If I were a nicheling, I would be a platypus, because I have a beak for a mouth. With lean body. I am not that thin, but I am kind of fast, and my friends used to call me matchstick on parties before. Maybe heat body... Brown mane and eyes with normal eyesight Normal hind legs swimming tail, because no other tail fits me. Nimble fingers/ wings. It depends. I get distracted easily, so its as if I was in the clouds, but I like to write, so that could mean nimble fingers. Big ears. I listen to waaaay to many things for my own good, An I am at home in hot areas. Antenna. I am a pacifist, and I often see things coming that my friends dont notice. MAXIMUM FERTILITY!!! I think, maybe. Maybe not. And everything else healthy. After reading this I realized, I really have 0 strength. Well, I prefer my current form anyways, but the feathers sometimes get in the way.3 points

Volume 1 - Adam/Continue Adam and Eve may have been aging fairly quickly, but they didn't give up and were ready to explore this vast, new island. The family settled at a spot where they could easily collect berries, while Barry agreed to go explore. Nil, Eve's only daughter, appeared to have trouble fitting in to her new environment. After all, she was born on the last island and taken to the newest one when she was only a wee kit. Eve reassured her that traveling was just part of life, and she'll find her role in this savage world one day. Tanukir, Eve's youngest son, quickly caught up with Barry after his departure to assist him on his journey of finding more creatures. All seemed to be well among the family. The children were getting along great, Adam and Eve agreed to have another kit, and-- Is that a goddamn blue bird. Eve, get your gun. Ignoring the bird, Eve gave birth to a new kit the next day. Sadly, she died as her kit was being born and left Adam & Nil to take care of them. The new kit was a girl, and Adam named her Velvet for her dark-red fur. Volume One - Adam/End Volume Two - Velvet Adam died of old age the following day, which left Velvet in Nil's care. She did her best to ward the blue bird away from her new sister, and actually did well to her surprise. Velvet soon got old enough to avoid the blue bird, so she and Nil decided to go find Tanukir and Berry. All seemed well until... Thivid08, we're on a search party. Not now! Back to Tanukir and Barry, they weren't having luck on finding some new wanderers. If there were any, they didn't seem to be interested in the two. Then, Barry discovered a tree stump, and called out to all available creatures in their area. No luck. He called out again. Still no luck. He was about to give up, until he called out one more time and attracted a female! "...She's better than nothing, I guess." Tanukir said to himself. Her name was Meana, and she was very sweet. Sweet enough to be a potential mate for Barry. TBA!3 points

If you were a nicheling, what would you look like and why? What are your genes? And what is your name or generated name? Post pics if you have the ideal creature that looks like you!2 points

Me: Oh, I wanna draw [insert somebody's name here]! *starts to make out the face. all seems to be well, except...* Damn! The right eye is too big! *erases right eye and makes it smaller so it compares to the left eye* wait... that smile with the new eye makes him look drunk. *erases smile and fixes it so he's frowning* now he just looks mad. *erases and tries to make a smile again... casually fails and makes him look drunk again* GAHHHHHHHHHHH *erases mouth and throws sketchbook out of window*2 points

Recently medicine cat created the pretty awesome warrior cats challenge with random generators: Now I have been thinking beaks and wings aren't really "immersive" warrior cats genes... and ram horns probably as well. This would make the challenge a lot harder and I am not sure if I would want to stick to it too stricktly (it is probably just an excuse for me to banish all those bird Nichelings because I don't like the look of them) but what genes do you think should not be part of a warrior clan? I propose cats with beak, platybus bill, wings, webbed paws and fishing tail(this one is optional) should be banished, if I think about it maybe even cracker jaw and horns as well with spiky body but I love my spiky body >.< ^^ What do you guys think?2 points

This was around the time I began experimenting with fiction that was a little more serious, a little more searching of different kinds of settings and people. As a result, though there isn't any violence here, there is some darkness. Abuse exists in the story's setting, but is never described in the story. I wouldn't say this is a story I'm proud of; it doesn't feel to me like it had 'magic'. But it is a small landmark in my writing, so I like to remember it now and again. This was in response to the prompt: "You are an assassin. A little girl has just come up to you, handed you all her pocket money and asked you to kill her abusive relative." Ripped Off “Kid . . . how did you find me?” She looked up at me, eyes wide and intent, never once lowering the fistful of bills. She wore a blue dress and sandals with Miss Piggy printed on them. A seashell hung on a thong around her neck. She had a black eye, and bruises on her neck and arms. On one shoulder I could read the shape of a belt buckle in the bruising. She couldn’t have been more than twelve. “My dad has a book of names. Your name was circled AND underlined under ‘cleaner.’ ” “You didn’t locate me with just a name.” “Welllll . . . there was another name that said ‘finder.’ She was good at finding you.” I put a hand over my face. Marigold would take an assignment from anybody. This kid would be dog meat when her dad got the bill. “And how do you know I don’t wash windows?” “That book doesn’t have regular people in it. And the people who clean evidence are under ‘sanitizer.’ ” My eyes narrowed. This kid’s father was nobody respectable, that much was obvious. Her description of this book made that apparent, as did her black eye and bruised arms. I brushed blonde locks behind her ear to see her more clearly. “Did he do this to you?” “It used to be mommy he hit. But a couple years ago he hit her too much. She tried to take me away after she got out of the hospital, but the judge said she’s too drunk to raise me.” I saw the tension knot around her jaw. She was angry, this one. “She wouldn’t be drinking if she wasn’t hit all the time. She wouldn’t have been in the accident.” My heart sank. The threads were coming together and weaving an ugly picture. I already knew I was going to take this job. Her fistful of money – maybe two hundred bucks at the outside – had dropped a little as bad memories furrowed her brow. But she was resolute, and she looked back up, shoving the bills in my face again. “I’ve saved this since I was little! All my birthday cards, ever!” I kneeled down to look her in the eyes. “Look, pumpkin. I don’t want your money. It doesn’t spend with me.” She shouted at me in her dismay. “But I need you to–!” I grabbed the collar of her dress, pulling her closer, my free hand covering her mouth. She stared at me with wide blue eyes, and I relaxed. She understood her mistake. When she spoke again, her voice was softer. “I need you to kill him. Without mommy around, he’s hitting me more. I’m not as big. One day I’m gonna get the kinda hurt that doesn’t go away.” “I didn’t say I wouldn’t do it.” I looked at her necklace, and almost immediately, she covered it with both hands. “That’s important to you, is it?” “Mommy gave it to me.” “Well, it’s my price. Give me the shell, and I’ll do it.” The money didn’t mean much to her, she didn’t understand it well enough. But that necklace was part of someone she loved. She lifted the string over her head, and she held the shell out for me in trembling hands. “This is what killing is, kid. You lose something precious from the inside when you do it. You might not be shedding the blood–” I plucked the shell from her fingers. “–but you’ve killed today, and this is what it feels like. Now, are you going to be safe if you go home for a couple days?” “I think so.” Her eyes were still locked on the seashell. I pulled the thong up over my head, letting it settle over my chest. One day I would return it to her, but not until she knew the weight of a human life. “Go home. Keep your head down. Do not defy him before it’s done. And for god’s sake, keep that money out of sight.” “Okay. Okay! Thank you mister Black!” “My name’s not really . . . you’re welcome.” I watched her run off. Then I took the shell off my neck and looked at it. Was I asking for my pay in children’s trinkets, now? It was no trinket to her, though. I dug into by briefcase, found a spare shirt, and carefully wrapped the shell. She would never forgive me if I broke it. I didn’t know why I was helping her, but almost from the beginning, I knew that I would. I also knew that she was going to be alone, soon. If she didn’t want to become a monster, she’d need help finding her way out of the darkness. And it would have to be someone who knew the darkness. Just what was I getting myself into?2 points

Probably: -- white fur (I am one of the palest people you might ever meet... which is hilarous, because my mother is quite dark.) -- at least one black pattern/horn gene. (+ one red ) -- Big Body (tall) -- I suck at running, but make up for it in endurance, have a mild fine motor disability and can't control my strenght at times... bearyena+ runner leg? -- Stripes. Somehow unsually good at hiding. -- Big ears. Though my ears are small, I hear too much for comfort. -- fully infertile. (Asexual here) -- fluffy tail. The cold feels amazing. No idea on the head. I supposedly have unusually strong teeth. And a death stare. Bearyena snout? Poison fangs?2 points

My Priorities: 0.) Listen to what the players want most 1.) Better replayability, due to a progression system, item unlocks, different game modes with harder difficulty or user generated content. 2.) More challenges and worlds where you need to use your skills as drone engineer in many different ways. (Asteroid minefields, Bossfights, drone vs. drone battles, abandoned space stations, labyrinths for autonomous drone exploration, etc...) 3.) Better usability for the drone workshop, better tools and better customization options for the different drone parts, especially sensors.2 points

I think almost all points are on our internal roadmap as well 1. We haven't announced or finally decided on what we're working next, but it's on our roadmap to improve, maybe even revamp the single-player experience completely (aka campaign). So while I can't say what it will be, this is definitely something we will work in in the future. 2. I think you mean that you can adjust many many different details for every drone-part? I'm not sure if that is technically feasible with the system we have now, and maybe it makes compatibility with old drones tricky (workshop). Maybe it's something which would be possible with modding, but there are no plans yet for that. 3. More sensors, better settings, more logic... that's something we would like to improve as well Personally I think that we have to fix the 1st issue first and then improve the other aspects, but there's nothing decided or announced yet depending next updates. I hope I got that correct ^^2 points

I'm going to start with my least embarrassing sandbox tribe (even though it's still pretty embarrassing!). They are getting ready for a jungle gate adventure Just look at those foreboding bones...doesn't help that there are only 5 port tiles. >:c And here's this wayward, outcast pair that idk why they are still in my tribe. oH a cHiLd o_O Wanderers Everywhere! (I released so many tribe members ;-;) Yeah, you dirty Rogue. Go drown yourself!! *hello darkness my old friendddddd....* QmQ Oh look, who's that? OH HE HAS A SCORPION TAIL YESS AND HIS FERTILITY DOESN"T SUCKKK!!!! Plz get in my life Mr. Dapper (It is a tradition to name all C Pattern Mask Derpsnout Males "Dapper." Doesn't he look like a narcissist tho?) I decided to release my little outcast fam. Here they are, communing with a sickly one-winged child that I bred and then released. Just Look at him tho. He is thanking StarClan that he's no longer a part of my stupid and pathetic tribe Oh look a son!!! With BEAK!!! And STINKY TAIL YUSSSS crap. he's blind. WHy That's it 4 now2 points

I think this would be as simple as adding a few settings for it. I'd suggest a set of: General movement (current behavior) Along the sensor's long axis One direction along the sensor's long axis. (Add a helpful arrow)2 points

So buying through Humblebundle invalidates part of the review...? I already despise Steam, so I am unsure if I can loathe them to any higher degree. I believe not. Edit: I hope I did not make it sound like we are too much of a sect... « Did » because this review is final and set in stone until Steam is brought down by anarchists. Which might happen soon if all goes well.2 points

Ever wanted to start a certain challenge, but couldn't find the map for it? Maybe just play on your favourite island, but after restarting the game 5 times, the set up was still awful? That's something we may be able to solve together. Introducing: an easier swamp island. (moderate bugs) -- central camp -- a tribe with all genes unlocked. However, they aren't adapted to the enviroment. Their main purpose was to create a traveler to the next island. Swampy reeds is there for more challenge, but also a whale island port. -- closed front. lean bodied creatures can jump out of the camp, but nothing can jump in. C) half- open back. Waterfall by the middle. Bearyenas/rogue males like to spawn on red spots. The one in lighter red is the first to spawn there, cyan is for wanderers. I am not sure if spawning patterns really exist, but, if they do... savefile: Slot4.nichesave Disclaimer: This is listed as a slot 4 niche save, but appears in-game in slot 5.1 point

Ignore the dev roadmap for a minute. If your three are on the roadmap, just reiterate how important it is. What three things do you think are fundamentally necessary for the final game to be a success story? Don't get caught up in the detail - don't tell me we need a rangefinder, tell me that drone sensors need to provide more awareness. Elaborate on that if you like, but let's try and keep our 'big three' conceptual. I'll start. 1. Progression mechanics. I think a reward for progress is necessary. I think it's necessary not to be able to build 500- part megadrones on day 1, but to earn and be rewarded by that kind of freedom. Not a grindfest, mind, but not just given for free - there's no reward there. Those limits will also increase the engineering people do - with progression limits, people will have to custom - build to specific missions more, and build JOAT drones less. And engineering is one place where this game shines, so requiring more engineering and more drone types will be good. 2. Every block in the workshop. This is a big ask, and a big project. But I think it will pay off in a big way. We all like monkeying around in the weapon workshop. Imagine fine - tuning your thrusters, and them your fuel tanks to support them, or tuning your tnt to a small -range firebomb, or upgrading decouplers to destroy themselves, and force parts away from each other as they decouple. I think this has huge potential to add fun and depth to the game. 3. Environmental and self awareness. I think that sensors need to be more capable. Logic is quite versatile, but right now it doesn't have the criteria to apply itself to. Rangefinders, adding an arc to the detection sensor, multiple configurable ranges for sensors as the devs have floated, more sensor criteria, trackers, etc will all provide the operators that a logic system needs to act upon. This isn't just for autonomy, either. Legs, formation flyers, missiles, interchangeable weapon pods, lots of controlled and active ships need logic, and by extension the criteria for that logic to act upon, to work well.1 point

hEYA my royal FRANCE BADGERS (I will never do that again.) So, I finally decided to get up off my lazy arse and start the competition! I'm only, like, two weeks late! Ok. Let's start. Volume One- Adam All seemed to be normal in Adam's unrealistically huge family. The women were picking berries, the men were hunting, and the children were playing with each other in the amber clearing. Like I said, everything seemed to be normal. But not for Adam himself and one of his many sisters. She had spotted a stagmole, but it went back into its little burrow before she could catch it. So, she invited Adam to get it for her. Then, a shadow fell over Adam. He had little time to think before the blue bird's claws dug into his skin and took him away! Adam tried to fight back, but alas, the bird was strong. But during a thunderstorm, he saw his chance. As he heard lightning, he caught the bird off guard and clawed at him! The bird let him go, and Adam fell to what seemed like his fate. The next day, he woke up to a place that didn't look like home. It wasn't a dream, he thought. The bird actually got me. And thus, Adam's journey begins! (You better like that quality picture, because it's the only one that'll be in the highest possible resolution.) After Adam came to his senses, he quickly scurried to the ends of the island once he realized nobody else was there. To his surprise, there was a flower port leading to another island. He's seen one of these before back at his home, but he wasn't allowed to use it. Adam traveled along the path before him to an even smaller island. He thought that he was going to die alone before he could reach his home, and then-- HOLY MOTHER OF MARBLED POLE CATS. IS THAT EVE?! Adam was startled at first. Her strange arm that looked like a bird's wing, her crimson-red splotches, and her unique green eyes made him uneasy. She told Adam that her name was Eve, and they soon fell in love with each other. They had a child, and Eve decided to name him "Barry B Benson", because screw life. Adam and Eve agreed to have just one more child, but then things got out of hand when nature flipped off Adam and Eve and said "Two is better than one!" Eve couldn't sustain having three children. In an act of betrayal towards her pink-furred son, she abandoned him there to die. Her family soon left for the next island. Her other twin son, Tanukir, didn't seem to be hurt by this. He was more interested in the sight of his strange wing. "Such a weird thing", he kept telling himself. "I'm half-bird!" His older brother, Barry, was bothered by this. They shared the same job, and Barry was mad that all Tanukir did was look at his reflection in the ocean. So he came up to him one day and said, "Your vanity is bigger than the moon, brother! Help me collect berries!" Strangely enough, he did. Adam and the gang soon left for the next island (along with their new daughter, whom I named Nil,) and was in for a surprise when they got there. It was a vast island with many biomes and places to discover... TBA!1 point

Okay I'm going to introduce you to a new challenge I made up (I think) It's called: The Wanderer Challenge! Basically you can only have ONE adult Nicheling in the tribe (With some rare exceptions and if I you're desperate. Yeah I'm a rule breaker), preferably Female. The female is only allowed to breed with other wanderers WITHOUT inviting them into the tribe (again, exceptions because I hate strict rules. You can be strict tho to make it more exciting) You must pick a single female from the wanderer's children to become the next Heiress that you will be playing. Once the Heiress is fully grown, the mother must be released. All children who are not Heiresses must also be released ASAP. I allow mutation menus, but to make it even harder, you can have mutations be illegal. Also you can do it on any island, but I did mine on peaceful meadow because I didn't know how this challenge would work and wanted to make it simple as possible. So basically, try to survive playing a wanderer for as long as possible. Unfortunately I started it a bit too early to post it here from the start so I'll just show where I am now. Here's where I started pic-taking. This stinky and fluffy girl caught sickness from her mother and didn't live as long. But I still loaf (ha! LOAF! bread? get it?) her a lot. Her yellow brother was released once Stinky Yellow was grown up (I forget her actual name, unfortunately) Stinky Yellow meets her...uh IDK what relation he is to her honestly. (I don't think it's her dad. Her dad was a yellow poison fanged guy.) Stinky Yellow grew up and found a young wanderer with antlers and...frog legs apparently, since Siraana here (I'll call her Stinky Spots coz that's easier to remember) was born with the frog legs. Stinky Yellow's first 2 children were males, but she kept them long enough to fight off a mama bearyena. Unfortunately, Stinky Yellow died from the attack. Stinky Spots grew up and bred with her compatible-immunity brother and had Stinky Beige. Then she had a child with the friendly Bearyena, who I'll call Baby Bear. I don't know who should carry on the line now! Baby Bear has better strength and fertility (but still quite low), and both of them have normal hindlegs and 2 fertility in the mutation menu. But Stinky Beige is just sooo cute and fluffy....but I think I'll still go with Baby Bear. She has more potential I feel like. (also sorry I didn't take pics in this 20+ day time span; I was too distracted by all the mayhem.) Stinky Beige and her promising little half-sister, Baby Bear.1 point

I actually think that nichelings, while they may look like dogs or cats, are actually descendants of an entirely different group: The viverrids. These carnivorians share multiple similarities with the nichelings, and they are related to hyenas, like the bearyena, which is the closest relative of the nichelings. Nichelings also cant breed with ramfoxes, which are canines, so this makes sense. My theory is that after a mass extinction, many ecologigal niches were emptied, so viverrids were able to come down from the trees and diversify in many, many ways, giving rise to the nichelings. I also think that nichelings may be related to mustelids, because they also share similarities.1 point

Maybe each upgrade could have a “mod slot”. Basically, all upgrades would be slightly nerfed from what they are at now, except there would be “upgrade mods” as well, so that overall the weapons could be equally as powerful and far more customizable. Each upgrade could have 1 mod attached. There would be some basic mods such as “plus 10% effect” and “minus 10% effect” (also available in 5% variants, which are purchased first), and there would be some more specific mods such as the laser spread one. (The plus/minus effect mods would amplify whatever effect the upgrade that the mod is attached to changes) I’m not sure how the mods would work with things that only work in multiples of 100%, such as bullet count. They would probably be incompatible with them, or maybe they are just rounded up, but that would make a +100% upgrade with a +5% mod be equal to a +200% upgrade, which would be broken.1 point

Not sure about the HUD; configuring location, configuration, it's all a lot more intelligent stuff than the logic blocks generally provide. The Camera HUD I would prefer to be a modification of the camera block itself - an 'in window' option, with a square guide (With a specific point used as a mouse handle) that you can drag-and-drop to position while the camera is active. I can post this later, but it'll be after work.1 point
-
I'm trying to get a straight answer on why wireless is preferable. The two schemes are equal in most regards, in my opinion -- except that non wireless logic enables connection status to be used in logic. Self - awareness is one of the biggest requirements for intelligent drone behavior. With these schemes mostly being equal, the increased self awareness is a very big point, in my opinion.1 point
-
I would love to (And I know, i know, I've said it before) be able to 'pair' directional blocks somehow so that they always pointed to each other. I have this dream of creating a drone fleet that operates like a bunch of gradius options, following me around in formation and firing at things with me. But to do that they need to know the direction to a specific drone or part, and the distance to a specific drone or part. being able to point directional sensors to each other, or to a selected 'part' is halfway done.1 point
-
The behavior of springs; two paired blocks maintaining a certain distance with a stiffness to the connection that can be configured - is a good starting point to this. Make the distance between the two blocks a variable controlled by inputs.1 point
