  1. This is Nunu. He is red brown and beige ( I think Beige). Even though I lost the save file (I found the file!), I had a few screenshots. Took the entire day to complete. (I'm a perfectionist)

  2. Hi everyone! My name is Henry, and I'm really exited to join the Stray fawn community! Yes I'm the guy who suggested the jumping goat for the new update. Thanks for the awesome artwork, Goggles-kun! I have some crazy cool ideas for new niche updates and will love to share them with the community later. I love researching stuff so if you need any help with factual info for niche ideas, look no further. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself.

  3. A desert sand snake would be an interesting predator as it could poison you after attacking. Coconut trees spawning in small oasis's in the middle of the islands could also be a feature. A new gene could perhaps be an armoured jaw, which can collect cactus berries without damage being taken, because what's a classic desert without its cactus? As well as that, a "camel eye" could be added, with long eyelashes to protect from sandstorms, which would occur occasionally and do small damage to baby or teenage nichelings that aren't next to an adult. Sunburn could also be added, when there is heat strokes that last for a few days. If you aren't in a body of water by the second day, you would get a "Dehydrated" effect which would do 1 damage every day until you go into a water source. Those are just some of my random ideas, hope they made sense and you liked them ^-^

  4. The title says it all. No fancy rules for this tribe, I'm just playing for the heck of it I moved the Breaking Dawn Tribe, and then after some scientific research on Deadly Hills and other Deadly Hills saves that were deleted after the Endless Night glitch happened, I decided hey, I wanna go to whale island because I freaking love it Two starters. Both have dominant AND recessive cracker jaw. Fun. I liked the 'last names' that @Lilytuft had in her No Mutations playthrough, so these guys are named Concord Diggingmask and Chicago Velvetstep. (after places i lived) Their first son is named Princeton Diggingstep. Next they have a cute daughter who they name Georgia. Then, they have a son named Oliver. (short snout comes RAGING BAcK) The first of many, MANY stupid rogue males appears. Twin boys named Bernard and Neville are born. Neville and Georgia have opposing immunities, so they have a son named Rokir. Our first bearyena. Unfortunately, a small bit of damage is taken. The child was invited in but we kinda lost track of it so whoops A wandering female is found. Her name is Melais Croakwhisper. She takes Bernard as her mate. Georgia gives borth to Moley, Nimble and Creme. Melais gives birth to little Tanu Croakstep. His face isn't a sight to behold, but he's a charming lad. Georgia dies giving birth to little Fawn, who I love so muchh ;o; This lovely, infertile dude shows up and introduces himself as Barre Soarfeather. (Barre because he's barre-n. im sorry) Tanu gets a baby sister. Her name is Banana. A pretty beaked birb is found. Her name is Koisko Swiftpeck. Rogue males are popping up left and right. This would be an easy peasy island if it wasn't for them... Banana is followed by Pickle and Waffles. EEEEEEeeeeee!!!!!!1!!! This guys pops out of the grasses. His name is Nuvannu Singlewing. Oh noooo Fawn and Rokir have a daughter whom I also love ❤️ If you look you can see Creme being helplessly impregnated by a rogue Nimble gives birth to Tanu's daughter, Reana Diggingcroak. The madness ensues Mr. Singlewing is Single no more. He has fallen in love with Koisko Swiftpeck! The two have a beautiful albino baby boy named Spirit Swiftwing. Also, this thing is born. Moley has her first children, twins named Midnight and Lemon Diggingcroak.

  5. I'll understand if you happen to find this suggestion overly morbid, but since our packs can already devour befriended bearyenas... ..., I'd like to propose the packs should be able to hunt and ingest rogue males and possibly wandering nichelings. Both rogues and wanderers would give the same amount of feedings (7?) and would be able to protect themselves/flee on a level corresponding to their genes. For example, a strong/poisonous/spiky/etc. wandering nicheling could pose a serious threat to the pack (yet somehow I doubt anyone would kill such a promising potential member), while a crippled rogue male could be an easy prey, and a life-saver in case there were little alternative food sources. Neither rogues or wanderers would attack the pack on their own (initiate fights), ever, with the exception of the 'attacks' the rogues already conduct.

  6. So, if any of you guys didn't know, when you right-click Niche on Steam and select "properties", you are allowed to go back to earlier versions of the game. I decided to go back to version 0.2.1., because that was my favorite version of the game. And I'll also be recording my playthrough in this thread, so without further ado... Chapter One: New Beginnings On a newly-formed island in the middle of the ocean, there lived two creatures. They named themselves Adam and Eve, because they apparently were fans of the Bible or something. They both had brilliant white coats, black eyes, and a wonderful will to populate the empty island... as all creatures want to do. So, they set off on their magical dream to have a family and not die! Their first child is one named Rotaro. He's fun, a little smug, but definitely willing to put his family before him. Welcome to the world, Rotaro! A day or so later, Adam and Eve have another child. He looks suspiciously similar to Rotaro, and since I forgot his name, welcome to the world Rotaro II! A short while after Rotaro II was born, Adam noticed something was sprawling around in the bushes. He investigates and finds a cute little wanderer. "What's your name?" He asked. The little wanderer looked at him, and cowered back. Adam offered her five berries, and she reluctantly accepted them. Welcome to the tribe, Ramses! Eve already admires Ramses for her nimble hand, meaning they can get more food at a faster rate. She puts Ramses in a job where she collects berries every day, and was already excited how many berries they were getting. Rotaro, now a young juvenile, took notice of Ramses' excellent collecting abilities and tried to flirt with her. Though Ramses was way older than Rotaro, he savored every second he spent with her. One day, Rotaro decided to invite Ramses to the shorelines. Even though Ramses was older now and had no real interest in those things anymore, she accepted and followed him to the shore. "You're just as beautiful as the seashells in the ocean," he told her as Rotaro felt the waves lap up against his paws. "I know it, because you really are." Ramses felt warm. "That's very nice of you." They looked out into the endless ocean. Rotaro leaned against her shoulder. Though he was still just a kid, Ramses already loved him. The next day, Eve wasn't so sure where her son and slave berry picker had run off to, but didn't think too much about it and had another child. Welcome to the world, Snowfall! Back to Ramses and Rotaro, they secretly agree to run away and raise a family. Since I couldn't think of anything else creative for this scene, here's the picture that goes with it. Secrets aren't secrets forever, and Ramses returns back to the camp pregnant with Rotaro's child. Though Eve was a little horrified at first, she brushed it off and took care of Snowfall. The next day Ramses had a child. Welcome to the world, Meko! Out of nowhere, Eve sees something pop up from the bushes and decides to investigate. She gets closer and is surprised to see a tiny rabbil. Eve chases it around for a little bit, and is surprised to see more rabbils. Eve chases the closest one, and is, instead, surprised to see an unwanted guest instead... TBA!

  7. This is a great idea! First off, I think that a blooming season should exist. Every time it rains in a desert, the ground turns into a carpet of flowers, like this:

  8. oh wow, i didnt think people would immediately draw up animals, thank you so much!! ❤️ it says on google fennec foxes also eat plants, so maybe they would mostly eat dried up berry bushes, and could steal meat if their hunger stat is low? it could be like a walrus deer, but a bit smaller, and if it is attacked its fennec fox side will come out, and attack, but it would only do 2 damage, and then try to run away immediately? it obviously wouldnt be affected as much by sandstorms, since it could have the camel eyelashes. i would say it would give 15 food, 20 maybe? that was just some things off the top of my head. this idea is awesome!

  9. This is a perfect presentation of the mutant camel that I was talking about in my suggestion!

  10. A... Fenmel? Cannec? A combination of a camel and a fennec. Has good heat resistance. When hunted, gives lots of food. Eats both meat and plants. I'm too lazy to do my research rightnow...

  11. Let's see... Meerkats, camel mutant things, coyote, badgers, palm trees that would give shade since there wouldn't be normal trees, I also always liked the idea of dehydration so there would be a gene that would allow a creature to take water from a cactus safely but then there would be an oasis that would have a tree and a small patch of water that your creatures could drink from. But I also just like the idea of dehydration on almost all the islands and you could drink from a river or the ocean, or on a burning Savannah or Desert an oasis.

  12. Hello there! I'm new here! (Hopefully this is how I make a post because I've never done any of this before haha) My name is Nyssa, and I'm an avid Niche fan! I'm fairly new to the game, having only started early 2018, but I love the direction the game is heading in and the current build already. I hope that I can be a part of this awesome community with you all! ^^ I have a bunch of ideas that are mostly weird and probably not at all functional, but I'm still gonna post about them in the features section :b Ok, well, thats me, byeeeee!

  13. @NyssaDerp I love all of these ideas!!! the camel eye and sandstorm is definitely my favourite, that's so creative!! i would think the sunburn wouldnt work for most nichelings because they are protected by fur, but that brought an idea for hairless nichelings to mind! it would be a body type, and it would add +5 heat resistance, but it would make you vunerable to sunburn? idk, thats just an idea that came to mind. the dehydrated thing is awesome, too! a special drinking action could be added. thank you for all the suggestions, i love them all!!! ❤️

  15. I actually prefer the first option. This could be a great way to make the cactus useful. It's always annoyed me that there isn't really any way you can use the cactus without having a certain amount of defense, which Im pretty sure can only be achieved by having the armour body which is only unlockable on snowy islands, the complete opposite of savannah islands. It just really really annoys me because cacti are an important food source for a lot of animals living in dry climates Also, not to be nitpicky or anything, but the pollen is actually the male part of the flowers sex cells. The stuff thats eaten by hummingbirds and the like is called nectar

  17. Unfortunately, rebuilding the game for mobile would basically be a complete rebuild of the code. PC Games aren't very portable to iOS or Android, even before you consider that the UI needs to be not just rebuilt, but also redesigned. The devs have stated that they do not have plans for Niche on mobile, I'm afraid.

  21. Just a small thing, but wouldn't it make more sense for the spiky body to add defense instead of strength? Animals that have quills or otherwise spiky bodies use their spikiness as a form of defense, not as a weapon Pictured below, from top to bottom, is a hedgehog, a porcupine, a thorny devil, a puffer fish and some sea urchins, all animals that use spikiness as a defense mechanism

  22. First one I have already tried and have had good luck so far. the other one still needs some testing. first challenge: Wanderer Challenge The rules: only ONE adult nicheling in a tribe. this nicheling can ONLY 🥖 with other wanderers. Once the wanderers’ offspring has grown up, the parent must be released ASAP. the wanderer cannot stay in one place for long. Also no clearing out excessive amounts of grass/‘settling down’ to make the challenge even harder you can ban the mutation menu. This is optional. challenge 2: The Beehive Challenge 🐝 i just made this up and haven’t tested it yet. So who knows if this will even work, idk. rules: The colony is made up of ‘worker bees,’ which are females who cannot 🍞 , and one ‘queen bee,’ whose only purpose is to give birth to more workers. All drones who are born must be banished or killed, unless they will be the mate of the queen. Also in the colony is a male ‘drone’ who🥖 with the queen. And also a young backup drone. Once the queen dies, a new queen is selected for the throne. If the drone dies, the backup drone takes his place. also you can strive only for yellow fur with black stripes and antennae, and even scorpion tail.

  24. Thanks!! I'm glad you liked them 😋 I love the idea of a hairless Nicheling, I think that would add so much more to the game if it's added!! I think the whole desert biome thing is a neat idea, I hope that it ends up becoming a reality! I'll post any ideas if I have more on here

  31. I think it would prove useful, I mean if you're going to fight OFF an enemy (wanderer/rogue male) then what's to stop them for utilizing that meat? It's not as if you'd intentionally abandon unwanted/excess/elderly (fe)males from the tribe in order to kill and eat them >w> Not like I already send sick(*cough*inbreds) and unwanteds off to the ocean. And call it a tribal custom.... nooope.

  34. So I'm starting this one a bit late butttt.... Let me give you the run down So I forgot the name of my first creatures so they settle down have 2 children and BAM! Bearyena nobody gets hurt because we run from our Nut tree. We settle peacefully until Kunovan, The God of Starvation, appeared and ate all the food along with his mate, Meanaline, our tribe goes into a deep famine. Until Anais grandchildren show cracker jaw and nimble finger. They lived peacefully. Kunovan, angered that two of our tribe mates kill him and his mate, caused more famines from the sky. This caused creatures to drop, A red male named redd came by and mated with Melanism cracker jaw, Sonah, and gave birth to a reincarnated god Snocat, who healed the tribe from wounds from famine. Our porcupine Khana will not join us to the new (Hopefully less famined) isle. Current tribe members: Sonah, Koise, Moanah, Snocat, Catus, Laana We made it! Sadly Snocat died on the port And it is Moana's last day, she just gave birth to Sari the little baby on the right Is this a good omen? Blessed by Meringue! Everytime we find a tree. Killed it, done that, only male dies. This rouge squirt is our only hope. Ahhhh... game froze... Be back later *Yawn*

He has +2 Special attack but -2 Defense. Rubystar, meanwhile, has another kit with Cloudshine, but she dies of old age, leaving Rubystar to raise the kit. His name is Snowlizard. He is quiet when he needs to be, but he loves playing tricks and play-fighting. He has +1 Special attack but -1 Defense. Stalkivy and Volepebble have one more she-kit. her name is Lowcurl. She is quiet and lonely most times. She has +1 Special Attack and Attack but -1 Defense. It is time for the next gathering, but on the way there, Sapphire is attacked! The clan manages to fight the bearyena, but Burrowflower, Volepebble, and Lowcurl are killed in the process. Sapphire shows up to the gathering bloodied and bruised. Rubystar, moved with pity for the clan, speaks softly. "I'm very sorry for what has happened," he says. "Had I warriors to spare I would allow one to come stay on Sapphire camp." "I thank you for your kindness, Rubystar. We will get back in shape eventually, it's just been a low blow." Thankfully, a new she-cat appears on clan borders. her name is Molerose, and she joins Sapphire. She has +1 Attack and defense, but -1 Special attack and special defense. She is very forward and isn't afraid to go after what she wants. Molerose becomes the mate of Willowgaze. They have Fishfawn. She's irresponsible and quirky. She has +1 Attack and Defense, but -2 Special defense. Rubystar moves to his third life.

  39. -Chapter 3 Continuation- Many days pass. The only female compatible with Vanta's immunity set grows old and passes away before Vanta is even an adult. Berries are picked, the tribe is expanding their territory, when suddenly, a wanderer appears. Her name is Anara. While the tribe is happy to see her, they are also heavily disappointed. Anara only has one fertility, she is shortsighted, she has two hemophilia genes, she has a deformed paw, and recessive webbed hind legs. The only good thing about her genes are the recessive bird beak and her different immunity genes. The tribe is in desperate need of new immunities, but they know there's no chance of her ever having a kid due to her low fertility. The tribe kills her off to keep her from stealing food. Anara tries to run, but she is closed in by the three nichelings surrounding her. The tribe is somewhat sad. They cannot find anything here, it seems, other than the various amount of berry bushes. They decide to make a move towards the northern port, however, the port seems to lead to a swampland. In preparation for the toxic berries they know they'll find there, Vanta swears to help his father pass down his toxic fangs. The next day, three babies are born, and the only one with poison fangs (and stripes) is born sick. Her name is Merame. The tribe however doesn't mind the doubled up immunity. In fact, they'll use it to their advantage. If a tribemate has two of the same immunity, then if they breed with someone with two different immunities than them, then the baby is guaranteed to be healthy. Merame's lifespan may be cut in half, but this will not stop her from being a use to her tribe. As it turns out, Vanta and Merame are immunity-compatible. In this tribe, we don't care about incest. They're video game animals. Who cares, I want to live goddamnit. The tribe, not wanting to get sick, moves away from the newborn baby. Next day, and growls can be heard in the bushes. Also Vanta's father passed away so rip. The three nichelings closest to the bearyena head over to possibly kill the thing for food, and for safety. They are unable to kill the thing in the day, which makes worry arise. However, the bearyena is guaranteed to die the next turn due to the amount of damage dealt. Meanwhile, the tribe's striped creatures go off to hide into the grass. When Vanta goes to hide, he finds.. oh! Well, ain't that a pretty female! With poison fangs, too! While she is shortsighted, has a crippled paw, and only two immunity, her other genes are fine. And she has E immunity, too. She does only have two fertility, but it's better than one. Vanta invites her to the tribe. The two mate, and after two tries, the wanderer, Reisre, gets pregnant and builds a nest. The next day, Sirere (short snout) is severely damaged by the bearyena, but the three are able to take the beast out. The three begin to clear out the area by the yeena's corpse, so that the tribe may cross onto the next island when ready to progress northwards. Meanwhile, Resi is born. She is perfectly healthy, and only has one deformed paw. She also has three fertility. The tribe is beginning to look more hopeful, as the poison fang gene is being passed down to more and more creatures. However, since it hasn't rained in a while, the berry bushes are starting to shrivel. But in the meantime, everyone gathers by the island's bay so they may progress onto the next one. Next day, it rains! The tribe picks from berries and takes their first steps into the water. And finally, Merame is grown! Swimmin. Also.. ahoy! Who's this? Not a rogue male, just Kuta, a snip-snouted wanderer! Unfortunately, his genes are undesirable, so we'll leave him alone. Anyways, we're crossing the ocean, and I hate the drowning effect. Like what the actual hell drowning took off EIGHT DAYS of one of my creature's lives, killed the ONLY OTHER CREATURES WITH POISON FANGS BESIDES THE SICK ONE AND RESI, AND NOW EVERYONE'S GONNA FUCKING DIE IN A FEW DAYS BECAUSE OF THAT GODDAMN DROWNING EFFECT. FUCK YOU. WHY DO ALL OF MY CREATURES HAVE B AND HOME ISLAND IMMUNITY I CAN'T FUCKING BREED ANYONE RESI IS THE ONLY ONE WITH DECENT IMMUNITY LEFT I FUCKING HATE NOT HAVING ACCESS TO THE CONSOLE ARCHIPELAGO SUCKS AND EVERYTHING SUCKS OH AND WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT! BECAUSE OF ONE SIMPLE MISTAKE OF LEAVING THE SICK ONE BY PEOPLE WHILE CROSSING EVERYONE'S SICK AND DYING!!! Get in our tribe you disgusting big-nosed piece of worthless shit. Anyways until Resi dies she's not allowed to stop making babies. Anyways she only had two cracker-jawed babies but im throwing them both in the ocean. They're worthless. Speaking of the ocean, the crossings to the next two islands to get to the northern port look relatively easy. We just have to get over there first. aaand I just realized our big-nosed idiot is the only male in the tribe. Sad. Next day, big-nosed bitches. I hate them but hey we have a man so I guess. Anyways, back to storytelling. My ranting's boring. Day 81 of niche hell. A bearyena has decided to come out of nowhere to attack the tribe.. but bonk! Looks like he's stunned! Two nichelings decide to go fight it, but then they do, they discover a strong as heck wanderer. He has a claw and the traditional spiky body. How cool! Get in our tribe so we can make you fight our enemies! Anyways, the next day the bearyena dies of poison and harassment before it can do anything. Everyone crosses onto the next island, which is easier than it should be. Also, I labeled everyone with their names so ya'll could know. Sorry for reduced quality, paint does that and I was too lazy to open firealpaca. This guy, Nutaduk, comes out of nowhere. He's a wanderer. Sexy young man. Too bad he's useless! He has lean body tho so cool. Oh and by the way here's the skeletons of those two kids I threw in the ocean. ANYWAYS MY PATIENCE IS SPENT SO IMA QUIT

  40. -Chapter 2 Continuation- With the new threats of the bearyena and the bluebird, the tribe begins to swiftly move. Meissi, the tribe's oldest member along with Kukirku, decides to spend her last day stalling the bearyena and applying damage to it. She is unable to kill it in the same day it arrived, but hopefully with her spiky body and poison fangs, she will have applied enough damage for it to stay around for not much longer. Meanwhile, the tribe keeps a close eye over Duktavan, making sure the bluebird has no chance to go after him. The next day, Meissi dies to the bearyena. The tribe mourns, but keeps moving. Duktavan is herded into the grass so that he may be camouflaged. Next day. The bearyena is still tracking the tribe, but cannot see Raana or Duktavan in the grass. Before it even knows what hit him, the bearyena is struck down by Raana, the cracker-jawed creature. Duktavan, who is now no longer the bluebird's victim, as the winged creature has left, moves to join his tribe, who are making their way to the northern port of the island. Finally! As the tribe moves forwards, Kokola, who had forgotten about the danger of bearing near coconut trees, gets hit on the head and stunned by one! The tribe laughs at the comedic effect of the situation, but is overall concerned about her wellbeing. Anyways, it seems that Kuvan and Nuro have found the island port! Unfortunately, it looks a bit small. Perhaps a few creatures will be left behind. Also, I forgot to mention, but Kukirku has passed away from old age. I will always love that little pink paw of his. Next day, it's raining and the tribe collects food, despite the fact it stalls their progress. Kokola is still stunned by the coconuts. I hope she doesnt pass away before I get a chance to breed her. The next day, Kokola is free from the grasp of the coconut tree! She huffs, slightly upset at the inconvenience, and moves on. A couple days later, a rogue male breeds with Simeis. She is very upset with this and swears to banish the soon-to-be born kid from the tribe or sacrifice them to the lingering bluebird as soon as they're born if they do not have enough useful traits. Meanwhile, Kokola breeds with Roro, and will have his baby in a couple days. At the port, the tribe has found a couple water healing plants and some nest-material providing water plants. They harvest the nesting material ones, and injured tribemates approach the healing plants. The next day, these two are born. Their names are Issi (cracker jaw) and Anamera (snip-snout). Kokola is disappointed with her child's cracker jaw, and Simeis is disgusted by her child altogether. Anamera has recessive antenna, but the tribe finds this pretty much useless at this point. Not to mention, Anamera has a deformed paw. And that ugly, ugly snout. Simeis destroys her nest and stomps away from her newborn child onto the port. Kokola moves to have some of the water healing plant, and Raana keeps watch over the two children. The next day, Kokola eats the healing plant, but is not fully healed. She and Issi move onto the port with the others, and Raana abandons the other child under Simeis' wish. The tribe then gathers themselves, and moves onto the next island. -Chapter 2 has ended. Now we begin the next.- -Chapter 3: Open Ocean- As the tribe steps onto the new island, the realize that this place is very unnatural. Heads tilt as they eye the area around them. The tribe soon realizes.. this isn't just one island by itself. No, this place has several. Immediatley, two females breed with Roro, the short-snouted one. These two females are Kokola and Simeis. Too late, Simeis realizes the permanent nest she has settled upon is directly below a coconut tree. She can only prey she and her baby aren't affected by a falling coconut. However, the chances are most likely very low. The tribe decides to find breeding pairs, but soon realizes a problem they have: there are only three females (not counting Issi), and four males. Despite the numbers being practically even, a shortage of females is an issue. Also, Raana is somewhat excluded due to every male also having a B immunity gene like hers, and while Nuro, Kuvan, and Issi are immunity-compatible, both Nuro and Kuvan will surely pass away from old age before Issi is fully grown. Next day, Nuku (male cracker jaw) and Sirere (female short-snout) are born. Both mothers are disappointed with the non-poison-fanged outcome. Fortunatley though, Simeis was not strucken by the coconut tree. She instantly moves out of the way. The tribe's ears perk up. A lot of them twitch their ears as the sound of waves splashing against the shore and the distant call of nichelings, or some other creature, can be heard. The tribe wonders to themselves if maybe those distant animal noises could be Adam's old family? Probably not, they reason. Surely finding his old family wouldn't be this easy? The two newborn nicheling's mothers pass away. The next day, two of the male nichelings pass away. Duktuvan is uneasy. He is the only one with poison fangs in the tribe now. Duktuvan, determined to hopefully keep his gene in the tribe, breeds with the only two adult females left in the tribe. They share an immunity (home island, G) but hopefully the babies will not be doubled up. Fortunatley, this wish comes true. The poison-fang gene has been passed on and saved. For now, at least. The poison-fanged child is named Vanta, and the cracker-jaw is Rekoko. (will update later. I'm out of time to play the game again. Hoo.)

  42. How so? In wild, females often eat their dead or sick newborns, or even healthy ones if there's not enough food to sustain them. Chimpanzees kill and consume members of other chimpanzee tribes, allegedly. Rats eat their deceased comrades - this occasionally happens among pets as well. And I'm pretty sure there's ton of other examples, except I can't recall any at the moment and am too lazy to use Google. As I said, I understand if people find this too digusting to let it appear in the game; but, disgusting or not, cannibalism is a normal and natural thing (for some species). Edit - ooh, mantis is quite a cool example as well!
