With christmas coming tomorrow, I would like to make a tribute to all the rogue males, wanderers, and dodomingos who have been brutally murdered over the year. The rogues are always told to be evil, dangerous nichelings, and they get all the hate when they show up. All they want is love and a family, but they get tracked down and killed at their homes. This also goes to all the orphaned bearyenas out there. This holiday season, lets all let those poor souls live happy, and calm lives, so they dont suffer like the rest of their kind.(This is a challenge by the way) On the other hand, lets see who can make the most interesting holiday event in their game!!!4 points

So, I picked up the game last night. I promptly jumped into story mode... and poor Adam's descendants have been dropping like flies. I've never had more than eleven creatures at once, usually no more than seven. And yet, I constantly, constantly run out of food. I find a nice spot, settle in, and gather up the food. And then, problem is, when I have to move on I can never reliably find more resources on said island, often because the grass gets in the way. This puts me in a vise: either I clear out the grass and miss gathering resources, or I try to move through it and starve anyway. I'm thinking that something is very, very wrong with how I'm playing, and would like to ask for some beginner's tips. I should note, I did try specializing into some of the more exotic niches like flight and water. That... ended VERY poorly. Best I've found is to just mix crushing jaws and a combination of nimble paws with something else. It still doesn't keep me alive reliably. I would almost welcome seeing an island full of bearyenas, at least I wouldn't have to worry about food.3 points

i prefer sticking primarily to sight mode except when i’m looking for wanderers to recruit or hear a bearyena. believe me, clearing the tall grass is worth the effort; it’s much easier to see what’s going on instead of being stuck in scent mode. and eleven nichelings isn’t bad; that’s what i usually stick to, since it allows me to tell a story with my creatures. what i do is usually have at least one nicheling near a food source each day to collect, and then at least one or two clearing grass. it allows for easier food access and visibility.3 points

You don't have to fight the balance bears. They only move one turn at a time so you can usually easily avoid them. If you want to fight them (which I do recommend) big body, spiky body or armored boy would be the most useful as they give defense but you can defeat them easily without. Just have very strong Nichelings (double bearyena claws are my go to with horns) just a strong as you can get them, preferably with poison fangs or scorpion tail as Balance Bears are vulnerable to poison. Also when it gets cold keep your Nichelings in groups of three to keep them warm. Having purr snout Nichelings around to heal your fighters is also a good idea. Apart from having fighter, hunters with a decent speed stat are also useful to hunt the bunnies. Hope that helps3 points

I'm not very good at introducing posts lol. Anyways here's another idea The coconut claws would be based off of coconut crab pincers. Like in the crab, the size of the pincers would be different on one side from the other. If the gene affects the right paw the claw will be larger and add 2 cracking and 2 strength, but if the gene affects the left paw the claw will be smaller and add 1 cracking, 1 strength and 1 collecting To unlock the coconut claws, you would need to attack crabbits a certain amount of times. I was thinking 50? Let me know what you think Also, I was thinking it could be changed so that coconuts requires at least 2 or 3 cracking for your nicheling to collect them. It seems a bit silly that it doesn't take any more cracking ability to crack open a coconut than it does to crack open an acorn Heres a picture for reference2 points

Keeping a few nichelings parked by berry bushes is a good way to keep food coming in. Also, you don't necessarily need cracker jaw and nimble fingers on the same nicheling; nimble fingers can crack and collect. If you have any nichelings with a strength stat of at least 2, they can take down rabbils and stagmoles with one hit. If these nichelings are close enough to a rabbil to be able to go to the same tile as it, they can jump right on top of the rabbil, which means it won't be able to to avoid your nicheling's attack. So you can chase down a rabbil, kill it, and collect the meat all in three movements. I'd recommend putting horns on everything as soon as you can so most of your nichelings will be able to grab any small prey that comes into range.2 points

Welcome to the forums! You have used scent and hearing mode right? That comes in very useful. With flying nichelings, the best genes to have ime are Beak, Cracker Jaw, bearyena hindlegs, and fishing tail and scorpion tail. I have an all-wings tribe that is flourishing with many of these genes.2 points

i'm so excited for this! i'm showing it to my friend who initially got me into niche owo2 points

ok, hear me out here. if you know how to put savefiles in your game, i could recreate this tribe (obv. not with the same immunities or island, and probably slightly different ages) in an hour or so (probably even less). i've never lost a save before, but i would be devestated if that happened to me. im gonna start work on it now, maybe it could be a christmas gift?2 points

Does it exist? If so, I'd love to see it! (I'm a big fan of concept artwork if you're curious)1 point

I finished it! im not sure its on the same island or they have the same ages or immunity genes, but i recreated the nichelings as closely as I could. they all have the same patterns, fur colours and visible genes, but some recessive genes may be different. Also, the nichelings have different portraits and family tree photos because I had to use console, but none of the other glitches should affect it. also dont mind the albino wanderer is technically not a wanderer and a child of adam and eve, but i gave him different immunities so it doesnt matter. and i may have swapped around sunflower and buttercup, and the child of the albino wanderer is an adult, i couldnt turn her back into a baby and she hasnt been named. lastly, i invited in a really cute wanderer, and a few more have spawned. enjoy the savefile, and tell me if there are any improvements I could make for you or creatures I could add. if you celebrate christmas, consider this a gift! I messed with some of the more obscure stuff. There was one game called Galapagos - it was basically a simulated robot with no feedback except some reward mechanism if its flailing about got it closer to where you were clicking, which had to learn how to effectively move to reach a goal; it took several days of moving around to learn how to move its arms. Another one was something similar to a game-of-life sim with different species that each had genetic traits. They weren't a lot of fun, per se, but it was interesting to watch them develop with time.1 point

It's p normal for me to have food in the thousands because i usually have large tribes n i tell all the nichelings to collect food. The jungle biomes were hard for me because i didn't want to collect the food from the nice plants and turn them into mean plants, my food dipped like 800 but that's ok. It got back up on the next island. Recently, I got to the home island by going to whale island. Told the whale to take me to the crossing, and then went north from there.1 point

*when you have the weirdest dreams about you and your friends turning into nichelings, they're all derp-snouts while your big nose* friend: I look so ugly me: I WANTED TO BE APART OF DERP-SNOUT UNION BUT IM NOT T_T friend: wut - - - Bearyena: Hi Me: *shoves friend in front of me* friend: what no bearyena: ew no *goes around* me: chase it away! friend: ??? (But rn you don't need swimming)1 point

This makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint. Of course the short snout would become rare when every other snout is more useful.1 point

So, the other day I decided on trying to create another exciting Niche world with Storymode. I figured that it'd be quite relaxing to play, since normally I challenge myself with hard islands right off the bat. So I make it all the way to having Eve join the tribe, as usual, and then they have three babies, all female, which is totally fine. Then, I move over to the next island. More and more babies are born, one after another, all female. At this point I'm desperate to have a boy, as my only male is Adam and there are no wild creatures to be found. Only two days left, and then another girl is born. Last day alive, female. I'm left with not a single male in the tribe. Since I had to force breeding at the end to hope for a boy, some of my creatures are dying of starvation. And then... a blessing arrived. This strange, spiky-bodied male shows up out of the blue, deformed paw and all, ready to breed with my first-born who he matches up perfectly with, and, happens to be the one that found him in the first place. Wow. This is what everything looked like. Eight females, and then our precious make on the left. Dreams really do come true. It was so fun seeing this all happen! (P.S. sorry for all of the warrior cat-themed names, I was doing this with my younger cousins, and they wanted to choose some warrior names, lol. Gingerstar on the far right of the second picture is the creature that found our lovely male. :))1 point

most of the complaints are about the gene system it seems. i think most don't understand how it works, and that it is fine to inbreed as long as the genes are different. that and they want more story. in my opinion most of the complaints are: we did't do research and expected the game to be something it isn't1 point

I think our blind Nichelings should be able to move at least limited (if they could move just the same as the other Nichelings then there'd be no need for the blindness genes so limited movement) especially because wandering blind Nichelings just zip around like squirrels on crack.1 point
-
@Pokestardragacraft Thats an interesting take! It'd make it a lot more interesting if that was the case in the game.1 point
-
So, I voted limited movement but let me explain my perspective in more detail. I think that blind creatures should have full access to do anything in smell and hearing modes as that is all they’ve ever known and would make the added smelling and hearing more useful. However for normal-eyesighted creatures, they are much more dependent on sight so they should not be able to do as much during these modes as blind creatures.1 point

I got super lucky and when I started my Killer Frost Lands file it spawned FOUR ice blocks! So of course I'm going to share! Please comment below on what you got out of your ice blocks, and I'll post an edit here with what I got! Have fun~ ❤️ RimeSlot0.nichesave .::EDIT::. I died twice XD and on the third try, after 60 long days, I finally cracked open all the ice blocks! Here's my progress, in chronological order:1 point
