  2. Deer are very common where I live, so sometimes a random doe can just waltz into our streets. I remember when I was younger and the neighbor’s dog chased a young buck once!

  4. Welcome a brand new clan - The Kingdom of Bakery! The Kingdom of Bakery is a clan ruled by a royal family of the strongest nichelings in the clan. The rest of the clan is divided into four factions: Farmers - Gatherers of fruit, nuts, and roots. They have pink gems. Hunters - Gatherers of meat and fish. They have orange gems. Healers - Healers of the clan and caretakers of young babies. They have blue gems. Warriors - Guards and fighters. They have red gems. When a pup becomes a teenager, they are shown a sacred crystal. The symbols they see on the surface decide what faction they belong to. If they see more than one symbol, they may choose between the two factions. I use this generator to decide. Settings are: Baby = 1, newborn Child = 7, time spent with the healers learning the traditions of the kingdom Teen = 14, where they shadow grown members of the factions to learn their role Adult = 100, plenty of time for stories Pregnancy = 7 Enemy damage = 10 Hunger damage = 5 Environmental damage = 5 Healing = 5 Our kingdom begins with nine nichelings, two of each faction plus one (and the royal family, of course). We start on an empty Home Island*, the perfect place for a burgeoning kingdom. From left to right, background to foreground: Hunter Kleicha, Healer Ma'amoul, Farmer Sugar, Queen Mooncake, Farmer Jammie, King Gingerbread, Hunter Panellets, Warrior Jaffa, and Healer Macaron. *The reason I picked home island is because I made it there once, but my nicheling died before she could recruit any of Adam's clan. It's also very large. King Gingerbread - Firm, even-tempered King Gingerbread is a little rough about the edges. He really loves Queen Mooncake and pretty much worships the ground she walks on. He's very intelligent but not the best at social interaction. Queen Mooncake - Endlessly kind and understanding, queen Mooncake has a birthright to Home Island, carrying the associated immunity gene. She really loves King Gingerbread and can't wait to get their clan and their own family started. Farmer Jammie - Sweet, dutiful, and jovial Jammie can make just about anyone smile and laugh. He has a way with plants and people agree that it was no surprise he was put in the farmer faction. He's very close to his fellow farmer, Sugar. Farmer Sugar - Quiet, unassuming, and meek is usually how others describe Sugar. She is a quiet presence and usually avoids conflict whenever possible, even at detriment to herself. She really only hangs out with Jammie. Hunter Kleicha - This subtle huntress is known for being nearly silent normally. Supposedly, she has no tongue after it was torn out as a kit, but Panellets swears that she talks sometimes. Nonetheless, she's a great listener and a peerless hunter. Hunter Panellets - Panellets is an active, relatively casual hunter. He takes pride in his work but is usually the first to slack off if there's nothing to do. He makes friends very easily though and is generally likable. Healer Ma'amoul - Ma'amoul is a very stuck-up nicheling. He often seems to confuse the importance of his rank with the importance of himself quite a bit, and so he comes off as very prideful and arrogant. Even so, he is a talented healer that is best tolerated when he doesn't talk. Healer Macaron - Macaron is seen as the PR nicheling for the healer faction, since Ma'amoul tends to stick his paw in his mouth or make someone very angry every time he speaks. She is measured, restrained, and almost eerily serene sometimes. Sometimes almost... detached. The kingdom begins...

  5. every day I ask this question: why do homework when you can make nichelings and the answer is that im just a terrible human being so lets begin I want to make the nicheling: -cool looking -not op -neat backstory -that's pretty much it so we start with the question: backstory because that makes the rest easier so uhh I think it might be cool to make a rogue child, which easily makes her not op or anything but it would also automatically mean no pattern since all rogues have double no pattern I think I could also make a bearynea hybrid, I haven't had many hybrids in my games lately so I think ill go with hybrid, if you want to see a rogue child I might do one so I started thinking that I wanted a hybrid that was meant to be a warrior but hated killing things, so I wanted to 100% use the beak because it dominates bearynea snout and adds collecting instead of strength. then I added the bearynea genes, and when thinking of patterns I decided to use a red brown fur and red pattern, I saw it on someones savefile I downloaded and it looked cool. by then I had the realisation I had made a mekoko clone, so I guess some neat backstory could be that shes actually mekoko, who reincarnated herself to try and redeem her actions as a goddess? then I realised that I had made an op nicheling, so I decided she would be infertile, which could be mekoko still showing her selfishness and not wanting to pass on her goddess strength to any children. paw wise, she had to have a bearynea claw, but I decided on an added velvet paw. it would show her gentleness, and also reflect mekoko as she had a running leg with her bearynea claw, and this would be a new version to suit her new reincarnation's kindness. there were no horns because shes a hybrid, and no recessive horns either because this creature already had some good genes the tail was normal tail also because hybrid, and I gave her recessive swimming tail because yes I was thinking of giving her medium body, but then I decided to give her webbed hind legs so adding speed seemed to be necessary. also, I wanted to give her as little strength as possible. for the actual pattern, I found a nice one whilst randomising and I kept it I chose some nice matching gem colours, and for the name I didn't do a warrior name; I wanted to edit mekokos name, but also my game glitched and all my syllables and colours are gone and I cant be bothered to add them again. I added a new update syllable to mekoko, and menoko it was! I really like her, and maybe I could make her siblings/ parents next!

  6. No one wants to stay here, as they know what the bugs can do, so they start moving toward the port to the east. bearyena already? They can't defeat the bearyena that day, but it runs away anyways. Meena passes away, but gives birth to Tigerlily with her dying breath. Tiki gets super old, so he goes ahead and confesses his love for Relen. She says she loves him too, and she is soon pregnant. By the way, a while ago I had said what genes I wanted the tribe to have, right? Well, I'm diversifying it some now. I'm letting everyone have armored body, medium body, or spiky body. The red gem line will become diggers. The dark green line will become fliers. Maybe the Yellow line will have it's own traits one day. Anyways, we move onto the next island. No one is left behind. We arrive at an island just like the one before the swamp. No North port, either. ugh. also earlier Skyapus could fly on top of a Crabbit. I knew that crabbits could spawn inside you, but not that you could actually fly into them. Okay then.

  11. And.. FEMALES! FEMALES! My heart actually beat really fast as I passed the day ahh Welcome, Queen Relen! Welcome, Isella! (the names were generated by the game and they're such good names ) What a beautiful Queen! Perhaps the most beautiful since Amethyst. Prince Arctic, waking from sleep, finds a swarm of bugs around him. He gets away as fast as he can, warning the rest of the Kingdom as he goes. However, Sira does not hear him as she stumbles past so she can eat the Healing Fruit to heal her injuries. Kirvanno protects her by standing inside the swarm so that it will not go after Sira. Kirvanni stands beside his twin in front of Sira, so that, if the swarm doesn't give Kirvanno the sickness, it will have to go through Kirvanni too. Tiki/Kinarri attacks the Defender Bear a couple more times before fleeing again. Princess Amber is angry that a tiny newborn child took away her chance of becoming Queen. She attempts to leave the newborn Queen and her brother alone in hopes that the Bluebread will take them. Meena protects the Queen, but the Prince goes unprotected through the night. Thankfully he grows up and is able to protect himself now. Kirvanno gets the Sleeping Sickness.

  13. A brief explanation of factions: Farmer - Gathers berries, roots, and nuts Hunter - Hunts prey Warrior - Guards the clan, challenges intruders, and kills predators. Healer - Heals the clan and watches pups. When a pup turns into a teen, they are taken to a sacred crystal. The symbols that appear on the crystal decide what faction that kit can join. The first few days on the island are uneventful. King Red Velvet spots an oak tree in the distance and decrees that the clan will head there. Nearby is a small hill which will make an ideal throne room for him and the queen. Ballokume leads the charge through the grass, Alfajor stalks a stagmole, and Apas and Bredela pause to gather some berries for the clan's dinner. Finally, they make it to the tree. Around the tree are not one, not two, but four berry bushes and abundant roots. Cheesecake is elated and decrees that this is where the clan will stay for the time being. Apas and Bredela get to work harvesting berries and roots, chatting about their good fortune. Ballokume is put on duty guarding the bushes from pesky rabbils. Alfajor goes off in search of something good to hunt. The king and queen set up in their quiet throne room. Cheesecake entertains herself by clearing the grass and nibbling on berries from a nearby bush. The king by the head of the hill, watching the rest of the clan from a distance. One day, Bredela is gathering some roots when she smells a stranger! Though she's tempted to call Ballokume, she instead decides to investigate on her own and finds a deformed pup hiding behind a rock. "Oh goodness me, what are you doing here all alone?" she asks, sounding thoroughly shocked. "Mama didn't want me no more" the kit replies, his words twisted strangely due to his malformed jaw. Bredela is horrified and immediately gives the kit some food and takes him in. Red Velvet comes over to ask what the farmer has found. "A kit!" she declares. When Red Velvet casts the little scrap of a fur a withering glare, Bredela steps forward again. "Look at his paws" she starts, trying to make her case. "He'd make an excellent farmer" she adds. Though pups are not assigned by leaders normally, Red Velvet (thanks to some convincing by Cheesecake), decides to relent this one time. Biscotti walks over to tend to the pup and the matter is considered settled. The clan continues to move. Alfajor and Biscotti chat while Biscotti collects some healing herbs from the grass. Apas and Bredela work together to teach Bitasa the ways of the farmers. Ballokume deals with a truly impressive amount of bunnils all trying to get at their precious berries. With things going so well, the king and queen decide it is time to expand the royal bloodline. They mate, and soon Cheesecake is pregnant with her first child. "Oh, I hope it's a girl. I'd love to have a little princess" Cheesecake swoons. Red Velvet would rather have a good, strong son to take over the family line, but doesn't speak his thoughts out loud in front of his mate. Apas and Bredela, having grown quite close over their teaching of Bitasa and their shared duties, also decide to start a family. Off to the side, Alfajor is hunting when she is suddenly ambushed by a bearyena. Ballokume races over to help, but finds she was able to take care of it by herself. Ballokume is so lovestruck that he admits is crush. They decide to spend some more time together, and hopefully start a family of their own if things work out. Biscotti is out looking for herbs when suddenly, a tiny albino nicheling tumbles straight into her paws. "What are you doing out here, all alone?" Biscotti asks. "Please, you have to help me!" the terrified kit replied. Turns out, he was running from a bearyena. Ballokume and Alfajor work together to kill it, and the kit finally stops his trembling. Biscotti feeds him some food and invites him into the clan. Given he is much better looking than Bitasa, the king is much more willing to accept this decision. Two days later, Biscotti is called to the throne room. The queen is giving birth! Cheesecake gets her wish and bears a beautiful daughter she names Angel Cake. The entire clan gathers to give the queen their congratulations, and to see the lovely young princess. Angel Cake promises to be every bit as pretty as her mother. Though he sort of wanted a son, the king falls in love with his daughter and promises to teach her how to be a great ruler. Everyone is happy for them. On the same day, Biscotti is called again! Now it's Bredela giving birth. She bears a daughter as well, who she dubs Chocolate Chip. She has the same funny face as her parents, but who knows what she might accomplish? The sacred crystal often seem to have a unique sense of humor. Angel Cake takes her first steps out of the nest the next day. Though she's not very graceful now, nearly faceplanting due to her large horns, Red Velvet steadies her with a paw. Everyone is surprised about how gentle he is, normally being rather firm and harsh, but he seems to have a velvet paw when it comes to his newborn daughter. Cheesecake is so happy to see it, she remembers why she loves him now. Meanwhile, Alfajor and Ballokume have decided to start a family on their own. Everyone wonders what their child will look like. After all, Ballokume is not full blooded nicheling. A peaceful bear approaches Bitcotti while she is out gathering herbs. She decides to give it some nesting material, even though the queen demands a constant supply of nesting material to maintain her special nest in the throne room. Chocolate Chip takes her first steps from the nest, watched by the proud eyes of her mother and father. The clanmates offer their congratulations to the new parents. The queen even comes out to say hello to the new baby. Biscotti is happy she gets to look after such a nice, mild-mannered kit. Upopo grows into a teenager and is taken to the crystal. Inside he sees two symbols: An herb and a rabbil. "Which one do you choose?" the king asks. Upopo glances between Biscotti and Alfajor. Alfajor has always been polite, but Biscotti was the one who found and saved him... "I will join the healer faction!" he declares. "Oh wonderful, a new charge that I can lavish all my healing wisdom and expertise!" Biscotti purrs excitedly. She promises to put his nimble fingers to good use gathering medicinal herbs and berries. Two days later, Alfajor gives birth to her baby. It's a son she names Abernethy. He seems to have gotten the best of both his father and mother. Everyone gathers to wish her congratulations. Upopo also got some valuable experience helping mothers give birth. Biscotti is already loving having an apprentice. The king and queen decide to try again, this time hoping for a boy. The princess continues to take steps around the throne room and near the camp, always accompanied by her father. She starts greet and get to know her clanmates. Everyone adores how polite and sweet she is. Angel Cake promises to be a popular ruler. A long drought is finally broken by rain. Everyone stays near the shelter of the acorn tree while the king ushers his daughter back to throne room. Abernethy takes his first steps from the next, watched closely by Alfajor and Biscotti. Abernethy proves to be a handful of a pup, and Biscotti and Upopo have their hands full trying to watch both him and Chocolate Chip. The princess grows into a teenager, and her education in politics, leadership, and traditions begin. Chocolate Chip grows into a teenager and is taken to the crystal. On the surface, she sees a berry and a rabbil. Happy to join her parents, she eagerly chooses to join the farmer faction. Bredela and Apas practically burst with pride when they hear the news. Some time later, Abernethy hits his teen years. He is taken to the crystal where he sees a rabbil. He's part of the hunter faction! Alfajor could not be prouder. A rogue male lurks near, trying to get to Bredela, but Ballokume successfully fends him off. Not too long after, the queen gives birth again, this time to a son named Basbousa. He's a little rough and tumble, just like his father, but the king is ecstatic. However, the queen packs up her nest, shocking the king. However, as though he has read her thoughts, he nods and calls the clan together...

  15. Some of ya'll bout to be real mad at me, but it must be said. Camels are so underrated! They have so many unique adaptions and look so cool (especially bacterian camels), to me at least. And they can come in quite a bit of colors, which people don't usually realize. In conclusion, they're great. But anyway I was thinking of some new genes the other day and I came up with two, one of them being a camel hump/camel body. I call it the Hump Body but there might be a better name for it. What the hump body does is store fat in it's hump by gathering food (like camels) which eventually gets full. A hump body nicheling will get 1 day's worth of fat stores for every 2 days (maybe longer or shorter depending on creature's longevity) the tribe is fully fed. From there they can use these stores as food for however many days their hump allows them, while simultaneously gathering food for the tribe. (Credit to @Pokestardragacraft and @BirdsAreCool for improving on this ability!) Your nicheling will be able to choose when they start using their stored fat. What I mean is if they have say, 2 days worth of fat, from there they can live off of it for two days and don't have to wait to get a full hump. I believe camels can control how they use up their fat so this would be pretty useful. Stats: +1 Heat resistance +1/2 Food Storing/ Fat Storing (this skill could probably be the same skill given to other food "storing" genes: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/3737-cheek-pouches/#comment-17229 https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/2135-new-tail-blubber-tail/ https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/4170-leopard-gecko-tail/ Maybe Hump Body can be unlocked by having a certain amount of nichelings starve? Or maybe having to collect an x amount of times and spend an x amount of time in a savanna. Edited some screenshots to give an idea of how it could look in game:

  21. Topaz and Prince Arctic fall in love. Topaz becomes pregnant with his child, though he tragically passes away the next day. Apparently he once had a leech that sucked some life out of him. Kirvanni also passes away. Kirvanno is devastated and insists to spend his final day with his brother's bones. Queen Relen is now a teen. She insists upon the killing of the Defender Bear. Just as the three teens (Relen, Isella and Birch) find the Defender Bear, Tiki kills it. The kingdom rejoices. Tiki offers the meat of the Bear to the Queen, and the Kingdom feasts. Though they no longer need to run, the Queen tells them that they will still move on. She realizes that she must choose only 10 creatures out of the 13 that remain. Sira insists that she must stay. Choco insists as well. No other creatures off er to stay, so the Queen has to make a decision. She decides that Princess Amber will stay too; the subjects told her about the horrible ways the princess had planned for the kingdom if she became Queen, and also how she tried to abandon the three children to the bluebirds. Queen Relen gets the Sleeping Sickness! Rotah tried to save her, but it was too late. The tribe must wait for their Queen. Meanwhile, Topaz has to have her child, for she is too old to wait until Queen Relen can get to the ports. Snowlily is born! The god/dess Savannah appears! Savannah is invited into the tribe. Rotah falls for her and she becomes pregnant. Since there is no room on the ports for her, Rotah himself insists that he stays so that his mate and unborn child can go. Savannah gets her own gem color of her line. (the yellow that was unused) Oh no! Is that Pheonix, coming to punish us for leaving creatures behind? RUN QUEEN RELEN Topaz passes away. The Queen is released from her sickness, but using up all her energy running to the port, she is still a few tiles away. Tomorrow we shall leave! Sira passes away. In Amber's anger, she destroys some thorns, but it mortally injures her and she dies. Time to leave! Yay! (Savannah doesn't look pregnant because I forgot but she thankfully had enough turns to run over, mate with him and run back) We arrive at our destination! (it doesn't have a North port. is it bugged?)

  25. Anepa - I am Anepa, the Elder's Cub, and I am pleased to admit that we, the Tribe of the Elder Bear, too strive for peace. While I do so wish to form an alliance with you, I am afraid that in such times of war, doing so may put us in great danger. I hope that you will forgive my acts of selfishness, and instead accept this gift from our tribe. *She nods at the nicheling beside her, and he steps forwards, placing a large, hollowed-out coconut shell filled with berries, nuts, and fish on the ground before him.* Wobble - Here you go! This is a gift from the Elder Bear. *He returns to his place beside Anepa* Anepa - Once again, I am very sorry that I can not form a true alliance with your group, but for now we shall do what we can to keep ourselves in good terms with you. Perhaps once this war has passed, we may finally be able to form a true connection between our tribes, though that time has not yet come. I will say that due to your dedication to peace, the members of your colony will be allowed upon our tribe's grounds without any of the restrictions that come with war. So for now, it is good bye. *A little while later Anepa comes running back.* Anepa - Sorry to bother you again, but I have just received news that the war ended a month ago. So, in that case, I would like to form an alliance with you. Our groups are both very alike and I feel that we could work well together, keeping peace and helping those in need. I apologize for the confusion, we patiently await your response.

  26. Entry 1: The problem with Bunnils Queen Mooncake surveys the Home Island. It's quiet, nearly empty, save for the abundant wildlife. The bounty of food is impressive, and the king and queen are excited to begin their kingdom. The clan moves forward. Warrior Jaffa leads the clan into the quiet island, keeping his senses out for danger but not sensing anything. The clan makes their way through the trees, admiring the great amounts of food with joy. Eventually they reach the heart of the island, where several permanent nests are nestled under a canopy of red oak trees. "We shall settle here!" King Gingerbread declares. The king and the queen leave to find a good spot to overlook the clan. Jammie and Sugar start to collect food. Jaffa patrols the edges of the clearing to ensure there is no danger. Kleicha and Panellets work together to hunt down some rabbils. The king and queen find a pair of side-by-side stumps which make for perfect thrones, and only just a few paces away from the heart of the territory. Life seems to be smooth for the first couple of days, then something happens. Bunnils. Bunnils happen. The normally harmless animals suddenly became pesky menaces that steal berries right from Jammie and Sugar's paws. Kleicha and Panellets have their paws full chasing down the bunnils. Jaffa struggles to protect the main two berry bushes from the bunnil plague. "Relax, my love, the bunnils may take berries, but we will take their meat!" King Gingerbread says, trying to reassure Mooncake. To the surprise of no one but Gingerbread, this doesn't make the queen feel any better. Eventually, the bunnil numbers begin to fall and the farmers figure out ways to get to the berries before the bunnils do. Things return to relative quiet. Surveying their abundant supplies of food, the king and queen decide it is time to expand the royal line. They mate, and the queen becomes pregnant. Just a day later, the queen lets out her usual greeting howl to the clan, and to her surprise, a baby nicheling stumbles out of the grass! "What is your name, little one?" Queen Mooncake questions quietly, well aware that Gingerbread is only gone for a bit and he tends to bite first, ask questions later. "P-Paprenjak" he replies shakily. "Well Paprenjak, would you like to join our kingdom? We will give you good food, and treat you well" the queen purrs softly. The kit seems happy and eagerly joins the clan. The queen introduces him to the king and asks that he makes sure he gets to the rest of the clan safely. With the queen now pregnant, the other females in the clan now want to start families. Macaron and Ma'amoul agree to mate. Sugar and Jammie, having always carried a close bond, decide to mate as well. Kleicha allows Panellets to mate with her, but doesn't even stop to rest, though her increasingly heavy belly did make hunting a bit difficult at times. Two days later, the queen gives birth to a prince named Banoffee. The small prince is heavily off balance due to his heavy horns and large head, but Mooncake rights him every time he falls over and eventually, he seems to get it. The entire clan comes to wish the queen well and see the new prince. He's very popular already. Mooncake brags that he looks just like his father, while Gingerbread watches proudly from a few paces away. Though he doesn't really understand it, Banoffee adores the attention he's given. Paprenjak grows into a teenager and gazes into the crystal of truth. He sees a bearyena and a bunnil. He thinks long and hard before deciding. "I will join the hunters!" he decides. "Excellent. You shall train under Panellets. Panellets, you are a skilled and dedicated hunter, I trust you to pass on your hunting skills to your apprentice" King Gingerbread says. Secretly, he's hoping having an apprentice will teach Panellets a thing or two about responsibility before his own pup is born. The next day, Kleicha gives birth to a boy that Panellets names Polvorón. Though she doesn't say a word, Kleicha is purring so hard that it nearly shakes the air around her. Despite her normally detached personality, it's clear she loves her son. However, her dutiful nature meant that as soon as he was in the protective paws of the healers, she went straight back to hunting duty. On the same day, Sugar gives birth to a daughter named Marie. She looks very much like her mother and father. She's very shy, and is a little afraid of the rest of the clan at first, but warms up a bit by the time she's out of the nest. Though busy helping the other mothers give birth, Macaron does eventually get to give birth to a very odd-faced son named Pignolo. There are rumors that Ma'amoul did not actually get Macaron pregnant, and that she mated with Panellets instead. Both nichelings firmly deny the allegations, but you can't deny that the resemblance is uncanny. Panellets continues to teach Paprenjak. Despite having one deformed paw, his apprentice is an excellent hunter with a talent for tracking. When the king comes to check on the clan, he is happy to see it has grown. he decides to make an area with quite a few nests in a safe hollow between some trees the 'official' nursery, and asks that the healers move all the pups over there. Polvorón comes of age and is taken to the sacred crystal. Within he sees a rabbil or a bearyena. "I choose to join the warriors" he decides. "Very well, you will train under Jaffa. Jaffa, you are a brave and strong warrior, I trust you to pass on all you know to Polvorón" King Gingerbread says, looking at Jaffa. The mentor and apprentice begin training immediately, Jaffa showing Polvorón the border and the berry bushes they must protect from the bunnils. Panellets and Kleicha are proud to see their son begin his training. In quiet, they discuss perhaps giving Polvorón a sibling soon. They decide to mate again. Marie grows into a teen and goes to the crystal. Inside she sees an herb, a bearyena, and a bunnil. Looking at her scrawny but deft fingers, Marie knew she was not a good fit for either fighting or hunting. She had hoped to join her parents in the farming faction, but the crystal was absolute. She looked over at Macaron and Ma'amoul, who raised them all as babies. Both healers gazed back at her, keeping neutral expressions though the hope in their eyes was plain. "I will join the healers" she decides. "Very well, you will train under Ma'amoul. Ma'amoul, you are an intelligent and earnest healer. I trust you will pass on your knowledge to Marie" King Gingerbread declared. The healers are happy to have their newest recruit. Ma'amoul teaches her the fine art of raising pups, keeping away predators, and helping mothers give birth. Though Marie cannot purr, the two healers are certain she can make a great caretaker for the younger generations. Happy that their kingdom was doing so well, Gingerbread and Mooncake decide to have another child. The next morning, Mooncake races into camp to announce her pregnancy. Macaron and Kleicha, both pregnant, offer their congratulations and Macaron spends the day chatting with the queen and taking out a couple particularly bold bunnils. Pignolo grows into a teenager. On the crystal surface he sees... a berry. "Very good. Jammie, you are a patient and dedicated farmer. I trust you will pass on all your know to Pignolo" Gingerbread says. Pignolo looked down. He didn't know what he had been wanting, but he didn't want to be a farmer. But the crystal was absolute, and Pignolo reluctantly took his place next to his mentor. The prince grows into a teen and his parents begin instructing him in being a proper ruler, politics, and the importance of the royal family. He's seen here in one of his classes. The queen is pregnant with her second child. Panellets teaches his apprentice how to properly stalk a stagmole. Paprenjak waits... comes closer... success! The young hunter gets to bring his kill to the healers in the new nursery. They lavish the young hunter with praise and Paprenjak leaves feeling much more motivated. Jammie and Sugar decide to have another child. The proud father can be seen here next to his pregnant wife. In the background, Polvorón is learning from Jaffa on how best to guard the berries from stealing bunnils. He's quite the little exterminator. The new nursery. Ma'amoul watches from a nearby tree stump while his apprentice Marie and healer Macaron stay near the nests, ready to tend to mothers or pups in need. Kleicha is here, about ready to give birth to her second child. The trees make for a cozy, almost waterproof cover over the nests. It's the perfect place for the healers to tend to the young mothers and the wounded. Ma'amoul is instructing Marie on how to help Kleicha through labor and teaches her about important herbs to give to mothers. Marie listens eagerly, absorbing all the information while cracking some nuts for Kleicha and Macaron to nibble on. Paprenjak grows up into a full hunter! Panellets is proud to see his apprentice grow up. Despite his deformity, Paprenjak takes great pride that he still managed to become an excellent hunter. He hopes to be given his own apprentice one day. Through the night, there is great commotion in the nursery. In the morning, the healers step back to reveal two healthy kits. Both girls. Macaron names her daughter Rosette. The young Rosette looks much more like both of her parents, and nobody doubts her parentage. Pignolo starts becoming bitter about his father's poor treatment of him. Macaron assures him that she loves both him and his sister, no matter what everyone else says. Panellets names his daughter Pizelle, a little girl nearly as silent as her mother is. However, she was the first to step out of her nest to immediately bat at an acorn beneath a tree with tiny paws. Kleicha gently nudges her daughter back into the nest with a sound like laughter. Panellets couldn't be happier. Polvorón peeks in briefly to see his little sister before going back to his training with Jaffa. Jaffa protects Pignolo's berry bushes from a bunnil. Success! Pigolo and him shared it for dinner. Pignolo appreciates Jaffa's help and thanks him for the meal. He wakes feeling a little better about his position as a farmer. The queen gives birth to the most gorgeous twins ever. The two are named Princess Oreo and Prince Peppermint. The proud parents couldn't be more happy. What a fortuitous sign of the royal line's fertility and greatness! The clan gathers to greet the twins, who gaze in wonderment at the smiling faces around them. Both are immensely curious pups and the king and queen have their paws full keeping them within close range. Farmer Sugar births another girl, named Semprong. Polvorón is assigned to escort her to the nursery. The young guard is eager to have his first real mission and saves her from a 'savage' bunnil. Jaffa firmly reminds his apprentice to stay close by, and Polvorón sobers enough to get Semprong to the nursery without further incident. Healer Ma'amoul returns to the nursery after assisting Sugar during her labor. Pizelle and Rosette mature into teenagers. Pizelle is taken to the crystal first. Deep within it's facets, she sees an herb and a bunnil. In one of her few moments of speaking, Pizelle says "I will join the hunters" and then falls silent. "Excellent. Paprenjak, you grew into a fine hunter despite the odds being against you. I trust you'll pass on all you know to young Pizelle" the king decides. Paprenjak is thrilled to have his own apprentice. "You better teach my daughter well!" Panellets jokes. Paprenjak nods nervously, but is secretly very excited to begin training Pizelle and promises to make her into the best hunter in the clan. Rosette is called forward next. In the crystal, she sees an herb, a bearyena, and a bunnil. Without a moment of hesitation, she answers. "I will join the healers!" she declares. Ma'amoul and Macaron are delighted to have their daughter join their faction. "Very good. Macaron, as her mother and her mentor, I trust you to raise Rosette into a healer the clan can be proud of" King Gingerbread nods, looking to the healer. Macaron nods and eagerly begins talking to her daughter about all the wonderful things she will learn as a healer. Rosette is excited to begin. She and Marie get along well.

  29. Treachery and Moonwalker announce they will be having a kit. Bandit dies suddenly of illness, and Treachery is heartbroken. Redemption dies as well. Moonwalker gives birth to a son who she names Rain. The tribe takes in a she-nicheling teenager. "And what is your name?" "Forest." She is taken to the Stones Of Temptation. Three stones light up- Sloth, Pride, and Gluttony. She is assigned to Gluttony. A bearyena comes at the clan, and Rainbow and Lightning take action. The beast kills Lightning, but Rainbow takes it down. Rain grows into a teenager, and it is time for his Coming Of Age Ceremony. "Funny. It's raining today," says Treachery to his son on their way to the stones. "Fitting, isn't it?" "I guess, but rain's sort of a common thing." "We named you Rain because it was raining hard the day you were born, you know." Treachery looks at the teenager. "Watch it, now. Rain just might be in more important events of your life." "I guess." "You're the first Inferno to be born from a leader of the tribe, you know. We've never had a male member of Lust, and I was the first male member of Pride." "For all we know, I'll be the next member of Lust, Dad." The two of them share a laugh. At the stones, two light up- Wrath and Lust. Treachery is shocked- his son's joke turns out to be accurate. "Maybe I should join Wrath, though," says Rain. Rainbow is old, after all- the tribe will need a new defender. He loves his mother, but she is managing Lust just fine. And he's not strong, but he is willing to give up everything for the tribe. He takes a deep breath. "Wrath. I choose Wrath." Rainbow dies, and though she taught him some valuable information, Rain is terrified of not being strong enough to protect the tribe. The Wrathling tries to brainstorm ways to ensure the tribe's protection, from searching for wanderers to offering nesting material to peaceful bears. Forest, now a Gluttony member, is foraging one day when she comes across a handsome teen named Bloodthirsty due to his body spikes and fangs. Intimidated but interested, she invites him into the clan to meet Treachery. Treachery is rather impressed with him, and they take him to the Stones Of Temptation. Three stones light up- Greed, Sloth, and Lust. He is put into Sloth by Treachery, which he dislikes. Wilderness dies. Rain is patrolling one day when he hears a low growl and feels a pit of dread in his stomach. It is his first true test of skill, and he is terrified. He orders Bloodthirsty to stand before the bearyena and act as distraction. Meanwhile, he sniffs the air- With him is another bearyena, but young! He has to get it to work with him. but first, he needs the older one out of the way. Fearlessly, he bounds at the bearyena. It claws at his legs, and Moonwalker helps lick his wounds when she can. With the direction of Rain, Bloodthirsty is successful bait- it costs Bloodthirsty his life, but saves the life of the tribe- and of Rain. Rain comes out scarred but victorious, and his father befriends the bearyena. Rain is hailed as a hero to the tribe. "You will be told of for ages, my son," says Treachery. Obsidian asks the permission of Treachery to mate with the tamed bearyena, to which he says yes. Shortly after Obsidian announces her pregnancy, Moonwalker finds and takes in an orphaned kit, naming her Jungle. Forest also asks to have a kit with the bearyena, and is permitted to. Unfortunately and inconveniently, Moonwalker dies of old age. This leaves Rain heartbroken, for she always believed in his fighting abilities most before the tribe was even attacked in the first place. Treachery is even more affected. In a state of emotional distress, he orders that the tribe move islands again. Forest votes to go east, Obsidian wants to go north and Rain, still depressed, seems apathetic. Frustrated, Treachery commands everyone to go West again. On the way, Jungle matures. In her case, one stone lights up- for Sloth. FInally, the tribe arrives on their new island. The kits are ready to be born- what will they look like? [CURRENT MEMBERS] PRIDE : Treachery WRATH : Rain GREED : Obsidian GLUTTONY : Forest ---- ---- SLOTH : Jungle

  30. This is awesome Perhaps to unlock it 30 nichelings would have to starve, I think that's the same amount as how many need to take damage to unlock the spiky body I'm a little confused about how it would actually work though? How would it fill up with fat? As for using it, I'd rather it be kept as an emergency food store for when there's not enough food to go round. Instead of using up the fat stores as soon as they're gained, they would be kept for when there isn't enough food for every nicheling. This would make more sense, why use up emergency stores when there's plenty real food to eat instead? Personally I think 2 humps would look better, but I'd be happy either way

  31. No, you can't get pregnant if your tribesize is say, 13, and you have 13 creatures. They just refuse to mate, as a pregnant nicheling counts for 2. I attempted to experiment on rogues, but the limit just never kicked in with lower tribesizes. Then it didn't kick in at all, so I do not know to this day what happens if you met a rogue with a limit of 1. Just that it completely broke my game and disabled any size limit.

  35. Sira smells a Dodomingo and tries to kill it with no luck, due to not being able to see where it is. Deathbringer kills it and offers the meat to her. They grow close. A Rogue Male appears! He hasn't impregnated anyone yet, though. A beautiful son is born from Meena and Takuduk. He already sports a name from the new update. He has Scorpion Tail, which is very, very good The Rogue strikes! Queen Kami is pregnant! However, Kami does not hate him. She instead loves him, for she may have never had more children. Also a Bearyena came up to Topaz but she killed it. Prince Arctic gets sick from the Rogue Male. Deathbringer passes away, and Sira loses her only friend. I tried to mate them but they had horrible fertility so it didn't work 😢 Princess Amber is impregnated by the Rogue Male as well! Unlike her mother, Amber hates him. She takes after the queens of the old ages; she wants a mate who has good genetics, rather than a mate who loves her. She is like Princess Meredith; she would throw a baby into the ocean if it didn't look like she wnated it to. Princess Amber manages to kill the Rogue, much to the Queen's horror. GUESS WHO SAW WHAT AMBER DID. My first Defender Bear too 😢 Amber must RUN. The rest of the tribe has to run too. They decide to run to the Swamp port. IT's COMING Tiki decides to attack the Defender Bear, but run too (attack and run). The tribe realizes he is a reincarnation of Kinarri; he looks and acts just the same! The tribe continues to run. A Prince is born! Tadukvan (that was his name, right?) passes away. Queen Kami knows she can not pass on the throne to Amber; Amber would bring back the traditions that Queen Amethyst had discarded. Kami announces that any male who is willing to be her mate must step forward. Only Rotah steps forward. (there were other males I wanted to breed ehr with more, but they were all too far away.) Thus, Rotah is a very lucky creature and gets to be the father of hopefully the next Queen. If it is a male, the kingdom will be doomed to Amber's ways. Isili is pregnant too, so both of the females settle down in their nests. (Meena decides she will wait until later to have her child.) With Kami's dying breath, she orders the unthinkable: if her third child is a male, but Isili's is a female, then Isili's duaghter will become the next Queen. The Kingdom is horrified by this decision, especially Amber. Will Amber do something even more unthinkable in order to receive the throne? The entire kingdom holds their breath as the two mothers give birth. Will the Queen give birth to a second daughter? Will she have a son, and Isili's own daughter becomes Queen? Or will Amber take the throne and doom the kingdom to the unthinkable?

  36. Treachery slowly opens up to Excitement, and they grow a bond. She sees more and more of Ambition in herself as she speaks to him. Bandit comes of age soon after. Treachery, who had watched her all this time, sits anxiously with Excitement. Two stones light up- one for Envy, and one for Gluttony. "You will be assigned to Envy," says Excitement. "We need members for that faction." "Envy? I haven't met anyone who's from Envy," he says. "Envy hasn't had members for a very long time," answers Excitement. "They mostly do whatever their own heart desires. However, they don't speak to other members outside of their own faction, unlike everyone else." "...Interesting." Stalker soon announces that she is going to have a kit, and the father is her factionmate, Musk. The clan rejoices. Lightning becomes an adult, and Redemption mates with him. Eventually, Stalker gives birth to her kit- a beautiful daughter. "What beautiful horns!" Compliments Trinity. "What'll you name her?" "Probably Obsidian. For those horns," says Stalker. Lightning also brings in an orphaned male kit from his patrol. He gives him to Trinity. "I'll call him..... Vengeance." "You got some unresolved anger, huh, Lustling?" Trinity dies, so stalker is a stand in caretaker for her daughter and for Vengeance. Unfortunately, Excitement also dies. At least we have Treachery to take over. That being said... He's terrified! He has no idea what he's doing. Heck, he's not even tribe-born! Redemption has her kit- she names her Moonwalker. Vengeance comes of age. Four stones light up- Sloth, Envy, Greed, and Wrath. "Go into Sloth," says Treachery. "We need members for that faction." Musk mates with Rainbow. Treachery grows into a full adult, making him the absolute leader of the tribe. Obsidian grows into an adult and is taken to the Stones of Temptation. One stone lights up-- that of Greed. She becomes a member of the Greed faction and takes her place beside Persuasion exploring. Moonwalker is of age now, and they take her to the Stones Of Temptation. 3 stones light up-- Gluttony, Lust, and Envy. Moonwalker is assigned to Lust.

  40. Some more! Vankirvan: another of the not-yet-introduced club. I had fun with his design, it's kind of silly but fun. Where else can you get away with a toxic catbeaversquirrelfrog? Some secondary characters I came up with to fill out the new island explorers' ranks. Kind of designed them to look like early game unspecialised creatures. And as a bonus, a cave-style Tata, from an in-story creation myth about how nichelings got their different genes and Tata, being Tata, ruined it for everyone: Oh, and here's the story all these guys are from: Snowtouched. (take this down if it's not allowed?)

  43. By mission-completion 'points', I refer to the ticks on a planet that indicate how much it contributes to unlocking new pathways. I think these would provide a great source of progression 'points'. They don't mandate you take missions you don't like, but they also don't mandate that you take on challenging missions at a certain strength - you can go complete less challenging missions to open up your options and capabilities first. You can completely unlock a galaxy to gain progression in earlier galaxies, or just forge ahead. I think we need to get every block type on a tech tree used to unlock access to parts. Start the tech tree with the basic core, small thruster, small energy, small fuel tank, 1x1 armor, the if/not/button logic blocks, yellow ore containers and harvesters, and a basic blaster/laser. I think we also need to implement a part count limit to normal missions, and use this tree to unlock increases to the part count you can implement on a mission. Increasing part counts should get increasingly expensive, but they should never stop being available, in my opinion - there should be no limit to how big a player can go. Some parts it should be impossible to avoid progress in, specifically sensors or logic. It's unfair to ask a novice player to choose between unlocking XOR gates or an altimeter, and rocket launchers or armor blocks. It's simply not a fair choice to present until they know the use of those parts. At least some of these should be unlocked at the start, and a player should not have to sacrifice guns and thrusters to also unlock logic. (Maybe logic and sensors use the green resource exclusively, so their investment doesn't interfere with other investments.) We should consider requiring players to recover basic parts, too. For instance, recover and restore three blasters before you can equip three. This would provide an organic way to limit, but also expand specific capabilities. Parts should be relatively common, and there should be a way to seek specific types of parts, or even buy parts to fill out a particular part of your collection that might be weak. The goal isn't to hold a player back, but to provide free expansion as a reward and an accomplishment, instead of a default.

  44. Get every part into the workshop, such as weapons are, to broaden resource investment into more areas, and extend the appeal of harvesting and customization. I recognize that weapons are inherently different from other parts - but the weapon workshop is fun, and I believe this will pay off in player engagement, and just plain fun. Everybody wants upgrades or modifications to the way all sorts of things work. We want drills that can harvest resources instead of destroying them, we want TNT that has a small AOE, or that applies elemental effects instead of damage, or that pushes instead of damages. We want decouplers that apply force or self-destruct, (Explosive decouplers), distance sensors to detect in an arc and blast shields and blah blah blah. Rather than new parts or new settings, all of these things are prime candidates for additions via upgrade/downgrades. With regards to the UI, weapons and other items both shouldn't be duplicated in the UI; instead, when you click on the basic blaster or any customizable block, you should pop up a list window on the UI displaying all the customized versions you've built. Since they all look so similar, they should also display the name you assigned to them. From what I understand of weapons and upgrades, this is a big ask because weapons are fundamentally different from most blocks. But I think this can contribute a lot to progression, the offering of strategic choices, and fun.

  45. 'Gate' wormholes and lucrative missions that you have one shot to complete. Use the asynchronous competitive game modes Nimbatus uses now; but give the player an advantage in the campaign, permitting active control. Other advantages may also be available. A player shouldn't have to be a competitor to be able to beat the campaign, in my opinion. Like any in-game solar system, provide more than one mission type to gain access. You might have the option to win a race, beat a sumo bot, or fight a battle with a combat drone. (When racing and combat arenas open.) Thus a player who hates races shouldn't HAVE to race. I think that pulling player-designed drones into the campaign will be crucial in forging dynamic and challenging opponents. Right now any scripted challenge can be defeated with specific engineering counters. Pulling drones with a certain range of rankings should provide an increasing challenge. You should quickly dump encounters with very weak drones, but the rate at which the pool narrows will slow down as you advance more and more, so it'll never narrow the pool so much that there's no variety. Rankings for these drones should increase as you progress; every successive galaxy should shave the bottom 15% off the drone pool. (Or whatever percent.) Not taking the upper 85, 70, 55%, but the upper 85%, 72%, 61%, etc. This has the advantage of being mathematically simple: (100 * (0.85 ^ current galaxy number)). Shaving 10% off the lowest-ranked drones each galaxy, you'll be facing the top 10% of ranked drones after 22 wormholes. Shaving 15%, you'll face the top 10% after 14 wormholes. At 20% per jump, you'll get there in 10.
