The devs game me Nimbatus, but I just couldn't really get into it. I really only play animal games. I just do. But if I liked stuff like Nimbatus I'd probably like it Anyways, I'm here for Niche. I check the forums for new stuff like every 10 minutes or so if I have access to a computer..4 points

This is actually not a suggestion for the game, but the forum: please add categories. That way it is easier to find certain ideas. My suggestions: - genes - NPC creatures - environment / islands / maps - ui (familily tree, ...) - other2 points
-
Maybe there could be mechanics and minor changes as other categories. Also Iβd totally organize everything too.2 points

Hmm that might make sense We do have a problem with double suggestions. Maybe it would help to have more separation. Would love to hear some more opinions ^^2 points

I've had rogue males and wanderers on ports a few times. They stay behind.2 points

Not that I know of. I once had a friendly bearyena on the ports when I travelled and he didn't come with us2 points

Not sure if I can answer it, but I have seen a post on Steam where the person accidentally took a Balance Bear with them... Yikes!2 points

Can you take other entities(a.k.a other creatures like rabbits, bearyenas, rogue males... etc) with you on the ports to another island?2 points

Alright, so I've seen some suggests asking for some type of creature creator/demo mode or whatever. I have been working on this for a while and I thought I'd make a new post since there's a lot more than just "A demo mode". This is gonna be mostly made up of pictures from what I call "Tutorial Mode" and I'll leave a link to a page with pictures without the text from tutorial mode. So first you can access this mode from the home screen like so: And then you would start at the creature creator (and to turn on tutorial mode you do this first (tutorial mode can be either be functional just with the yellow text or an example that goes away after you click)): Which can take you to either the creature list or the select mate screens which look like (also note that the scroll on the right on all screens is not accurate, and is just there to display its existence): (Where you can import creatures from save files like this: ) And confirming a breed brings you to the offspring list which is: Where there are trait statistics and custom filters (list of traits made by @Aysling here: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/626-nicheling-sort-filter-and-select/&page=0#comment-2030) : Or you can go to the punnett square: And from anything outside of the creature lists, you can go to the gem colors (which you can find individually here: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/646-customizable-and-programmable-gem-colors/) And the color cycle looks like this: And after all of that, you could use the creatures you used to start in sandbox mode like this: (Picture in production) So yea, that's all of it. Please let me know of any mistakes I might have made since this was a lot or of any logical inconsistencies. If you want to see the pictures without the text from tutorial mode, you can go to this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16dVKParfTHqHpSsuPD_UA_6cozEJ94_4Wtxpff6lIsE/edit?usp=sharing1 point

So I saw people drawing creatures for other people (likely for fun), and even though Iβm late may I jump on the bandwagon too? Iβd most likely do them digitally since Iβm lazy Also please submit creatures that are βeasyβ for me, since again Iβm lazy and Iβm just doing this to practice my new style Only example pictures I have atm: SEND ME YOUR SMOL CREATURESSSSSS1 point

@Basil - Thank you! It's been a busy week/weekend IRL, but I should be back to playing soon -- I really need to pick my tribe for Tiny Green. :\1 point

Wish I had more pics of my precious boy tho, might have jogged your memory better in a way? But this could be a sign that Meringue was with my Niche competition all along oo1 point

He reminds me of Meringue's uncle (on his mother's side), Red Delicious. Unfortunately all I can remember about him was that he had a derp snout. But that and his apple-themed name makes him very similar to your Apple (plus Red Delicious might have had spots and ram horns)1 point

Yeah, I forgot to write that my Ramfox ideas where basically the same. I only wanted to show that I would make it very similar, but with additional speed. I came to that idea with the 0 swimming, because i realized I already had selected 3 skill points for the Hindlegs and because I thought creatures unable to swim wouldn't be a problem, considering that your'e creatures, especially on cold islands, are most of the times on land. Giving birth to a creature with Ramfox Hindlegs and no other swimming genes in the water or sorrounded by rivers would of course be pretty bad, I admit. Regarding the difficulty of the Ape taming I think it would actually be quite good to combine our ideas: first abduct the babys and then feed them to maintain their loyalty I see the balance issue with the Giant Nose, Giant Ears and Giant Eyes, but I don't wan't them to disable each other so I also think now that the values you chose above are better (4 Smelling, 5 Hearing and 4 Eyesight). I don't think there is a problem with the Fur colors and camo, because you get the camo bonus of 2, if one of you're genes has it.1 point

I'd recommend looking at some anatomy and basing your scetches off of that and just either drawing from life or a lot of references that usually helps me a lot1 point

Why is everyone better at drawing than me? you would think i'd get better, since all i draw is cats, and I doodles them about 5 times a day. But, alas, I'm still not very good. I can only draw them in sitting and standing positions, too.1 point

4 creatures were killed: Two females were impregnated by a rogue male (I think it was the same one who impregnated Anaanala) and followed Mekoko into the grasses, thinking she would get them away from the swamp bugs. Thus, they went into the wilderness and had their babies, while Mekoko disappeared, never to be seen again. The females were eaten by carnivorous plants, and then their sons were eaten by those same plants as a Big Nosed Ape made sure they didn't escape alive. Moral: Mekoko is bad. It is rumored among my tribes that Mekoko, Anaanala (goddess of the Swamp), and Jungli and Jungla (goddesses of the Jungle) are all sisters. Now that I think about it, maybe Oz is related to them somehow (he shared some of their genes)...1 point

And here is Anaanala! @Skysplash8 I wanted to try a little harder this time so I did a full-body shot and a semi-background. I honestly think it turned out okay. Also I love how I made her look happy even though everything about her is depressing... And I tried to make her look pregnant, but uh But anyway, here you go! ^^1 point

I also play Nimbatus But I specifically came here for Niche1 point

The fix I did for the thrusters that did not fly straight when not attached to the core, also seemed to fix this bug. I'll update it soon.1 point
-
I own both because I bought Nimbatus to support the devs but I don't play both. Not really intersted in it (also kinda worried that I might become as obsessed with it as with Niche XD )1 point

Adam - The Lone Nicheling Sometimes Adam thought he'd been born to be alone. There'd been a time -- a long time -- when he'd hated it, when the days seemed pass endlessly, everything the same as it was the day before. But that time was long past. He'd made a life for himself in the wilderness. He'd learned how to hunt, how to make shelter, how to grow up, and he'd done it all on his own. Being alone didn't hurt like it used to, in those first few years after finding himself alone and abandoned. He was proud of it, proud of his ability to make a life for himself without anyone else around him. So when he left the island, making his way slowly across the sea bridge, it wasn't because he was lonely. No, Adam wasn't capable of loneliness anymore. He was happy being alone, thrived on it. No, it was something about the island. There was something that just wasn't right about it, even after all this time. The realization had come upon him suddenly, after years of contented living on his island. One minute he was hunting rabbils and the next he'd stopped suddenly, let his prey escape. Something was missing on his island, something indefinable. He didn't have words to describe it -- it just was. And as soon as he'd had that thought, he found he couldn't leave it alone. So he left his island. As he crossed the bridge, he didn't know where he was going. He just knew that wherever he ended up, it just had to be more right than the place he'd just come from.1 point

We could definetly make it to some extent. The question it, at what cost? It would be a HUGE amount of work to make each model (let's say berry paw) for each skin type. Also for new genes we'd always need let's say 5 times as many models as before. Then the question is: Is it cooler to have 5 new genes, each with unique mechanics or one new gene (but with 5 different skin types). I'm all over the idea of skin types, but I'm just not sure how to do it without adding a big draw back to adding new stuff ^^1 point
