Niche is all about adapting and thriving in your environment, as your nichelings evolve to fit the island you live in. However, once you are fully adapted to an island, you have to move on or nothing new will happen. In real life, species often evolve to keep up with other species. What I mean is that it would be really cool if there was the option to make the other species in the islands adapt too. It would make your time in the island much more entertaining and challenging. With this mode turned on, other animals have a chance of randomly mutating an extra stat, like a bunny with extra speed, bad eyesight, defense or more collecting. If depending on how well and how long this animal survives, it has a better or worse chance of "breeding". If it succeeds, other members of its kind will spawn with that extra stat, and over time, the stats that get passed on may completely change the species. For example, you could end up with a plague of faster, smarter bunnies with more defense, or a ridiculously overpowered bear with maximum speed. But you could also try to manipulate the populations, for example, killing bunnies with good stats and keeping ones with bad stats, eventually creating a population of blind, easy to catch bunnies. Maybe, cosmetic and behavioral mutations could also be added, like the chance for a dodomingo to be black or pink or an ape that does not like to attack nichelings. This would definitely make each island you visit more interesting, and more realistic!5 points

A) Give it all the power! -- Sneak attacks (The first attack on an enemy that hasn't targeted the nicheling) deal double damage. B) Eh... Maybe make it better at what it already does? -- +2 collecting, +3 stealth. C) Curse stealth! Who knows how it works, anyway? -- Velvet paw allows you to walk on snow and adds extra speed in the jungle. (To its current attributes) You know these tiles that you have to clear first before a nicheling can move on them? Not anymore with Velvet paw. D) All of these option are horrible. Leave the gene alone!4 points

You know that you won‘t live forever when your world is named New Game. However, back to the start. Each chapter will have a different narrator. The clan mourns the passing of their elders. Spring will start today. Sorrelwing may still doubt my abilities as a healer, but I have always been the better scholar. The seasons largely follow a pattern. Hillclan is still without Leader. Lakeclan is aging. I worry that too much young Blood will make them overly ambitious, overly eager to prove their standing. …. Heatherstar, always bellicose, attacked the Camp. We lost a Queen and Skysight. Cloudpaw will never hunt again. I would claim Heatherstar’s death the best for peace. If Lakeclan's new deputy wasn’t just as bad. Bramblestar is sharpening patrols. … Bramblestar was the best choice for leader. Starclan knows he trained half of our warriors. …. I still don’t know what to do with the prisoner. She has healed fully, but the camp is still being reinforced. Hornetclaw will deal with her. Surely, he would rather feed his kittens than a spy. Even if my Sister is too kind to see that. Cloudpaw is not taking her fate well. Bramblestar has still not made her a warrior. I suspect he wishes that I take an apprentice, but this “pupil” is simply too daft. … Ebonystar declared herself Leader. I heard the she-cat killed a Fox on her own. Does Lakeclan have a liking for reckless leaders? The gathering would soon turn awkward. Hornetclaw annouces her spy-pupil killed Cloudpaw. Can one become Leader without having trained an apprentice? … Blizzardpaw is learning well. Though not as pragmatic as her father, she will make a fine Healer one day.3 points

Lakeclan was befallen by an unknown sickness. My leader, Ebonystar, is left to rebuild her clan, fearing retaliation, fearing her facade of a strong clan to crack. But those deaths were not the only pawprint left on our lives. I am the first of the new generation, the sun burning my pelt, the waves hurting my ears. But immune. This is the price of the cure. … Adderstrike passed without naming a Healer’s apprentice. Ebonystar, though, long thought barren, had Hazelkit. All in all, those were joyful news for the gathering. If you forget that Hazelkit, only ostensibly not having the mutation, was the only survivor of the litter. I just would have loved to meet Blizzardspirit. Surely she isn’t as grumpy as her mentor? What kind of name is Bluestream, anyway? … The kind to slip and drown, apparently. Stagbelly made me fish all day. Why can’t I go hunting like Hazelpaw instead of dragging old, nagging cats out of the water? … Ebonystar refuses to give me or Snowheart a well-seeing apprentice. I know she wants Hazeljump to become Deputy one day, but she is too young to train another cat. Besides, we have no Healer. Blizzardspirit is offering to train her. Ebonystar will have to embrace her age and admit to a weakness. This isn't Hornetstar plotting to steal her only child! If she wishes to mourn an old, imaginary Clan order, she isn’t fit to be Leader. ... Snowheart wants equity in the Clan. But this, this kind of betrayal? How can they seek to abandon their former Mentor? _ _ _ Stagbelly sends Hazeljump off with Hornetstar. Erminepelt remains silent. Ebonystar is forced into banishment.3 points

DUSKCLAN 2- PART 3 Pigeongaze and Badgerear have grown up. Pigeongaze wants to have multiple mates at the same time, while Badgerear wants to leave the clan and become a loner. (From now on, I'm just gonna give them their two aspirations when they're born, that way it's easier to remember) Hollowshine gave birth to Seedcloud's kit, Toadnight. Unfortunately, she is quite sickly, but she will be able to live normally, except for having to stay away from other creatures. Toadnight wants to actually be mates with a rogue male, and have a strength gene in her mutation menu. At the same time, Weaselstar passed away, making Lavendermud leader, with Pigeongaze as her deputy. As Lionshine was about to pass away, he wanted another child. As Lavenderstar is now leader and needs time to adjust to her duties before having kits, Badgerear agreed to become pregnant with Lionshine's second and final child. The next day, she gave birth to Thrushblossom (the generator aid 'Brokengaze', but that sounded too cruel..). She wants to defeat a predator and... defeat a cat. I guess we know why her name starts with 'Thrush'... Okay, I just feel done. I'm sorry, but I don't feel like keeping up with writing this all down.3 points

Mintbreath. That's all. Wait, I just used my random generator to see if any funny ones came up, and it came up with Puddlefuzz. It makes me think of a puddle of fur. Ew.3 points

As a jungle gene, adding speed in that eviroment would be useful. As it is, you have to clear certain tiles to move a nicheling on them. Velvet paw could forego that, allowing free movement through the underbrush. In Cold Biomes, it could allow you to walk on Snow. 1 tile for one velvet paw, 3 for a full set.2 points

If you do promise a timeline, in general its good to do a few things. 1= Over-estimate the time to give yourself some wiggle room. If you think it will take a month, say two months. If its done earlier, great! 2= Be transparent. If something happens which may extend the deadline just tell people about it as far ahead of time as possible. Did we say two months? Well it looks like it might be 3. Sorry bout that but we ran across some bugs that need crushing. 3= Avoid over promising things. That way if there's more features than was earlier announced, its seen as a little bit extra instead of a little bit less. Otherwise Im a very patient person, you guys take as long as you need. Thanks for giving us a heads up at all and a peek behind the curtain as far as the roadmap is concerned. The devs here seem like pretty cool people and I'm glad to have stumbled into Nimbatus along with its awesome community.2 points

Since the last update continuous fire of weapons like the grenade launcher and the rockets is just eye shattering With one or two shots the minor screen shake is OK but as you either get more of the weapon or keep firing the shake gets worse and is like a rave party. I currently do not have a screen recording program installed but I did upload a drone that will show anyone the issue. Look for "Full Auto Destroy" on the workshop then just press "numpad +" to create the issue shortly as the drones are deployed the screen will be so jittery that you will not want to look at it. Could you either reduce the maximum amount of shake or even include a toggle option in the settings to turn it off for people who don't like it or perhaps experience sickness from this sort of thing.1 point

Thanks, I figure something out, I didn't even know that you could add damage through the console, that sounds super usefull! Currently I am just drowning my 'dead' Nichelings, this sounds better1 point

I roll for a number of cats to die, who is more likely to win and which rank the deaths may hit. In the above, Lakeclan would have won, but Hillclan had way more warriors in Camp. So I modified for a costly victory. Heatherstar was very old. She could have lived otherwise, but died in a blaze for her aspirations. The amount of deaths was relative to clan size, had Lakeclan rolled a loss, they would have lost an about equal amount of cats in absolute numbers. Cloudpaw was horribly wounded because she was in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Skysight wanted to be a hero and died protecting the nursery. The Queen was the first cat to be ambushed. Lakeclan was out to steal kittens, not start an open fight. But Heatherstar is reckless and failed a stealth roll. In short, I cheat and go for likelihood, not for the if and how. The console helps to add damage by Bearyena attack. Not sure If you would like that, but it was somewhat necessary for story purposes.1 point

We (mostly @Roger and @ArnoJ) have started working on the racing mode Check out these very very early captures! This afternoon, we even did a little racing competition within the team. Roger offered to buy a dessert for the winner and the winner was...Roger! Splendid.1 point

Hi folks! Last week, @ArnoJ and me went to Game Connection in Paris. The main reason was to attend the award ceremony because Nimbatus was a nominee. Unfortunately, our train got stuck and we missed the whole ceremony! (We didn't win anyways so it wasn't a big problem xD) On the first day, we mostly walked around and talked to other exhibitors. There was a pretty fancy apéro too. Santé! #BestSelfieEver Back at the airbnb Arno and me played "Random Anime" It works like this: First Arno picked a letter, then me, then Arno again. And we had to watch one episode of whatever anime was the result of that. On the second day, we had lots of meetings, mostly with other devs to exchange marketing strategies. We got a free booth because we were a nominee which was neat In the evening we also went to a restaurant and ate Korean BBQ with some other devs / friends. The last day was the best! We had lots of free time and walked around Paris Games Week. And in the afternoon we went shopping ❤️ Aka we went to check out comics in 6 different shops And also did some sightseeing (but only if the things to see where in between comic shops xDD) The event was cool! We'd definitely like to go again The travelling is continuing though as I will be heading to Lithuania this Friday!1 point

Entity, I merged yours into this topic to preserve the 7 votes. Hence why the links to yours no longer work. Your post - perhaps because it's the oldest? - replaced the topic here, though. I'm not really entirely sure why - merging acts a little funny around here.1 point

Okay. Overpoweredalbinoedgynessclaw wandered throughout camp, looking for something to do. The other creatures were out chasing rabbils; Overpoweredalbinoedgynessclaw took no interest in such. She knew Underpoweredweakgreynimblefingers was in the camp, too, but he couldn't do much, since he was still a pup. Then, suddenly, there was a rustle in the bushes!1 point

How about instead of impenetrable skin, it just regenerates? I'm thinking of some flesh terrain with a background component that's left behind when it's destroyed. Any still-existing flesh terrain will naturally spread to refill these areas. I'm thinking that just that and maybe a few appropriate buildings/enemies and maybe an acidic core that acts suspiciously similar to lava cores might be enough to sell it as a planet-sized organism while keeping it at a level of programming difficulty closer to that of lava/ice planets. Could have missions to kill the giant creature, exterminate parasites from it, or heal it by removing/destroying foreign objects and blasting areas that won't heal with bio ammunition.1 point

It's been a few generations since, and our population looks like this now. Little F-MB-XW-G2-NV-H2-N2-R2-M2-6-KA is my first niche born with heat body, and she got me the achievement "King of the Mountain" My screen always glitches out in the corner like this when I get an achievement in this game. Oh well1 point

I agree that Niche is a little overpriced for what it delivers (a lot of games over $20 would break my budget,) but it's called Niche: a Genetics Survival Game and not Niche: a Spore-Knockoff just with Cuter Graphics and Nutrition Survival Game for a preeetty good reason...1 point
