Soooo @NyssaDerp made a tribe where everybody can help. Then I thought... what if we made a tribe where people would take turns playing it? So, here we are! How it works: I start the tribe and play until Adam dies While playing through Adam's life, I document what happens to the tribe here Once Adam dies, I immediately share the savefile (preferably before using up any moves) (I'll try and have one or more babies be born the same day Adam dies) Another person decides they want to be the one to continue playing the tribe. They will reply here first, before opening up the savefile and choosing one of the most recent children born to be their patriarch/matriarch. The person will play through the patriarch/matriarch's life, documenting what happens during their 'reign'. The person will try their best to have several children born before their patriarch/matriarch dies. Once that creature dies, the person will stop playing and share the played savefile. The cycle will repeat from steps 4-8! The tribe will go on and on until (hopefully) the tribe gets to Home Island. You do not have to continue doing anything that the person before you tried to achieve if you don't want to. If nobody keeps playing, I'll try and help too. Notes: If no creatures have been born recently when another person picks up the save, they are allowed to try and breed a new creature as soon as they start playing. Please, PLEASE don't get mad if someone trashes whatever you'd been doing when they continue the cycle. When a person picks their patriarch/matriarch, the creature must be no older than a teen. ALSO: FAMILY TREEEE! Please update it as you play Got it? Now, let me get started! Introducing: Adam! After growing up, Adam finally finds his mate: Eve! oh, goodie. Our first glitch! There seems to be a tile that we can't step on. I remember playing on Story mode and getting this glitch on this second island. The furst baby! But he's shortsighted Off to a new land! Welcome, Peaches! You're shortsighted too (i put Eyes in Adam and Eve's mutation menus!) Why, hello! You shall be renamed Kira! Kira and Eve both have Adam's children. (Peter+Pan=Petan) (Tiger+Lily=Tigrily) It is Adam's final day, and Kira and Eve sit on their nests, expecting their children. finally, the day passes, and Adam is no more. however, his mates conceive his children. So, the new Patriarch/Matriarch of the tribe must either be Petan, Tigrily, Kokonut, or Jonas. Here's the savefile!: Slot4.nichesave6 points

I guess if we're posting them now, I'll post mine too, now that I'm home. @Goggles-kun I got you and Pacific, I hope you like them! (I've also included a wip picture from before I added the details, because eh) For some reason I always picture water bodied creatures as being super buff in the chest so that's how he ended up Thanks to @Skysplash8 for coming up with this idea, it was a lot of fun! And thanks to @Pokestardragacraft for helping out. (side note: if you're cool with giving a random on the internet your address, I can ship the actual painting itself to you, if you would like6 points

i would think it allows your nicheling to go longer without drinking? say for normal nichelings every 5 days you become dehydrated, humped nichelings could go for 10 days without becoming dehydrated. maybe you unlock it by drinking 35 times? but that would mean you would have to make the drinking action for only when nichelings are dehydrated. thats just some ideas oooh this is cool too! maybe your nicheling only has to eat food once every 3 days? if it had that and the longer time without drinking, i think it would have to go to drinking 50 times when dehydrated to unlock tho. also, i think thats enough camel genes for now 😅. nearly every gene is based around camels now! maybe we could focus more on other desert animals, like snakes and lizards? maybe there could be a rattlesnake tail? or a new head with the frills on the head of a lizard? or maybe new horns like the horned lizard?4 points

So, i've had this idea, and I wanted to share it with some other people. So, you set the lifespan from baby to teen to one day (if this is possible). If you start on an easy island, you set the adult-lifespan either on four or eight days. With the harder islands, you just go up one day. This would lead to a way faster and harder gameplay. Please tell me what you think. Also, if someone else has already had this idea or if I posted this at the wrong place, please tell me.4 points

I was thinking maybe the hump body prevents you from starving for several days. You would automatically technically take the starving damage first, but you wouldn’t starve!4 points
-
I was thinking Humped Body gene would give "Hydration Resistance". (This would be a yes/no ability, like with Poison). Problem is, it's too specific. What do humps get you when you finally leave the desert?4 points

UUnicorns might not be real, but there are some animals with single horns on their head. A prehistoric genus of rhino, Elasmotherium, had a horn on its forehead. There are also a few artiodactyls, especially goats, that have been seen with horn or antler mutations that resemble the unicorns horn. While the mutations may not be standard in any extant species, they do show that it is more than possible for animals to have single horns or antlers on their forehead The first picture is a fossil of an Elasmotherium simum (the type species of the genus). The horn isn't there, but you can see a bump where it would have been just above the eye socket. The next pictures both show an animal with a mutated horn/antler. The first is a bull that was found in Brazil, the second is a young roe deer buck from Italy. You can also find a good few photos of goats with one horn on google4 points

Just a small thing, but wouldn't it make more sense for the spiky body to add defense instead of strength? Animals that have quills or otherwise spiky bodies use their spikiness as a form of defense, not as a weapon Pictured below, from top to bottom, is a hedgehog, a porcupine, a thorny devil, a puffer fish and some sea urchins, all animals that use spikiness as a defense mechanism3 points

so ive wanted to make a suggestion for a long time, but i could never think of what to suggest, then i had an idea. in the very early version of the game, i vaguely remember there being a desert and savannah biome. even if im just making it up that there was once a desert biome, which i may be but i cant remember, i still want a desert biome now that i thought of it once existing. for what i have thought of, it would be alot like the mountains, meaning the islands would be huge, but it would also have no grass (maybe with a few islands having surrounding savannah). there would have to be new predators, new genes, new prey, and lots of new plants and a few new trees. now i could just come up with all of these myself, but i thought: why not first see what people would want from a desert biome? i could ask what genes, plants, animals ect. people would want the most, and then i would develop the ideas into something that would work well together, turn it into a long and detailed suggestion on the feature requests and boom! a desert biome made by the whole community, so nearly everyone would have something they would want in there. and thats exactly what im doing. obviously yes, implementing an entire biome with new genes and animals would be impossible for the devs to do alongside a normal community update, but maaaybe if it gets enough votes, it could become a seperate update entirely a few years down the road. so heres exactly what im asking for all the people who want to help me: reply to this topic with any ideas you want for the desert biome: predators, prey, genes, plants, you name it. it can be as complicated as a whole predator with stats and behaviours and design, or as simple as the name of an animal i could mix with another animal to make a species for the island. anything will help, and eventually after a few months, i will gather the auggestions, turn them into a cohesive idea, and post a detailed suggestion on the feature request list. go wild! start posting. i want this desert biome idea to have as many people's ideas included as possible (also yes, i know ive been talking like an overexcited advert narrator for this post, but the inner persuasive writer in me came out whilst writing this. finally, a use for all that persuasive writing lessons ive had 😂)3 points

Heyooooo! I'm going to start a new Niche playthrough and I thought why not let other fans help? Any time something happens, a new baby with cool patterns is born, a dilemma such as food shortage, or when half the tribe gets wiped out because of a common cold. I suppose you could call this a log of my crazy Niche adventures! I'm going to let everyone choose names and which islands to go to next, whether I should banish that weird-looking red and yellow spotted derp snout over there, and sometimes even which genes I should try and mutate in when I can't decide. The starting island will be the Grass Adventure (easy island). i think thats what its called lol I really hope this turns out to be an epic saga of nichelings and lore, and something everyone can be included in! 🤗 Starter Nichelings: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE TIME HAS COME! The tribe is moving, and it's up to you to decide where they go! The peaceful flowering blossoms, a blazing savanna ridden with the thought of death and decay, or the mysterious blue tiles? Lilac and Ginger's first baby is SO CUTE! Any ideas on names? Two babies later and a wandering albino female comes into the tribe! Sadly she is sick and I did a dumb-dumb and now most of the tribe is half dead, as she infected them while on her deathbed. Oh, and then another beautiful wandering nicheling appears… What should I name her?3 points

Hmm... Maybe breaking open a cactus would deal a few days of damage, but performing a "remove thorns" action with the camel head would mean it would not cause any damage? Of course there would still be a 20% chance of taking damage whilst removing the thorns, though. And about the camel thing: that's good, because I was worried the hump body could be overpowered. That would make it more balanced if it only meant you didn't need as much food!3 points
-
In real life I believe that it is a myth that camel humps store water. But they in fact are full of fat that is used when needed.3 points
-
Hey everyone! I think that yes, you would need 3+ strength to open a cactus, but also some defense to protect from damage. But camels pull the spines off of cacti, so maybe the camel snout would allow the break cactus ability? Also, camels store fat in their humps, not water. That's a myth. Maybe dehydration in unique to the desert, and no sweat body gives dyhidration resistance? Just my opinion.3 points

oh my god i love this!! it could be like a really big cactus you can sit inside, and it could be like the hot spring of the desert, and you can nest in it! but you would need 3+ strength to break it?3 points
-
Or in reverse, you could make Adam have a super long lifespan and then try to get him to Home Island before he dies XD3 points

Actually, in real life, a cat's purr can actually help heal wounds. Anyways, I personally think that, well, all the genes in Niche are at least mostly based on real life features of animals. Unicorns aren't real... Now, I would love a Narwhal Horn. Except it's a tooth. So Narwhal Tooth? It could give 2 strength! so drawing this and making a feature request3 points

oh wow, i didnt think people would immediately draw up animals, thank you so much!! ❤️ it says on google fennec foxes also eat plants, so maybe they would mostly eat dried up berry bushes, and could steal meat if their hunger stat is low? it could be like a walrus deer, but a bit smaller, and if it is attacked its fennec fox side will come out, and attack, but it would only do 2 damage, and then try to run away immediately? it obviously wouldnt be affected as much by sandstorms, since it could have the camel eyelashes. i would say it would give 15 food, 20 maybe? that was just some things off the top of my head. this idea is awesome!3 points

STORMY! In a move shocking the rest of her tribe, Gumdrop declines to become the next matriarch, preferring instead a quiet life with her beloved Loche. She passed the leadership role to her cousin Stormy and tribe size goes up to 17! YAY lots of BEBES! Loche and Gumdrop decide to start a family. Loche is given medium tail from the Whims and Yellow fur from me. Gumdrop is given Black Horn color from the Whims and Purple Eyes from me. Baby Dandeelion has been born! With Big body and Nimble Fingers like her father. Time to try for another baby, preferably a boy to mate with Stormy. Sooo Gumdrop had another girl. This one with lighter fur than her sister and Green eyes that I dont know where came from. She is named Sunny. Spiria has had a son. He is very light grey with nimble fingers. Not sure about breeding him with Stormy, too closely related. Might be a mate for Dandeelion and Sunni though. Another girl! This one with moms face and everything else is dad. She is named Mimi. Trying again. Need boys!3 points

I edited the family tree! (I made Kirvanta and Nuvanta "ex-partners" of Amanita because they were both wanderers without children or had a mate that was a wanderer)2 points

I don't like Derp Snout, Webbed Hindlegs, Webbed Paw (my annini's Gifts tribe has been cursed with it in their mutation menus about 4 times so far ), Bearyena Hindlegs (except when the creature has two wings), the obvious Deformed Paw, Digging Trunk, and mammoth Foot. I don't know why so many people hate Gills-- in my opinion, the creatures will Gills are always so cute!2 points

Female nichelings could use their wooly coats to build temporary nests! It would cover 5/10 points (the remaining 5 would still be twigs of grass) and the female would lose 1 cold resistance point; she would regain it obce her fur'd grow back - in 3 days.2 points

I think you should go to the blue tiles. I think it's either a Whale Island or a Snow Island.2 points

I don't mind water body but I get what you mean though. Oh yeah the webbed paw isn't great either (and in my opinion almost as useful as crippled paw)2 points

I also have a steam account, but I find it easier to screenshot the photos and then upload them there. And, you can still integrate your steam account after joining. Go to settings, and I think it’s under “integration”. Hope this helps!2 points

Asides from possibly being magical, I don't see anything unrealistic about it. As @heyitsgeorgie said, we already have the purr snout which can heal nicheings, so why not? I would only give it 1 strength though, theres no reason for it to be stronger than other horns or antlers, and if it's also going to have magical powers as well that's maybe a bit overpowered. I also wouldn't add attractiveness. While humans might think it's awesome because who doesn't love unicorns, it wouldn't really be any more attractive than other horns or antlers to nichelings2 points

Finally a way of defending agains those spiky rogue males! (Yesterday I had one breading with two of my females 😾)2 points

oooh! nice idea! so every time it rains (maybe every 10-15 days? or longer?) a lot of flowers could blossom, and they would be around for maybe 3 days? some other new animal could eat them, or it could just be cosmetic. there could be new desert flowers, like the image you showed, or they could use the port flowers for convenience. nice idea!2 points

Aesthetically, i never liked beak, water body or gills. I prefer my nichelings to keep their "mammal" feel. I do like platypus, though. Webbed paws are also annoying.2 points

I think what they mean is this: Nicheling A has a bearyena claw, and snout. A finds an aggressive bearyena and is allowed to breed with it, god only knows why, and it makes more hybrid parts? I assume this is what they mean.2 points
