  1. @angelheart Thanks! They are cool ^^ Since they use pixel art and the other icons are vector, I will trace them and maybe increase the contrast a bit! Will do so after I get back from the game conference in Rome in mid/late May.

  3. And so, one day, Bostonlobstah posted her message in the wrong fact section. Soon, she was invited to some convention but wasn't able to say no! They stuffed her into a pink unicorn suit and she stayed a furry ever since, because the zipper was defect and the costume made of steel

  4. So I was recently watching Adams Quest and there was there the nichelings Cobra, Viper and Serpent. And I was wondering what if there was more genes (because Poison Fangs technically count) relating to snakes. So the cobra will be first will be the snouts. The spitting fang, based on the spitting cobra would be obtained by having 70 days with a poison effect and poison 50 entities. Though having different nichelings with poison effect that have the exact same lifespan won't count. The effects would be +1 poison resistance, +2 smelling and +1 venomous spitting. The effect venomous spitting would be the first ranged effect which will allow a nicheling to inflict the poison status to a target. Next will be the hooded snout which is the most iconic feature of a cobra. The hooded snout would be unlocked by using strong voice and receiving attacks 30 times. The effects would be +2 smelling and +1 distasteful appearance. Hope this was interesting, Sincerely Biogamer.

  6. This made me want to go back to my really old Warriors tribe. Weird how I stopped on exactly day 100, it wasn't on purpose. Four melanistic creatures, one albino. The leader is Duckstar, who I have a screenshot of from when he was a little baby wanderer found in a river! The deputy is Juniperwillow, the white peacock whose turns have been used. (I accidentally typed that as sued first. His turns were sued??) and the family tree (OMG DEERSTAR IS STILL HERE??) okay gotta play with them now heh (but not post it because I don't feel like it)

  9. Currently on the game a blind nichling can only move to tiles that are seen by other nichlings. However, blind people in real life still move around and navegate the world based on other senses like sound and touch. So I suggest giving two unique actions to blind nichlings. 1. Blind nichlings should be able to have a listening action. It would allow blind nichlings to hear the tiles around them, making it so they can move around. You would be able to click action this in the same spot as the purring action. *How far the nichlings can hear depends entirely on their ears. 2. The touch/feel action. This would allow them to touch/feel something they can’t hear and interact with. For example touching a piece of grass, would allow them to clear it away next turn. This gives the nichlings more mobility.

  10. I'd like to see some more beaks in the game that offer different stats to the one we've already got, so that winged nichelings can have more options. This beak would be based off of hook-billed parrots like macaws. It would have 1 smell, 2 collecting and 1 cracking and could be unlocked by having 50 nichelings with the cracker jaw Links to other beak suggestions:

  11. Well, we have melanism and albinism, so why not piebaldism? Oh, right... Some of you don't know what piebaldism is. *ahem* Piebaldism is kind-of like a weird blend of albinism and normal skin. It's where some parts of the body have missing pigments, resulting in that part being pure white. In animals, it looks like this: EDIT: I have been told that the dog has a similar disorder called vitiligo; not piebaldism. So, to make up for it, have a cute piebald fawn. Other than it looking beautiful, it doesn't really affect health. I think it would look something like this in Niche? What do you guys think of piebaldism in Niche?

  12. I think this has been suggested before but it was in with a bunch of other ideas in one post and I just loved this idea so much and had another idea to maybe improve it So basically it is a horn slot gene of course, probably would be more rare and recessive. It would give +1 or +2 strength, possibly +1 attractiveness and maybe even healing powers? (like purr snout) I understand if people think that it would be too unrealistic and 'magical' for Niche though... You could unlock it in the menu by inviting a unicorn nicheling into the tribe and then healing (with purr snout or horn) 25 times? Here was the unicorn idea I found after thinking up my own (I did not take inspiration from this) https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/2280-niche-suggestions/&page=0#comment-7253 edit! I made a drawing showing the unicorn horn on a pegamercaticorn (Pegasus mermaid cat unicorn) nicheling. My tablet is not working so I am using good old fashioned paper

  13. Digging paw, for me, it just takes up a paw slot and just seems useless at some points So lets improve it! I'm suggesting adding Insect collecting to digging paw, just a +1 as I imagine them being able to grab the termites with the mole-like claws. Yeah, that's about it Edit: What I mean by not useful is the fact it just gives digging, no collecting/fighting, which in some cases is disastrous

  16. While I am not a big fan of the digging paw myself I don't know about the insect collecting. It probably should be something else. I like the root idea or new unique skill. Though digging, even with just the normal digging paw is already pretty useful.

  32. well, the only person with autism I know is my cousin, but he's so far on my mum's side of the family I've only ever seen him one or two times in my life. I dont even remember his name. from the times I did see him, I remember playing minecraft minigames on his xbox (and he beat my ass at it because I hate playing stuff on consoles with controllers) and another time him, his sisters and i decided to have these jellybeans where there are different colours and each colour can be two different flavours, one good and one so bad that you will probably throw up. we all ate a black one, which can be cola or squid ink.. we all got squid ink, and lets just say we were lucky to be in a house with two bathrooms

  33. I think that Fire Bees (a mix between firefly, fire ant, and bee) would be a great addition to Niche! If an island has 2 or more oak trees, there is a 100% chance that a Fire Bee hive will be on one of its branches. However, if the island has only 1 tree or no trees at all, none will spawn. The hive would look like a regular beehive, but with an orange tint. Visually, they would look like fireflies, but with black and orange stripes and a stinger on its abdomen. Lone Fire Bees can sometimes be found by berry bushes. If you pick from it, it will have a 50/50 chance of fleeing or stinging. A fire bee sting will not cause harm to your Nicheling directly, but it will be poisoned for 1 day. You will have an option to attack the hive to receive 10 food, and if a creature has a strength of 4 or above, it will succeed. Regardless of if the attacker is strong enough or not, any attempt of attack on the hive will cause large numbers of the fire bees to swarm your creature, continually giving it stings for 3 days. The nest then relocates to another tree on the island. The only way to destroy a hive without the fire bees going after your creature is if it has the Badger Snout. This will give the Nicheling +1 Strength, +3 Smelling, and +1 Hive gathering. It is accessible only by wanderers. Thanks for reading my suggestion! Let me know if you like it

  34. It's not a problem sorry for taking a while to get back to you Now that I've thought about it, it wouldn't actually be necassery to have different forms of erythrism for each individual colour combo. The gene for erythrism could be completely epistatic over all fur, pattern and horn colours. There could be 2 seperate alleles other than non erythristic: 1 which causes bright ginger fur and 1 that causes blond fur. These seem to be the 2 main outcomes but obviously feel free to change/add to it if you decide to go with this For the toxic body (I always thought of it as being textured like a frog, because dart frogs, instead of an insect. I love dart frogs btw, they're awesome) it could be a more purplish pink if the ginger allele is present and a lighter pink (like the grasshopper you have pictured) for the blond allele I've included some pictures as examples below. The first 2 are a tiger and a zebra (woah who'd have guessed), this would be the sort of colour caused by the ginger allele. The second 2 are a wildebeest and a fox (mind blown ), this would be the blond allele. The last picture is another grasshopper, but this one has a darker, more purplish colour to it. This would happen when a nicheling inherited both the toxic body and the ginger allele Man I've gone off on a right rant, sorry I tend to get a bit carried away lol. I think it might be a good idea to simplify it in some way so it's more likely to be added, the current idea would take an awful lot of work given how many possible colour combos there must be. Also yes, pheomelanin is red/orange pigment

  35. I decided that this idea was too big to be its own seperate thing so this will be an all in one. We have wandering nichelings, we have rouges, some of us want multiplayer but can't have that. But I've got an idea that might just work, feral nichelings. Now it isn't gonna be just one or two oh no, it would be a small pack. This is for sometimes in rough situations feral animals band together, so let's make it an idea. And this because of our options with things to fight, there's around 14 animals (excluding nichelings) that we can attack. Why not add some more reasoning behind the strength stat other than to catch some rabbils eating our berries. The feral nichelings would be on killer islands or on continent mode (see a feature request relating to it). There would be 3-10 nichelings, and their genes would differ depending on the biome, so if a player finds the feral nichelings in a swamp they would see poison fangs, toxic body ect. The way nichelings would act would be like most animals, once one nicheling does an action a feral one does another (e.g. you collect berries, a feral may move away). And to make things interesting there would be three ways to deal with this option: Peaceful: Trying to merge packs by offering food and assistance, it would be difficult but rewarding. Meaning new genes into the tribe and a larger clan with no food required to make them join (their rankings will be unchanged once joined). Neutral: Ignoring them and continue playing, don't worry they won't strike unless you strike first Aggressive: Declare war with the feral pack and fight for dominance. It's a quick way to get new genes but to a cost, the cost of war (wow that sounded somewhat dark and dramatic). The only way to declare victory is by killing them all or just the alpha/s, read below for more. The Feral Alpha would most likely have some of the most op genes (e.g. double claw and ram horns). After you attack one nicheling from the feral tribe the Alpha will let out a call and alert all feral nichelings to attack your own. The way to win the war is mentioned above. Once the Alpha is defeated the feral nichelings will either join the pack immediately (only 3 food required) or turn into wandering nichelings where the player must make them join with the original amount. Now to the genes. The genes are, exactly the same with no bonus effects 😆. I'm joking, the genes would look more wilder with scruffs of fur sticking out (I think it would look cool) but with some thing else to make it more unique. The effects would be altered around, what I mean is that the effects may be switched around. An example would be claw, for a normal nicheling it would be +2 strength and fishing, but for a feral it may be +1 strength and +3 fishing. And to make certain genes not op negatives would be altered and the minimal amount is +1, meaning a big lean body can get really fast. The reasons for this is to somewhat represent the whole wild idea, with feral animals not acting the exact way. Plus I think it adds more realism to the game, for sometimes players have nichelings with double claw, but they use it for fishing, not strength. Well this was a big one, hope it was interesting, Sincerely Biogamer (couldn't find a image for this).

  36. It would be really cool if bones had a use in the game and were implemented more widely. For example, a pile of meat that is left alone too long turns into bones, and bones also have a chance to appear after gathering meat. Bones would have multiple uses, and nicheling bones would be a bit different. In many tribes I have seen, people say that the nichelings that die in the nest "bless it" with their bones. This could be made a reality. If bones are left alone for too long, they have a chance to fertilize the tiles next to them. This means that nests affected by decomposing bones are repaired and reinforced. Also berry bushes produce more berries for some time if affected, and roots are more likely to spawn in these tiles. This could lead to players assigning nichelings to guard the bones, and to place their elders more strategically so they have a chance to become fertilizer. Bones left behind by non nicheling animals can also fertilize the area, but it takes longer. However, nichelings with this new gene can benefit from bones: Bone cracking jaw: +1 smelling(because its best to not smell a carcass) +1 bone cracking, +1 cracking nichelings with this gene can gather food from bones, and nesting material from nicheling bones. The amount of food obtained by cracking bones is equal to the amount of meat you would have obtained, but with 3 more food points. This would be useful if you have a lot of food and you can wait to gather the meat. Also, because there is a small chance of a carcass leaving bones behind after being gathered, you could get a lot of food. You would need to carefully guard the bones, because there are scavengers that would love to get their hands on them: Boneitor lizard: It has the appearance of a black monitor lizard with a cassowary's crest. Most of the time, its not dangerous. It moves one tile every time a nicheling moves, and it can be killed in one hit, because of its extra soft skin. It can be found on every island, it can cross rivers, and it has 3 smelling, 2 eyesight and 3 hearing. It is very wary about nichelings, and likes to stay at least one tile away from them. It is attracted to bones and it will gather them, for every bone pile it collects, it gains 1 point in defense, and if it collects nicheling bones, it gains 2 points, visually, it covers itself in bone armor. It can reach a maximum of 10 defense, and once it reaches that cap, it will start hunting other things. It will go for bunnies, moles, and baby nichelings, and it swallows them whole. there is a chance it will drop a bit of armor when attacked, and you can harvest bones from that armor piece.

  38. You could choose an option in which you have two or more tribes in one game. Pretty much you have the option to create (and customize) two starter creatures per separate tribe. These tribes could be on separate land, and you can switch between tribes while playing the game.

  39. Hey I was thinking about a Body Type that would overwrite the colors of a creature like Toxic Body does, but instead of standing out with intimidating warning colors, it would help the Nichelings to blend in perfectly with their enviroment: the Chameleon Body A chameleon changes his colors based on what they see to blend in so I suggest the colors would change depending on what biom-tile they are standing on. The pattern would still be the same (a spotted one would still be spotted, a striped striped...) but also change in color depending on the biom. I made a picture for illustration 5 times the same nicheling in different enviroments (I forgot the beach and the water but you hopefully get what I mean) I'd like if the body could be made to look slightly scaly instead of fluffy ^-^ It would give a lot of camouflage but has next to no other benefits, maybe heat resistance +1 or 2 but cold resistance -1 or 2 if anything Let me know what you think

  40. I've wanted to see more hybrids in the game so maybe another one or two should be added. The Arctic Bears sound like a good place to start. Maybe a paw gene could be bear claw that gives three damage or a bear snout that adds one defence, one strength, and strong voice to scare away other bears.

  41. Sorry to request something because I know you all are working too hard, and I love your work! I came up with a few silly ideas that are just for fun. The Climbing paw The climbing paw would be a paw that could help you climb trees without needing wings, the climbing paw not be able to go as far as wings, just climb trees! And the wings can be a little annoying but this would be easier, but this does have a disadvantage, having a slower walk speed though it would have 1+ heat resistance, i don't know. You have to have climbed/flown into three trees. Wing patterns Wing patterns would be nice, a striped or spotted wing pattern would be really cool! No need to unlock, in the normal gene menu. Water eyes This could only be helpful if a few features are inputted, well first off in my little head cannon my creatures can only see 1 tile around them in every direction, because it is blurry underwater, and this would be terrible if their was a sea monster, that was as dangerous as the apes. And to see farther they would need the water eyes, which they could see farther underwater but be shortsighted on land. You need to have killed a sea monster. Sea monster This would make the game harder, they would have the same types as apes, big eyed, big nosed, and big eared. To hide from the big eyed, you would need to hide in the seaweed, where fish spawn, to camouflage. To hide from the big nosed, you would roll around in muddy sand, and last but not least for the big eared, you would have to have webbed paws. Note: When I play Adam's quest, there are never any hard island ports and it is awfully boring, and I've been to fifteen easy islands on one save file, and 20 on a second one. it is impossible to find the home island under these conditions.

  42. here we have the "Gecko tail" were it would look like a gecko's (leopard gecko, crested gecko etc...) tail and its ability is it can fall off if it is being attacked by a bearyna, ape balance bear, etc. saving it from being attack just that one move. It can grow back after a few amount of days (around 3 or 4) and each stage of it growing back would look different. I suggested this because most geckos in real life uses this as a defence mechanism! It would be harder to get that most tails. You can unlock this gene by inviting a nicheling into the tribe that has it. It would also save a baby from being taken away from a bird if the tail is full grown! Obviously once the bird trys to take it away once, it would fall of then. Also I have a question: How do you add pictures?

  43. My daughter (she'll be ten next week) spends 2-3 hours a day on this game, and she was beyond excited about the new update. I asked her, "If you could add anything to Niche, what would it be?" Her reply was that she wanted to be able to tame "all" the animals. "Like, maybe you could find babies and tame them and have a tribe of" each of the different animals on the islands. Probably a long shot, but she didn't hesitate a second about it when I asked her. :) Anyhow, thanks for the game. She loves it.

  44. Ah, okay. I know they can be taken back, but I was thinking of looser rules for getting back the baby, like simply approaching it (I mean, surely they would choose their parents over an ugly, derp-snouted hag right?). I was thinking that lonely ladies could become aggressive once the steals a baby to balance the "reclaim by approach", since I think she would be determined to keep it. Lonely ladies not mating with spiky bodied males is good, but you would then need to watch both your males and females. My main concern would be the domino affect this causes: LL mates with one of your males Either steals a nest or an unclaimed one to have the baby The baby grows up to be either another RM or LL That's one more rogue to watch out for (or more, since I assume there's more than one lonely lady on the island) Rinse and repeat for an isle o' rogues I personally wouldn't want to deal with it, but maybe they could only appear on killer islands (or hard and above?). I think rogue males only appear on medium islands and above, or at least that's what I've noticed. I feel like being bombarded with lonely ladies and rogue males the moment you leave your grassy starter island might be a bit much and frustrating.

  45. Okay, I finished the pictures! I know you mentioned you wanted scales like a reptile body, and I tried to edit together some scales for the body, but I personally had some difficulties, so I've got one picture with the scales and all the rest just have a 'rough' texture to them. Hope you don't mind! I also added in a 'tree' version, and I tried to make it look like mostly leaves with some blue mixed in like seeing the sky through the leaves. Not sure how well it went, but I tried lol Scales: Tree: Grassland: Savannah: Home Island: Beach: Underwater: Swamp: Jungle: Mountain: Snow: Just a note: The body I drew is sleek and kinda bean-shaped because I noticed that, when a chameleon is 'sitting up' or stretching toward something, it's actually kinda thin, whereas in most of the pictures you see on google, they're sitting down on all fours and look hunch-backed and chubby. Since Nichelings are sitting up, I went with a thinner look
