When you fill the entire mutation menu with normal hindlegs and still get webbed ones. It's even more painful when one parent has them active, the other recessive, and .. frogs, frogs and even more frogs! They're cursed, watch out3 points

I'd go with +1, seeing as it's main purpose is to smell bad. Cold resistance would be more of an extra thing3 points

There are so many questions that popped into my head while reading this XD Why does he look like a Vampire to you? Why do you hate Vampires? What do you have against my precious derp snout babies? How can you have to many poison fangs?! Why would you kill poor, innocent wandering babies?2 points

a couple (very short because i accidentally sKIPPED THE DAY SCREEE) days later, cherry gave birth. he was called maple, and everyone was happy to see him- especially heather. she had never seen another child before. she was also about to go hunting with her father for the first time, her antlers meant she would be very good at killing moles like dusty. as heather wandered off behind her father, he talked to her the entire way, with different tips and things she should be careful of. "now watch very closely" he whispered. the was a tiny scream as he leapt into the grass and swiped at the mole, and heather was amazed. she couldn't wait until she could go hunting! in the morning, heather had a chance. she snuck up behind a mole, and.. yes! it was killed masterfully. as she presented it to her mother, she was very proud. so proud that her and dusty decided to have another child. the next day, a gorgeous baby was born. he was called rosemary, and his parents found him very impressive. so impressive, in fact, that cherry had to build her nest as she was so impatient to see her child. life was flourishing in the new tribe, and everyone was surviving excellently. the next morning, a new baby was born. she was called blueberry for her stunning blue eyes, and happily played with rosemary. all of the hunters were happy. there was more moles to kill than ever. the father and daughter made quick work of both of them, and ruby prepared for a final child. the next day she was born- and she was a kitten! everyone was amazed with her antlers and her whiskers and her fur- she was sure to be the leader of the tribe. her parents named her sage, and were very happy to see her in their nests. ruby was concerned, however. there were no cracker jaw heirs, and it seemed foolish to have more children when there wasn't enough food to support them. cherry wanted one last child, and she settled down to have him. he was called thorn, and was welcomed happily. (Im gonna be real with ya, i consoled his immunity genes because immunity k wasn't passing at all and i dont want to have too many children)2 points

the male wanderer had many questions for ruby, and ruby had many questions for the wanderer. "hello! would you like some food? i have some left. here, take it." she pushed a small pile of nuts into his "paws" with a motherly smile. he seemed pleased. "oh... i didn't realise you were.. you were.." "like you? the paws?" "yeah.." "dont worry about it. me and my mate have came here to start a tribe where everyone is accepted! we're happy to see you. if you want to come with me, you can see my home! it's just by the tree-" "the tree! my mate! where is she? her name is cherry. have you seen her?" "oh no.. sorry. maybe dusty found her?" as they ran back to the tree, he told ruby his name was pine. they were both happy to have found eachother, and both wanted to be back with their mates. when they returned, dusty was very concerned "ruby, i found someone whilst you were gone. she had paws, but as soon as i gave her food, she-" "CHERRY! i found you! are you alright? are you you hurt? has anything happened to your-" pine was interrupted by his mate, who was staring at her "paws" "pine, i think something happened. i came over here looking for food. this really kind person gave me food and, well. this happened" "what? how did that? why did they? you, you're the one who gave her food, correct? do you know why?" pine seemed concerned, but not that concerned. deep down inside he was happy he could share his problems with his mate. "well" dusty explained "the reason me and my mate left was because only us were cursed. everyone in our clan- widowclan- were horrible people. it was my parents- oakblaze and flamethorn. both of them were terrible. any wanderer was killed on sight, and a family on the outskirts, redwood, mossshadow, and bloodmoon, they were all murdered. one of them were even pregnant. the gods were furious. they cursed our clan by making the next two children, well, look like this. ruby's father, maplestar, was horrified when he saw his crippled daughter. we left as soon as we could, and now were here. that curse- the curse of the gods- has come with us- it must have. i watched it. watched as her paws shrinked away. the only way we can redeem ourselves to the gods is by surviving and building our new clan so nobody is hurt or made out to be an outcast. they might forgive us.." there was a short silence. ruby had no idea the curse had came with her, and now she knew that she needed to work to be forgiven for her clan's actions. as the days dragged on, things were going well. more of the camp was cleared out. cherry and her mate were taking on cracking the nuts with their derp snouts as a hobby- ruby was impressed with how often they succeded. she was even pregnant with her first child- but she didn't dare give birth until she was sure the baby would be fed. anyway, she wanted dusty to be there for the birth of the child and he was off hunting moles. everything was going to plan. the next day there was good and bad news. dusty was coming back, but he had also just been made aware of a rogue male. he knew his mate would be fine, though, and that it would be quite easy to block him out as their camp was barricaded by all forms of foliage. just to be safe, pine bred with his mate and went to help dusty defend. ruby settled down in the permanent nest, ready to introduce dusty to her new child. in the morning, a tiny antlered daughter was born to ruby and dusty. as he tiptoed over to the nest. he whispered to his mate: "shes so tiny, isn't she? what did you call her?" "heather. do you like it?" "i love it."2 points

I used this for a playthrough and decided to share it here too. Rules: You can't use the mutation menu. Never. Don't build nests! Babies can only be born inpermanests. Have fun!1 point

I'd like to see some more beaks in the game that offer different stats to the one we've already got, so that winged nichelings can have more options. This beak would be based off of hook-billed parrots like macaws. It would have 1 smell, 2 collecting and 1 cracking and could be unlocked by having 50 nichelings with the cracker jaw Links to other beak suggestions:1 point

Get claw, water body and big ears on your Nichelings and you are fine (don't go there if you don't have anybody with claw hanging around) Fish are by far the best source of food, but don't light up every tile in the pool or you'll soon overfish. If you find you have spare Nichelings send them to the ocean (possibly with cracker jaw as a head gene) to find clams and fish there. I have found that spawn rates are better when you leave areas of the pool dark. Rogue Males aren't that bad as your base should be in the middle of the pool. As long as you stay away from the edge they are no problem and if you happen to have a rogue male baby it can pick from the cacti. Bearyena are a good source of food and can be safely taken down from the safety of the pool. Personally I love the oasis and it is always great fun to start out there1 point

Wait until one of your starters has the claw. Regularly send creatures with very low strenght to attack bearyenas and swipe at leeches, wanderers, whatever you can. Try to set a base up on land. A base needs at least two double berry bushes, so that one nicheling can collect from two every day. If a nest isn't nearby though, don't bother staying. Really, really watch out for rogue males. Only let the breeding pair give birth, kill off everyone else when possible or use them as bearyena fodder. Never cut down the small berry bushes, the land has at least one good food spot, but you'll need luck to find it. Have two non- mainbreeding animals create a blind, big-nosed scout for max. efficiency in finding a second base later. Don't bother with bearyena genes. They're a waste of time. Also don't count on bluebirds to take unwanted children. Get the matriarch pregnant as soon as possible or let her fish in the middle of the Oasis. But rogues always lurk around the pool by the center. Be very careful. Getting in lean body from wanderers early is better than big ears. If you find a lean bodied wanderer early or one with otherwise good heat resistance, invite them immidiately. Have your starters pick berries and the wanderer scout for a nest. As soon as you have enough food, send two creatures to the center to swim and swipe at fishes. If you have claw at this point from the starter, they'll contribute their part, but it won't be much. Keep to the land until you unlock water body. If you stay half-land, take claw + fishing tail + runner leg. I usually have a land line and a fishing line, though. If the island is good, there's also place for another platypus line. But go land - pond - ocean and you won't struggle. I know some don't appreciate the land, but that way I have never taken starvation damage. Don't skip the phases, adapt to the land and find a good base. Their children or grandchildren can go fishing. Only breed once you've secured a good base, though. Berry bushes are always more important than having two nests. For the land line, when setting up... -- don't care about the snout gene -- blindness is o.k. as they can still pick berries in scent mode, even when no one is around. Try go get one blind scout, but don't let it spread. I usually find a blind wanderer. -- don't bother with camouflage -- rogues spawn regularly. You can work against it, but it can't be stopped. Just keep your females pregnant Pond -- Don't have nichelings stay in one spot for too long. Otherwise, fish spawning rates will drop drastically -- ignore all the wanderers that might spawn on the few land tiles within it, unless they have water genes. Rogue males and bearyenas often spawn on these select few tiles, though, so don't station anyone near them overnight or at day. -- just aimless swimming around is o.k. at first. Always use up your turns. Ocean -- don't invite all the bad wanderers you might find. There's not much to do there, though, except checking for bleeding. Leeches spawn in kelp, though, but so does food. It's a gamble. In general, set a low breeding limit and let unwanted nichelings, or nichelings that have the same immunity genes as a better one, pick from the cacti. Picking from cacti isn't a fast death and drowning wastes food. So it's better to use them as a real food source when you can. The only wrong thing to do is the release option. They'll steal too much food. Roots aren't a viable foodsource. You might barely break even, but more often than not, it's a loss. When all cacti and berry bushes are reasonable used, have two grass cleaners, if you can. That will be a dent in bearyena spawn rates and somewhat keep rogues away. You'll want the claw unlocked as fast as possible, though, so when you clean what is an investment. TLDR: Don't lose your head and plan a nicheling's job from their birth. It's hard to die as long as you'll use all foodsources and have a good base.1 point

I agree that +2 cold resistance is too much for the medium tail, it wouldn't make sense for it to have us much/more cold resistance than the stinky tail which is all big and fluffy. I actually made a suggestion a few days ago for a bobtail which would give +2 cold resistance as well1 point
-
I'll take your word for it, I took the stats from the wiki. I thought it sounded a bit op but I just went with it. I'll change it I was actually thinking it wouldn't affect the ears, seeing as neither of the beaks we already have in game do1 point
-
well the medium tail is very common and basic (like short snout, runner leg, medium body) so it doesn't really deserve anything special. there should definitely be a more specialised tail with +2 cold resistance though1 point

What do you do once they're all black? Maybe the other slot would need to be filled on all-blacks with something detrimental. As the curse or price of their rank, so to speak. Maybe they angered a god and are forever doomed to walk in his shadow. However, they would get too strong and challenge its powers, so they are attacked and wounded for every spike of strenght until they break its hold. That could be: A set number of days on the island. A cursebreaker being born and slaying the apes. Some plot point that ends with the god appearing as a wanderer.1 point

Sooo, I forgot to take a screenshot because I was so amazed, but once in Story.Mode, when I was looking for Eve, (At first she didn't spawn so it took like, 7 days) and when I found her, she looked EXACTLY like the original Eve! She had all the main genes, same fur color, double runners legs, same snout, same tail, same eye color, same, everything! I was just amazed, I couldn't believe it.1 point

Hi pack! We discussed with the whole team and these are the results of the second community voting The following features will be implemented in the next update! More customization options for sandbox mode Unlock gene menu notifications Insectivorous nichelings New gene: Bat Head New gene: Savanna Horns Customizable and Programmable Gem Colors * Please note that this feature will be added in a way simpler way than suggested. Players will have the option to write down color codes in a special file in their game's folder. Additionally the new update will feature: New gene: Bat Wings (We already prepared these for the flight update) 2 new bears (These are Kickstarter rewards) Customizable animal names (Since we have customizable gem colors, this is a very low effort task. Players will have the option to write down names in a special file in their game's folder.) How where these features chosen? We evaluated the 20 highest rated features based on their effort in the sectors programming / art / game design. Higher voted features are priorised. The highest rated suggestion "More customization options for sandbox mode" is a big feature with a very high programming effort. So all other features chosen were required to have very low programming effort. We hope to release the next update in Q1 2019. Now, let's discuss what kind of stuff we want to be able to customize in the sand box mode Head over here to post your suggestions: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/forum/70-customization-options-for-sandbox-mode/ Cheers, Your Stray Fawn Team1 point

I have played this game for over 50 hours and I have NEVER found a wanderer with dominant or recessive short snout. Much less the starters. Now I know that short snout is a pretty useless gene, but I think that if wanderers frequently have crippled paws and bad eyesight (And let’s not forget rogue males. How do they survive?!), short snout should be at least possible for a wanderer to have. I don’t know if starters should be allowed to have it, since again, it is useless. I personally wouldn’t mind it but that’s cause I think it’s cute So let me know what you think about this. What are your opinions on short snout? also, if you can think of a short snout like head gene that serves a purpose, you can post it here as well.1 point
