  1. @ArtisticToad Currently, there is no option for pregnancy duration. But I agree that we have to consider it.

SkinnySlate eventually found a derpy and buff wandering boyfriend named Ironstone and they even had a kid together ❤️

  5. Razulia! (i was digging through my screenshots trying to find my old derpsnout Teal but I found this derpsnout creature instead but most of her body was covered so i spent an hour trying to reincarnate her on a copy of my main save and now this creature looks almost exactly like the original)

  6. Kind of. The adopted one never really got near a non-pregnant female, so I don't consider him one for roleplaying purposes only. The theme seems to be the more roleplay like 'no one was born bad so show them kindness once a year'. In reality, is it better to attempt to reform, or just punish? What if the first is more effective, making them less likely to? Is it not moral to want to reduce overall suffering? Still, I don't know if nichelings pair bond at all or just mate with everything. Certainly, the player forces matches on them all the time. How is that not allowing rape? How do you judge rape if nichelings have no thoughts, feelings or preferences? That's my main issue with rogue males, that there is just no framework to evaluate their actions in. Maybe they're like cats, sometimes chosing really, really ugly and sick mates. Maybe they are raping ducks on crack. How would we know? How do you judge rape in a framework with no concept of consent? Further, since the other options are murder, castration (I'm pretty sure that's against human rights) and switching their gender (welcome, gender disphoria?) there just is no good option. Yet, the game needs that sort of challenge. I'm pretty sure the random mutation branch (bad ones included) could have fixed the moral issue, but it made the game so bad, many considered it unplayable. Rogue males or no rogue males, whether present or not, they're about the most annoying thing about this game. I'd love them removed. Yet, the only replacement is adding random bad mutations. No idea if people would like that, judging by the failed first attempt. Maybe a possible off-switch would help all parties at least a little. Low effort, story tribes don't need the challenge and parents could remove it for less dubious content.

  7. hm. I want to submit my goddess of bravery (who went from bluebird food the bird didn't eat to killing three bearyneas) but she is literally a red derpsnout with 2 no paws and normal tail, so she wouldn't win for beauty. but I love her so I'm gonna enter her when I get on my computer cause I'm on my phone rn ok im not submitting her because 1) I never saved a family tree photo so I forgot her name 2) I actually want to win so im gonna start a tribe to try and breed a good submission that is all for now

  8. I can't stand them, but I once adopted this guy in a no mutations challenge. Pretty cute. I think I found his long lost baby brother, too. That tribe had really rare starters . Anyway, mom was really old and dad somewhere else, so he helped raise the two, always near. He propably empathized with the younger, both being the worse child and unable to gather much. Since the red guy was about to drop dead, he always stayed near the rogue, while his brother founded a purr fish line.

  14. Wolves do actually fish, but they use their mouth instead of their paws. I'm fairly sure sheep don't fish tho The normal claw seems to be based off of ambush preds like big cats who's paws are well designed for attacking prey and fishing. The wolf, being a pursuit pred, has paws adapted for speed rather than strength. I assume the claws are used for grip, like the studs on football boots, because they're useless when it comes to attack. Because wolves cant turn their paws like big cats can, the most they can do is bat at their preys hindlegs during a chase, which could do some damage, but doesn't really serve much purpose other than slowing the prey down a wee bit. Skill wise, a wolf's paw would basically function the same as the runner leg As I said above, a wolf's paw is useless for attack or fishing and would basically be the same as the runner leg I like the idea, but I don't think it should automatically kick the attacker. It makes sense for the spiky body to defend the nicheling whether it's out of turns or not; it takes no energy for spikes to defend a creature, because the spikes are always there. On the other hand, the nicheling would need energy to kick an attacker, and it wouldn't have any energy if all its turns have been used up. I would personally change this to strength, because it doesn't really make much sense to me to have it as an automatic sort of defense like the spiky body I would change the speed to an extra cold resistance. Balance doesn't affect speed. The wolf is fast and their tail does help them run without losing their balance, but if you were to take away the tail the wolf wouldn't be any slower. Likewise, if you were to stick a wolf's tail on a sloth, the sloth would still be as slow as it was before Ooft this is a pretty long comment I like this idea, upvoted

  17. I have a three full blown OC clans: MeadowClan, DeepClan and GrasslandClan (the translations are not the best in german it's: AuenClan, TiefenClan und WiesenClan). My main OC lives in MeadowClan, her name is Bloodstar and she is the leader. My sister and I did the three clans and roleplayed with them every time we went up to the forest to walk the dog. One day I decided I have put so much work into them I want to make them a book and I am currently working on that (planning it to be a trilogy) I have read almost all Warriors Books so far apart from a few novellas that are only available as e-books (I don't like e-books but I am planning on getting them eventually) I am really dreading the new season coming up in april because of the ominous title 'The broken code'

And whoever survived the longest wins! The rules are simple: No travelling to islands No console So, here are the forms: Player 1: @Skysplash8 Island: First Snow Player 2: Heyitsgeorgie Island: Sleepy Reeds Player 3: Jutzi.sophie Island: Rainforest Player 4: Larouxxiaa Island: Long Winter Player 5: Kitten Island: Oasis Player 6: Lilytuft Island: Burning Savanna Player 7: Magpie Island: Summer Mountains Player 8: bannergirl411 Island: Deep Jungle Survived until: Day 27 Player 9: Aetherskye Island: Deadly Hills Player 10: Jojo Island: Frost Lands Survived until: Day 21 Player 11: RandomWanderer Island: Summer Mountains Player 12: Bostonlobstah Island: Summer Mountains or Burning Savanna Player 13: Kepa-Shanyang Island: Deadly Hills Player 14: Medicine cat Island: Overgrown Jungle Player 15: @ValkyrieWolff Island: Long Winter Survived until: Day 16 Player 16: AMEcco Island: Swampy Hill Player 17: Meridethheck Island: Overgrown Jungle Player 18: @Kwainie Island: Frost Lands All you have to do is say I want to join and I'll add you to the list. 23. New playthrough! Here's the rules: - The tribe functions like a monarchy. The oldest child of the current king or queen is the heir, and takes over once the king or queen dies. - If you are a king, queen, or heir, you are an alpha. If you are child of the king/queen/heir you are a beta. If you are not directly related to an heir you are an omega. - If the ruler dies before having children, the closest related capable nicheling will take their place. Our kingdom starts off with King Flame. Originally called Lizardface, King Flame left his tribe to become something more than what they all said he'd be- a nobody. Admittedly he is quirky, but he is still very clever. Now, flame would be alone if it weren't for his trusty queen, Haunt. Haunt has sass to whatever she says, but she is not arrogant- she just likes to cause a laugh. The first child of Flame and Haunt is Darkul. Humble, chivalrous, and brave, Darkul is a great candidate for heir. It is decided that Darkul should not grow up alone, so Flame and Haunt have another child- a sweet but strange girl by the name of Bibi. When the two of them grow up, Flame announces that the clan will be leaving for the next island. Though scared, the family braces themselves and dives headfirst into the future. How will it go?

  26. I've been playing for a couple days since buying Niche for the steam sale and been having an absolute blast. Recently got to Archipelago (pretty sure thats what the island is called) and had a fun idea for an unlockable trait which I was surprised to find has not been suggested yet. Grapple jaw: If your nicheling is adjacent to a creature it can attack and has this jaw type, it can 'grapple' that creature and during its next move will pull that creature with it. Depending on the nicheling's body size and the creature's body size, the distance your nicheling can drag it gets restricted. My first thought for the use of this is killing bearyenas by drowning them, but I'm sure there's many other creative uses to be found!

  27. To progress to harder islands, just keep going north. Most islands have 3 ports. The west port takes you to an easier island. The north one takes you to harder ones. And the east one takes you to islands the same difficulty. If there's no north port, just go east until you get to an island with a north port.

  30. From the "Crocodile" and "Shark", this is a lazy predator that will stay either on the beach or in the water [sometimes in swamps] and wait until prey gets too close before striking. Think of it as a creature version of the Carnivorous Plants. They stay underwater close to the shore, waiting for nichelings, bunnels, and fish to get too close so they can eat them. Females are the only ones found on the beach, and they will have a baby on the beach next to them you can tame once the mother is dead. The tamed male will wander into the water and proceed to have the same behavior as all males, but won't attack your nichelings. This does however mean that in order to breed with one you'll have to do a little swimming. For breeding, you can get these stats: Crark Jaws: +2 strength, +1 smelling, +1 underwater breathing [a crocky mouth with a sharky head shape] Inner Ears: +2 hearing [Looks like there are no ears] Crark Body: +2 defense, +1 swimming, +1 underwater breathing Crark Legs: +1 strength, +1 defense, +1 swimming Crark Hind Legs: +1 strength, +1 defense, +1 swimming Tailfin Beige Fur, no pattern This doesn't have to be a thing, but I think it would be cool if it was: Crarks [and nichelings with Crark Jaws] could be able to 'hold' a nicheling at the same time as attacking, which makes them unable to move but still able to attack. So, in other words, you use one turn to attack, and when you attack, your target is then held.

  31. There are a few complaints about not being able to move on land, which I completely agree with. I also think having 2 genes that both add underwater breathing is unnecessary, and 4 defense is also a bit much so I was thinking that the legs and hindlegs could both lose their defense stats and gain 1 speed instead and the body could lose its underwater breathing (the gills look like theyre on the head but correct me if I'm wrong) and add 1 defense instead. That way a full hybrid would still have high defense and be able to breath underwater, plus it would be able to move a little on land Id be really curious to see how the stubby wee legs would be added, would they maybe need to be made the same sort of size as other legs? Theyd need to do something to make them fit onto nichelings, unless they were to just sort of float mid air I love this idea, upvoted

  33. I agree on the front of if, for roleplay purposes, the rogue male did nothing wrong and lived a happy life so therefore he is not looked down upon, but just in general rogue males are, in their simplest form, nicheling rapists, and people saying they do not deserve to be seen as bad makes me really annoyed. the thing with you forcing nichelings to mate is an interesting argument, though. my say is that most people roleplay their nichelings growing to love eachother, but if a match is forced for the purposes of survival, im ok with that because its not plainly "a nicheling just raped one of your nichelings" and it is a clickable option you trigger, so technically it isn't one nicheling deciding to rape the other. that isn't even my point, I dont even mind rogue males existing, I just dont like the way some people treat them nicely. if a specific rogue male never breeds with your nichelings and lives a happy life, maybe even having a female breed with it if they become close, im ok with that because that specific rogue male is not a rapist in your tribe and did not rape anyone; what I dislike is rogue males in general being seen as fine, because that is saying rapists are ok, which they are not. not in any way, shape or form is rape ok. now some people may say, for example, a rogue male isn't raping your females and just seducing them and then mating with them, but that makes no sense. your female can be attacking the rogue male, but still, he makes her pregnant. it is 100% rape, to clear that up. what I think might be happening is that it is not actually stated "rouge males= rapists" anywhere, and children are not aware of what rape actually is, and that is what rogue males do, or maybe children have never learnt about rape at all, so they think this is ok and say they are fine. there are, to me, two solutions: -remove rogue males. it would remove a large challenge of the game, and balancing may need to be done, but removing them entirely would be a quick fix. however, people would still remember them, so the problem hasn't been completely solved. -add a notification when the game starts. something along the lines of "note: animals will appear in this game called rogue males, and they are nicheling rapists with bad genes, made to further challenge the player. if you are unaware of what rape is, ask your parents now, and they can tell you or disable them in the settings menu." and add a way to disable them. I think this is the best way to handle rouge males. I do love this game, but the rogue males are one of the few things I dislike about this game. you can tell the devs (who I absolutely love and have made my favourite game of all time) have implemented rogue males not considering their demographic, and avoided explicitly using the word "rape" to avoid complications, leading to a community with some people who think creatures, that are rapists, are ok. in my eyes that is kind of immature and I hope it is fixed.

  34. I have four clans, Hollyclan, Hawkclan, Slateclan, and Willowclan. There is another clan that has been lost, Ashclan. They are named a little bit weirdly since they were named after the founding cats. I have five main ocs, Brokenflame, Shadowscar, Stormwhisker, Bluebreeze, and Berrymist. I'm currently working on a story, but It's going to be more like a couple Super Additions put together.

  45. I'm not entirely convinced by it, I never am about this sort of thing. How exactly is the mother's diet supposed to affect the baby's sex? While it seems like stuff and nonsense, I think having a special food would work much better than a gene, which could become problematic if too many of your nichelings end up with it. Perhaps it could work like the healing plant, only it would be harder to come across. It would only have an affect on a pregnant nicheling, like the healing plant only has an effect on injured nichelings, and would give a boost towards the baby being one gender. It would only affect the female for one pregnancy, and the fruit would take a while to grow back. I'm still not really into the idea of having a way to influence a babies gender, which really should just be pot luck. Niche isa game all about genetics, and while some of the genes might not be realistic, I still think the basic genetics and inheritance and that should be kept as realistic as possible. I would definitely prefer to see a special food than a new gene though, at least that would be based on something. Even if it is a whole load of rubbish, at least there's a possibility there, and I mean we can have the purr snout with its magical healing abilities so I guess that's equally as unrealistic

  46. Okay, so. I always forget to take screenshots when we move islands.. and guess what? I DID IT AGAIN. I'm not gonna take a picture of it because (I'm lazy) there's really nothing to see because it's a Burning Savannah, so it's just grass and trees. Though there is a Whale Island port the tribe is heading towards. So, first, here's Beaky Nightmare's twins. I'm trying to hold off on babies until we can get closer to the port (we're making a run for it, since everybody gets too hot). My seven year old cousin named them Frank and Frankie, because she has a dog named Frankie. Beaky Nightmare had a son named Barley, and on her last day, she had another son named Root Beer With a Lemon (he's brown with a tiny bit of yellow, which is interesting because the brown is the pattern). The tribe keeps moving toward the Whale Island port. A lean-bodied, big-eared, purr-snouted teen is found and taken in. She is named Savannah, due to her being found in the Burning Savannah (which never burned). Everyone FINALLY gets to the ports, with Golden Gurl and Strong Platypus' child being pushed out of the nest onto the port so that he, too, may come. Also, Savannah can go SIX tiles in one turn! She can also only collect berries and purr. SO they get a whale. Black With Yellow has Very Spotty's twins on her final day. Amused Grass is the closest and names them Not Unique and Kinda Unique (look, mom! I'm not good at naming anymore!). Meanwhile, Savannah finds a tree stump and calls out a couple times and ASDFGH WING WAIT SHE'S SICK NO Okay so then i played for a while and I don't remember exactly what happened but Mud and Wingy Wing Wing had a few children. Amused Grass had a couple children with Frankie before she died. Look at their names I'm so creative also we have three females and one of them i'm not gonna breed because I want to take the tribe to a snow island and Savannah has hot weather genes. Wingy Wing Wing and Mud had a Birdie child Apparently this whale likes sick females with one wing (I didn't even call for her) FINALLY now, remember how this tribe is really strong and kills anything they don't want? Well, Wingy Wing Wing was done breeding, and we have a lot of creatures, soo.. R.I.P. ANYWAYS I forgot to take pictures (again) but we're movin to the next island! The toxic body guy is really cool but he won't survive in a cold biome, nor will Savannah. The cracker jawed guy is old, and the orange guy just couldn't make and the tribe can't afford to wait for him. Sorry, Pheonix. OOOH you're gonna be god of abandonment because you got abandoned by your tribe. Bye bye, whalie! Off we go! Welcome to LEECHY LAND THANK GOODNESS IT'S A GIRL! Also I haven't been paying attention if Home Island Immunity (HII for short) was being passed on, but it's good to know it's still here. Well... good thing I bred Sunflower Seed! Pheonix has already taken out revenge by having his reincarnation summon a Bearyena.. Here it goes.. YES A FEMALE WITH ARMORED BODY To be continued

  47. I like that you can create you own weapons, but I would like to see that feature more expanded, and not just to weapons. - Parts would have a base which can be chosen, bigger sizes give better stats, but can give disadvantages as well (weapons would normally cost more energy, but maybe making the efficieny upgrade less efficient? (80% might be too much)). Batteries and fuel could have bigger explosions, shields recharge more slowly, etc.. - Part types could maybe have different variants, like the different weapon types, and have their own tech tree (in most cases) for customization. Maybe there could be upgrades included that don't just give a advantage or disadvantage, but both, as an example a slower recharging shield for more capacity (or a faster one for less). Not sure if I said everything, but its open to discussion. Read below replies for additional content ideas

  48. I've got three ideas for you, with pictures! #1: Glamour Maw! This is my idea for an angler fish inspired head! It doesn't give any smelling ability, but it does allow underwater breathing, +1 fishing, and attracts fish. The bulb is the same color as the eyes, which are solid with no whites or pupils. #2: Sticky Tongue! This is my idea to combat the insect swarms; it gives the normal +2 smelling and allows you to use the gather option on insect swarms. I took inspiration from frogs and anteaters <3 #3: Strong Beak! This is my idea based on the Gila Woodpecker! It gives the ability to collect from cacti without getting hurt, and adds +1 strength! No smelling, though. #4: Tusk Mouth This is my idea based on wild boar! It gives the normal +2 smelling, as well as +1 digging and +1 strength. #5: Clever Jaw This is my idea for a new head based on ants! Thanks to the AntsCanada channel on YouTube, I've discovered the wonderful world of ants, and I've fallen in love with these tiny geniuses! Thus, I thought it would be awesome to make a nicheling head based off of their jaw-centered skills! The Clever Jaw adds +1 gathering, +1 cracking, +1 digging, +1 strength, and has no smelling ability, since ants smell with their antennae, which I think would make for a great horn slot option. Instead of a horn adding strength, the antennae could add +2 smelling like a normal snout's nose would! #6: Grabber Gob This is my idea for a head that's actually based on another suggestion of mine: Crarks! They're crocodile sharks But anyway, the Grabber Gob adds +2 smelling, +1 strength, underwater breathing, and the Grab/Grapple ability, which allows the nicheling to hold its prey still to keep it from running away while it's being attacked, but at the expense of becoming the prey's sole target for attacks. Example: Six nichelings surround a walrusdeer with one of them having Grabber Gob. The walrus deer, held in place by the Grabber Gob nicheling, is attacked by all six, but it focuses all its attacks on the nicheling holding it. *Bonus Points if you can tell me what all their visible genetics are!*
