  2. So I know that customizing your own island has already been suggested, but if that's too difficult to implement I like the idea of being able to decide what does/doesn't show up on your island. There could be an island settings button that would increase/decrease the spawn rate of bearyenas/rabbils/moles/etc that can be decreased all the way down to 0. same with berry bushes, rocks, oak trees. I know absolutely nothing about video game design but I assume that somehow it's coded in how many of the physical items such as berry bushes spawn in on an island and how many spaces apart they are so that way an island doesn't get overwhelmed with items like that. It would be cool if there was a player option to decide how many of those items spawn on their island. This way the creators don't have to find a way to make it so players can place items specifically in one spot in the game, but rather give them the ability to decide what they want and how often they want it. this would be good for lots of challenges, like a no berry bush challenge but increasing the amount of mole burrow spawns, that way they have to make all creatures have at least 2 strength, Or good for giving the player a way to play around with the genetics without breaking their game with console commands, now they can increase the amount of berry bushes and focus on the breeding more than the food. (please let me know if this has already been suggested or if you want clarification, I didn't look through the other suggestions as I've been having lots of computer issues and im trying to type this as quickly as i can before my laptop shuts down again)

  3. Haha, I'm also a fan of the old colors ^^ I'm not even sure texture packs would work, since the game was not designed to support them. What do you think @Micha would this be possible at all?

  4. Okay. If y'all are lucky, then I might release part two over the weekend

  5. This is a neat Idea! It would make the game extra atmospheric as well, as we don't really get much besides the basic movement and broken-necked nichlings in niche.

  6. Well, how the four gems worked was your Nichelings aged up normally but overnight, you would only regain two gems instead of all of them. Of course it can be different now, but that’s just how it worked before.

  11. PLEASE DON'T TELL ME YOU KILLED HIM He's the cutest creature I've ever seen 😮 He must be sent from Dukvan, my forgotten god of water or whatever (maybe he should be the god of Gills? Or Cuteness?) but OH MY GOODNESS that creature is cute. Do you happen to have a picture of his genes?? I NEED him.

  14. Okay then, 'so'. (Yes, I would like one! I can provide a proper picture of him if you need it) Also, I made mine so it will say his name like yours (which took a while, because every time I did it, it wouldn't fit) (though i won't make it my profile picture, because the words don't fit in all the way)

  15. So I've kinda been thinking about this for a while now but what if there was like... tiny movements with your creatures when you do an action? Like not full on walking animations or digging animations or attacking animations since the models for the creatures aren't really meant to move much... but like... tiny movements? Lemme just explain So basically, say you move your mouse around really fast, the ears could wiggle a little bit. If you had big ears they would wiggle a lot, medium ears wiggle a little, and round ears wiggle barely at all. Or some snouts could do the same, like the digging trunk. If you move your mouse across the screen fast enough the trunk would wiggle. Maybe with big nose too. Maybe when you move a creature around the tail would kinda wiggle too. Also when the creatures are sitting still the tail could like, swish around or wag or something. The fur could also move around when you move a creature. I know there's suggestions similar to this one but I wanted to talk about smaller movements and not full on animations that Nichelings could have That's all for now :))

  16. This used to be in the earlier versions of Niche. Basically when your creature aged the fur would start to darken, not very noticeably at first but over time you could see a change in the fur color. Perhaps if the fur color changing isn't liked you could have an option to turn it off in settings. Also, it also doesn't have to be fur color changing, it could be like your creature slowly changes posture over time or the fur gets messy as they age. Just a little thought that popped up in my mind, thought it would be cool to see in the game again ^^

  20. The player should probably be able to see the “rabbit” so that they can better understand how the sensor works. I would like to know exactly where the sensor was pointing so that I can more easily troubleshoot sharp corners.

  21. four gems? leeches being visible on nichelings?! I want that! three moves seems too small, and besides, it's an odd number!

  22. I don't even use the console commands, but what if there was a command to move a pregnancy to another creature? For example, you could have a challenge where you need to have one female pregnant with Adam's child all the time and give birth to it on the home island XD

  23. I have some experience with all kind of different tablets and display tablets. Some thoughts: - Wacom has the best experience from all of them, period. I'm talking about stand-alone display tablets only here (not counting Apple iPad). With experience I mean pen-handling and first and foremost Drivers. - Wacom are the most expensive of them all, but a second-hand one is way cheaper and might still get a better experience than other brands. - There are display tablets which use Wacom technology (like the dell canvas or Samsung Android tablets) but they use a very old system and are not equal to the newer Wacom products. If you have the money to spare and can choose between a new (or old) Wacom device and a other-brand device which uses wacom technology, choose the Wacom one (mostly because of drivers) - I don't have experience with many other pen-types but I used AES technology pens before (those which need batteries). This technology is e.g. used in the Microsoft Surface Tablets and the Lenovo Pen-enables notebooks. They are okay to use and I know people who use them heavily and are happy with them. But compared to the Wacom products, they are inferior in pen handling and again, drivers. (imo) - I really rave about Wacom here, but this is because I really really dislike hardware and software which does not work as intended and doesn't give me a seamless experience. The main reason why I like them is because they have years of experience making drivers which work seamless with the operating system and you are free to set them up the way you want. This is something which from my experience is the biggest problem I have with the other brands. Even Microsoft, which has their Surface Tablets and Pens and can control the whole pipeline from hardware to software does not get it right. You have to setup several settings before you are able to use the pen properly for painting. As an another anecdote: A lot of people complain about Wacom and drivers not working, especially about 1 year ago in conjunction with Adobe Photoshop. The problem there was, that Windows itself changed a setting behind the scenes with an update and did not inform Wacom about it. So for a few days people went crazy that their product stopped working and had to find solutions for it. Wacom fixed it with a simple toggle in their driver, where you can turn on/off the freehand/windowsInk option (which broke everything), but nowadays when you search, you probably still find all these driver issues first before getting the right answer - On the other hand. After using display tablets for a while and normal tablets for much longer, I have to say that I'm not so sure that I prefer the display tablets to work on. I have a 27inch Dell Canvas at home (similar to Wacom Cintiq 27QHD) to work with, but for the time being I prefer a simple Intuos to work with. Especially for painting I prefer the tablets instead of the displays, because the hand is in the way. - So my advice is: What do you want to use the new device for and what to you already own? Do you want to focus on drawing instead of painting, then a display tablet might be a cool thing. Do you paint more than drawing, maybe a display tablet is not the best thing. Do you want to do it for fun and yourself or for work? If you want to draw a lot just for fun with a bit of coloring, maybe a iPad with Apple Pencil & Procreate is the best thing you can get currently (quality+convenience/price). If you want to work professionally, meaning, a lot of editing with different tools, file sharing with others, etc. then a desktop system might be more useful. If you want to get a display tablet, maybe wait and save a bit to get a second-hand or newer and smaller cintiq and use a intuos for the time being. If you get another brand display tablet, try to find someone/somewhere where you try it first. Or you buy a very very cheap one and then it won't hurt as much if it does not work the way you intended. So go for the cheapest and smallest one might be my guess in this case. This is only my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. Sorry for the long rant

  29. In the really early versions of Niche, there was once a time that you could get up to 4 gems on your creatures. Now I think I understand why this wasn't implemented on the future releases of Niche since there is only four current stages of growth for the Nichelings; newborn (zero gems), baby (one gem), teenager (two gems), and adult (three gems). Perhaps maybe there can be like... a young adult stage that gives you three gems. Then you can reach full adult and have access to four gems.

  30. Pretty self explanatory by the title. Basically in the older versions you were able to have more than one leech on your creature at a time and they were more visible. Currently, if multiple leeches attach themselves to your creature, you only get one piece of food. Sometimes I've at least 4 leeches latch on to one creature. That would equal four pieces of food, right? Nah, just one. It would be nice if they all equaled one piece of food each. Also they currently are just barely visible near the neck of your Nicheling and it would be nice to see the leech so that you could know which creature has it on them and not just rely on the notification system. Especially if you have a creature that became leeched in a group of creatures... takes quite a while to search out that lil bugger.

  32. (sorry this has taken forever to update, my computer is really struggling and shuts down every couple of minutes) Much time passes with little happenings. Belle grows older and passes away, eager to rejoin with her mate and her child in the Heaven of Souls. Silver tells the clan more of the results of the disease. "Many of us died, many of us fled, many of those who fled died. We truly have no idea who survived and who passed except for each other. Most of those who fled were mothers with their children, those who knew they had to put the lives of their children above their love for this clan. There was a beautiful nicheling named Tawny, she was pregnant. She left all of us, including her sick mate, behind in hopes that she and her child could survive. We never heard from her again. Every night I wander through the brush and I look for those who have left. I pray someday I'll find someone and bring them home." But moons pass and Silver has little luck. Her once shining pelt has begun to dull with old age. Though every night she still says goodbye to her mate and children, and disappears into the grass. One morning, she does not come home. Fish and Minerva go to look for her, and when they do they come across her body in the distance, with a yellow nicheling snuggled up to her. Minerva shouts out "Hello?" and the creature quickly awakens. She sits up and looks at them. She looks like an exact replica of Rust, just a different fur color. "Have you come to take me home?" The creature is weak and tired, Minerva and Fish hold her up on both sides to guide her back to camp. She is severely under nourished, clearly she hasn't had a decent meal in a long time. Upon entering the camp, Rust looks up and gasps. She calls out "Sun!!" and runs to the nicheling. Minerva and Fish back away, allowing the two to embrace. "I thought you were dead sister." Rust murmurs. "As did I with you" Sun whispers back. As the two catch up, Anko enters the clearing from the nesting area. He looks to them eagerly. "Where is Silver, did you find her?" Minerva and Fish lower their heads, Minerva breaks the news to him. Anko is crushed, he looks to Minerva and says "I feel that I will join her soon, I've lived life on this earth twice over now, once as Kirku, and once as myself. I am ready to join the Heavens and stay with the Heavens." Minerva nods. The day is spent with Anko saying his goodbyes to the clan, and with Sun learning of their history and rules. Come that night, Anko lies beside Minerva, digging up a nice patch of soft earth to rest upon. As the moon moves across the sky it guides him to the Heaven of Souls. Come morning he is but a shell. Minerva decides it is time for the clan to move on. Any survivors would have died of old age by now unless they were moved as young as Sun was. She decides it is time to return to her very first home. "I have not been back to this land in over two hundred moons. But I know the food is plentiful, without any creatures there everything has regrown. It is a perfect place for us to start over, there is just too much death here." The clan agrees and they depart. The journey is a long one, it will take two moons to complete. On the way there they discover a very small child picking berries off a bush. The clearing is large and empty, there is no parent in sight. Metisi approaches the child slowly, and the child looks back at her in confusion, as though she has never seen another living creature. "Hello there little one, where is your family?" The child tilts her head, clearly not understanding the words. Metisi looks back at the clan. She gathers a piece of meat, bringing it to the child. "Eat" She whispers, which the child does happily. While she stays with the child, the rest of the clan searches the area. Fish finds a pile of bones with a few scraps of tawny colored fur. He returns to the group and tells them he believes the child's parents died long ago, hence why she doesn't know how to speak. They decide to bring her with them, they name her Deliah. As they continue their journey and Deliah grows, she slowly learns to speak and understand the clan. By adulthood she is as intelligent as any other creature. Fish falls in love with her, and she with him. By the time they reach the new territory Deliah is pregnant. As is Rust, again, though she has grown old. After settling down their first night, rain comes at dawn, allowing them to set up nests and prepare for their new children. While Deliah gives birth easily, Rust proves just too old and passes after the kit is born. Deliah's child is given the name Emerald, for her bright green glowing eyes, and Rust's child is named Chip, for the chipped spots of colors he has in his fur. A small amount of time passes, and the new arrivals grow from kits to children. They slowly begin to walk and talk. Within just a few short days SnowDrops realizes his life is coming to an end. He asks Minerva to raise his child for him, and of course she accepts. SnowDrops passes in the night, curled up next to his son and Minerva. When Chip and Emerald awaken the next morning they find an exciting surprise. There are rabbits everywhere. They have emerged from their burrows and surrounded the camp, hopping carelessly and joyfully through the grasses. Minerva looks in absolute confusion, they look like small drops of snow bouncing from to and fro. She tells the clan not to harm them. Clearly this is a sign of some sorts. From here on out the clan will harm no rabbit. But what does it mean? To be continued.

  35. Well, I like a lot of other ones too, but Meringue was my first favorite, and also my second creature whoever got a screenshot of themselves (the first was Meringue's father). I only took his picture because I wanted a creature to be my profile pic for the forums Anyways, I just keep liking him more and more. i also had no idea what meringue was, but I knew it was a food, and it just so happened that he's the colors of real life meringue!
