Hi guys! No I haven't abandoned this post haha^^ I can't dedicate as much time as I'd like to drawing but I'll keep drawing your beautiful nichelings @Aetherskye Here is your Snocat! I'm not really good at painting white creatures but I've tried my best 🤣 Hope you like it! I'll continue drawing the rest of the nichelings you've suggested, but don't expect very often updates, since I prefer being meticulous and slow than hurrying with each picture4 points

Since we've been blessed by an artificial invasion of wanderers, there might aswell be a challenge about it. Naturally, no children. Any island with hot to moderate temperatures will do. 30 was a good lifespan for normal challenges, so I'd recommend 50, Predators x2-3, enviroment 0. No healing. Additional rules: -- limited console use. Pick a good trait and a bad one. Then have a generator roll for "0", "1" and "2". 0 is no new trait. Alternatively, if you have warrior names, fix 2-3 traits to the name. "Lighteye" might be blind or shortsighted. Dapplefrost should have spots on white fur, Sterlingclaw better strenght, etc. -- seasons! That's right, less food for the one pawed army. In all seriousness, try a simplified version: For every 8 days with access to berries, restrict use for 4. Hunt prey or crack nuts, but no fruit. You can add or remove resources from that, but counting days too much isn't fun. No unlimited fridge. Unfortunately, food points only hold so long. Give yourself a maximum: 5 food for every nicheling, no more. What to do with your new free time? Collect nesting material. Once you reach 500, the challenge is complete.2 points

After posting the blue-eyed baby suggestion I started thinking about other things that could be added for little nichelings. And so I came up with playing and chasing. Baby animals playfight, spar, chase each other and prey items, climb, just have a good time you know. But these activities benefit the baby for it's future as an independent adult. When baby bears playfight they sharpen fighting skills, when horse foals chase each other they build muscle that will let them run faster. Any nicheling will have the potential to gain +1 Strength, +1 Defense, or +1 Speed if they have 3 or less on that stat (if they have 4 or more on any of these stats then they can't get a bonus). But only if they playfight/chase as a baby or child a certain amount of times. So make sure they have siblings or cousins, cause if not they're getting nada Playfighting would just be an action where you hover over a young nicheling with another young one (baby and child stages) and select playfight. Playfighting will give your nichelings a chance at having a bonus stat (+1 strength or defense) when they become teens/adults. -This can possibly depend on who they play with. For example if a baby plays with a child then when the baby is grown it will get a defense bonus, since it had to defend itself against the larger child. This could be vice versa also, with the child getting strength for fighting the baby. -Or their bonus could instead depend on their actions. If one youngster is always initiating the playfighting then it might get a strength bonus, while the one who is at the end of the action often might get a defense bonus. Playfighting can perhaps be extended to mock-fighting in teenagers that will also give bonuses. *** Chasing would work differently, and by this I mean chasing prey. Rabbils are the only small land animals available so baby and child nichelings could "pounce" or "attack" on a nearby rabbil. The rabbil will not get hurt and will skitter away, but this gives the baby a chance at having a speed bonus. The baby/child (and possibly teen) will need to do/be the recipient of the action 4(?) times to get a bonus, and this number can increase if your nichelings live longer due to changed settings. Blue eye suggestion:2 points

With defenders... they land a maximum of three attacks in revenge A nichelings "bad" stat can only be reset by being hit Hunting is more offensive to the defender than anything else They may attack a random nicheling when the offender is not around. Leaving nichelings in their movement range of 2 is hence not save. A nicheling who has not offended the defender personally is generally hit only once Whether your nichelings die or not makes no difference to them. They only care about landing a set number of attacks So it's better to let it kill someone than wasting turns at times. It sucks that they can smell you, but you can't sense them often enough, but they need a reason to attack, then stop when vengeance is achieved. If only one is around, kiting may be viable, though. They'll always go for hunters. In the case of Rust, when it did not hit you back, you can be 100% sure that they'll have their sights set on someone more "bad".2 points

Here's the log for the second session, Pollyanna's Quest 2. I had learned my lesson and started on Grass Mingle this time. I actually started it the same day as the first session - right after the previous failed - and finished it the same day. This clan probably lasted around 21 days. With this file, I've learned my lesson: don't even try to hit a defender bear. Even if you don't hurt it, it will retaliate. (The starting creatures, from left to right, counter-clockwise: Tiko, Nivan, and Meelki.) SESSION 2 ----------------- File is "Pollyanna's Quest 2," starting on Grass Mingle. IMPORTANT CREATURES - TIKA, a cream female nicheling with darker spots and blue eyes. She is the STARTING FEMALE, and can dig and swim. - NIVAN, a gray male nicheling with huge ears. He is the STARTING MALE, and can hunt and gather. - MEELKI, a black male nicheling with spines and a platy bill. He is the STARTING CHILD, and he can hunt and swim. - KOEL, a melanistic female nicheling with a derp snout. TIMELINE Day 1: Tika and Nivan discover that Meelki is sickly. Day 2: Tika is avoiding Meelki, but Nivan is still kind to the child. Day 4: Meelki discovers a permanent nest. Day 5: Tika moves into the nest and discovers Koel, who is melanistic. Meelki decides she will be a forager. Day 6: Tika begets Ronunu, Nivan's son. Day 7: Meelki accidentally sickens Nivan, and Tika becomes increasingly agitated. Day 9: Tika is sickened, too. Nivan attacks a bearyena. Day 10: Meelki dies of illness, but not before advising Nivan to investigate the bearyena. Day 11: The bearyena kills Nivan. Tika begets Kuen, a son. Day 13: The bearyena approaches the nursery, and an enraged Tika finally kills it. Koel, knowing Meelki's wishes, rescues the bearyena cub. Koel and Tika get into an argument about who would be the next Moonseer. Tika wants Kuen to be the Moonseer, because his fur color matches the legendary Pollyanna's. Koel refuses, saying that Meelki wanted her to be the next one. Tika is extremely angry, and Koel tries to calm her by promising she would train Kuen. Tika continues to be angry. Day 15: Tika delivers Tais and dies, while Kuen is suddenly killed by an unfriendly bearyena. Koel interprets this as a punishment against Tika. Day 16: The mean bearyena kills Tais. Ronunu invites Lurlur (with Koel's permission). Everyone decides it is best to leave the mean bearyena. Koel declares Ronunu to be a hunter, and Lurlur a carer. Day 17: Ronunu grows up, and Koel names him Rust. Rust kills the harassing bearyena. Day 18: Koel begets Aname, child of a rogue, but flees from a defender bear. Rust foolishly tries to attack the bear, but fails. Day 19: The defender bear does not attack Rust, and Lurlur scolds him. Day 21: Koel gives birth to Donno, child of the bearyena, but the defender bear kills Koel. Everyone harasses the defender bear, and everyone ends up dying.2 points

This is the log for the first session, Pollyanna's Quest, which started on the island type First Snow. It lasted only 40 days, (The starting creatures, from left to right: Tiko, Meelki, and Nivan.) SESSION 1 ----------------- File is "Pollyanna's Quest," starting on First Snow. IMPORTANT CREATURES - TIKA, a gray female nicheling with yellow eyes. She is the STARTING FEMALE. She can dig and fish. - NIVAN, a tan male nicheling with black eyes. He is the STARTING MALE. He can hunt and swim. - MEELKI, a black male nicheling with long horns. He is the STARTING CHILD. He has no useful paws. - KILIKI, a blue, spotted female nicheling. She has toxic body, and is the second Moonseer. She dies of starvation, and feeling like she was a failure. TIMELINE Day 0: Tika, Nivan, and Meelki arrive on the island. (interestingly, Tika carries striped pattern, Nivan carries spots, and Meelki carries mask.) (Despite having no paws to use, Meelki is very brave.) Day 1: The trio begin to explore. Day 3: Meelki is a teenager now. Day 5: Tika gives birth to a daughter, Kilen. Her father is Nivan. (Kilen is spotted and has toxic body.) Day 6: Nivan finds a colony of Rabbils. Day 7: Meelki helps hunt. Day 9: Meelki is now an adult. Day 11: Kilen is declared a carer by Meelki. Day 13: Meelki befriends a Peaceful bear. Day 17: Meelki decides the clan needs to leave the island. Day 21: Nivan dies. Mira is born. Day 23: Tika dies. Day 26: Meelki, Mira, Kilen, and Lakita travel. Day 27: After the stresses of travel, Meelki announces Lakita a hunter and Mira a Forager. Meelki attacks a cactus, and dies. Day 28: Everyone mourns, but Lakita gives birth to Kiliki, a rogue's daughter. Kiliki has a crippled paw like Meelki, so she is chosen to be the next Moonseer. Day 30: Kilen begets Pripri, her and Meelki's son. He is ill. Kilen also discovers Iskkir. Day 32: Kilen dies of starvation. Day 33: Lakita dies, too. Day 34: Mira, pregnant with Iskkir's child, finds more food. Day 37: Mira dies of starvation, leaving behind her daughter, Milenana. Day 39: Kiliki dies of starvation. Day 40: Milenana is killed by a Bearyena.2 points

Ah yes, as soon as I get back I find Grandmother getting attacked by a bearyeena. Well, she has one strength and everybody else is a baby, so we're solving this with console commands. I mean, we just started, I'm not letting everyone get eaten just yet! (No pictures for right now... I'm writing this without internet.) Ooh! And it came with a baby! Grandmother tames it and takes it under her care. A few days later all the babies finally grew up! Now they can walk and... that's about it. I guess we'll just have to wait another 35 days until they become teens. In the mean time, Grandmother breeds with the now fully grown bearyeena. Though, the pregnancy duration has been set to 12 days, so nothing interesting is going to happen for a while. Two or three days later, everything starts to fall apart. Not only has another bearyeena attacked (I'm fixing this with console commands too) but we're also completely out of food! Luckily though, there's enough roots near us to fix this for now, but we'll have to keep this in mind for the future. Well, now that we've got that solved, we should focus on collecting nesting material, really boring. I'll post again once the little ones have grown up so we can start doing interesting stuff again.2 points

This is the story of Grandmother, the creator of all (my) nichelings, and how she created the world and stuff like that. Let's begin! (Argh! My setting is all messed up!) Okay, now that everything's fixed, here are my starters. Grandmother and the Embodiment of Purity / The First Nichelings, Anare (Female) and Dukvan (Male) It's Grandmother's job to make sure these two don't die instantly, so she'd better get to work. Sadly though, the only thing she can do is dig, so we've got a rough start. The game even teases us with rain, how rude! Ah well, we have plenty of food to last us until the little ones grow up (10 days) so we'll just pathetically flail at this bush until that happens. Well, looks like Grandmother found a bit of imperfection in her world. She names this wanderer Glblooth, and decides to care for it. The creature then thanks her in the only way it knows how... by giving her a cold. We'll call this little one the Embodiment of Imperfection / Spreader of Illness. Adorable. I then noticed that I messed up the age settings again, so I sent everyone off to a different world. I also improved (if you can call it that) Glblooth, so he fits his role better. He was originally a wanderer with random genes, so I made his genes more random! (I'm pretty good at making nichelings that seem randomly spawned, I made Grandmother from scratch!) And we finally found roots, so it looks like we've got a good start this time! Though, we don't have any renewable food sources within reach, so perhaps this isn't as good as I originally thought. Well, that's really all I can do for now... I'll bring more updates in the future!1 point

I find that when trying to create a flying creature, you need to have 2 wings for flying (obviously) but that gives you no way to collect berries. Yes the bird beak gives 1 collecting, but frankly it's not that great and while going to sleepy reeds with a bat creature can give a surplus of food from the fly swarms when combined with the stinky tail, that and termites appear to be the only efficient way of gathering food as a flying creature. That's why I'm suggesting a new tail gene: The monkey tail. Stats: Collecting 2 It'd be unlocked by doing something in the jungle, maybe killing an ape or all 3 apes, something difficult as 2 collecting on a non hand slot is very powerful.1 point

I love forest ideas. I wouldn't want to detract from anyones, so wont post mine separately, but here and see what the OP thinks. I rather think the more forests the better! The more biomes and islands the better even... with infinate possibilites although not sure there'd ever be as many as 100 island options to choose from but if there were... x: Small Woodlands (Easy Island) is a island larger than Tiny Island, but still smaller than most islands. It has oak trees only. Due to its small size it does not have any lakes, rivers, or ponds. It does not have many if any berry bushes as there are so many oak trees to gather nuts from. There are rabbils that spawn whether or not there are any berry bushes around, but there is clover they can eat from on the forest floor. (And maybe some other new prey animal - https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/4768-new-prey-squig/ ) Forest of Peace (Medium Island) - This is perhaps the size of the Peaceful Meadow, but it has many more trees. It has a few oak trees, but it also has other trees (if new ones are implemented). It has a variety of maple trees each one a different color - red maple leaf, yellow maple leaf, orange maple leaf, green maple leaf. Those with bird beaks can pick up the seeds which fall from the maples. There are also flowers (https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/2159-flower-tiles%E2%80%8B%F0%9F%8C%BA/ ) on the grassland tiles on the forest floor. A river or lake can spawn here due to its size. Nothing toxic can be found here. But mushrooms ( https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/2822-mushrooms-🍄/ ) may be found here. Forest of Tears (Hard Island) - Here the forest of tears can spawn a small swamp area or two. The predator spawn rates are higher. The forest here is filled more with weeping willows than any other tree. Due to the swampy area prey like the Nuybara ( https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/4756-new-swamp-prey-nuybara/ ) could spawn if introduced. And as rivers, lakes, ponds can spawn here a dangerous water based prey can maybe be found if introduced known as the Squieel ( https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/4741-food-source-squieel/ ). If any berry bushes spawn here they're more likely to be poison berries and if mushrooms are introduced they'd be mostly toxic here. Forest of Fears (Killer Island) - Manchineel trees. Every part of the plant is poisonous. Possibly a new predator spawns from them that are as difficult as the Killer Bearyena or the Jungle Apes. Possibly also immune to poison since they probably eat the fruit from their Manchineel trees. This island also has lightning. Lightning can strike a nichling and take several days off their life span as well as stun them so they have zero to one movement for a few days afterward. If lightning hits a tree the tree is charred, or only a sapling and for 20 days and no one is able to gather from it as it slowly regrows. Anyone around a Manchineel tree within one or two tiles of it when its struck by lightning and starts smoking will have temporary blindness for 3 to 6 days and/or be poisoned by the toxic fumes, and/or be temporarily blind for 3 to 6 days.1 point

Spitting is something I wanted to add since FOREVER. Some of you might still remember that the Derp Snout used to be called Spit Snout, the reason being that we wanted to give it spitting ability It would be able to spit at Rabills and other small prey, which would glue them to the ground for a day. Take my upvote!1 point
