  1. Yes I know I said I wouldn't play Niche until the update came but I was bored so here we go. So I was preparing to move islands and had these twin boys hanging around. And I knew I would leave a bunch of lovely Nichelings behind so I decided to take mostly pregnant females. The two females I chose for the twins then gave birth on the new island and both of them had twins. That was so cute!!! Twin fathers both having twins of their own even though they couldn't see them :3 Ignore the baby in the middle, or don't because she and her mother look awesome Also the twin fathers both looked like the yellow striped baby, just one had cracker jaw and digging paw.

  8. I think it is great that you are interested in something else than the holocaust. Being from Germany you hear almost nothing else about WWII than the holocaust and how horrible the NS regime was (and that is true) but I would have loved to learn more about the strategies and stuff (of course we talk a little bit about that but not as much about the holocaust). I'd say just stick with your interests. Who cares if you offend people? You aren't on this planet to make other people happy but to make yourself happy

  9. We will be trying to create @Renio2490's Raja first. I will be naming Nichelings like humans as well. "You will have children until the day you die," Kobe said, laying out the rules. Suzan nodded reluctantly. So, she got back on the nest and collected some berries, as ordered. Kobe smirked, happy that his plan was working out in his favor. That night, he returned to his two children, where Nima attempted to run away. Kobe ran after her, and broke her legs with ease. I didn't know this was going to be this hard... Kobe groaned internally. Nima then crawled back to the shade of the tree to rest and collect food. August clawed away at the dirt, frightened and a bit confused. The next day, Alissa was born, and soon taken away by Kobe, although Kobe forgot to have another child with Suzan. Kobe saw that his two children already there were collecting nuts, and praised them. "Good job you two! Now, Nima, since you're an adult now, you'll be having children when resources are available." Kobe smiled. "What?" Before Nima could do much, she was about to have her father's child. But, since there was no other nests available, she was sent on grass collecting, while August continued cracking nuts. Suzan heard rustling in the bushes. Abandoning her nest, she saw her chance to escape and chased after the Nicheling. She spotted the Nicheling, but soon tired and had to crouch behind a rock to hide. The next day, she leapt into the water and landed next to him. "Woah, you ok?" Boris Elise Filipovic asked. I know it's short, but it's a great cliffhanger!

  10. Deer and antelope also use their antlers/horns to attract mates, but none of the horns we already have in game add attractiveness. it wouldn't really make sense for this horn to add attractiveness and not the others TThe whole thing about cats purring helping to heaI is hypothetical and in my opinion sounds like nonsense. The purr snout takes off days of damage while a cats purr (if it really does help healing) would have quite a small impact, so I would definitely say the purr snouts healing ability is magical for me, 1 strength would be enough for the stats. It would be no more attractive to a nicheling than any other horns/antlers, and magical powers seems a bit silly. At least the purr snout is based on something, even if that something is questionable

  11. In order to enjoy foreign films, I've had to thicken my skin against attitudes towards the U.S., as well. It helps, though, that I understand most of those attitudes, though it is still a bit much when the caricatures are too ridiculous or cruel. But then, that would be a weak showing in a film regardless of the target. I think it helps to remember that imperialist England is a somewhat different country than Modern England.

  15. I know that there are other suggestions for family tree improvements, and here are links to all of them: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/594-family-tree/ https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/2466-show-lifespan-in-family-tree-view/ https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/2486-show-islands-in-family-tree/ https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/2512-static-family-tree/ https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/2537-highlight-compatible-immunity-in-family-tree/ This idea contains all of them and more here in this picture (no I did not make it compatible with my creature creator on purpose *cough cough*): So starting at the top, we have the static button. For more information, you can view to original link, but the reset button is my idea. When creatures are erased from the family tree, the family tree leaves their space open and with the static feature, this can get annoying for some. The reset button allows for your family tree to reset as if you exited the game and came back so everything is in an orderly fashion. Next, there are the "P" and "G" buttons. The buttons stand for phenotype and genotype which lets you toggle what you can see. In this picture, the genotype button is deactivated which means you can no longer see the genotype both in and out of the family tree. Below that, there's a lifespan bar. The lifespan bar tells you exactly what you think it tells you. You can hover over it for the same information you would get from hovering over it outside of the family tree. If the creature is dead like the one above, you will still be able to see their lifespan bar along with any damage they had when they died. You will also either be able to see how many days they have left or their cause of death depending on if they are still alive or not. The numbers on the left side of the screen are blocks for both the endless family tree idea and the island family tree idea. The blocks can either be automatic and save all creatures for a set number of generations (which can be by island if you choose to do so) or be set up for you to save your current family tree at any time. In the case of the automatic saves, a notification will let you know when you have filled all of your slots and ask you if you want to overwrite your top block for the next slot. At the bottom of the screen, you will notice two gene filters. The top filter will filter in blue whilst the bottom filter will filter in yellow. You may notice that there are no creatures that are yellow, but there are instead green creatures. This is because the two filters will work together meaning that if a creature has both traits, then the creature will appear green rather than yellow or blue. You may also notice that some creatures are a lighter shade of blue than normal and that the bottom green is also different than the rest. This is because the lighter shade of blue represents creatures who are homozygous for the trait in order to distinguish between heterozygous creatures. The different green reflects this as that is the only creature that is homozygous in both traits. A more subtle difference is that on the family tree itself is that creatures are outlined in different colors. There are five different colors: black, white, green, yellow, and red. Black represents that the creature is dead. White represents that the creature is alive. Green represents that the creature is compatible based on immunity and is toggleable via the button in the bottom right-hand corner of the tree (when clicked on again, it will turn gray and will not show any green, yellow, or red outlines) (after-thought, maybe clicking on the button again will show yellow and red outlines for one compatible gene and no compatible genes. Let me know if you think this should be all in one or if they should be separated out). Note that the black and white outlines are only present when the gene filter is being used due to there being no way of telling who is alive or dead when it is currently being used. Also note that only creatures of the opposite sex to the selected creature will have green, yellow, and red outlines. You will also notice a small lifespan bar above each creature as well as three dots to represent gems. The small lifespan bar will appear exactly how it appears in-game currently. The gem dots will change colors according to what they are set to as well. Finally, I propose some new filters: There are now three new icons: a creature, a clock, and a DNA icon. The creature will show the ages of creatures. The clock will show how much time a creature has left. (Sorry for the creature and clock icons, I didn't have any ideas for what they should be.) Below I will explain the DNA icon in more detail: As you can see, it is found under the attributes filter with a different color. The different coloration indicates that it does not show numbers but rather letters. You will see two O's for this creature representing offspring and a "P" for partner. Other letter codes include "F" for father, "M" for mother, "A" for aunt, "U" for uncle, "S" for sibling, "H" for half-sibling, "C" for 1st cousin, and "N" for niece or nephew. Everyone who is not related in these ways will not have a letter and will remain a face. This creature was a wanderer, so she does not have much.

  16. This is mostly for realism, and is mean to correspond with the lifespan lengthening. I don't know exactly how this would work, but... If the lifespan for nichelings is set to more than a certain number of days, then although rogue males would have the same lifespan, their incapability at doing many tasks in order to gather food and resources gives them a toll on their lifespan. They would have their own 'food storage' and if it runs out, the begin to starve like the playable nichelings do.

  18. The Savanna biomes are still pretty bare, so adding a couple more creatures to them would be nice. I had an idea for one, the Bullhog. Looks: A creature that is a cross between a bull and a warthog. It would be about half the size of a medium bodied creature, look like a warthog, and has very large horns of a bull. It can spawn either light brown or dark brown. Spawns: In a packs of 2–3 in a large savanna biome. Characteristics: Are neutral until you attack them, then the whole pack will go after you if you get too close and skip the day. Feed on roots and will wander out of the savannah for brief periods of time to look for roots for none are around. Attack, Movement, and Health: They attack for 3 days worth of damage. Have a 25 day life span. They have 2 energy points and use them when you skip the day. Stats: Eyesight: 1 Smelling: 3 Hearing: 2 Food drop: They drop 6–10 pieces of food when they are killed.

  23. Yes, while that would be cool to make Niche free, as Lilytuft said Stray Fawn does need money to make things like new updates or, y’know... feed themselves and their families. If you want Niche for free, you might as well pirate it or watch a playthrough of it.

  24. Hi there, It was my first time running Niche, and I really enjoyed the game. But the translating stuff is a little bit confusing, I've seen there're several minor translate issues with simplified Chinese version. And I'm a Chinese native speaker, who is willing to help. I mean, is there any possibility that I can contribute to language things? Like what other games do. For example, the first circled word that is shown in the 3rd picture attached should be "进度条" but not "酒吧" And some of the words shown in the 2nd picture are simply broked.

  28. Pirate A baby found in the water, no water body. How'd she get here??? A squirrel was caught in the act of stealing acorns! A scorpion tail nicheling with pink claws sneaks up on the tribe. Another baby is found, but this time she is on land, and not in the water for no reason. ANOTHER orphan is found! This time in the jungles and not on the back of a whale! Why are so many of the rogues I took screenshots of babies? … ANOTHERRRR baby, also from the waters, the deep waters of the archipelago.

  29. I started working on something I had teased earlier. It was really mobile when I started, But you know as you start adding more it becomes more and more heavy. The Head of the drone nearly doesn't even fit into the editor camera! I am in the process of making the tail piece, After which I can finally make the full drone!

  31. I always forget who the father was for my pregnant nichelings. So when I select a pregnant nicheling, I'd like to see a display of who the father was when I mouse-over the pregnant symbol. Also, it would be good to see in the family tree, if one is already pregnant.

  32. Appearance: A familiar creature with an armadillo head with elongated, pronged horns. It has a broad torso and fin-like arms. It has a dolphin tail, stumpy, muscular legs and webbed feet. The Dau's body is covered in soft skin, while its forearms are covered in luxurious hair. Its lower legs, inner thighs, nose and forehead are grey with white spots, while the rest of its body is black, grey and brown. The females look almost the same but with no horns and spots. (I am so sorry for the art -- ) It is found in: Archipelago only. Activity: Moves 3 spaces during the night, and will attack your nichelings if they are near nests, or berry bushes. General: When they mate they produce 1-2 eggs and it takes 3-5 days to hatch. Once they are hatched one of the parents will de-spawn, only one will stay and lead it's offspring away, if you niche-lings happens to defeat the mother/father Dau they can tame the Dau offspring for 3 food. The Dau's mature at 13 days and then are able to mate with a nicheling of opposite sex. Dau traits: - Webbed feet - Tailfin - Fin arms; swimming +3, moving -1 - Big body - Dau Head; smelling -1, eyesight +2, attack +1 - C and J immunity genes - Pattern b - pattern density thin - Antlers Your niche-ling can inherit all these

  33. I actually very much enjoy these coloured lights. The only thing that bothers me (a tiny bit) is that it is all default colours instead of pink: not exactly fancy, and that is a major drawback to my antsy fancy dandy drones plans. I mean... Does this not look like a world ready to be discovered? (I made one with lasers too) You know you want it. Do not listen to the voices telling you there is better to do with your time: they are lying.

  34. Wow. The vector thrust makes things almost TOO easy. This is a basic swarm drone. A vector thruster on a bottom-heavy drone, so the thruster leads it. Reverse it to avoid crowding in the front, strafe thrust on the side responsive to their sensors. This is babytown frolics. A nine-part swarm drone; kinda weirdly easy. I'm not used to easy.

  35. This one is really basic but this is how it works, in the family tree above or below the Nicheling that would say something along the lines of "Born: Turn X, Death: Turn X" Ex: Born: Turn 15, Death: Turn 31 And for the creatures who haven't yet died; Born: Turn 39, Death: Turn N/A I was originally going to try and edit in what I thought it could look like, but I was unable to find a decent editing program that wouldn't mess up the quality of the entire image or just wouldn't edit properly. Rip.

  36. I recommend it saying Day X instead of Turn X, as in game it calls them days (if you hover over the sun icon at the top).

  37. Apparently nobody has suggested this. Why raise water nichelings when water biomes are so BORING? there is not enough to explore down there. I feel like maybe these suggestions will make it a little more intresting? More fish: I know we have alot already, but it would be cool if we had fish for deep oceans and rivers. So here are my fish ideas! River fish: Salmon. Just an ordinary salmon that goes up stream and then dies. dead body kinda like the clown koi. Deep ocean: Bass. Litteraly a bass. Troop, A trout that swims in groups of 2/3 Tropical fish: Colorful fish that just swim around like a fish. Now sea plant life! Corals: Corals can come in colors of Purple, pink, red, orange, and yellow. Seaweed: It grows very tall and has tons of nesting material. Very common deep in the ocean. Squids: Little squid that ink you if you attack them. the inking takes away one turn for three days. they give 3 food. Pufferfish: They give 2 food and once attacked they puff out and deal one attack to surrounding nichelings. Bubble columns: They randomly start blowing at dig sites at least 5 tiles deep into the ocean. They launch your nicheling up into the air for about 1 second before they come back down. And yeah.. Thats it.

  38. So I was thinking.. Bugs are great, right? They fly, they buzz.. and they.. sting.. That brings me to my suggestion! Insect island. Oxygen is plentiful here, so there a huge bugs about the size of a full grown bearyena! Big, right? Well the bugs steal your berries, they steal your roots, and basically all the food you every get.. Those are the scavengers, about the size of rabbils. The big bearyena bugs drove out the original bearyenas so they are the predators! They are mantibees, which have a stinger of a bee and arms of a mantis! They look like mantises but with a bee stinger and thats basically it. Optional: You can steal their eggs which are found by abandoned rabbil burrows and either eat them, or invite them to your tribe! It takes once day to hatch and the rest is exactly like taming a bearyena! But of course you have to fight the mother mantibee to invite them. Now what the island looks like! It has dark grass with broken down trees that were infested by termites. There are lots of cliffs and no swimmable ocean. I would say this to be a medium island because the bugs always steal your food What if you added a new prey item called a Mishark. a little mouse that has the fin of a shark and sharp teeth. If your attack isnt high enough then you will get one days worth of damage. These Misharks can swim underwater and walk on land! but they can only swim on the shore, no deeper. I dunno.. I think the insect island would be alot of work but mebbe the Misharks? Later.

  39. It would be a horn gene that’s a more exaggerated angler fish light (more droopy and a bigger light that glowed different colors based on the horn color). It would lure fish and bunnies towards you, but could rarely also bring predators upon the creature who has the angler light. Unlocked by finding a wander with the light (only spawn in oceans). Stats: Lure +2 Distasteful Appearance -1 also drew a kinda terrible drawing on what it could look like.

  42. I made this on a different post.. But it was completley unrelated to that post so im making this so people can vote sepratley! Misharks are mice with the fin of a shark and pointy shark teeth! If your attack is too low then they will bite you, which causes one day of damage. These Misharks can swim but only in shallow water. They are usually found near the shores. The only time they arent is when its a swamp island!
