So while looking through some of your guy's playthroughs, I noticed some people have called out certain wanderers for having "bad" genes, or genes that don't really suit the environment. I got confused, because the genes to me looked a-okay. So that begs the question! What do you guys consider perfect genes? For me, it's just genes that make the creature look cool. Now I see why I'm bad at this game7 points

ohh⦠I have had many loved nichlings in the past too bad I lost theme without a photo but here are a few I got a snap of Lily (goddess of Second chance) Rais/Bat (Most beautiful descendant of my Adams quest) Kora/Moss (Seer of the swamps) Anareis/Autumn (My goddess of sickness) Rako/Scarlet (Just some random nichling)3 points

Perfect genes for me don't exist because I don't like a homogenous looking tribe. So I have a bunch of different looking Nichelings all around and don't mind the occasional webbed feet or yellow fur. Just if anything starts to dominate it gets annoying. Though I do prefer good eyes, high fertility, different immunity genes and no hemophilia3 points

*me when I find a sickly digging truck out of an ice block except I actually throw them in* and let's all think about how philo is the real niche goddess I mean she MADE the game (along with her team but philo is the one mentioned here)3 points

So, during my Niche Competition playthrough that I obviously didnβt forget about, I split up certain events by volumes. And one day I got bored and made the cover for Volume 1. I was planning to make 2 and 3, but it never happened. I think itβs just the style that I hate. I draw way better today, since this was back from November. Eve terrifies me But yeah. Old volume cover. Woo.2 points

Because they've been reincarnated, I say give them better genes. It's like, if they have the power to be born again, they can give themselves better genes. But if the bad genes are an important part of their character, they let them have bad genes.2 points

My favorite genes are basically Adamβs familyβs genesβbig body, poison fangs, and runner leg. Also a huge sucker for mask and stripes! I like wings, big nose, antlers, peacock tail and fin tail as well. I donβt mind yellow (I need to get used to it for the skittles Playthrough) but I donβt like yellow/black or moss brown/black.2 points

Generally: new desirable trait? If yes, vet for traits requiring mutation (2 bad snouts, double no pattern...) if i expect more than two bad traits being passed on, it's a no. Fertility isn't that important. A high stat is a plus, but low ones are easy enough to fix. Same for hemophilia. They almost always produce a very unrealistic, healthy son. Even if they don't, it just doesn't spread. Frog legs are a hell no. It takes forever, 4 generations forever to remove, once they enter a breeding pair. Scorpion tail is my favourite, mitigating most issues if it passes on well. Exceptions are made for high risk high reward pairings. Rougeling passed on all of his water genes. Mom had big body and fishing tail, giving water body automatic dominance. If the first child hadn't been great, there was a very hungry bluebird overhead. As it is, he got the bad fertility and a novel immunity gene. Love him.2 points

I'd gladly invite in a blind nicheling with hemophilia and double no paw but I'd use them for exploring or gathering if they can collect and I'd only bring them in if I have a stable supply of food. Additionally, I would restrict them from breeding. If they only have one of the bad genes (eg, just double no paw) then I would not restrict them from breeding: mutation menues exist after all. My perfect nichelings are healthy, (I can make allowances for inactive short-sightedness or inactive blindness) with big ears for hearing and big nose for smelling since I dislike restrictions on senses. I dislike poison fangs -even though they look attractive- and I would much rather have toxic body to gather poison berries. I don't mind having weak nichelings, though it does come in handy having at least two strength so I have defense against bearyenas. If I have armored body unlocked, I will use that as an alternative to having high strength. Although a lot of genes are beneficial, I don't really care and if I haven't got my desired genes I'll happily take what I can get.2 points

Once in First Snow, Bostonlobstah settles down and has a son named Ezra. We break open an Ice Block and find lovely Sireko. That's a funny looking rogue. Oh CRAP POOZIE NO We also find this guy and invite him in. A disgraceful rogue son is born. Who's not pink. One day, Bostonlobstah is minding her own business, wondering why it isnβt snowing, when all of a sudden she hears a strange noise coming from the bushes...It sounds like 'doot doot.' "Who are YOU!?" Bostonlobstah exclaims. The funny-looking pink nicheling responds: "My name's Philomena and I'm the real Niche goddess." Bostonlobstah is infuriated. She comes this close to tossing Philomena into the ice-cold river. (Honestly Bostonlobstah And Philomena look really similar! Pink + white, antlers, nimble fingers and stinky tail!)2 points

Hi! As I really love both Niche and drawing, I want to have a post where I'll be posting my occasional drawings. I don't have plenty of time in my life so I won't update very often, but this will help me to have all of them gathered in a single post, and also you'll be able to see them and comment if you like them or if I could improve something! Also if I have the time, I could draw someone's nichelings^^ For now I'll post my drawing of one of my all time favorite Nichelings, my beloved Skull, Goddess of Mischief. She was from my first tribe ever and was born in the warm savannah. She was really mischievous and liked to pull pranks on everyone. I really wish I had taken a pic of her genetics to try and breed her again...1 point

I'm gonna basically do this but with just my gods and goddesses (if you're okay with that, of course) bc I love this (and I wanna see what would happen if Meringue manages to get Annini and Emmai be have kids with him...)1 point

I don't consider perfect nichelings, I love wanders with spit snout and double no paws. I love pink nichelings.. especially with short snout. Spots with pattern shape A are gorgeous, if it's a romantic love story between a rogue male and the prettiest female in the tribe, so be it!1 point

Emmai has Yellow/Black fur! HOW DARE YOU! EMMAI WILL HUNT YOU DOWN. I don't like it when everybody is exactly the same, like in my Niche Competition Tribe where everybody is yellow with black pattern. In my original Kikonoko Tribe (tribe of Meringue), a while after Meringue left his mortal body, everybody ended up having antlers, mask, big nose, Bearyena claw or Nimble Fingers or both, and white fur (along with half of them being albino). Luckily I fixed it by breeding in some wanderers (one of which gave birth to Spliti!), which added in some new colors and different horns.1 point

I agree with Meredithheck. Give them better genes unless the bad genes are a part of their character.1 point

Niche doesn't really need a true goddess, so they're all fine by me. Even when they look alike, there's more competition when they do alike enough things and sometimes end up merged. As nicheling populations never meet, why care?1 point

I am also on the side of Philomena she actually gave me a free game, and i've seen bostonlobstah way to many times she lost her luster1 point

ok so a long time ago I was playing Niche with my sister and I found a tree stump, so I tried to explain it to her but she kept interrupting me by pointing out other things on the screen so I just screamed "TREE STUNKLE DUMP" at her really loud, and she finally got the point π So Tree Stump = Tree Stunkle Dump im not sorry1 point

maybe they could just add all the other letters to make 26 immunity genes (27 including home island gene) because right now wanderers can be technically related to your tribe members and that makes no sense whatsoever so new immunities would help that1 point

There are many players who do challenges in Niche already. I think it would be great if you could design challenges and also include a win condition. That way, the game will make sure you can't cheat and tell you when you reached the goal you set.1 point

In addition, I think wild creatures should spawn with random gem colors, not just green all the time.1 point

Pattern shape E: I've always wanted nichelings with white tummies. I also miss the warning dots. More stripes wouldn't hurt either. So let's have a new pattern shape! Pattern shape E would be rare and hard to get. It wouldn't be auto unlocked like the other pattern shapes. To unlock it, you would have to invite a nicheling with the gene. Tortoise shell pattern gene: This idea came from a bug post from @GryffBirb Also @Jojo inspired this post. There would be a new gene called "colour dominance" or just simply the "tortoiseshell gene". This gene has three variations. Co-dominance or "no tortoiseshell", "spotted tortoiseshell" and "brindled tortoiseshell". Only females display it tought. Males can only have it as an inactive gene. There is a really tiny change of a male tortie, but if one is born, it will most likely be infertile. Normal male who carries spotted tortoiseshell gene: On females the gene acts differently. The female only displays the upper one of her colour genes. The other colour appears on her as spots, brindles and splats. These spots wont appear on her patters. Spotted: Brindled: The mutation for tortoiseshell can be unlocked by succesfully mutating each fur and pattern colour once. For spotted you have to also mutate spots and for brindled you need to mutate stripes.1 point
