So, supposedly, 2 bears are still missing kickstarter rewards. What do you guys think the'll be like? I'd love a water based one, or one that also goes for berries, cutting down bushes and the like.4 points

(Again sorry if you have suggested this ^^) Perhaps we could have some form of ageing to our nichelings when they become elders? I have seen some comments suggesting haveing the fur around the snout and ears lightening, or going completely white. They could also have degrading eyesight or hearing, and their gems could either darken or lighten in contrast when they age. Baby Light coloured gems and fur colour. Some patterns have not shown up yet. Teen Both gems and fur darken slightly. Patterns are very faint Adult Gems and fur reach regular colouring. Patterns have shown up completely. Elder (This would be about 2-3 days before they die.) Gems are very dark, fur lightens around snout, ears, Ect. Certain ability's are not as strong as they were. Pattern is strong, but has flecks of white through it.3 points

I kinda imagine one of the new bears to be purple, don't know why and if it was purple maybe it would live in the jungle? Or an orange-yellow oasis bear, since they fish as well3 points

MY CHILD Also, Poozie has Big nose and Antlers, plus a bit of white, and Meringue's mate was white (I think albino?) with Big Nose and antlers! (Well, I guess pretty much the whole tribe was like that...). I think her name was Snowberry 2 (well, someone was named Snowberry 2.)2 points

Don’t get your hopes up. We only saw a brief snippet of a race. We don’t know how many other modes the devs want, or how many bugs there are, or if they want to add any special fancy features to mapmaking, or if they are want to keep improving the [whatever they do to generate the courses], or pretty much anything else. We have no idea when the update will come out. Don’t make any assumptions, and even if the devs give a date, they might find something that they want to improve before then and postpone it.2 points

Muddywater leaves with Rubystar and his newfound mate at the end of the gathering. He cautiously steps onto Rubyclan territory. He's seen it from across the river a thousand times, but it feels different when you're standing right in the middle of it. Pouncespring, a naive and timid she-cat, joins Sapphireclan. Muddywater and Littlefinch soon have a kit of their own after settling down together in Rubyclan. They have Swiffttorn. He's rather serious and strange, but is very lonely on the inside. Fishstar moves to her third life, and Rubystar to his fifth. Littlefinch and Muddywater have another son, who they name Mudkestrel due to his likeness to his father. He is a hardy and obedient cat, but can be rather lonely. This bonds him closely to his brother. He has +1 Special Defense and -1 Defense.2 points

Perchmoon and Fishstar have another kit; Heavystream. He's calm, quiet and lax. Rubystar is on his fourth life, and Fishstar is on her second. She has one more kit with Perchmoon before he dies; Muddywater. He is quirky, calm, and quiet. He has +1 special attack and special defense and -1 attack and speed. Thistlecypress joins Rubyclan. She is Calm and mild, but sassy. She has +2 special defense and +1 special attack, and -1 in other categories. Thistlecypress becomes the mate of Rubystar. They have Littlefinch, a she-cat. Littlefinch is quick-witted, not to mention sassy and a spitfire. She has Special Defense +1 and Special attack -1. Stingjuniper, a jokester tom, joins Sapphireclan. The next gathering approaches. It's been moons since there was a gathering- hardship caused one to be skipped- but everyone is excited. However, Rubystar sees a familiar occurence that fills him with dread. Just across the stream, Sapphireclan is attacked while they prepare for the gathering! Unwilling to witness another tragedy befall his neighbouring clan at the claws of a predator, Rubystar takes Littlefinch with him across the river, onto Sapphire territory, to fight alongside them. The bearyena is defeated, causing little damage thanks to the help of Rubyclan. "You have saved us by coming to our aid," says Fishstar. "Please, stay the night in our territory. You are welcome to stay amongst us for the gathering." Rubystar and Littlefinch settle down amongst their neighbouring warriors. Rubystar and Fishstar come to know each other as fellow leaders, and Rubystar tells stories of when he knew Fishstar's predecessor, Cloverstar. Littlefinch, meanwhile, is becoming an object of interest to Fishstar's son, Muddywater. "So, do you have a mate?" Asks Muddywater, flicking his tail. "Nope. Just me and my dad in Rubyclan right now." This gets Muddywater thinking. He slips away from Littlefinch for a moment and approaches his mother, Fishstar. "Mom, I want to ask you something. Just don't judge me..." "If you're asking me something, I sort of have to be the judge, don't I?" "Would you give me your blessing if I were to go for that pretty Ruby she-cat? She helped us, after all, and it's only her and her father in Rubyclan. I wouldn't be far away..." "I will have to consult Rubystar." To Muddywater's horror, Fishstar blurts it out immediately, in front of everyone. "Hey, Rubystar! Is your daughter on the market for a mate?" She nods her head towards Muddywater. "Muddywater here has quite the interest in her. I'd be willing to let him move into your clan." "I don't see why not," Rubystar says. :"However, the real decision-maker in this is Littlefinch." Littlefinch gets up and stares Muddywater dead in the eye before trotting over to him. He braces himself for a claw to the face. But instead, Littlefinch sits beside him. "Why didn't you say so earlier?"2 points

Currently: Wild female Nichelings will follow your peacock males around I think there is lots of stuff we can do with this mechanic in future updates too ^^2 points

Not a particularly exciting idea, but I would love to be able to give my nichelings rosettes It would be an allele of the pattern gene. It would add to camouflage in the savannah biome. Different shapes could include rosettes with and without internal spots and elongated rosettes Pictured below, from top to bottom, is a leopard (rosettes without internal spot), a jaguar (rosettes with internal spot) and an ocelot (elongated rosettes)1 point
-
This question is basically all in the title, but for as long as I've played this game I've always wondered why our nichelings are limited to their 3 gems but a wanderer/rogue can move/gather as much as they want without running out of energy. This has never really made sense to me considering that they're the same creatures as nichelings, especially with the fact a wanderer added in is now limited to the 3 moves.1 point
-
I suspect they would be too hard to find otherwise. Mostly because they don't clear grass and spend a lot of time digging. Predators would kill them more often, too. You've probably thought of this already, the difference might just be that the devs want one to meet more wanderers under the belief that it improves gameplay. Does it? I would personally agree. Seeing that, if they don't move enough, other options would be to spawn in more wanderers or have them live longer. They're both problematic in their own right, so we're stuck with unlimited movement, which could probably be capped at 10.1 point
-
Short snout doesn't appear as often among wanderers, but you start with it unlocked, and once it's in your gene pool it spreads like wildfire. I don't really think too much should change given the above reasons. Also in anatomy not every body part technically needs a function. Some are leftover relics from previous times on the evolutionary tree. Considering how long its been in the game that could be the case here. Though if purpose is something in question here, why are we not looking into the derp snout as well? It doesn't affect anything and is purely cosmetic as far as I'm aware. Not that I want it gone either; it's charming in its own unique way. If we must adjust the stats of short snout, however then maybe make it more attractive or give it a better advantage in terms of calling out for wanderers.1 point
-
I don't know. It would seem that the short snout might be the worst at collecting without paws. Maybe you can settle for more hidden attributes, like an alluring voice when calling. Maybe even some neoteny thing, unattractive for longer to rogue males as they mature slowly and don't smell right. Just small boosts that are useful at times.1 point

I understand that. But I don't consider it about all stats combined, but for berry picking alone. Beak has +1 collecting. Beak is always going to be better than a short snout at collecting. Therefore, Short Snout gets 0 collecting.1 point

Japan if I wanna be adventurous, but the UK if I wanna be practical. I would really have to adapt to the culture in Japan, but I think I’d really enjoy it for a couple of years. The UK since I already speak English and I visited London and it was basically like I never left the US. My friend recently asked me out and neither of us have ever been in a romantic relationship. Any date ideas besides movies or dinners? (Heads up, I’m a highschool student)1 point
-
That would be quite cool but I'm not sure if it would be a bit much, the other patterns either add camouflage in one biome or don't add anything. Perhaps it could add to savannah instead so its different from the spots?1 point

Rubystar is on his second life. Cloverstar gets to her fifth. Stalkivy has a kit with Volepebble and they become mates. They have Wilowgaze. He is a quiet, nervous kit with a mild temperament. He has +2 Special attack but -2 Defense. Rubystar, meanwhile, has another kit with Cloudshine, but she dies of old age, leaving Rubystar to raise the kit. His name is Snowlizard. He is quiet when he needs to be, but he loves playing tricks and play-fighting. He has +1 Special attack but -1 Defense. Stalkivy and Volepebble have one more she-kit. her name is Lowcurl. She is quiet and lonely most times. She has +1 Special Attack and Attack but -1 Defense. It is time for the next gathering, but on the way there, Sapphire is attacked! The clan manages to fight the bearyena, but Burrowflower, Volepebble, and Lowcurl are killed in the process. Sapphire shows up to the gathering bloodied and bruised. Rubystar, moved with pity for the clan, speaks softly. "I'm very sorry for what has happened," he says. "Had I warriors to spare I would allow one to come stay on Sapphire camp." "I thank you for your kindness, Rubystar. We will get back in shape eventually, it's just been a low blow." Thankfully, a new she-cat appears on clan borders. her name is Molerose, and she joins Sapphire. She has +1 Attack and defense, but -1 Special attack and special defense. She is very forward and isn't afraid to go after what she wants. Molerose becomes the mate of Willowgaze. They have Fishfawn. She's irresponsible and quirky. She has +1 Attack and Defense, but -2 Special defense. Rubystar moves to his third life.1 point

I've been playing Niche for a long time now, and I've been looking through all the topics on the Discussion and Feedback section of the Niche forum, but today I finally decided to join. So...yeah 😅1 point

Using this Steam discussion, I will be attempting to replicate those Nichelings while doing challenges, some made up by me and some by others. To make it harder for myself, I will be switching save files each time the desired Nicheling dies. Current Challenge The tribe has a starting limit of four, but they must accept all wanderers, and they up the limit, which is currently six. Current Nicheling Goal Head: Cracker Jaw Eye Color: Green Eyes: Shortsighted Horns: Black/White Antlers Pattern Color: Brown/Brown Body: Water Body Paws: Claw and Claw Hind Legs: Webbed Hind Legs Tail: Swimming Fur: Grey/Black Pattern Type: Mask Story Ebrahim has his first daughter, and they name her Kai. Artur is now a child. Unlike his brother/his entire family, he wants to leave the comfort and safety of home to go explore. Ebrahim has to convince Lucine that he'll be fine. Andrey continues to crack open coconuts while Lucine approaches Ebrahim. "What is it?" She asks. "...Look, Lucine. I'm nearing my final days. My gems are dimming. I...I would like to have another daughter, if possible," Ebrahim sighs. Lucine agrees. Instead of having a daughter, Ebrahim has a son, named Milor. He is basically a living replica of his mother. Without warning, Ebrahim suddenly lets out all of his feelings, screaming about how he never loved Lucine and how he only wanted daughters and many other things. This kicks off a life-long problem for Milor that makes him nervous in the most ordinary situations. Eventually, everyone is forced to ignore Ebrahim as he continues ranting even when he is out of moves. Ebrahim passes away, though no one cares too much after the previous day's outburst. Andrey is grown up now, meaning that he can now crack open more coconuts because I NEED CRACKER JAW IN THE MUTATION MENU he can now have a family of his own. Kai decides to run off into the unknown with her brother. Artur grows up, making Lucine trust him even more and allowing Kai to run off with him. After being startled by a mole, Milor gets even more anxious and refuses to leave the comfort of home, only clearing grasses. Kai and Artur continue to run off. "Mom, the nest is broken!" Milor exclaims with a shaky voice, pointing to the half-destroyed nest. "It'll be okay, dear. It's just more nesting ma-" "NO!" Milor yelps, leaping in the way of what would've been a paw swipe. He repairs the nest. Lucine finds comfort in being able to kill the mole, despite only having 1 strength. Kai and Artur, both grown up, make some headway into their exploration. Well, I gotta be honest. I am getting pretty bored of this, it being quite uneventful. I may do my own "Clans Divided" playthrough with my own twist on it, or maybe "How much food can you get in 50 days?" or something different. I will do a few Steam Niche Challenges as well. If you want to know my favorite Nichelings from this, then here they are: I hope you all enjoyed horny Bearnice, the rivalry between the two brothers, and Ebrahim's outburst before he died!1 point

More facts: every cat in this game except for the wanderers is offspring of Waspstar and Patchstar. The reason they dont all look the same is because each and every one of them was heavily edited with the console to have a unique appearance whilst keeping common traits among each clan. Common traits among BrightClan is light fur colours and short snout, while DarkClan is darker fur and poison fangs.1 point

Oh no, I don’t want my hair to die! I heard a lot of people want my hair! ...Just kidding. I know what you mean. I’d probably dye it black... or any dark colour. Dark colours look good on me because I have pale skin. My turn! Favorite country flag?1 point

The London Philharmonic has a whole album of video game music rewritten and played by their orchestra. Tetris and Mario, it's ridiculous. But there are also more serious pieces in there, Halo and CoD. Liberi Fatali is in there, and that song has serious drama. What's the best thing about cats?1 point

I have two! Going nuts in Super Smash Bros and attempting to take aesthetic screenshots of all the fighters. Sounds scary, but I had a lot of fun figuring out what angle measures looked the best. Arbiters grounds in Twilight Princess. Period. The boss is super fun and I loved the puzzles. My turn! What’s your favorite orchestrated song?1 point

Maybe you could eventually make a new file and say that a bunch of predators...killed everyone? Something like that, and Minera's all alone again. And instead of 1000 moons, since you were at about 200 moons, just go up to 800. I don't know, just a suggestion, and you don't have to do it immediately. 🙂1 point

This was written in response to the following prompt: "Two siblings engage in a fight with sticks. To their parents, it looks like childish fun, but to the kids, it is an epic duel to the death." Pivotal Moment His breath heaved, his body sagging, but alert. Sweat dripped into my eye, and I blinked to clear it. Somehow I knew, I knew that it was coming. He’d seen the opening and the blow was coming. I lifted my own blade, steel meeting steel, but he leaned hard into the blow, throwing me to the ground through greater strength and weight. I saw the shadow against the sun and rolled as he struck the earth behind me. I pulled my knees up and rolled directly into a kneel, scrambling up. He struck before I could get my footing, pressing his attack, forcing me to stumble, then stumble again to get my footing. He’s too aggressive, I realized. But he was bigger than me, faster. Would it be enough to take advantage of? I might fight magnificently and still, lose. But I would lose anyway. The only thing left was to bet everything on this strike. My life, my cause, my princess. They would live or suffer based on one moment. I stumbled back again from his furious assault. Again, I fell. Again, he lunged to strike while I was down. I thrust my sword forward as my back struck the ground – combined with my backward motion, the forward thrust was almost motionless, but his body provided the power. He thrust his chest against the blade, his own aggression delivering the deathblow. “You . . . never taught me that.” Blood dripped down the blade, coating my hands like hot grease. “I taught you all you know, big brother . . . but not all that I know.” I lifted my foot, bracing his body, and directed him to fall to the side. Out the window, Jonathon and his brother were playing. Jacob was writhing on the ground, pretending to die, and the younger Jonathon was up and cheering in glory. “Do you think Jacob lets him win, honey? Is that healthy, to pretend to lose? Or should we encourage it? I just don’t know.” “They’re boys, honey. Let boys be boys.”1 point

This would make the game impossible to play unless you were to stay on the same island. Not only would you need to travel on land to move to different islands, there is also a lot less to explore underwater so the game would be a whole lot less interesting Also, have you heard of full stops? Commas? It would be so much easier to read if you used a little bit of punctuation1 point
