  1. Title says it all. Actually, I'll start! "I used the console to change the age of my starter female (increaseage -6), exited the game, came back, and impregnated her. I uploaded the screenshot of that to Steam just to see the reactions of other people xD" Your turn!

  4. What are your best stategies for collecting food effectively (in a way that leads to hoarding instead of just hanging on from starvation) on harder islands, like Oasis, Long Winter, Sleepy Reeds, Deep Jungle & the others, if staying there for travel preparation or for good? Mine works quite well for Sleepy Reeds while I'm staying with my first Niche tribe until they are ready to cross to what I believe will be jungle gate - Still, while I crossed Overgrown jungle to get here I only went through my foodstores, without contributing much, if I was to cross into deep jungle next, things might get tough if I don't have reserves. First, I divided my tribe in two by genotype: Beak seems perfect for travelling kind of tribes, since it can both dig and collect, even if not as effectively, and it is clear from the lean body and big ears that obviously, they came to the current island through a streak of hot climate islands. But I love the mobility and look of those genotypes, so they stay until I'll be forced to shove them into cold climate on my way to home island. I always keep more of winged type, now that I'm in the swamp - due to their ability to sit on trees - and the hammer tail is most important for this branch, as they cannot have nimble fingers - so it helps them with cracking. Now the key is to have them, aside of the breeding pair, tucked on every palm tree and sometimes swamp trees when it's raining. (Also, are the twin-birth rates genetic in Niche? I swear those two nests of twins were filled one after the other! The mother and the father also were from twin births!) Then each turn, they can crack coconuts from right under those palms, or shake them if needed. that gives 4 to 6 food a day from each palm sitter. if it rains, any creatures that out-number the palms in the area go to collect snails from swamp trees. Meanwhile the bearyena clawed creatures explore, kill rogues, destroy toxic berry bushes they find, even fish if it is convenient. - so they too provide, though not always they succed at being as effective gatherers - they are more of a guard of the tribe. In the end my tribe ended up with ridiculously much food. Please also share your strategies if you have some extremely effecient ones!

  5. This playthrough doesn't really have any rules besides that children are only born during the rain. The playthrough is focused on the immortal nicheling Minerva. She is a goddess and therefor unable to die, with perfect and beautiful genetics. (created with console commands of course) All other nichelings will be mortal, and she will travel the world alone until she finds other wanderers. Time takes place in the form of "moons" since days pass so quick but a year would be too long, a moon will be considered a week, but not an in game week of seven days, more a feeling of a week passing for the creatures. But when the counter hits 1000 days, that will count as Minerva's 1000 moons. Her story begins in the heavens. She is Minerva, Daughter of Metis. Metis is the goddess of wisdom and expects her daughter to reflect her traits. When Minerva grows up to become selfish and greedy. As she leans more to becoming a Goddess of warfare instead of a Goddess of wisdom and medicine. Minerva believes only in power and overthrowing the heavens. Her mother refuses to stand for such a thing and casts her to earth for the next thousand moons. Minerva wakes in the morning on solid ground for the first time in her life, though she is not scared. She begins to wander, and for the first thirty days, she is alone. Though she does not age, she is now susceptible to the dangers of earth. She must gather food to survive on, seek shelter where she can, avoid predators that may injure her beyond repair. After thirty days she begins to break down, never has she been alone for so long, how can she possibly survive like this? As if in answer to her woes, in the pouring rain the brush begins to shake, a creature emerges from the grasses. He introduces himself to her, his name is Tanu. He tells her that he felt like the pull of the rain was drawing him to her. Obviously having never seen a goddess before, he was bewitched by her appearance. The two fall in love and by the next rain she gives birth to a child. They name him Fleck. Minerva looks over her tiny child and for the first time since she has been cast to this island she is afraid. No half blood child can hold the powers of immortality. She realizes not only will she outlive her first child, she will outlive every child she births, and every creature she comes across on this earth. Time passes and Minerva teaches Tanu and Fleck about the lives of the Gods, and the rules that are rewarded by the Heavens. Her father is Jupiter, God of Storms, who rewards those who have children in the rain with good fortune and healthy kits. "He is what led you here, that day in the rain" She tells Tanu. "I thought I may never find anyone, that my punishment would be lived miserable and alone. But he answered my cries, and he answered them with you." The next rain comes soon after, and Minerva has another child. A daughter, Chia. With the pelt of her father and the spots of her mother, Chia is noticed by the gods as a true symbol of Minerva's growth, and the rain continues for another day, blessing them with extra food. As the children grow up, each creature falls into a set pattern through the day. Minerva is the hunter, due to her stunning speed, sharp horns, and poisonous fangs she can quickly take down any rabbit or mole. Chia follows behind her and gathers the meat to bring back to Tanu and Fleck, who gather berries and crack open nuts below the Great Oak Tree. Minerva is truly beginning to understand what home is, and her urge to provide food for her family is teaching her the value of life. Time passes and Tanu begins to grow older and weaker. He can barely manage to crack open a nut, simply collecting them and handing them to Fleck to open. Minerva doesn't know how to handle such a thing, no one in the Heavens gets weaker unless they are poisoned. No one in the Heavens ages. and no one, no. one. Dies of old age. Minerva can't handle seeing this mortal creature she has grown to love pass away. She takes off to the far ends of the territory. Killing mole after mole, giving the meat to Chia to take home. "Father passed this morning." Chia says to her, looking her right in the eyes. "He asked for you every day and yet you never came. Fleck grows older now, will you abandon him as well?" Minerva can hardly face her daughter. "I have not lived as long as many of the Gods, and I have never seen death. How am I supposed to learn to face it now, when it is someone I love? The Heavens of the Gods are different than the ones of the Souls, but I know he is there now, healthy and young again. In a thousand moons I will see him again, just as he was. Is that so wrong?" Chia tilts her head to her mother, in a soft voice retorts "you are a coward." and walks away. Within the next few moons, Fleck grows older, his mother never coming back from the far ends of the territory. Chia has been gone for days now, refusing to leave her brothers side. Minerva becomes racked with guilt and builds up the courage to see her son. When she returns, she finds she is too late. Chia greets her with nothing but sad eyes. Minerva sees the gray starting to spread across her daughters muzzle, and the fog starting to grow in her eyes. "I will not leave you" She whispers. With another moon come and gone, Chia reaches her final night. She lays next to her mother, Minerva's Peacock tail covering her from the rain. "Mother" Chia whispers "Promise me you will move on from here, find a new family, build a new life. Do it better. Don't abandon them." A tear falls from Minerva's violet eyes. "My child, I promise you I will never leave one of my own behind again. Those who die will die right by my side. I will comfort them on their walk to the Heavens." Chia sighs in content, letting go of her final breath in peace. Minerva mourns for three full moons beneath the Oak Tree. A rain storm comes and she feels the push from her father, Jupiter, to move on. She listens, traveling though unexplored grasses for many days. One day she stumbles upon a creature in the brush. She first notices the yellow coat, and then the big fluffy fur. Instantly she is reminded of Tanu. The nicheling lifts its head as she approaches. With a snout very different than that of Tanu, and eyes black and night, Minerva finds herself back in reality, realizing this obviously is not her former mate. He excitedly greets her, introducing himself as Wasp, she greets him back. "My, you sure have a unique look going for you there" Minerva lifts her head in shock, never before has she been teased in such a way "I am a Goddess. My pelt is speckled with the stars. My eyes are filled with the universe. Who are you to poke fun, you are named after an insect." He laughs, his eyes bright. "You must either be the most narcissistic creature I've ever met, or absolutely insane." A moon passes and the two fall in love. A different love than the one she experienced with Tanu. Tanu treated her like royalty. He knew she was a Goddess and he treated her as such. With Wasp, things are calmer, mostly due to the fact that he has not for a single second believed she is truly a Goddess. He is playful and kind, and when he tells her he wishes to have children she tells him they can't until it rains. "What? Why would you wait for rain?? Food is plentiful now, the soil is dry and so is the material to make a nest. Rain would soak the ground, wet the leaves and the branches. That's no weather to bring a kit into" Minerva shakes her head. "My father is the God of Storms. Any child born under the rains is guaranteed health and safety. I refuse to have a kit otherwise." Though Wasp thinks these a the ramblings of a crazy nicheling, they do wait until the rain, and with it comes their first child, Honey. "See? A picture of perfect health. Within the next few days the berries will be plentiful, the rabbits will come out to eat, the moles will search for worms, and we shall never go a hungry day." Wasp looks over is mate, who has not aged a day since they first met, and gently whispers "I suppose". They spend the next few days cleaning away the grass and brush. Minerva tries to teach Honey to hunt, but with each bunny he pounces on he simply lets go. Wasp suggests he instead learn to carefully gather the berries off the bushes, which he is able to do at ease. As the land begins to dry Minerva can sense the oncoming rain, she falls pregnant and begins to prepare the nest. On the day of the rain Minerva gives birth to twin girls. Poka and Dotte. They are the first creatures besides her mother that she has ever seen with the poison fangs. Poka's fur is a sleek brown, while Dotte's is similar to her mothers as she is coated in many spots. "They are absolutely beautiful" Wasp mutters in absolute awe of the children. "Yes" Minerva whispers back. "They are the children of the stars." The kits grow enough to go on their first hunt. Minerva believes they have the mark of the Hunters with their ram horns and poison fangs. Once they learn how to become stealthy, no creature will be able to sneak past them. After watching their mother pounce an unsuspecting mole, the two gather around the burrow. "When will it come out again?" Dotte whispers to her sister. "Hush! It'll never come out if you keep talking!" Poka hisses back. Minerva walks up behind the two, purring lightly. "It will never come out if you continue to sit directly in front of it's burrow." The two pull back, anxiously awaiting the next mole in the colony to pop up. The children catch a mole together the next day, and continue to catch more and more until eventually they grow large enough to catch one without each other's help. The territory continues to expand. Honey sits between two berry bushes, watching as they become ripe enough to pick. Poka and Dotte travel along the border, picking off rabbits and moles that catch their eyes. Wasp begins to grow older. On his final day he sits surrounded by his mate and his children. "You really meant what you said to me that day, that you are a Goddess." Minerva nods to him. "I never even thought to believe you until the day the twins were born. I had begun to grow gray in the muzzle and weak in the bones but you looked exactly the same. With each day I allowed myself to believe it more, and now that I lay here on my final night, I know it is true. Please, tell me about the Heavens. Tell me about why you are here." Her children stare at her in utter disbelief, but trusting both their parents, they listen to Minerva eagerly as she tells them her tale. "I was a very different creature then, so very many moons ago. I was one of the youngest Goddesses, but the child of two of the most powerful. I thought I could rule, that power was to be taken not earned. I believed that no mortal lives mattered and I prepared to rain Hell on the Earth to claim it as my own. So my mother, The Goddess of Wisdom, banished me from the Heavens for one thousand moons, of which I have only completed a small percentage of. When I arrived I was cold and bitter. Unwilling to accept it was I who had to change. I spent many days alone, I grew so lonely that I thought I may just lay down and let myself pass to the Heaven of Souls. But that night my father, Jupiter, brought me rain. And with it he brought me a family. I had two other children. I learned the importance of mortal life. I learned the importance of moral death. My first daughter, she made me promise I would move on, I would make a new family and not make the same mistakes as before. I am going to keep that promise. I swear that to you. And I swear once my thousand moons have passed, I will return to visit my family in the Heaven of Souls." They all looked at her in awe. that night Wasp passed, and the children with newfound knowledge were able to grieve but understand that they would be reunited someday. They all continued to hunt and collect. Making the best of their home. One day two Nichelings wander from the brush. The four look at them in absolute shock as the larger one has a large wing protruding from one side of his body. They introduce themselves as Kite and Claw, two friends who have been wandering this island together since they were kits. This is the first time Minerva has met a group of wanderers. She is unsure if they should join them. Before she can turn them away Dotte and Poka yell out at the same time "welcome!" Minerva looks at her children's bright faces and decides that though they are not her family, they can stay. A moon passes and the rain comes again. Dotte has fallen for Claw and Poka has fallen for Kite, and both have fallen pregnant. The day of the rain two kits are born. First comes Dotte's kit, who Minerva sees and instantly begins to weep. Her daughters try to comfort her, confused as to what has upset their mother so. "She looks so much like my first child, Like Chia." Dotte looks at her child and then back to her mother. "Then we will call her CeeCee, in memory of Chia." Within the next few hours Poka's kit is born. All look to him and gasp in amazement. His fur is feathered and white as snow. A beautiful white crown of horns sits atop his head. Two large wings stick out from both sides of his body. Kite whispers, almost to himself, "How...how can he have two wings?" Minerva looks to him. "He is a gift. Jupiter, the God of Storms and the Sky, has gifted the child with the ability to fly like a bird." To be continued (very soon)

BEST TRAITS: (Intelligence: 4) (Perception: 5) (Fighting: 4) WORST TRAITS: (Willpower: 1) (Hunting: 2) (Following: 1) Monkeyplume is smart and perceptive, and not a bad fighter. However, she is rebellious and lazy. Meanwhile, a young apprentice male joins Blue Tribe. He's called Slashfox. BEST TRAITS: (Intelligence: 5) (Hunting: 4) (Fighting: 4) (Spirituality: 4) WORST TRAITS: (Wisdom: 1) (Charisma: 2) (Willpower: 2) (Leading: 1) Slashfox is intelligent and skilled physically, a perfect candidate for the Blue Tribe. However, he can be a bit lazy. Redsnake suggests to Oddgloom that he have a kit with Monkeyplume, that it may help him with his grief. Oddgloom declines before he, too, dies. Slashfox and Puddledoe have a kit before Puddledoe dies of old age. The kit is named Mistlejump. BEST TRAITS: (Charisma: 5) (Willpower: 5) (Fighting: 4) WORST TRAITS: (Intelligence: 0) (Perception: 2) (Spirituality: 1) Mistlejump is a hotblooded tom with a skill for fighting. However, he is impulsive. It is time for the next gathering. "Flipgloom, you are as handsome as ever," says Bluemoss with a smile. Flipgloom blinks gratefully. Bluemoss introduces Foxslash and Mistlejump to the Red Tribe. "It is time for the clans to move," insists Redsnake. "The lands are too small here, let alone for all of us. We should go." "Which direction?" Asks Bluemoss. "I have observed possible exit spots on the east and west," says Shrewclouds. "Alright then. I say we go West," insists Bluemoss. "East," says Redsnake. They go about arguing their reasons for a bit. It is tense between the two clans. Apparently, whichever direction they move is important, and both tribes think Starclan is telling them to go their way. Finally, Flipgloom speaks up. "I think we should go West," he says. Growling, Redsnake reluctantly agrees. The clan will move West.

  14. I definitely have an affinity for hyenas. They get a bad rap for being scavengers, etc. But I love them a whole lot and they are actually rather playful. Here’s a picture of me with one from this summer! I actually got him to come up to the fence!

  15. This is one of those rare ones I was really happy with. It just worked. Period. I liked the intensity it picked up, I thought that I was able to convey disorientation and panic without resorting to cheap tricks. This one made me happy. In response to the prompt: "In the future, to pass college you no longer must pass written finals. Instead, you are simply dropped into a real-life scenario related to your major, and left to fend for yourself with your new found knowledge." Trial By Engine Failure I wasn’t worried. I wasn’t studying to be a doctor, after all. I didn’t get a degree in Emergency Management. I was an engineer. How bad could this be? I stepped up to the chair, and seated myself, as the doctor droned on. “As part of your graduation exam, you will be placed in a real-life scenario requiring the use of your skills. To do this, you will be transited to an alternate universe briefly. Be advised that there will be consequences to your activities there. Your placement will branch into a new parallel universe, and the people there will go forward dealing with the consequences of your performance. Do you understand?” The doctor paused for a precise moment, then began speaking again. He’d given this speech a lot, it seemed. “While there, you may be exposed to stressful events. Be advised that any extremes of stress that may threaten your health will return you from your presence there, and a re-examination will be required. You will not . . . .” He droned on, and on. I had stopped listening at this point, waiting for it to be over so I could build a clock or repair a generator, or maybe design some primitive waterwheel. The doctor cleared his throat. I looked up, embarrassed. “I’m sorry. Could you repeat the last sentence?” “Do you agree to the terms and conditions as detailed?” His eyes fixed on me, disapproving. He knew I hadn’t listened to a word. “I do.” Then an impact made my head ring like a bell. Gunfire was all around me, and I hit the ground. I touched my head – my helmet – and took it off. Blessedly cool air touched my scalp, and I realized that under the helmet and body armor I was sweltering. There was a groove carved into the helmet, and at the end of that groove, a hole in the metal. A burning pain swelled over my right ear, and wetness was dripping on my shoulder. This . . . was a military helmet. With blood on it. My blood. I looked around, and soldiers were taking cover all around me in the tall grass, firing into the trees. Something whined inches from my face, and sweat-sodden fragments of my own hair fell onto my nose. Someone snatched my helmet, and slapped it down on my head – it caused a burst of pain that blurred my vision. “That helmet just saved your life, soldier! Take it off again, and I’ll kick your ass myself! Now get on the tank! If we can’t get that gun up then we are dog meat!” His voice carried such command and authority that it caught me and carried me. I didn’t even know him, but . . . he inspired me, a little. It drove home the urgency of my situation, and I scrambled up and toward the tank. As I climbed up the side of the hulking mass, my hands burning from the sun-baked metal, knowledge – the knowledge possessed by the man I was standing in for – bloomed in my mind. The model of the tank, the engine, the construction, I even thought I knew what was wrong with it. I dropped into the tank, opening the engine compartment, working quickly to confirm my thoughts. I grabbed the fire extinguisher, cutting tubing off of it to replace a burst hose – thank god for duct tape – and began disassembling my sidearm, stripping the spring that drew the hammer down; with that, I worked to fix the broken linkage. There. I tried to start the tank again, then I tried again while simultaneously kicking the engine. Suddenly the beast roared to life. I heard a cheer from outside, and someone else dropped in, frantically working levers. The whole beast rocked as the main gun fired. I was back in a chair, confused and disoriented. “You’re back at school. Are you okay? We registered a lot of stress, but not enough to pull you.” I touched my head to take off the helmet. My hand encountered hair instead of cropped fuzz, and no blood, no pain. “Where is my rifle?” The doctor raised a brow but seemed to understand at once. “Take it easy. You’re back at school, taking your exam. There’s no rifle. There’s no war, no danger. You passed.” As the cloud of another man’s knowledge dissipated, so did my fog. I looked up, my past and my soul becoming coherent once more. “I’m here. I’m back. You said I passed, right?” “You passed.” I stood up, stepping away from the chair, shivering in the cool air, after the sweltering heat. I must have been sweating here, but while I had been aware of heat, the sweat made the air conditioned room chilly. “If there’s nothing else, I’d like to leave.” The doctor nodded, and I left the examination room. A left turn out of the waiting room, another left into the hall, and straight on until I reached the doors. The summer warmth wasn’t as warm as I had been during the exam, but at least I wasn’t cold anymore. I went to lean against a wall, but first reached up for something, and found only my shirt. I realized I had been trying to tug the strap of the rifle on my shoulder, to shift its position so I could lean back. It had been a vivid trip, and the man I’d shared space with had been strong. It seemed some of his habits had rubbed off on me. I had never wanted to own a gun, but I realized I was already considering visiting a shooting range. I vividly remembered stripping a pistol to pieces to get at a spring, and thought about the construction of the weapon. The other man’s knowledge was fading, but I remembered what I saw, and my engineer’s mind questioned the design, the inefficiencies. I saw ways to strengthen, thus lighten the barrel. They said that people sometimes found their calling in the exam; I thought such an idea was silly. You are who you are. But perhaps, by mere chance, it had helped me stumble upon something I’d enjoy. “Nathan Young, Gunsmith.” Then I blushed, as somebody passing into the school glanced at me, catching me talking to myself. I thought about how the words sounded, though, and imagined myself with a workshop and a range. I think I liked the idea.

  16. I get where you are coming from but I don't think it is a necessary argument against implementing it especially as many people are roleplaying Niche and or are breeding for cosmetics and not survival( anymore). Also if we are considering that we are getting a sandbox/ creative mode cosmetics are just the thing for it

  20. The child, named HawkEye, begins to grow. And with his growth comes his first flight. He stretches his wings and give them a couple of test flaps. He looks to Minerva. "Good. Now go try to fly over to Honey." Hawkeye hops up on top of the bunny hill and then leaps off, pumping his wings and catching about two feet of air before crashing down in front of his uncle. "Very nice. Maybe tomorrow Minerva can teach you how to land before teaching you how to fly." Minerva rolls her eyes at her son. "It's not like this is something any of know how to do. I really am trying my best. Goddess of Wisdom and all that." The next few days are spent teaching Hawkeye how to fly. One day Minerva sits atop the bunny burrow. She catches a scent in the air she does not recognize. Something is very, very wrong. Before she has a chance to react, a massive bearyena emerges from the grasses and bites her on the shoulder. Screaming out, Claw and Dotte come running to her side, attacking the creature. Dotte's powerful poison fangs quickly render the beast still, and the two are able to finish it off and tend to Minerva's wounds. She looks at her children in horror. "I thought I was going to die" Dotte notices a shift in the brush behind the creature, though when she goes to check there is nothing there but a line of bear prints. She notices that there are actually two sets, and one leads away from the camp. Later on Minerva walks by the waters edge, still traumatized by how close she came to dying. If not for her family, she would have never been able to take on this creature alone. If it had found her in those first four moons on the island when she was all alone, she never would have had the strength to take it down. While lost in her thoughts she hears an annoyed groan come the water. She looks up to see a nicheling in the water, slapping her paws against the water. "What....are you doing?" The creature takes no time to look back at her, simply continues to slap her paw against the water. "I'm fishing. Duh." Minerva nods lightly, looking towards the fish and then back towards the nicheling. "And, how exactly is that working out for you?" She looks back at her in utter annoyance "Not very well." After convincing the creature to come out of the water, the two have a more proper face to face chat. "I'm Minerva. I am.....I...I'm the mother of the clan that lives here." She states, deciding that stating her Goddess status might not have been the best introduction. "I'm Rey." Minerva smiles at her, and after some back and forth, convinces her to come back to camp with her. Over the next few moons, the two become very close friends. All is peaceful until one afternoon. Honey is picking berries by the edge of camp as he always does, when the second bear pounces from the brush, taking out the older nicheling in one easy hit. Kite, being the closest by, runs in and quickly kills the bear, though he's unable to save Honey. With this being her first child to die of causes other than old age, Minerva is in intense grief. She nests down by the berry bushes that Honey had tended to since he was a child, and rests there for days on end. With no sign in her improving anytime soon, Hawkeye, now an adult, takes over for the clan. He awakes one morning to find his chest gems have become a beautiful blue. Minerva looks at them in absolute awe. "Mine used to be that color...when I lived in the sky. The Gods have chosen you Hawkeye. When you join them, it will be as a God." Dotte and Poke grow older now. Resting together at the berry bushes by Minerva. The two are slowly surrounded by the whole clan, with the exception of Kite, who passed just two nights before. They all tell stories from childhood, from their children's childhood, for their hopes of the future. It is a happy night, marked by a sad occasion. The two have joined the Heaven of Souls by morning. And for the first time, there is a happy grief, because their loved ones were ready to go. CeeCee, who has never truly felt connected to the clan due to the fact she was born on the same day as the great Hawkeye, one day meets a wanderer in the forest, the two fall in love instantly, and run off together into the grass. It is the last CeeCee is seen, and though Claw chases after her, Minerva tells him that if she feels that is her destiny, then she must follow it. He's too old to be chasing her through the brush anyway. Claw agrees and decides to let her go, saddened he could not say goodbye to his daughter. Claw passes soon after, ready to join his mate and his best friend in the Heaven of Souls. He sits by Minerva's side his last night and tells her how thankful he is that she let them both stay. "You both made excellent mates for my daughter. And you brought two children into the clan, one who became a God, and one who is taking life into her own paws and starting a clan of her own. To have turned you away would have been the end of us." Claw smiles and the two sleep. She wakes and he is gone. Within a few days she stumbles upon a rustle in the brush, a creature's head pops through the grass. "I will admit that I am very, very lost." Minerva smiles at him. "Well, this is the home for lost nichelings. You've come to the right place." His name is Rokirta, an older tom with a very oddly pink fur. Minerva feels a slight attraction to him but he seems to be taking more notice to the nicheling perched atop the tree. "does he...how...does he have wings??" With a shake of her head, Minerva explains everything to Rokirta, in as plain terms as she can. By the next moon Rokirta and Minerva have become mates. One night she speaks to Rey. "I will admit, I was worried that you would have fallen for him" Rey gives her a sad smile in return. "Oh Minerva, it was not him that stole my heart." Minerva, confused by this but not wanting to pry, left her to sleep. Come the next rain Minerva falls pregnant with Rokirta's child, giving birth to a fire red kit. She names her Lavata, for her powerful pelt coloring. As Lavata grows up, the others in the clan grow older. First passes Rokirta, who was of old age when he arrived to begin with, then Rey, who passes curled up to her best friend, and finally Hawkeye. He comes down from his tree to sit by Minerva. "Will I join the Gods tonight?" She nods to him "Will I see my parents?" She gives him a gentle look "Eventually, but first you will have to learn many things about being a God. Don't end up like me, getting pushed back to earth." She gives him a gentle nudge. He smiles, curling his wings over himself and falling into a sleep. "Goodbye Hawkeye. I will see you soon." Minerva can feel the rain coming. As she had become pregnant before Rokirta's passing, she fixes up her nest. Lavata comes to her with one of Hawkeye's feathers she found below his tree. Minerva smiles and slips it in between two entwined twigs. That night she settles. And with the patter of rain beginning to hit her fur, her child is born. To be continued.

  24. It's kind of odd in animals. We have a cat that isn't able to use the cat flap effectively, but still understands a lot, reading people like no other. Uneven. Extremely pronounced issues in one area, doing quite well in others. Everything is 'ma' with no distinction in tone. Then there was the cat that thought standing on a tree and glaring at the birds would help. Sometimes singing. Most stop doing that, but no, not this one. Add the belief to that that everything is edible... she ate a styrofoam like substance. Twice. Didn't survive the surgery. They're unpredictable that way. To myself, at least. A human based model is think-able, g and all, while some animals seem all over the place.

  25. Redsnake and Bluemoss are on their third lives. Kitfall is settling in in red territory, taking a look around. "This is probably really awkward for you, an arranged betrothal and all," Oddgloom confesses, flattening his ears. "I'm sorry if you're uncomfortable. If there is anything I can do, let me kno-" "I don't see what's so awkward about it," Kitfall responds casually. "It's our duty, is all." Oddgloom can't help but sigh. This she-cat is completely unaware of how he feels! Even so, the two of them soon have a kit; Kitfall has Flipgloom and he is under her protection as the rains fall. "We can name him after you," Kitfall says. Oddgloom feels his face heat up. He guiltily feels a sigh of relief to see his son's pelt- he is unmistakably a Red Tribe cat. BEST TRAITS: (Perception: 4) (Leading: 4) (Spirituality: 4) WORST TRAITS: (Intelligence: 0) (Hunting: 0) (Following: 1) Flipgloom is a perceptive cat with a skill for leading and a strong belief in Starclan. He is stubborn, however, and dislikes hunting. Flipgloom is old enough to be an apprentice, so Kitfall leaves. Oddgloom's heart is heavy as he watches her go. He wants to tell her to stay, but all he can yell is, "I'll see you at the next gathering!" As Oddloom lays in his den that night, he thinks and he thinks before finally deciding. He was going to ask her to become his mate and move back to Red Tribe at the next gathering. If she says no, that'll be fine- he just knows he'll never find out if he doesn't ask. The next gathering finally comes, and Oddgloom is the first one there. He waits anxiously until Bluemoss and her clan arrives, but he doesn't see Kitfall around anywhere. "Bluemoss!" he calls, forgetting his formalities. The she-cat gives him a confused stare, but waits for him to continue. "Where's Kitfall?" Bluemoss stares into the tom, her eyes searching. She knows he loved her daughter, but why? She was from a different clan. "Kitfall is dead. Where is her son?" Puddledoe excuses her clan leader. "I think seeing him might help her loss." Flipgloom appears, his dark red pelt shimmering. Bluemoss has pride in her expression, but also disappointment. Indeed, this cat was one of the Red Tribe. He looks so much more like his father than his mother, but she still takes comfort in seeing a living piece of her daughter, even if he's in a different clan.

  27. Haha, yeah! It does probably sound pretty silly out of context. Here's how I'd compare it. Intelligence 0 is just... sort of slow, not very good at strategy, bad at logical and critical thinking. Intelligence 5 is an intellectual, an astute nicheling who can make anything come across as scientific if they want to. Wisdom 0 would be someone very immature, impulsive, unreliable, doesn't learn from mistakes Wisdom 5 would be an old soul; someone great at giving advice and knows what to do in most situations. Charisma 0 can be anything from incredibly antisocial and withdrawn to extremely hateful and mean. Charisma 5 is someone who draws others to them; a social butterfly. Willpower 0 is a lack of ambition, direction, or concern for anything. Willpower 5 is someone driven, powerful, and resilient. Perception 0 is an absolute lack of knowledge of social cues; not street smart, maybe even naive Perception 5 is someone very sly and persuasive. They can read the moods of others, which they can use for good or bad.

  28. "Did you see the leader's son?" Asks Bluemoss to her mate impatiently. "He was a great hunter... and a great fighter! ...Slowrogue, we need another kit to catch up with such progress. I love Kitfall, but we can't just entrust her to protect us from a formidable foe like he. She's a very slow runner, you know." "I suppose we can try for another kit," muses Slowrogue, flicking his tail. The third rains come, and aye, it is fitting. Parselypoison succumbs to her illness and dies. This causes Oddgloom to further retreat into his imagination, of somehow one day belonging with Blue tribe and Kitfall. Bluemoss and Slowrogue have another kit. She is a beautiful blue-black color, to the great pride of Bluemoss. She is named Shrewclouds. BEST TRAITS: (Intelligence: 4) (Hunting: 5) WORST TRAITS: (Fighting: 0) (Following: 0) Shrewclouds is an intelligent and shrewd hunter. However, she isn't a good fighter, and she knows that she is intelligent, which makes her feel "too good" to take orders. A new female joins the Blue Tribe, and her name is Puddledoe. BEST TRAITS: (Hunting: 4) (Leading: 4) WORST TRAITS: (Spirituality: 1) (Following: 0) Puddledoe tends to be a bit bossy, which makes her hard to deal with with other cats. However, she is a spectacular hunter. Slowrogue dies, leaving only females in the Blue Tribe. A rain comes- one that would signal a gathering- but the Red Tribe is busy fighting off a Bearyena. As Oddmoss begins to fear that it will hurt him or his father, out comes Kitfall, who was patrolling nearby. She finishes off the beast. To consider that Oddmoss has been in love with her since he was an apprentice, Oddmoss doesn't know what to say when she speaks to him up close. "You saved us," stammers out Oddmoss. "Simply followed the warrior code," shrugs Kitfall. At the next gathering, the clan is abuzz. Redsnake introduces a new wanderer that came to the Red Tribe. His name is Vilewind, another sickly cat. BEST TRAITS: (Wisdom: 4) (Willpower: 4) (Hunting: 4) WORST TRAITS: (Intelligence: 0) (Spirituality: 0) (Following: 1) Vilewind is hardened by his illness, making him wise and resilient. He is also a good hunter despite his condition. Even so, he is stubborn and has trouble trusting in Starclan due to his illness' severity. "Your Kitfall saved us from a bearyena attack today," Redsnake says. "It could have caused us some damage. We thank you for her help. Bluemoss blinks in acknowledgement, but cuts to the chase of something on her mind. "Redsnake, we have a problem." Bluemoss says. "Our clan has no males. Slowrogue died of old age. We have two new clan members-" she nods at Shrewclouds and Doepuddle- "But they are both females. This can cause us problems in the future. There are little to no rogues or wanderers around our territory. We need young warriors having kits. Both of us." Oddgloom, who has been sitting and chatting with Kitfall, feels his heart jump. Couples? Between the clans? No way! Was this his chance? Oddgloom sees Redsnake glance at him knowingly, pause for a heartbeat, and turn back to Bluemoss. "Would Kitfall be willing to temporarily stay in Redclan with us and get to know Oddgloom?" Oddgloom cringes with anxiety, bracing himself for rejection. "Anything for the good of the clans, I will do," Kitfall says. Bluemoss nods. "It is decided, then," says Bluemoss. "The kit that is born will be given to either Red Tribe Or Blue Tribe based on its appearance." "What if it looks like it could be either red or blue?" Interjects Shrewclouds, who has been observing up until now. "Then it will be based on gender," Bluemoss announces. "A male will go with Blue Tribe. A female will go with Red Tribe."

  29. I guess a 0 intelligence would be like.. Very little skill at making oneself seem proper, little strategy skill outside of one's own hobby, etc? I would love to see others try it! It's super fun, and I'm loving it so far, so I'd be happy to see how it goes for others, too!

  30. I will say that evolution is completely random, and is more like 'does this work' than 'this works'. There are plenty of things in real life that serve no evolutionary purpose, and plenty of things that are just there to look nice towards other members of their species.

  31. Step 1. Trap rogue male and break his spirit. Step 2, (get distracted) change all his genes multiple times and breed him with multiple females. Step 3. (Murder) bugless profit. That's not very weird, though. Changing the gender of multiple rogue males, breeding with them and trapping them on nests was vengeful, at least.

  32. I think it'd be cool if the beak allowed you to collect from the cacti, or possibly a slightly thinner vareity so you could collect from them, as Big body,Armoured body,Mammoth feet, don't look like they belong in a Savannah biome.

  37. A strategy I learned in home island is to have two adult nichelings per each stagmole hole. The first one uses it's turns like this: Move next to the hole Kill the mole Move away from the hole The second one does this: Move next to/on the hole collect the meat Move away from the hole The important thing is to have no one next to the hole over night so a new stagmole will spawn!

  42. SIXTY-FIRST RAIN Barkstripe finds and befriends a wanderer-she cat named Bristlespot. Bristlespot is very laid-back and easygoing, hoping to make all around her happy. However, she hates being a leader, and will lash out if respobnsibilities are dropped on her out of nowhere. SIXTY-SECOND RAIN Unfortunately, Barkstripe and Badgersong die, leaving Lionstar and Bristlespot. SIXTY-THIRD RAIN Bristlespot dies, and Lionstar moves onto his sixth life, once again alone. SIXTY-FOURTH RAIN Lionstar searches the land for more clan members. He finds a beautiful young she-cat by the name of Palethroat. She has a desire for peace for her clan. Palethroat then finds and invites Eaglefoot, considering him a good way to keep the clan protected and peaceful. He's actually quite clumsy and bad with kits. SIXTY-FIFTH RAIN Palethroat and Lionstar plan to have a kit, but before it is born, a bearyena attacks the clan. Eaglefoot is gravely wounded, one of his back paws getting destroyed from the knee down. He is forced into early eldership. Palethroat is patrolling when she finds an apprentice-aged she-cat with a strange-looking snout and invites her into the clan. Her name is Tinybird. She holds little warrior skill and is antisocial. SIXTY-SIXTH RAIN No kits are born. Eaglefoot dies. SIXTY-SEVENTH RAIN A new male enters the clan- Heronmuzzle, a charismatic and goodhearted tom. Lionstar is on his seventh life. SIXTY-EIGHTH RAIN Heronmuzzle and Tinybird become mates. They have a beautiful she-kit, who they name Applecore. Applecore is beautiful and loves kits, but is antisocial. The same day, a young she-cat apprentice enters the clan. Her name is Sleekfang, and she is an ambitious cat who wishes to fight off any intruders. A pure-white she-cat enters the clan. Her name is Whiteheather. She is an ambitious, skilled cat who wants to go far. SIXTY-NINTH RAIN Tinybird mates with Heronmuzzle. They have Ashmistle, an untalented but loving, quiet kit. SEVENTIETH RAIN Lionstar mates with Whiteheather and they have Pigeonpaw, a daring she-cat.

  43. FIFTY-FIRST RAIN Beequeen and Lionstar have another kit, Flutterspot. Flutterspot is a good warrior and has a close bond with her father, but is not very popular due to her odd appearance. Beequeen dies and is buried. FIFTY-SECOND RAIN Two new cats join the clan. The female is Lilyfish. She is sweet and loves the clan territory. The male is Minnowspeck, a rebellious and attractive tom who doesn't approve of Lionstar's leadership. Lionstar becomes the mate of Lilyfish. They have Eelpounce. He is talented and brave, but suffers from mental issues. The clan decides to move islands, for it is rather small. They all prepare to move at the next rain, and Lionstar moves on to his fourth life. FIFTY-THIRD RAIN The clan is settling in on the peaceful meadow. Minnowmask mates with Fluttershade, and she has Palespeck. Palespeck has his mother's strange appearance, but he wants to be a medicine cat. Here he is with the rest of the clan, now settled in. FIFTY-FOURTH RAIN No kits are born. Minnowmask and Lilyfish die and are buried. FIFTY-FIFTH RAIN No kits are born now, either. Shiveringslip, a mild-mannered cat, joins the clan.

  44. How about a giant anteater sort of snout? They're pretty cool Also maybe there could be a venomous (or something along those lines) variety of froodle that normal nichelings can't eat and you need some sort of pangolin type snout to eat them I love this idea so much (the froodles are awesome), we really need insectivorous nichelings

  45. We definitely need something to pick from the cacti so why not the beak Also you could then breed it onto your winged creatures and have them actually be able to collect stuff when there aren't any trees around.
