  1. My list of the hardest biomes! Hardest: anything to do with the jungle Easiest: Everything else

  2. @Condorflight The error "Fatal error in GC,Too many heap sections" means that the game ran out of memory. The only thing you can do to make Niche use less memory, is to set the Animal Pattern Resolution to the minimum in the graphic settings, this will make the Nichelings look a bit blurry but the game should use much less memory because it does not have to store large textures. I hope this helps!

  3. Little late to the party, but I wholeheartedly agree that the purr snout in it's current state is creepy :D Someone said it kinda looks like a fox for than a cat. I love cats and hope to see that soft adorable kitten look someday in Niche... For me the whiskers look kind of jarring, like to poor things have been victims of porcupine attack! D:

  4. I'm always hesitant to breed Purr Snout in, not because of what it does (it's very useful,) but it's because it spooks me. Just... look at this... It's even scarier with black eyes x_x I'm sure a lot of people don't find it scary, I just thought this would be an interesting discussion: does anyone else think Purr Snout is spooky?

  7. So... I just wanted to say we should have winter tails. Since we already have medium tails it would only make sense to have a winter tail to keep the nichlings warmer (Kinda looking like a fox tail). Possibly tiny tails- like a little Bobcat tail. I dunno. It would be cute. ...

  8. The tribe is heading across the archipelago. Along the way, they bump into the most beautiful not-pink nicheling they have ever seen. Her name is Dragon Tear II (since her pattern is off OOF) and she knows the archipelago well. Bostonlobstah asks her if she could help to guide them to the next island. Dragon Tear II says yes, so she leads them to the last island in the archipelago chain. Meanwhile, the Forgotten Ones who were left behind on the first island have grown old without Bostonlobstah's magic. Pippin is the first fatality after 74 days. After saying goodbye to everyone being left behind, 10 nichelings move on to their first Medium-level island: Adam 2.0, Bostonlobstah, Stacey, Sense, Sensibility, Snowchild, Avrie, Adeline, Poozie and Frosty. The tribe finds themselves in a strange new land--with a huge and odd--looking port on the side.

  10. The king was hiding in piece number 3 You guessed correctly @Aetherskye! Would you like a Niche or a Nimbatus Steam key?

  11. Unrelated, but you need our help, eh? Attention all Niche Gamers, Bostonlobstah is in great danger, and she needs YOUR help to get out of the island loop. To do this, she needs the island directions so she can mortalize Bostonlobstah again. To help her, all she needs is your credit card number, the three numbers on the back, and the expiration month and date. But you gotta be quick so that Bostonlobstah can secure the bag, and achieve the epic H O M E I S L A N D F L E X

  12. I can't survive any snow islands. Die of hunger. And any other island that has a low food source.

  13. Maybe the head would allow you to howl, which you can do at a tree stump, just like calling. Instead of attracting a mate, however, It could scare off larger predators and rogue males, or decrease the spawn rate of them for a short amount of time. Also, I personally think that the smelling should only be +3 smelling, since the big nose is canine-like and only gives you +3 in that stat.

  14. HOW DARE YOU INSULT MAH CAT BABIES Why do my bears keep giving birth to cats?!

  15. Perhaps choose the jungle, But i'd recomend just shutting the game off, and then turning it back on then getting away from console. Perhaps just try to survive on home island w/out home isle immunity? (Just to pass some time, I find that works) I've never had that weather glitch (Probably because I rarely check the antennae forecast) but the jumpto weather command WONT WORK it'll just break your game even more I think it'll register as winter no matter what so just try that??? (Purely theory)

  16. I once messed with berry bush spawnrates and the deadly hills were nearly empty. Some island might really just react in ways others don't. Hadn't thought of that, thanks.

  17. @Condorflight That sounds bad Sorry for the problems! I will look into it with our programmers as soon as possible and will get back to you. Thanks for tagging me @Skysplash8!

  18. I chose Long Winter to be harder because there's only one tile of water and the rabbil glitch. Summer Mountains because there's more grass(which is easier. Overgrown Jungle has no water, and in the Deep Jungle creatures can catch fish, cool down or grab a water healing fruit to escape from an ape. And Home Island is sort of hard if you start on it, because Adam's tribe members always steal the food (unless your nichelings have cracking ability). Just so you know I made this list quite quickly, so there might be times where I put an easier island under a harder island.

  19. 1: Peaceful Meadow (the reason i put this higher than tiny green is because it's literally tiny green but bigger, so there's more food) 2: Tiny Green 3: Crossing 4: Archipelago 5: Grass Adventure 6: Grass Mingle 7: Whale Island 8: Summer Mountains 9: First Snow 10: Home Island 11: Jungle Gate 12: Swampy Hill (unless the tribe have poison resistance) 13: Oasis 14: Deadly Hills 15: Rainforest 16: Sleepy Reeds (same as Swampy Hill, much easier with poison resistance) 17: Burning Savanna 18: Frost Lands 19: Long Winter 20: Deep Jungle 21: O V E R G R O W N J U N G L E

  20. As much as I hate it, when my nichelings get a derp snout, I think it's important for the gameplay. As the derp snout is no health or functional issue, only a beauty problem, we have to choose, whether we want to get rid of the derp snout or rather blindness, crippled paws or hemophilia. That makes the game challenging and let us think about, what is more important to us, beauty or functional issues.

  21. Alright, so this is gonna sound really stupid, but how do you use colored text on the forum? I’ve definitely seen it before, and I don’t think anyone has blatantly said how to do so either. I also thought this would be a nice place for people to see it somewhere too.

  22. Hello! I love to make not funny edits of your niche creatures rabbils, crabbits, nichelings, bearyenas.. etc! So send me one picture of a nicheling for me to destory here are some edit examples of stuff I've done.. also tell me what kind of edit you want and what you want me to do.

  23. I'd like a creative mode where you can alter your nichelings for fun. More genes or altered effects of genes like having the armored body be impervious to leeches, or have the toxic body kill leeches when they attach themselves to that creature. Spiky bodied babies can't be picked up by the bird. More biome types and creatures: Ocean level with octopi and sharks as predators. And underground biome with larger variants of the Stagmoles and worms, blind eyes and big noses would work the best with digging paws. Have tamable creatures help the tribe with enemies. A multiplayer mode where you get to face-off against another player for control of the island. Dodomingos laying eggs you can steal. WINGS SO I CAN MURDER THE STUPID BLUEBIRD FOR STEALING MY BABIES! Tamed Bluebird that acts like a scout, spotting wanderers and predators. That would be so useful in the jungle. A new sleeping pose would be adorable. Instead of closing their eyes, they could lay down and curl up. It could even have defensive purposes like, the spiky body and armored body gets an extra point in defense when they're curled up.

  24. Jungles are so easy! What are yall on about? and.. snow islands are quite easy aswell! I just started on the deep jungle and i'm around 70 + days in, and the tribe has discovered all 3 apes, but for some reason we go away! The tribe size is 17 currently. I don't have velvet paw, toxic body, big ears, stinky tail, or even lean body. Not sure how well I'll do considering our lack of jungle genes.

  28. Kits are being born left and right! Here's all the litters. Silverditch becomes the mate of Goldenbeach. They have 4 kits- Fawnlake, Loudbriar, Darksun, and Branchsky. Fawnlake- the beige female- is quirky and modest. Loudbriar- the yellow male- is kind and has a strong sense of standing up for what is right. Darksun, the brown she-kit, is kind but lonely. Branchsky, the light tomkit, is brave and likes to wrestle. Gardencove mates with Gladetrooper. They have 1 kit- Flamehorns. Flamehorns is hardy, gentle, and always tries to be the best warrior he can be. Redmuzzle mates with Oddadder. They have 1 kit- Nettleclay. Nettleclay is a bit arrogant. However, he doesn't let it show, aside from the occasional condescending comment. Farwatcher once again mates with Wonderstar- They have 3 kits this time- Dayfluff, Lividbrook, and Leaftumble. Dayfluff, the yellow eldest yellow she-kit, is serious, responsible, and determined. Lividbrook, the red she-kit, is sarcastic and a bit bitter. Leaftumble, the youngest kit, is known for being bold. Wonderstar moves on to his fourth life.

  33. This is my first idea for the game that I've had for some time, Keen Eyes gives 3 sight to what ever has it. It could be just a base gene or be like round ears and only be found on home island. For some reason this has just stuck with me for so long that i could just call it one of my favorite genes. For its symbol it could be like a goat's eye or the normal eye with more of a pupil in the middle. Why I wouldn't go with a cats eye if for a other eye gene that could go with moving at night. Out of all my genes this is the mostly to get but into the game in some way or form. Anyway I'm off😴 Edit: How to get, Clear # amount of tiles (250 tall grass for one) Survive # amount of days or Can be found by going to new islands (like most genes)

  36. Whoo! I'm glad that we'll get the sandbox options, but I still hope the Breeder mode will be added one day By 'Customizable Animal names', does that mean: 1. you could rename all Bearyenas (example) 'Bob'; 2. Name a specific Rabbil (example) 'Arnold' but leave all other Rabbils named Rabbil; or 3. Make your Nichelings have names with colors and symbols and stuff? Also, what does 'Q1 2019' mean?

  37. I like what you made here. Something that might make it better is if there were a nest it would go back to every couple of nights. If you could get rid of the nest than they would leave the island altogether or in the den, there would also be little children. If this happens and you killed them, then the parent might come after you or leave entirely. Or if you killed someone and no one can collect it before night, the Skunkadillo will sneak by and take the food. Same with the berries bushes if no one is near them. But I like what you made here.

  39. @AlphaBlox I really like the ideas you have for insect island! But I was curious, are the Misharks related to this island because you stated they can into the shore but the insect island has an unswimmable ocean. If they aren’t, you should make a separate post for them so people can vote for them.

  40. Maybe have them displayed them as Very Dominant(VD), Dominant(D), Neutral(N), Recessive®, or Very Recessive(VR), just so we know what's going to take effort to either breed in or keep in. I think all immunity genes have a 50/50 chance of being chosen. Even if RNG sometimes hates us.

  41. Rival Tribes Feel free to ask questions about this feature! It helps to expand on the idea and adds more information for the developers to look at when deciding on what to add to the poll. What's a "Rival Tribe?" A rival tribe is a group of at least 10 creatures that roam the island together and have a few or a lot of genes accustomed to the island they're found on. What is their purpose/What do they do? A rival tribe will do two things that could help or harm your tribe. More functions will be added when I come up with them. attack your creatures if they are within smelling range are able to join your tribe (This will be explained in a later section.) have three moves per turn like a normal creature in your tribe, even though they aren't in your tribe How do I defeat or invite them? There are two ways to invite a rival tribe and one way to get rid of them. Inviting Methods You can offer food that is determined by the amount of nichelings in the tribe times 5. (Ex. There are 14 creatures. 14 x 5 = 70, so you must offer 70 food.) An alpha will be marked by three blue gems instead of green. You must kill this alpha to disperse their tribe so you may invite members you want for the usual 5 food offering for each individual creature. Each have pros and cons. Can't support 40 more creatures? You could miss out on important genes or the genes of the alpha that you would possibly have to unlock otherwise. Would you want the alpha's genes? You could also kill nichelings that could've been good for breeding while you were trying to get rid of the alpha. Killing Method You can wipe out a tribe by killing the alpha and then attacking the members that have now separated. They will act like your usual wanderers and won't fight back, so it will be easy (Unless, of course, these creatures have Spiky Body.) How large are the tribes? Does the amount affect anything? They will be between 10 and 40 strong. The more creatures, the harder it is to even offer the food to invite all of the members. As stated in a previous section, they attack within smelling range and won't stop trying to kill your nichelings until their alpha is dead or you offer them food. These nichelings will defend their leader at all costs, which means a rival tribe with 40 members is quite the force. They will also breed if numbers go below 10, meaning you can't just wait for them to die out from old age. How much they breed will be random, the amount of new creatures bred can range from 15-30. Rival tribes will only breed, however, when your nichelings aren't nearby. If they bred during combat, it would make it harder to wipe them out so that you could get to the leader. Where can I find them? How often do they show up? Rival tribes can be found on hard difficulty islands and above, excluding Home Island. They are rare and have a 5% chance to exist when the island loads for the first time.

  42. ya i dident inted for them to be bred with but i really like the frog rat design. the only reason I think they couldent breed is that there probably to small and the art is great. And i was just wondering what you drew the art on? PS- maybe it could be frog like but still have teeth.

  43. cool idea it would also make a great addition to the game.

  44. NO!! Shame on you!!! One is bad enough... Actually, I agree with TamTroll and RedKnight: since the overall design seems to be just a morphed up face, having a little variety of changes could be more interesting. Honestly the only thing that really bugs me about the derp snout as it is, is that the ears are always the same: whatever genes you have don't show up there.

  45. I had this idea for a while now and recently there was a discussion in the steam forums about the rogue males. Now my suggestion: Rogue males won't breed with females who have a strength stat higher than their own, example: rogue male has a strength of 1 here in your tribe you have your warrior queen with a strength of 7 she hits the rogue male and with the current mechanics it would still breed with her, even though that is kind of unrealistic. New mechanic it wouldn't breed with her. But if your female only has a strength of one and the rogue male does as well, it would breed with her. Also rogue males shouldn't breed with toxic body females, like they don't breed with spiky body females. Alternative mechanics: strong females have to hit the rogue male at least once to scare him off. Rogue males don't breed with sick females.

  46. I really these hybrid suggestions wold make great additions to Niche. What if there was also a creature exclusive to the swamp as well? It could a mixure of a long haired car (like a maincoon), and a orchid praying mantis. It would be called somrthing like prayingcoon. It could possibly have the following mutatable genes: Compond eyes- +2 sight Silky Body- +2 Cold Resistence +2 Stelth Scythe Claw- +3 (or 4) Strength Silky Tail- +1 Cold Resistence +1 Stelth

  47. Definitely the most detailed I've seen this suggestion. Little bit of personal thought, maybe they could be less hostile, only attacking if you either attack them first, or stay in their territory for a night, possibly marked somehow? Their territory might have more bountiful resources than the rest of the island you're on? Also I think you should be able to breed with them, but not the Alpha, unless befriendment measures are taken. Speaking of which, how would breeding work with the alpha? Would the next 'strongest' nicheling take over upon death by age, or would they have a special breeding trait within their tribe that copies them into an offspring?
    1 point
  48. i think that's the point, just like crippled paw and hemophillia. it's an undesirable gene that rouge males have the potentul of inadvertently introducing to your family. Your goal is to avoid these genes and breed them out, their goal is to cause you conflict and mix things up a bit.
