  7. Appearance: A familiar creature with an armadillo head with elongated, pronged horns. It has a broad torso and fin-like arms. It has a dolphin tail, stumpy, muscular legs and webbed feet. The Dau's body is covered in soft skin, while its forearms are covered in luxurious hair. Its lower legs, inner thighs, nose and forehead are grey with white spots, while the rest of its body is black, grey and brown. The females look almost the same but with no horns and spots. (I am so sorry for the art -- ) It is found in: Archipelago only. Activity: Moves 3 spaces during the night, and will attack your nichelings if they are near nests, or berry bushes. General: When they mate they produce 1-2 eggs and it takes 3-5 days to hatch. Once they are hatched one of the parents will de-spawn, only one will stay and lead it's offspring away, if you niche-lings happens to defeat the mother/father Dau they can tame the Dau offspring for 3 food. The Dau's mature at 13 days and then are able to mate with a nicheling of opposite sex. Dau traits: - Webbed feet - Tailfin - Fin arms; swimming +3, moving -1 - Big body - Dau Head; smelling -1, eyesight +2, attack +1 - C and J immunity genes - Pattern b - pattern density thin - Antlers Your niche-ling can inherit all these

  8. I was inspired by the idea of colorful toxic bodies and have created this challenge idea It's an easy challenge; The hardest part is that it's in the rainforest sooo.... Basically I'm just trying to breed for fun colors and jungle genes and stuff. Aiming for bright colors, such as toxic colors, reds, yellows, and oranges and pinks with dots and stripes. Hence why they are called the "Rainbow Skittles." Also hope to give them fin/swimming or stinky tail, lean, toxic, or water body, and purr snout, big nose, cracker jaw, beak, bearyena snout or gills. For paws, velvet paws of course, but also claw and nimble fingers. So without further ado, let's begin! Also I'm sorry I haven't updated a lot of my other playthroughs, I got sidetracked and will hold off on my Whale Island and Mountain playthroughs. Also still need to post the results of my community challenge OOOHHhhh these are great starters! And the female has rec. purr snout as well! That will come in handy. The first child is born. Her name is Anasi. She's cute and pink and has double velvet paws. A great skittle for sure! A beautiful but shockingly green wanderer is found. A skittle-worthy dude named Electricity. Get IN to my tribe RIGHT NOW! I need that toxic body since I can't unlock it here ;-; Another wanderer is found. He doesn't have anything in particular that I'm looking for, but he has nimble fingers so that's cool Anasi and Electricity have a daughter with recessive toxic body! She was later renamed Koi, once I was sure my tribe wasn't going to instantly die The tribe is rapidly growing. Velvet paw and Purr Snout are still strong in the tribe. A male named Kuvanro is found (Later renamed Gargoyle). Why the heck does he have big body with recessive heat body!? Not like we need either of those genes The little Skittles discover that the piece of land they were on before is its own little island, being surrounded by rivers. That may come in handy if any dreaded Apes decide to show up. The tribe continues its growth with the birth of Derperella and Purr. Koi and Gargoyle start a family after Anasi's death. Meme is renamed Forest, and Sila is Raine. Lots of velvet paws, which I love!

  12. Derperella and Taro (Purr): A blossoming friendship I swear all these trees give me the jitters. Which ones will spawn the hell demons of terror that are the GREAT APES A cute baby wanderer is found. He doesn't have the best of genes, or the most useful, but he's awfully cute, and little yellow skittle Lemon seems to enjoy a new friend her age. This couple settles down for their last child. Raine and her baby Oranges. I was going to wait for her to have the child since she's so young but she landed in a nest by accident! Gaaah I hate how we have so many beautiful poison fangs and they are literally useless on this island besides the occasional bearyena poisoning Koi II is born. She's orange as well, like literally every other skittle. But she's still super cute!! Like father like son. (Also look at all the razorinas! I'm just waiting now for a double-clawed baby to be born!) We encounter a bearyena whilst exploring the other side of the river. Luckily no skittle is harmed and the bearyena is taken out swiftly thanks to Pedro the cat's powerful claw. What is it with the rainforest and big body!? I invited this lady in on a whim, without even looking at her genes. OOF. I guess she can...pick berries or something Our first Toxic Bodied baby, finally! Her name is Bananas and she is beautiful

  13. When my computer was fresher and wasn't so cluttered with downloads and other games, I had a tribe that was 150 creatures big. It took me 14 tries to get into that save file to take screenshots in case it corrupted lmao Sadly I lost those screenshots when my hard drive oofed itself

  14. Thanks! I'm enjoying this tribe as well. Got so carried away that my tribe is getting kind of big...When I like the tribe it grows rapidly, and when it grows rapidly I lose track of screenshots, and it makes the playthrough less personal and story-oriented. Sorry about that, I'll try to fix it! I was thinking about mutating eye colors as well! I do have some green eyes but would love to get more colors in.

  17. AHHH I LOVE THIS!! Once you get more settled in, try to mutate some eye colors for skittle diversity! Also keep that toxic body strong. That will REALLY make you look like a pack of skittles!

  21. So here's my planned strategy: Everyone gets nimble fingers, runner legs, claws or velvet paws (claw and especially velvet paws are running rampant in the tribe right now) It's the start of a Rainbow/Easter Egg challenge, so I'm hoping to get creatures in yellow and red and white lean body and water body (for ape escape), but mostly toxic body. Colorful spots and stripes. Will use fin, swimming, and stinky tails... I have a lot of purr snouts and cracker jaws...and poison fangs even tho I just realized there are no poison berry bushes and apes are immune to poison rip. Hoping to get in more Big Nose. There's a little 'island' that's completely surrounded by rivers... there are only two jungle trees, neither have roots but I can't shake them...? I will probably have a nicheling or two as ape bait to save my rainbows too, eventually... Do you think this could work in the rainforest? Will crossing the river or going into the ocean be a good strategy to avoid the apes?
    2 points
  22. Apes can cross rivers, I found it from experience one side of the island had a river going through it with no trees, 2 apes ended up crossing it.

  23. That is a no brainer for me. Likana is stunning

  27. So um I am in the jungle for real for the first time It's rainforest yay doing ok so far. no apes. But wondering--there are different kinds of jungle trees--ones with big one-tile roots, trees with two-tile roots, ones with no roots, and short fat ones. Which ones spawn apes? Or do all of them spawn apes? Or each spawns a different kind of ape? Also Can apes cross rivers?

  29. @bostonlobstah I suggest every time you use the console, exit that save and then reopen it. It's gonna seem like a hassle but trust me, using the console can corrupt the save and since that playthrough heavily relies on the console, then you need to do this every time you use the console Now changing the age should be an exception-- I've never had issues with changing the ages of my creatures. But editing creatures and such, DEFINITELY exit the save and then re open it,, I don't want this playthrough to get destroyed by the power of the console ^^; Hope this helped just a bit

  37. My strategy for surviving the jungle: having armored body and big ears. I consoled a tribe to test genes in the deep jungle, and when I tried the armored body the creatures wouldn't even take damage while being attacked by apes, and the big ears give heat resistance.
    1 point
  38. Nope, apes can go into the ocean and cross rivers you just need to make sacrifices. Maybe a distraction of a creature without spit snout, stinky tail, or toxic body.
    1 point
  39. No trees? Did they invade the grassland part? I'll have to run a few tests in the thicker jungles. It's weird that they stopped their pursuit when I did, but maybe it's just distance related.

  40. I have never seen an ape attempt to cross a river. They kinda give up and turn around.

  41. Finally Have time for an update. Koko had her rouge baby. His name is Mud. There is talk of leaving him behind when we move islands. Cremini has died of old age leaving behind a son named Tora with Digging Paw and Nimble Fingers. Button has died of old age. And Autumn Stag has died of old age meaning we need a new leader. Young Tora is named Patriarch. Tribe size goes up to 14. Yay! But first we move islands. Marble mated with Cheddar right before he died. Didnt manage to set his mutations before he died, Oops... Marble has White horn color from the Whims and claw from me. Nico and Mythra have decided to become mates. Mythra gets medium tail from the whims and toxic body from me. Nico gets No pattern from the whims and Purple eyes from me. We have arrived at the savanna. Its actually mostly water with a savanna rim, but its hot enough that my tribe of mostly heat and big bodied creatures is gunna suffer. Mythra and Nico have had their daughter. She has Heat body, Ram Horns, Cracker Jaw and a leg from each parent. Need names for her. Marble has had her son a beautiful child with green eyes and a claw. He also needs a name. It is Nico's last day. Mythra prepares to have one more child with him.

  43. This is only a really short update, and the next one will probably come next week. It's Tourmaline's last day, and since he only has daughters (six daughters. SIX daughters and no son) and the toxic body/wing lineage is at risk, he needs to find someone to mate with, in hopes of leaving a son after his death. (Also, once I get a tablet and become good at drawing nichelings, I will totally make some fanart of him, his mate and his children). For the sake of his lineage, he decides to mate with the young double digging paw Islais. Tourmaline's last day begins, and he passes away, next to his sister Amber and Islais, the mother of his last, unborn child. Amber deicides to use the nest of the Rekola and Tourmaline. Rekola, who still mourns her mate, gladly lets her have it. Also, Islais sits on the nest that she was born in, now waiting to have her first, and probably only child. Meanwhile, poor Siisana has been stunned by a coconut. Ralame decides to have another child, since only her firstborn carries the recessive bearyena hindlegs. Due to her and her mates low fertility, she has problems with getting pregnant, and doesn't succeed this day. The next day begins, and with him two young lives. Tourmaline's last child turns out to be a sickly daughter called Rakoana with bad fertility and only a recessive toxic body. On the other hand, Amber's first son Rovanta turns out to carry the velvet paw. His mother is stunned by his beauty (and I am too). Two days later, Amber gives birth to her second son. Similar to her, he also caries a wing and a velvet paw, but still got the derp snout of his dad. Since he has a recessive toxic body and a wing, he could be the male to save the toxic body lineage. The albinistic wanderer appears again, and gets attacked by our purple toxic body, Anareko (yes, I need to look the names up) At the same time, Siisana finds some rabbils..doing a polonaise? Our hybrids get their fourth, last and perfect baby. She doesn't have the recessive bearyena ears, but she has the hindlegs we needed, and just like her brother, she shows the poisonous fangs of her grandfather Tourmaline. Siisana reaches her last day, surrounded by the rabbils she loved to hunt. A bearyena appears, alarming the hybrids, who run in his direction as fast as they can. He gets attacked and takes some damage, but not enough for him to die. Amber gets her third son (if she continues to have boys, then...I dunno, I get angry?) Apart from his gender (and tail), he's living perfection, and has some beautiful blue eyes. The albinistic wanderer dies, after he tried to steal some berries. He messed with the wrong tribe. Anareko decides to continue her father's lineage, and takes her cousin Kirnu (Amber's second baby) as her future mate. I have no clue why I took this screenshot, but this moment was worth it for some reason, so here he is: Short notice: I really like having my playthrough here, because I can see what happened over time. It's kinda like a detailed family tree. This is why I will attempt a playthrough in Story mode, and post him in another topic. This was some shameless advertising, if you'd like some advertising too, you can buy this spot for only twenty food per letter.

  45. A gift from the goddess is brought to the tribe in the form of a healthy kit born with double digging paws. She is named Salvation Before he passes, StarSpot asks Nukirduk if he would do her the honour of having a kit with her. His gifts have helped the tribe collect food in ways that they could not have dreamt of, and she hopes their child will be blessed with the ability to continue his work Meanwhile, Faith's Chosen and Isis have found themselves quite an adventure as they search for food, and though Isis still carries CloudStream's kit, she finds herself growing fonder of Faith's Chosen, allowing herself to dream of a family made of love, not for survival Through his sickness claims his life, Nukirduk does have a moment to meet his daughter, a perfect creature sharing of his wings, if not his strength. In his last moments, he suggests she be named SwiftCurrent, in honour of StarSpot's parents, who brought her to this place and thus held a hand in the birth of his daughter. With only a day before her own passing, StarSpot asks Salvation to look after and care for SwiftCurrent, though she knows it to be a heavy burden for one so young. Though aware that winter is fast approaching and they should be focusing on finding food, Faith's Chosen's curiosity about the creature he could only just make out in the frozen glacier was too strong, and so he freed the strange creature, with its funny face and strange, hard tail. Upon the birth of Isis' first child, Faith's Chosen hears a call for help from a nearby creature, drained of energy and in mortal peril Though it goes against his every instinct, he calls for Isis to leave the baby to its fate as he was, and help save this wanderer.
