talk to anymore.)

  29. Geez, a bird that is stronger than a balance bear or killer bearyena? While having insane speed? Even the female is as strong as a normal one. Maybe nerve the attack to 2 and lifespan to 30?

  30. I like what you made here. Something that might make it better is if there were a nest it would go back to every couple of nights. If you could get rid of the nest than they would leave the island altogether or in the den, there would also be little children. If this happens and you killed them, then the parent might come after you or leave entirely. Or if you killed someone and no one can collect it before night, the Skunkadillo will sneak by and take the food. Same with the berries bushes if no one is near them. But I like what you made here.

  31. I feel like the nests we have now in the game do not really match up with the biome. like nests built in the water should look more like seaweed and coral or maybe a nest built in the mountain biome should look like those dark colored plants you find on the mountain with white flowers in it, the jungle biome nest should look colorful. Basically what I am trying to say we should have different types of nests depending on what biome they are currently located in.

  32. I'm logging my current playthrough with stories! The extra rules I'm playing under are being updated as I go -- some things I didn't even think of until a little later, so please bear with me and if anything gets confusing, let me know. Most Recent Update: Posted rules Contents: Rules Here are the rules I'm following, in case anyone's interested: Alphas - There is one alpha pair at all times. The children of the alpha pair are betas. They tend to stick pretty close to the nest during their rule. After three nests, the alpha pair appoints a successor pair and steps down to the omega rank. Betas - Betas aren't mated, and may have no children. This rank is made up of the children of alphas, as well as any wanderers the clan finds. Alphas are randomly picked from betas with compatible immunity, regardless of family status. Omegas - The omegas are a mixed group. They are made up retired alphas, children of rogues, and the children of other omegas. Retired alphas are allowed one nest for every two alpha nests. Omegas don't pair up unless they're picked as alphas. Names - All children have the default names until their are adults, when they go through a ceremony and receive their true names. Priorities when Appointing Alphas: Compatible betas. Compatible beta-omega pairs. Incompatible betas. Incompatible beta-omega pairs. Retired alphas. Compatible omegas. Incompatible omegas. The goal in the inheritance rules is to see how long I can preserve a given alpha lineage. I may have to modify these rules based on in-game populations and whatnot. Right now it's working well, but I'm only just on the second island in story mode, before the Tiny Green. Next Up: The first chapter. I'll also edit this post with rules regarding deaths.

  35. F-MB-XW-G2-NV-H2-N2-R2-M2-6-KA Female Medium/Big (ears) No trait/Antenna for telling the Weather (A stands for Antler) Good eye genes (2 of them) Big Nose/Poison Venomous fangs Heat Body genes (2 of them) Nimble finger (2 of them) Hind legs, but I like to call them Runner legs cuz they're fast (and H stands for something else) Medium tail (2 of them) 6 fertility Immunities K and A X stands for things that rogues usually have. Like no antlers, derp snout, deformed paw, stinky tail, etc In my other files, I use H to stand for Hybrid. Bearyenna ears, face, claw, legs, etc (yeah i do use this naming system normally in other games, don't make fun of me) Actually at the beginning, I was using P for Poison fang, but I decided to change it to V. There are like 3 tails that start with S (stinky, swimming, scorpion) so I made V for scorpion tail. I'll use V for toxic body too.

  36. Another example of how our society functions so perfectly and efficiently! Siko here was an outsider we welcomed into our tribe. She doesn't have any genes that I want, so she will not be breeding. But there's always jobs open in food gathering! Everyone has a place in Nichetopia!

  38. I remember the other day, I was at my friend's house, and she was playing The Sims 3 (or something.) She never even gave her Sims jobs and didn't cheat in money, but she kept cheating in unicorns. It got to the point where her world was filled with unicorns (and dogs, too!) that her desktop crashed and she had to start a new save. It was funny

  39. 1. I'll change that. I just reasoned since badgers have terrible vision and foxes have pretty good vision, it would be 0 vision. 2. It's just my art style. They do have two hind legs, I just drew it so you couldn't see the other. Ugh! I hate it when people think animals I draw only have one hind leg! It's one of my trigger words.

  40. Might as well do more- I have time! Pebblestar has died, which leaves Lakeprickle, now Lakestar, a long time to be a leader with Littlewatcher, who is barely an apprentice. Despite the warrior code, Lakestar can't think that making an apprentice her deputy would be fitting, so she searches for a loner who is willing to take up the job. She searches with no success, and can't help but declare Littlewatcher her deputy upon her adulthood. But watch out; this makes Littlewatcher a bit cocky... On patrol, Littlewatcher finds a huge, strong male warrior named Lightsand. Lightsand has a strong sense of right and wrong and firmly believes that he is a fitting warrior to be a leader. This causes him to resent Littlewatcher slightly because she is next in line, much to her disappointment. Instead of mating with her, he has a kit with Lakestar. Though her loyalty lies with Pebblestar, her late mate, she sees no reason why she cannot forward the clan genetically, especially with such a strong, healthy warrior. They have Wildstorm. Here are father and son: Lakestar dies and Littlewatcher becomes the new clan leader, AKA Littlestar II (which sounds a little pretentious). She declares Lightsand deputy. As he grows, Wildstorm feels like his name doesn't fit him. In fact, he feels like Starclan is calling him to be a medicine cat! He goes to talk to Littlestar about this, and she encourages him and tries to help him any way she can to achieve his dreams. Lightsand isn't impressed by this and gets angry at his son for not being a warrior like his father, but Wildstorm is resolute, and with Starclan behind Littlestar II, he can't do much to protest. Wildstorm is renamed Mildrain. On patrol, he encounters Conejaw, an ambitious, strong she-cat. Attracted to her strong nature, Lightsand tries to woo her to no avail. Littlestar II is approached by Mildrain, and he tells her that he feels like Starclan has ordered the clan to migrate. The clan moves to a new island. Noticably larger than the last, it gives the clan both a feeling of rapture and anxiety in their chest as they look upon it.

  46. Hi, I am MemoryTheNicheling. I found a bug where if you try to set the weather to Snow via Console Commands, it jumps you far into the future (and claims it rained alot.) Please fix this bug. I got three unfairly acheived steam achievements because of this glitch. It only happened once, so I only have one screenshot of such a phenomena, but I assure you, it did happen. If you are wondering how I managed to find this bug, I was using a save file to test out various console commands to the game. This is my screenshot below. I did not catch the raining bit in it. And I only had three animals in my tribe at that point. I currently have ten, so its not very accurate as to where my tribe is now.

  47. Interesting idea, though personally I'm not sure I really like it. It takes so long to kill dodomingos for little reward, having them get even more annoying by taking over nests for their own and attacking you if you try to eat their young...it feels like something that would get rather irritating than be an interesting thing to deal with once you'd experienced it once or twice.
