  1. Hi! I'm fuzzysherbet, and I'm here for Niche. I've only had the game for a few days, but am definitely loving it! I first heard about the game from the Creatures Community, but only fully got into it once I saw some of JessiMew's videos.

  3. The cultist bunnils have been spotted on a Whale Island. Have you or a loved one seen any of these disturbing meetings? Have your nichelings take a photo and send it here.

  7. I finished it! im not sure its on the same island or they have the same ages or immunity genes, but i recreated the nichelings as closely as I could. they all have the same patterns, fur colours and visible genes, but some recessive genes may be different. Also, the nichelings have different portraits and family tree photos because I had to use console, but none of the other glitches should affect it. also dont mind the albino wanderer is technically not a wanderer and a child of adam and eve, but i gave him different immunities so it doesnt matter. and i may have swapped around sunflower and buttercup, and the child of the albino wanderer is an adult, i couldnt turn her back into a baby and she hasnt been named. lastly, i invited in a really cute wanderer, and a few more have spawned. enjoy the savefile, and tell me if there are any improvements I could make for you or creatures I could add. if you celebrate christmas, consider this a gift! 11. With christmas coming tomorrow, I would like to make a tribute to all the rogue males, wanderers, and dodomingos who have been brutally murdered over the year. The rogues are always told to be evil, dangerous nichelings, and they get all the hate when they show up. All they want is love and a family, but they get tracked down and killed at their homes. This also goes to all the orphaned bearyenas out there. This holiday season, lets all let those poor souls live happy, and calm lives, so they dont suffer like the rest of their kind.(This is a challenge by the way) On the other hand, lets see who can make the most interesting holiday event in their game!!!

  13. Long ago, there was a pantheon of five mighty gods. The white god, Ugila, god of the sea and wishes. The tan wife of Ugila, Ohb; goddess of the sky and fire. and their three children; Neeti, the red goddess of mountains and life force. Kourai, the brown goddess of storms and love. And Icunuse, the black god of wind and dance. They decided that they wanted a tribe on their island that they resided on, so Ugila and Ohb worked together to create a mighty storm that would bring in two nichelings capable of creating a mighty tribe. Two souls wash up unconscious Eerik and Edite. Neeti, Kourai, and Icunuse send them a dream, telling them that they were here to have a mighty foundation on the island and introduce them to the five gods. They suggest that both of them choose a patron god or goddess before fading away and waking them up. Edite stumbles to her paws. "You're Eerik. From the dream." She steps over to him.: "I.. I guess it wasn't just a dream then," he mumbles. "We can make it if we work together. Follow my lead." Eerik chooses Neeti as his patroness, for he is a timid nicheling and wishes that he had her valor. Edite chooses Kourai as her patroness, hoping to be as loving but also as strong as she. Eventually, the two of them inevitably fall in love; Kourai blesses the relationship, and Eerik falls for Edite due to her strong but gentle mannerisms. After some days, they have a child and name her Narcisa. Narcisa is smug, modest, and a survivor. She chooses Ohb as her patroness. "The clan is also joined by Chichi. He is happy and sweet, but has a darker and more serious side. He chooses Ugila as his patron, for he wishes to forget his past and look towards the future. Eerik and Edite have another child; this time, a boy named Vibianu. He chooses Ugila as his patron, his choice inspired by his fascination with the sea. Meanwhile, Chichi and Narcisa are bonding well together. "Maybe you were brought here for a reason," Narcisa muses, looking at Chichi. "Maybe Ugila brought you here to help you forget everything." "Perhaps," Chichi says, nuzzling Narcisa. It isn't long before Chichi and Narcisa have a child of their own, becoming mates. They name their daughter Harshi, and she is calm and artistic. She chooses Icunuse as her patron.

  16. You don't have to fight the balance bears. They only move one turn at a time so you can usually easily avoid them. If you want to fight them (which I do recommend) big body, spiky body or armored boy would be the most useful as they give defense but you can defeat them easily without. Just have very strong Nichelings (double bearyena claws are my go to with horns) just a strong as you can get them, preferably with poison fangs or scorpion tail as Balance Bears are vulnerable to poison. Also when it gets cold keep your Nichelings in groups of three to keep them warm. Having purr snout Nichelings around to heal your fighters is also a good idea. Apart from having fighter, hunters with a decent speed stat are also useful to hunt the bunnies. Hope that helps

  20. Oooohhhh, I found a lovely wanderer last night. Couldnt invite him in cause its a Whims playthrough and we cant have any more tribe members, but my Matriarch bread with him to have a baby later. I mean just look at that coloring? And the Tail! *Swoon*

  21. I want to draw some pictures of Nichelings, but I'm not sure how the ones with front limbs that aren't touching the ground would be used to walk, especially if they have double Deformed Paw. I tried drawing some quick sketches of ones with Deformed Paw, but they look like Dinosaurs. So, the question: If a Nicheling with, let's say, double Deformed Paw were standing up (is a position like they were on all four paws, even though their front ones don't touch the ground), what would they look like? Would they just walk like T-Rexs? Would they magically sprout limbs in order to walk and then de-sprout them once they stop? Clarification, please!

  22. Hey I was thinking about a Body Type that would overwrite the colors of a creature like Toxic Body does, but instead of standing out with intimidating warning colors, it would help the Nichelings to blend in perfectly with their enviroment: the Chameleon Body A chameleon changes his colors based on what they see to blend in so I suggest the colors would change depending on what biom-tile they are standing on. The pattern would still be the same (a spotted one would still be spotted, a striped striped...) but also change in color depending on the biom. I made a picture for illustration 5 times the same nicheling in different enviroments (I forgot the beach and the water but you hopefully get what I mean) I'd like if the body could be made to look slightly scaly instead of fluffy ^-^ It would give a lot of camouflage but has next to no other benefits, maybe heat resistance +1 or 2 but cold resistance -1 or 2 if anything Let me know what you think

  23. So, here's some questions for everybody. Answer with how you would normally react if the event occurred in your tribe. A Wanderer with bad genes appears. What will you do with them? A sickly baby is born, and you don't want it in your tribe. What will you do with them? A Bearyena appears, and all your creatures only have one strength. Do you fight it off and suffer the consequences, or run and hope for the best? One of your favorite creatures is really slow, and gets left behind when the tribe heads for the port. Do you wait for them, or go on ahead without them? A Bearyena appears, and you kill it. It has a baby, and the tribe has an okay amount of food. What do you do? My answers: Well, I have a habit of killing the creatures I don't like, soo... If they're really cool, I'll probably keep them. If not, I usually let them get taken by a bluebird, or if I want to be really extreme, say they 'absolutely LOVE the water' and drown them. Probably fight it off while my best creatures run. Probably wait. Unless I really wanted some Bearyena Genes, I'd kill the baby.

  24. @Philo has the release date been narrowed down at all or is it still planned for around first quarter 2019?
    1 point
  25. 1: Just invite them. I don't keep any wanderers because they always steal my food. It depends on my tribe whether to kill them or keep them. 2: Keep it far away from other creatures, or feed to the bluebirb if I hate it. 3: RUN 4: Depends on how much I like the creature and how slow/far they are. I mostly wait for them though. 5: If I still need to get all the bearyena genes, yes. ngl I always invite them in unless they just get annoying

  27. Welcome. I got into Niche through Jessi Mew as well

  28. Thanks, Lurkily! I used to play the Creatures series a lot, and I still play from time to time. But when I was really into it, I used to dabble with the genetics editors a lot, and I actually made a genetic breed for it! It's not Mendelian genetics, but I still love dipping into a new baby norn's genes to see what they got from their parents and what they mutated themselves. If that counts as artificial life and genetic algorithms, then yeah, I am definitely interested in that kind of stuff!

  29. Mmmmmm. Sherbert. You're already ahead of the game with an alias like that. Welcome on board, and enjoy your stay; we're always glad to welcome a new voice. Be sure to let a mod know if there;s anything we can do. Whether it's helping you use the forum tools, or resolving a dispute, we're here. Having an interest in genetic games, have you ever taken an interest in artificial life, genetic algorithms and simulations? Galapagos and some of the more obscure, clunky artificial life sims were something I would run as screensavers, once upon a time.

  30. ok, hear me out here. if you know how to put savefiles in your game, i could recreate this tribe (obv. not with the same immunities or island, and probably slightly different ages) in an hour or so (probably even less). i've never lost a save before, but i would be devestated if that happened to me. im gonna start work on it now, maybe it could be a christmas gift?

  31. There's not a limb that has both strength and cracking, so I think this would be a cool addition

  32. God, I'm so sorry to hear this. I've gone through the same thing multiple times... I've lost all my tribes at one time too. Perhaps you can try to re-incarnate them in another save!

  33. Jacobina worries that the death of Veronika is a sign from the gods that Ohb needs to be respected with another devotee. Luckily, Angelika arrives soon, and they encourage her to be the devotee of Ohb- to which she obliges. Sterre has another child- a son named Severin. He decides to be a devotee of Icunuse. Though a bit arrogant, he is also impulsive- his silly decisions usually manage to knock down his ego a few pegs. Sterre then has Rawiya. A devotee of Neeti, Rawiya tries her hardest to be a good tribe member, making her a bit uptight at times.

  35. This suggestion was brought to you by my crippling obsession over Splatoon You can take this either way and call it "octopus body" instead x33 Okay, so... that's what I imagine it would look like. (If you're confused by the triangle on it's shoulder, it's supposed to resemble a squid's head... kinda like this) "And why are the eyes so box-y?!", You ask. My idea is that if the squid body gene is in effect, the pupils turn into rectangles. My reason? Squids have rectangular pupils. But squids also have circular and oval-shaped pupils you dingus! Okay, so, what would the squid body do? My proposed idea: they can shoot ink whilst underwater. How would this work? Say a leech sneaks up behind your innocent creature while underwater. The player has the option to squirt ink directly at the leech, and it would travel for two tiles. This stuns the leech for a full in-game day, and therefore, allows the creature to escape. This is also applicable to creatures like bearyenas and wanderers (if also underwater.) There could be an option where you can choose what direction you want to shoot ink. "But what about camera direction," you ask. "wouldn't that screw up where the ink goes?" Actually, good point there, Francis! ...I'm sure there's a logical proposed solution but I can't think of one right now. Other than the option to shoot ink, what else does this give you? +2 swimming +1 Underwater breathing Happy ink shooting!

  39. I love how this discussion turned from questions about Niche to us complaining about Warrior Cats covers in different languages/nations lol Well, since I basically started it, I'ma complain about the reprinted English covers. OK-- what is happening to Firestar's face?? I know it's supposed to be water (at least I hope,) but it makes Firestar's head look a lil' squished. Also, can we just talk about that in the "New Prophecy" arc, all the books are just zoomed in on random cats' faces? The cover on Midnight is my favorite, because it looks like Brambleclaw is surprised by the fact he is on the cover of Midnight. And, while this isn't directly about the cover, can we just talk about the "manga"? They're called manga, but as a manga enthusiast myself, I strongly object. Because one, it's not read right-to-left, like actual manga. And two, it wasn't made/drawn by actual Japanese mangaka also because the art style for some of them are bad lololololololol But that's just me!

  43. More plaaaaaaaants!!! Fern: Appears in jungle biomes, can be destroyed with 4 strength to get 3 nesting material, can't be stepped on, regrows. Flowers: Appears in easy islands, can't be destroyed or covered by grass, attracts rabbils, can be stepped on. Short grass: Appears in grassland and savannah biomes, can be stepped on, doesnt do anything special XD Weird leafy sorrel thing: Appears in grasslands and jungles, heals one day of damage, can't be stepped on, regrows. Cucumber/pumpkin thing: Appears in jungles, "fruits"(?) can be harvested for 3 food, fruit regrows, can be destroyed with 4 strength to ged 3 food and 2 nesting material, can't be stepped on, doesn't regrow after being destroyed.

  44. I would say that they hobble, their heads would go low and their butt up and they would hobble around on their legs. I also imagine it to be painful and uncomfortable for the Nicheling to walk like that, though thinking about rogue males they probably don't have much of a problem with that ^^

  45. Yeah, I just randomly name my safefiles and A and S are just conveniently placed next to each other (I had some really crappy starters at first so I restarted the world until I had some better ones and I get really lazy with typing in the names over and over again) ^^

  47. NOTE: I did not prepare any of these save for sharing. I just saw this post and put some of my current saves here. REALLY BIG NOTE: All of these tribes are on the RELEASE PREVIEW! DO NOT PLAY on OFFICIAL RELEASE VERSIONS! Slot0.nichesave: The Kikonoko Tribe! (My favorite tribe!) We have lots of immunities so it's been quite a while since there was a sick creature in the tribe Slot1.nichesave: 'Anchient Tales.' Yes, I know I spelled it wrong. Hopefully we'll be able to change save's names in the future. Anyways, we have Digging Trunk in this tribe. They started out on First Snow, but we were so cold so as soon as we broke the ice block, I sent everyone to the nearest port, which lead to their current island. I want to try and get all the snow genes (let me know if you get any more while playing on this save!) Slot2.nichesave: Adam's Story! This is my Tribe for trying to get to the Home Island. Plenty of Home Island Immunity here! We haven't gone very far, but I've kept track of every family member here. (NOTE: This looks very messy with unnecessary duplicates because the website goes crazy with them when I start breeding brothers and sisters together etc)
