  1. This is Nunu. He is red brown and beige ( I think Beige). Even though I lost the save file (I found the file!), I had a few screenshots. Took the entire day to complete. (I'm a perfectionist)

  2. Hi everyone! My name is Henry, and I'm really exited to join the Stray fawn community! Yes I'm the guy who suggested the jumping goat for the new update. Thanks for the awesome artwork, Goggles-kun! I have some crazy cool ideas for new niche updates and will love to share them with the community later. I love researching stuff so if you need any help with factual info for niche ideas, look no further. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself.

  3. A desert sand snake would be an interesting predator as it could poison you after attacking. Coconut trees spawning in small oasis's in the middle of the islands could also be a feature. A new gene could perhaps be an armoured jaw, which can collect cactus berries without damage being taken, because what's a classic desert without its cactus? As well as that, a "camel eye" could be added, with long eyelashes to protect from sandstorms, which would occur occasionally and do small damage to baby or teenage nichelings that aren't next to an adult. Sunburn could also be added, when there is heat strokes that last for a few days. If you aren't in a body of water by the second day, you would get a "Dehydrated" effect which would do 1 damage every day until you go into a water source. Those are just some of my random ideas, hope they made sense and you liked them ^-^

  4. The title says it all. No fancy rules for this tribe, I'm just playing for the heck of it I moved the Breaking Dawn Tribe, and then after some scientific research on Deadly Hills and other Deadly Hills saves that were deleted after the Endless Night glitch happened, I decided hey, I wanna go to whale island because I freaking love it Two starters. Both have dominant AND recessive cracker jaw. Fun. I liked the 'last names' that @Lilytuft had in her No Mutations playthrough, so these guys are named Concord Diggingmask and Chicago Velvetstep. (after places i lived) Their first son is named Princeton Diggingstep. Next they have a cute daughter who they name Georgia. Then, they have a son named Oliver. (short snout comes RAGING BAcK) The first of many, MANY stupid rogue males appears. Twin boys named Bernard and Neville are born. Neville and Georgia have opposing immunities, so they have a son named Rokir. Our first bearyena. Unfortunately, a small bit of damage is taken. The child was invited in but we kinda lost track of it so whoops A wandering female is found. Her name is Melais Croakwhisper. She takes Bernard as her mate. Georgia gives borth to Moley, Nimble and Creme. Melais gives birth to little Tanu Croakstep. His face isn't a sight to behold, but he's a charming lad. Georgia dies giving birth to little Fawn, who I love so muchh ;o; This lovely, infertile dude shows up and introduces himself as Barre Soarfeather. (Barre because he's barre-n. im sorry) Tanu gets a baby sister. Her name is Banana. A pretty beaked birb is found. Her name is Koisko Swiftpeck. Rogue males are popping up left and right. This would be an easy peasy island if it wasn't for them... Banana is followed by Pickle and Waffles. EEEEEEeeeeee!!!!!!1!!! This guys pops out of the grasses. His name is Nuvannu Singlewing. Oh noooo Fawn and Rokir have a daughter whom I also love ❤️ If you look you can see Creme being helplessly impregnated by a rogue Nimble gives birth to Tanu's daughter, Reana Diggingcroak. The madness ensues Mr. Singlewing is Single no more. He has fallen in love with Koisko Swiftpeck! The two have a beautiful albino baby boy named Spirit Swiftwing. Also, this thing is born. Moley has her first children, twins named Midnight and Lemon Diggingcroak.

  5. I'll understand if you happen to find this suggestion overly morbid, but since our packs can already devour befriended bearyenas... ..., I'd like to propose the packs should be able to hunt and ingest rogue males and possibly wandering nichelings. Both rogues and wanderers would give the same amount of feedings (7?) and would be able to protect themselves/flee on a level corresponding to their genes. For example, a strong/poisonous/spiky/etc. wandering nicheling could pose a serious threat to the pack (yet somehow I doubt anyone would kill such a promising potential member), while a crippled rogue male could be an easy prey, and a life-saver in case there were little alternative food sources. Neither rogues or wanderers would attack the pack on their own (initiate fights), ever, with the exception of the 'attacks' the rogues already conduct.

  6. So, if any of you guys didn't know, when you right-click Niche on Steam and select "properties", you are allowed to go back to earlier versions of the game. I decided to go back to version 0.2.1., because that was my favorite version of the game. And I'll also be recording my playthrough in this thread, so without further ado... Chapter One: New Beginnings On a newly-formed island in the middle of the ocean, there lived two creatures. They named themselves Adam and Eve, because they apparently were fans of the Bible or something. They both had brilliant white coats, black eyes, and a wonderful will to populate the empty island... as all creatures want to do. So, they set off on their magical dream to have a family and not die! Their first child is one named Rotaro. He's fun, a little smug, but definitely willing to put his family before him. Welcome to the world, Rotaro! A day or so later, Adam and Eve have another child. He looks suspiciously similar to Rotaro, and since I forgot his name, welcome to the world Rotaro II! A short while after Rotaro II was born, Adam noticed something was sprawling around in the bushes. He investigates and finds a cute little wanderer. "What's your name?" He asked. The little wanderer looked at him, and cowered back. Adam offered her five berries, and she reluctantly accepted them. Welcome to the tribe, Ramses! Eve already admires Ramses for her nimble hand, meaning they can get more food at a faster rate. She puts Ramses in a job where she collects berries every day, and was already excited how many berries they were getting. Rotaro, now a young juvenile, took notice of Ramses' excellent collecting abilities and tried to flirt with her. Though Ramses was way older than Rotaro, he savored every second he spent with her. One day, Rotaro decided to invite Ramses to the shorelines. Even though Ramses was older now and had no real interest in those things anymore, she accepted and followed him to the shore. "You're just as beautiful as the seashells in the ocean," he told her as Rotaro felt the waves lap up against his paws. "I know it, because you really are." Ramses felt warm. "That's very nice of you." They looked out into the endless ocean. Rotaro leaned against her shoulder. Though he was still just a kid, Ramses already loved him. The next day, Eve wasn't so sure where her son and slave berry picker had run off to, but didn't think too much about it and had another child. Welcome to the world, Snowfall! Back to Ramses and Rotaro, they secretly agree to run away and raise a family. Since I couldn't think of anything else creative for this scene, here's the picture that goes with it. Secrets aren't secrets forever, and Ramses returns back to the camp pregnant with Rotaro's child. Though Eve was a little horrified at first, she brushed it off and took care of Snowfall. The next day Ramses had a child. Welcome to the world, Meko! Out of nowhere, Eve sees something pop up from the bushes and decides to investigate. She gets closer and is surprised to see a tiny rabbil. Eve chases it around for a little bit, and is surprised to see more rabbils. Eve chases the closest one, and is, instead, surprised to see an unwanted guest instead... TBA!

  7. This is a great idea! First off, I think that a blooming season should exist. Every time it rains in a desert, the ground turns into a carpet of flowers, like this:

  8. oh wow, i didnt think people would immediately draw up animals, thank you so much!! ❤️ it says on google fennec foxes also eat plants, so maybe they would mostly eat dried up berry bushes, and could steal meat if their hunger stat is low? it could be like a walrus deer, but a bit smaller, and if it is attacked its fennec fox side will come out, and attack, but it would only do 2 damage, and then try to run away immediately? it obviously wouldnt be affected as much by sandstorms, since it could have the camel eyelashes. i would say it would give 15 food, 20 maybe? that was just some things off the top of my head. this idea is awesome!

  9. This is a perfect presentation of the mutant camel that I was talking about in my suggestion!

  10. A... Fenmel? Cannec? A combination of a camel and a fennec. Has good heat resistance. When hunted, gives lots of food. Eats both meat and plants. I'm too lazy to do my research rightnow...

  11. Let's see... Meerkats, camel mutant things, coyote, badgers, palm trees that would give shade since there wouldn't be normal trees, I also always liked the idea of dehydration so there would be a gene that would allow a creature to take water from a cactus safely but then there would be an oasis that would have a tree and a small patch of water that your creatures could drink from. But I also just like the idea of dehydration on almost all the islands and you could drink from a river or the ocean, or on a burning Savannah or Desert an oasis.

  12. Hello there! I'm new here! (Hopefully this is how I make a post because I've never done any of this before haha) My name is Nyssa, and I'm an avid Niche fan! I'm fairly new to the game, having only started early 2018, but I love the direction the game is heading in and the current build already. I hope that I can be a part of this awesome community with you all! ^^ I have a bunch of ideas that are mostly weird and probably not at all functional, but I'm still gonna post about them in the features section :b Ok, well, thats me, byeeeee!

  13. @NyssaDerp I love all of these ideas!!! the camel eye and sandstorm is definitely my favourite, that's so creative!! i would think the sunburn wouldnt work for most nichelings because they are protected by fur, but that brought an idea for hairless nichelings to mind! it would be a body type, and it would add +5 heat resistance, but it would make you vunerable to sunburn? idk, thats just an idea that came to mind. the dehydrated thing is awesome, too! a special drinking action could be added. thank you for all the suggestions, i love them all!!! ❤️

  15. I actually prefer the first option. This could be a great way to make the cactus useful. It's always annoyed me that there isn't really any way you can use the cactus without having a certain amount of defense, which Im pretty sure can only be achieved by having the armour body which is only unlockable on snowy islands, the complete opposite of savannah islands. It just really really annoys me because cacti are an important food source for a lot of animals living in dry climates Also, not to be nitpicky or anything, but the pollen is actually the male part of the flowers sex cells. The stuff thats eaten by hummingbirds and the like is called nectar

  17. Unfortunately, rebuilding the game for mobile would basically be a complete rebuild of the code. PC Games aren't very portable to iOS or Android, even before you consider that the UI needs to be not just rebuilt, but also redesigned. The devs have stated that they do not have plans for Niche on mobile, I'm afraid.

  21. I know there's already a suggestion for a chameleon body, but I would like to suggest a different way for it to be used There's a common misconception that chameleon's use their ability to change colour for camouflage - and they do, to a certain extent - but the most they'll do is tweak their natural colouration, which is already very good camouflage, to make it even better. Their colour change is actually used for communication. Males use bright, bold colours to intimidate other males and to attract females, while females use darker colours to let males know they aren't interested This chameleon body wouldn't over ride the colours and patterns determined by a nichelings genetics. Instead, it would give selected nichelings an option over them (like the purr snout) to change colour. Without changing colour, the nicheling would look how their genetics say they should. In terms of stats, they would gain the colour change ability. When males change colour they would display more vivid colours and patterns, which would gain them 1 attractiveness and 1 intimidation, but take away all camouflage. When females change colour they would turn black or dark brown with colourful spots. This would add 2 intimidation, and possibly take away some camouflage too. The intimidation ability would deter males from outside of the tribe, and prevent rogue males from mating with females using the ability. Persnally I prefer this idea. While the other gene sounds cool, it also seems overpowered compared to other genes. This option adds a second gene for attractiveness, which I would really like to see more genes for, and also adds a new way to deal with rogue males assides from attacking them or chasing them away Below are 2 pictures of chameleons using their colour changing ability. The first is a male and the second is a female Here's a link to the other chameleon body suggestion

  22. Thanks, heyitsgeorgie! Also, some desert owls make thier nests in cacti. Maybe you could break open a cactus like a glacier and when you were inside you would be cool?

  23. Hey I was thinking about a Body Type that would overwrite the colors of a creature like Toxic Body does, but instead of standing out with intimidating warning colors, it would help the Nichelings to blend in perfectly with their enviroment: the Chameleon Body A chameleon changes his colors based on what they see to blend in so I suggest the colors would change depending on what biom-tile they are standing on. The pattern would still be the same (a spotted one would still be spotted, a striped striped...) but also change in color depending on the biom. I made a picture for illustration 5 times the same nicheling in different enviroments (I forgot the beach and the water but you hopefully get what I mean) I'd like if the body could be made to look slightly scaly instead of fluffy ^-^ It would give a lot of camouflage but has next to no other benefits, maybe heat resistance +1 or 2 but cold resistance -1 or 2 if anything Let me know what you think

  25. A bearyena attacks. Ilva dies, as does Winoc. This gives Elias some STRONG OPINIONS when he finds that Jeha mated with a friendly bearyena and has a son. Despite his thoughts, Jeha loves her son and names him Albanus. "He looks like just any other nicheling," she states. "How could you judge him for a crime he did not commit?" Albanus grows up to be a regular, calm boy, albeit a bit lonely. He chooses Neeti as his patroness. The tribe is joined by Saso. Saso is a laid-back, lazy female who chooses Neeti as her patroness. Saso and Pulen become mates, and Saso has a son named Zakiriya. Zakiriya is serious and quiet, and chooses Ugila as his patron. Elias dies, and Pulen becomes leader. Jeha is out one day when she sees a bearyena which she thinks is the one she mated with before. However, she is terribly wrong, and the bearyena fatally wounds her; she dies a few days later under care of the tribe. This only solidifies the prejudice against Albanus, and he faces further judgement. Even so, he finds the friendly offspring of the bearyena from before, and he befriends it. "I find you more civil than they," he says to it. Pulen and Saso have another child, named Nicu. Nicu is quiet and naive, and makes her patroness Ohb. Saso and Pulen die soon after, making Zakiriya leader. Though Zakiriya holds the same judgement against Albanus' bloodline as his parents, he is not as severe as they, and Albanus is allowed to get into the social environment of the tribe a bit more. Nicu has a specific interest in him, and they talk a lot. "My brother says you have bad blood," says Nicu quietly. "But I don't see that in you at all. Maybe he should just come to know you better." "If he even lets me get that close," Albanus responds nervously, his claws shifting in the soil below him. Nicu leans on Albanus, putting one paw on him. "If he's driving you off, then he's driving me off too. He can't have a one-man tribe!" The two of them laugh. They are beginning to have affections towards one another. How will Zakiriya react when he finds out?

  26. Hi there. I purchased Niche, though I haven't launched it yet. I saw some gameplays and it looks like a very cool game, so I wanted to say that to the developers. I also read this forum, and I love the fact that @Philo and others are OK showing us the innards of the game (like with those AI posts that I might need to look at more carefully later on) as well as involving the whole community in the improvement of the game. I have always been a highly theoretical player, so I like to see how the game works on the inside. I got a few questions by watching gameplays on Youtube, though. So I'm asking those below. How do mutations work exactly? The label says 50%, but at what point in the process is this factored in? I can see different ways of that working. Like it could replace the baby's genes at birth, or during the mating. And if the later, it becomes something like ABMM x AB? (Where M is the mutation, and A and B are whatever genes are originally on the parent). Or something different? And if there's two mutations in the same slot (vg two different tails), I can't figure that out. (Or potentially FOUR mutations, I guess). Speaking of mutations, what is the point of having things like Hemophilia or No Fertility in the mutation menu? I understand that some people may want to challenge themselves or something, but for "normal" gameplay (far from my intentions trying to tell everyone what is normal), it makes no sense at all. It's not even like Derp Snout, which some people may prefer because of looks... Patterns. How can a pattern be tiny and big, and thin and thick at the same time? Those things are co-dominant, but I can't figure it out. I saw a suggestion of including a nicheling generator, and I would use that to look at patterns and color combinations and the like. I think it's a great idea, but I'm not so sure about the ability of taking them into the game. On one hand you can make very powerful nichelings and kinda "break" the game, but on the other hand what would be the point? so, I thought of adding a suggestion of something like a "creative mode". I have to find the original suggestion again, hehe. And finally for now, crossing water. Watching Jessimew's Adam's Quest gameplay, I saw when crossing islands in the Archipelago, some Nichelings took one drowning damage where others took two, with no water genes involved, so my question is, when moving in the water and you don't have water breathing, what exactly triggers drowning? That's all for now. Thank you in advance.

  27. I don't know but what I do know is when I saw the title I was reminded of how I always have Jessimew or Seri niche videos on for background. But I think in the settings there is a way to turn down the in-game music.

  29. If you cook the meat it is fine as well. I looked it up when the discussion first started. Raw meat is always pretty dangerous for humans, so human meat is no different there. I am pretty sure there were (maybe are) some human cultures that probably practiced cannibalsim. It is just not our moral standard right now

  30. I think that one is a bug. At least I haven't been able to figure it out (while some body types certainly drown at different water hights, I guess you are talking about two normal body Nichelings go into the water and only one takes drowning damage)

  32. If your saying genetically perfect, there is no way for one creature to be the best, strongest, and fastest. It all ends in an equilibrium. Like if you had super strength, you would sacrifice precision and speed. if you were super fast and very presice, you would sacrifice super strength. (It can eventually balance to an equal amount of speed, precision and strength) You're saying cutest, so if we had all combinations of species from niche, then one would top over the others for being the cutest.

  36. Kouraios and Linnie have another child; a female named Veronika. She chooses Icunuse as her patron. Though a bit lazy, she is still cautious when she knows a situation is dire. Soon after, Kouraios and Linnie have another child; Aphrodisios. He chooses Kourai as his patroness. Kouraios realizes that both Ohb and Ugila do not have any devotees, so she decides to have another child with Linnie and prays that her child will be a good follower and help balance out the gods. She has Jacobina, who thankfully becomes a devotee of Ugila. She is quiet and not very social, but is hardy and never complains. Linnie and Kouraios die off, leaving their four children to decide who leads. They think that Jacobina is the most capable and youngest, so they decide that upon her maturity she will be made leader. Alone in the tall grass, Veronika finds Sterre, an adolescent with no clan to help her. She invites her into the tribe, and she quickly takes on Ugila as her patron, since he granted her wish of wanting to be part of a tribe. Soon, Sterre falls in love with Aphrodisios, and they have a child. Her name is Erlea, and she makes Icunuse her patron. She is bold and relaxed. Shortly after the birth of Erlea, a bearyena attacks the clan! The clan manages to defeat it, but unfortunately, Veronika is killed in the battle.

  37. Will I make it 3: Seesh it's like they want us to have their children Got it... huh... Well I also got this vibrant red female with poison fangs, I bred her with my toughest fighter (Without derpsnout because that would over ride poison fangs) Also I am creating 2 more Gods, Vanduk and Flame, two brothers Gods of Travel, Loyalty and Exploration. I'm sorry I didn't put there story up here but I shall tell you. They were brothers who stepped into the savanna and then kept wandering and finding food for the tribe. They never did fight any bearyenas but they fought famine. They always helped eachother. because of their amazing loyalty and kindness the gods granted them more mortal days. they used these to go of the port to the hard island to continue their own story. (they actually died but their bones kinda blend in to the bones on the port so yeahhh...)

  38. That usually happened when cactus somehow landed on the traveling ports and the Nicheling would then glitch into it when you arrived on the new island. usually you could get the Nicheling free without destroying the cactus, except when it was still a child, then you either had to wait or destroy the cactus ^^

  41. Muddywater leaves with Rubystar and his newfound mate at the end of the gathering. He cautiously steps onto Rubyclan territory. He's seen it from across the river a thousand times, but it feels different when you're standing right in the middle of it. Pouncespring, a naive and timid she-cat, joins Sapphireclan. Muddywater and Littlefinch soon have a kit of their own after settling down together in Rubyclan. They have Swiffttorn. He's rather serious and strange, but is very lonely on the inside. Fishstar moves to her third life, and Rubystar to his fifth. Littlefinch and Muddywater have another son, who they name Mudkestrel due to his likeness to his father. He is a hardy and obedient cat, but can be rather lonely. This bonds him closely to his brother. He has +1 Special Defense and -1 Defense.

  42. Perchmoon and Fishstar have another kit; Heavystream. He's calm, quiet and lax. Rubystar is on his fourth life, and Fishstar is on her second. She has one more kit with Perchmoon before he dies; Muddywater. He is quirky, calm, and quiet. He has +1 special attack and special defense and -1 attack and speed. Thistlecypress joins Rubyclan. She is Calm and mild, but sassy. She has +2 special defense and +1 special attack, and -1 in other categories. Thistlecypress becomes the mate of Rubystar. They have Littlefinch, a she-cat. Littlefinch is quick-witted, not to mention sassy and a spitfire. She has Special Defense +1 and Special attack -1. Stingjuniper, a jokester tom, joins Sapphireclan. The next gathering approaches. It's been moons since there was a gathering- hardship caused one to be skipped- but everyone is excited. However, Rubystar sees a familiar occurence that fills him with dread. Just across the stream, Sapphireclan is attacked while they prepare for the gathering! Unwilling to witness another tragedy befall his neighbouring clan at the claws of a predator, Rubystar takes Littlefinch with him across the river, onto Sapphire territory, to fight alongside them. The bearyena is defeated, causing little damage thanks to the help of Rubyclan. "You have saved us by coming to our aid," says Fishstar. "Please, stay the night in our territory. You are welcome to stay amongst us for the gathering." Rubystar and Littlefinch settle down amongst their neighbouring warriors. Rubystar and Fishstar come to know each other as fellow leaders, and Rubystar tells stories of when he knew Fishstar's predecessor, Cloverstar. Littlefinch, meanwhile, is becoming an object of interest to Fishstar's son, Muddywater. "So, do you have a mate?" Asks Muddywater, flicking his tail. "Nope. Just me and my dad in Rubyclan right now." This gets Muddywater thinking. He slips away from Littlefinch for a moment and approaches his mother, Fishstar. "Mom, I want to ask you something. Just don't judge me..." "If you're asking me something, I sort of have to be the judge, don't I?" "Would you give me your blessing if I were to go for that pretty Ruby she-cat? She helped us, after all, and it's only her and her father in Rubyclan. I wouldn't be far away..." "I will have to consult Rubystar." To Muddywater's horror, Fishstar blurts it out immediately, in front of everyone. "Hey, Rubystar! Is your daughter on the market for a mate?" She nods her head towards Muddywater. "Muddywater here has quite the interest in her. I'd be willing to let him move into your clan." "I don't see why not," Rubystar says. :"However, the real decision-maker in this is Littlefinch." Littlefinch gets up and stares Muddywater dead in the eye before trotting over to him. He braces himself for a claw to the face. But instead, Littlefinch sits beside him. "Why didn't you say so earlier?"

  44. The clans arrive on the new island. Welcome to peaceful meadow. Pikestar and Cloverstar now have the responsibility of distributing the island's territory between the two clans. "We want the Western half," declares Cloverstar firmly. "Perfect, then we will take the east," announces Pikestar. Both Ruby and Sapphire are settling in nicely. However, as Curlcoat begins to get used to life as a Sapphire cat, he realizes that he has developed feelings for his leader, Cloverstar. This inspires a deep anxiety in Curlcoat- what if Cloverstar doesn't return the feelings? Will he be banished? Will he have to go back to Rubyclan? Curlcoat decides that there's only one way to find out. "Cloverstar," calls Curlcoat. Cloverstar's ears perk up, towards Curlcoat. "Yes, Curlcoat?" "I was wondering, since it's just us in the clan.. Have you ever had a mate?" The she cat's eyes move slowly and calmly to his, and she gazes at him as if she has read his mind. "No, Curlcoat. I'm supposing that you wish to be my mate?" "Yes, but... If not, I understa-" "I knew you weren't just interested in my sense of direction when you joined this clan," says Cloverstar. "But that's alright. And yes, I will be your mate." Not long after the island is reached, a new she-cat named Eelbeach enters Sapphire. She is serious and rather tough, yet has a hidden timid side. She has +1 Speed and -1 Attack. Cloverstar has a kit with Curlcoat. His name is Yarrowhail. He's brave and refuses to let any fear show, but when he knows he's off his warrior duties he's very lax. He has +2 Attack and +1 Defense, but a -1 in Speed, Special Attack, and Special Defense. Cloverstar then moves on to her fourth life. Pikestar dies in his sleep peacefully, and Poppyhaven, now Poppystar, takes over Rubyclan for him. Poppystar befriends Rubyfang, He is bold, quirky, and likes to trick others. Poppystar has a dream that Rubyfang is destined to be Rubyclan's next leader. Rubyfang takes over, becoming Graystar because i forgot to revive Poppystar with his age meter. He becomes Rubystar. Conveniently, the next gathering is here. Rubystar introduces himself to Sapphireclan. Rubystar feels jealous as he sees Sapphireclan all together. At least he soon finds Cloudshine. Cloudshine keeps up a facade of seeming independent and bold, but in reality she is rather lonely.
