The reason most birds (and aquatic animals) don't have outer ears is because of drag. That works two ways: For one having floppy outer ears can hamper the ability to fly/swim and for two, drag causes noise, which in turn actually makes it difficult to hear anything else while flying/swimming. Stick your head out of the window of a moving car and I'm sure you know what I mean. Still, I don't agree that having a beak should automatically disable ears. If anything, evolution is a gradual process and Niche reflects that quite elegantly. A more subtle solution that I'd like to see is as follows: Introduce "inner ears" as a new ear that can be evolved. Then make different ears have a different effect on flying (and perhaps swimming) ability. Basically: bigger ears = less flying. What I'd suggest is to leave the medium ears as is (same for bearyena), but give "inner ears" a +1 on flying/swimming and big ears a -1. To ensure these "inner ears" aren't entirely overpowered, their hearing should be less effective. I'd suggest +2 hearing (where medium has +3).4 points

` + ` Why I Love Platypus Beak ` + ` Platypus beak, you may feel left out Platypus beak, don't pout I know of your potential And everyone shall Know how you saved a tribe from starvation Without the use of berries or condensation How you saved the tribe from the fate of old Your story will be told How you got me over 300 food Why are you so good? The only meat was a single bearyena and a rabbil I will sing this gene's use from this post's windowsill From Deadly Hills Which usually kills Let our nichelings feast On a secluded isle away from the beasts Digging up worms from the shore Holes everywhere, I say from the core You still will carry us, this is not yet your ultimate peak I love you, platypus beak3 points

Thank you guys again so much for all of the support. Hearing these from someone else besides my boy and my family really does speak out to me, and I appreciate every single minute of it. Not sure what I think about the cuddling, though! I still appreciate it nonetheless Lexapro, Day One: I forgot to take my meds! Grr! But I’ll do it tomorrow! But nonetheless, I thought today was more exuberant than usual. I was more social and I felt like myself from, I dunno, last summer. Most of the first-half of class after lunch consisted of me having fun socializing with some friends I haven’t spoken to in a while. It was oddly refreshing. Not much for today, really, other than “I CAN FEEL X AGAIN DEJA VU” —Alex3 points

Lexapro, Day 3: This time I did not forget my medication! Yay! But anyway... uhgggh, I just need to let loose some steam. So in my school, on every May 31st they host this thing called “World Day”. It’s basically where all the classrooms “become” a country of some sorts and students talk about their chosen country. As a geography enthusiast who nuts at the sight of a map, I always look forward to these days, but this year’s World Day sucked. It was super stressful and I mostly felt bored throughout the presentations. Come on, the sixth graders did friggin America! I thought that wasn’t allowed since we live in America and learning about America is apart of the regular school curriculum! I’ve already heard about a good majority of the countries, too. Yeah, a younger person would’ve probably had a blast, but I didn’t. The rest of the day was... fine, though. It wasn’t very productive. But hey, they played Minecraft music after everything! And I love me some calming music— goddamnit. I have something else I wish to speak about, but I’ll write it privately because it goes off assumptions. But it bothers me nonetheless! Thanks for... at least skimming through this entry! —Goggles2 points

I personally like the current bird beaks with ears, and feel they would look strange without them. Besides, disabling ears would also remove hearing, which is important. If it's just an aesthetic change, it should be optional.2 points
