  1. I bought this game awhile ago but hadn't really delved in till recently after reading some guides on the steam forums. I loved the idea of tracking the family tree idea. So that is what I have started doing. I just finished my first family tree, survived 128 days and got to the 6th generation (i had tweaked the age progression to last longer including the pregnancy). Now I'm starting a new sandbox that I left the age progression the same except I made the adult 20 days instead of 19. We shall see how that goes :).

  3. Chapter 3 New Life Doesn't Mean Good Life "Hehehe!" Rota sighed as he was kept from his nap, trying to ignore the constant giggling coming from his left. He lifted his head and turned, ready to tell Instinct to screw off before jabbed her with his horns. He blinked. He blinked again. Huh. The albino was curled up in a nest, giggling as a small cub tried to pounce on her swaying tail. "Um..." His voice made Instinct look up, and she gave him a smile. "Heya Rota!" "Hi?" He didn't stop staring a the cub, who was now curiously blinking up at him. Her eyes were brown. "Oh!" Instinct looked down at the cub. "This is Kakanna!" The cub made some kind of chirping noise at him, but all he could do was wonder. Where had she come from? She was obviously Instinct's daughter, that was obvious, but... He narrowed his eyes. She didn't exactly look like any of the males around. So who... "You okay?" A white tail waved in front of his face. "Yeah. I'm fine." "Rota, get your tail up, Kudufrn found a rabbil burrow." He huffed, slowly turning his head to shoot Mirifela a glare. "So?" "You have horns, don't you?" She scoffed. Her eyes flicked over to Instinct, and she gave a wave. "Hey Instinct, I hope he wasn't bothering you." The albino shook her head. "He was fine, ya'll should get goin'!" "Right, come on." Rota felt teeth dig into his wing, hissing as he was dragged off the stump and hit the ground. As he followed his twin, he still couldn't help but wonder. He could have sworn Instinct had said she was infertile. --------------------- "And that is how I single pawed-ly killed a bluebird!" Firalis sighed. She could hear Mirifela laughing beside her, and even Instinct was leaning forward in interest. She didn't understand. The stranger obviously hadn't killed a predator in his life, his tiny little crippled paw couldn't kill a rabbil. He wasn't even attractive, in Firalis's opinion, anyway. (Not that she should really be one to judge the attractiveness of males) "Wow!" Mirifela laughed. Since when did the female act like some love-struck teen? Firalis thought she might gag. If Rota was here, maybe he would have knocked some sense into his sister by now. She just wanted to go hunting.

  7. Danger. That’s all she could feel when she looked down at the bright red cub. She hesitated before backing out of the nest, pulling Toward back as well. She left Warning in the nest, looking up at the skies. It hurt, sacrificing a child based off of looks, but she didn’t want to risk anything. Meanwhile, Blame had been watching Ducky, an orange male, dig through the dirt. She looked at her own paw before beginning to try to help him dig. Ducky stopped and looked up, blinking a few times. He gave a small smile before going back to digging. He quickly pulled up a small stagmole, looking it over before carefully placing it back in the hole. Blame went to reach for the stagmole, but Ducky hissed and stood protectively over the hole. “What? You attached to a stagmole?” She questioned with a raise eyebrow, getting ready to fight him for his spot. He simply lowered his stance and glared up at her. She growled and jumped at him, but Mayo quickly pulled her back. “Hey! No fighting. We don’t need any of that.” Blame growled, then glared at Ducky before turning to see her father approaching. She quickly sat tall, lifting her head to try and seem as tall as possible. Fall looked over all the cubs, then nudged Toward forward. “This one.” He then simply walked away again.

  10. Debris had watched for minutes as Mayonnaise and Fall spoke, glancing nervously between the two. She couldn’t tell the expression on her faces, mostly because she had been in tears from the pain in her arm. Maybe she shouldn’t have bit down so hard. “Uhm.. Guys?” She spoke up, which resulted in Mayonnaise whipping around. That’s when Debris could see it. “Hm?” Mayonnaise blinked a few times, then smiled. “What’s wrong?” Debris stammered for a few moments before looking her up and down. “You’re carrying a cub?” The horned female looked down, then back up. “Oh, right. I’m Fall’s mate! He figured I’d be a good pick and I was okay with it so we’re going to have some heirs!” Debris could feel her chest aching, though she gave a smile. “That’s nice. I’m just.. gonna go see how the hunters are doing. I’ll be back, okay?” “Alrighty!”

  13. Spring lay practically limp in the grass, taking in deep breaths with his tongue sticking out the side of his mouth. His legs had been sore beyond belief, to the point he couldn’t move them. Sunrise had been having a staring contest with the crabbit, but after she won she turned to look at Spring. “Are you alright?” She questioned, moving over to sniff at him. “I..” He had a raspy voice, and seemed out of breath. “Can’t..” He was going to attempt another word, but Sunrise cut him off. “Don’t worry. I’m just glad I finally get to meet you. Well, it’s hard to get to know you at the moment, but I’m glad I have my older brother back!” Spring took a few more breaths before giving a look of pity. He took a big gulp and put his tongue back in his mouth. “You weren’t even talking before… How much did I miss?” “A lot. Mom and Summer are.. no longer with us, but hey! We have each other!” She gave a big smile before looking off into the distance. “And.. The half-blood.” She mumbled. “Half blood?” He questioned, trying to look at where she had motioned. “I only remember you, me, and Summer.” He said with a slightly more confused tone in his voice. “Yeah… Well mom had another kid. Forest Fire, nobody knows who her dad is but everyone knows the stories she was making. Something about nicheling from another world?” “Woah… Do you think I’d get to meet her dad?” “No no no, mom. Two moms.” She corrected, sighing. “The drawings were females. Quite obviously so.”

  15. Chapter 2 Live The Best Life ------------------- "Is this your's?" A knocking on the stump below him awoke Rota, and he drowsily peeked an eye open to see who was speaking with him. An odd male stood before him, head tilted. "Hm." Rota said groggily. "Your face looks weird." The stranger blinked, pinning his ears back against his head and giving Rota a snarl with his scraggled teeth. "Well that's rude." "I'm aware." Rota yawned, stretching out across the stump and nearly smacking the guy in the face with his wing. "Go away, I'm sleeping." ----------------- Odd. He blinked again. Still there. Maybe he should be happier he could see now, even if it was only for a little. Something rustling ahead caught his ears, and he slunk through the grass cautiously. Luckily there was no predator smell near by. He could see the top of a head above the grass. Oh. It was just Kudufrn. He was picking berries off a bush, seeming zeroed in on his work even as three crabbits surrounded him. Though they didn't seem threatening, they seemed almost...like friends. As if he had sensed Today's presence, Kudufrn craned his head to look back at him. His bright yellow eyes pierced right through him, and Today couldn't help but wonder if they were supposed to look like that. "Hello." He greeted, and Today could've sworn he almost saw a smile ghost his face. "Hello." He said back, holding the fierce yellow gaze with as much indifference as he could. Though his eyes couldn't help but wander back to the crabbits, who almost looked like they were staring at him too. "They're not aggressive." Kudufrn chimed. Today could see him gesture him over with his paw, and he reluctantly came over and sat down next to him. The male towered over him, and Today blinked as he realized just how big he was. "They're good..." He watched as the nicheling brought down a paw and rubbed one of the crabbits on the shell, to which it responded by not immediately attacking him. Today blinked. He had never seen a crabbit so docile before. "Are you a wildlife spirit?" Kudufrn looked at him out of the corner of his eye. "No. I'm just good with animals." He turned to look at him, and Today couldn't help but wonder if he was seeing things. The shape of Kudufrn's pupil had morphed. It looked more like a diamond now. But as soon as he blinked, it was gone. Huh. It was just his imagination, he thought briefly as Kudufrn returned to his task. Just his imagination.

  16. Prologue Down by the shore, and in the grass, nestled among the roots- Were six. Six peacefully asleep. Peacefully unaware. Six who didn't know why they were there. Just six. Letting the breeze wash over them. Letting the waves lull them to darkness. ------------ One opened their eyes. And another. And another still. They were here. ------------ She blinked. "I'm not sure I know you." He didn't look at her. "I don't think you do." "Hm." ------------------- "Firalis, are you alright?" She shook her head, craning to see the stiff and unblinking male behind her. "I feel fine." "Do you?" "Mhm." She looked around. The other four were quietly murmuring. "Just fine." Today turned away, though it wasn't as if he could look anywhere. Darkness greeted him no matter which direction he faced. Kudufryn looked upon the gathered five with half lidded eyes, posture and demeanor unbothered. Firalis met his gaze. ... His eyes were unsettling.

  24. Ducky came to a halt, which caused Blame to trip over him. She quickly got up with a growl. “Hey! Tell me when you stop next time!” Though her annoyance had been ignored, Ducky’s gaze fixed on the pink male in front of them. Blame looked up to see, eyes scanning the area to see a limp body next to the male. Her eyes widened and she quickly backed away. “Ducky, let’s go.” But yet again, she had been ignored. The two males had been in a staring contest, but Blame shoved Ducky. “I said let’s go!” She said, her panic evident through her voice. Ducky looked over at her, which caused the pink male to leap at him. Blame quickly shoved Ducky into the water, then ducked. The male went flying over her, but quickly recovered on the other side. He let out a low growl, and Blame quickly pulled Ducky out of the water by the scruff. Blame then quickly ran off towards the others, though Ducky took a bit to catch up.

  25. Starfall opened her eyes to be surrounded by yet another limp body. She blinked a few times in confusion. She slowly began to waddle over to the crabbits, taking small nibbles out of one of their bellies. After eating, she slowly closed her eyes again, not paying any attention to the call of birds in the distance.

  26. Spring woke up in the morning to see Sunrise curled around a cub, though Sunrise’s body had been limp and giving off a foul odor. Spring’s eyes widened, ad he quickly picked the cub up by the scruff to stop the crabbits getting to her. He then set the cub between his paws, looking her over before beginning to cry. Why did she have to be sick? He could recall the size of her newborn body, curled up next to their mother as he was pushed away gently with her tail. He could recall her voice calling out to him as he slowly arrived at the new land. He couldn’t remember the last time they played. He couldn’t stand the thought of her being gone. He snapped out of his thoughts, looking down at the small bundle of fur between his paws. He sniffled, then curled around her, not wanting to leave Sunrise’s side.

  27. Sunrise had been coughing on and off for the past few minutes, and Spring was starting to get worried. He carefully approached her, attempting to move around her to see her face. “Hey.. You okay?” He questioned, trying his best not to sound too sappy. Sunrise nodded a little, curling up more in her little ball. “Are you sure? I could go find one of the medics! There’s still some of those, right?” There was a slight tinge of panic in his voice. Sunrise slowly lifted her head, eyes ever so slightly dulled. “Sh… I’m okay…” She whispered, her voice rough from all the coughing. Spring gave a worried look, then lay down next to her. He lay his feathers over her as a sort-of blanket from the cold. Sunrise slowly fell asleep, digging her snout into his fur and looking peaceful, unlike all her restless nights coughing. Spring smiled at her, though nudged her a bit. After a few moments with no response, he used his paw to push her snout to the side a bit, hoping it would wake her up. He waited a few moments before tearing up. “Sunrise?” . . . He checked for a pulse before sighing. She had just been sleeping… But why wouldn’t she wake up?

  30. Chapter 4 Bonds Are Made To Be Broken "Who's there?" Kakanna stepped through the grass, tail curled defensively over her back. There was something in there. She could hear it. Another rustle came from ahead of her, and she sunk low to the ground. She didn't exactly blend in, but hopefully whatever it was wouldn't see her. Unable to take the suspense any longer, she sprang forward. She felt herself collide into something, tackling it to the ground with her as it writhed in surprise. Definitely not any kind of prey. Or a predator. "Wait! Wait! Wait!" A slightly panicked voice caught her attention, and she took a moment to actually look at what she was holding down. Hm. A nicheling. A female slightly bigger than herself with dark, blood red fur, and a snout similar to the ones she saw on the rogues all the time. "I didn't mean to take your food or anything, I was just-" "Calm down, geez." Kakanna huffed, giving the female the best annoyed stare she could muster. That got her to stop jabbering, and the two just kind of stared at each other. Her fur is soft... Kakanna thought absentmindedly, flexing her claws a little at the feeling of the velvet soft fur. Dammit, shut up. She chastised her own brain, finally getting off and letting the poor girl up. "Um...." "I'm sorry for attacking you." Kakanna said begrudgingly, not meeting the other nicheling's gaze. "There's been a lot of rogue males and bearyenas lately. Momma sent me to check on things." There was silence for a moment, before Kakanna heard some kind of purring noise. "Aww, you still call her 'mama'!" Kakanna could feel her pelt grow hot as she whipped around, glaring at the laughing nicheling with as much intensity as she could. "S-Shut up!" ------------------------------------------------------------ "Wow, really?" "Yep! It nearly had me, too!" "I'm sure." Mirifela chuckled, smiling as Vim finished his story about he had fought a balance bear. In all honesty, she wasn't sure she completely believed his stories, but the least she could do was humor him. "That thing fed the whole tribe for months!" He exclaimed proudly, and Mirifela pretended not to notice when he moved closer to her side. "I was hailed as a hero after that!" Mirifela couldn't help but laugh a little. Vim was just so...confident, about everything. He was loud and proud and wasn't afraid to say whatever he wanted. She really liked being around him. She really liked him. "You okay?" She blinked. "Oh yeah, sorry. Just thinking." He smiled at her, brighter than the sun. Her whole being was soothed, calmer than the moon. ----------------------------------------- "I think it was over here..." She brushed aside another clump of grass. No luck. "Dammit..." She mumbled, hearing Today make a small noise behind her. She could have sworn she smelled the rabbil burrow out here... "I don't smell anything, Firalis..." Today walked up next to her, head raised as if he was looking above the treetops with his sightless gaze. Firalis groaned, flopping down on the sand in defeat. She was too sleep deprived for this. Maybe she was hallucinating smells now. Today sat down next to her, and the two waited in calm silence. "You don't have your mother's sense of smell." Firalis bristled, turning her head away in indignation. "Why do you keep wanting to talk about her?" Today sighed. "Because, Firalis, you can't keep avoiding the topic forever. She was bad, yes, and she did bad things, but Wi-" "Don't." Firalis held a paw, still not looking at him. "Don't say her name. Please just, don't." "Firalis..." Today shuffled a little closer, though she didn't look at him. "You can't keep running away. It's not fair, not to yourself or..." He trailed off. "You know who." Firalis dug her claws into the sand, ears flat against her head. "It doesn't matter if it's fair to her." Today took a deep breath. "Your mother-" "IS DEAD!" She snapped, whipping around with a furious snarl. "SHE'S GONE! SHE'S GONE, AND SHE WAS HORRIBLE, AND I HATE HER! I HATE HER! AND SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE EXISTED, AND I SHouldn't have existed..." Firalis broke off, still glaring and growling, but she couldn't help but start to cry. She was sick of bottling it all up for so long. She leaned forward and shoved her face in Today's shoulder, letting herself cry, because Today was the only one she had left. He was her best friend, and she didn't want him to leave. Today sighed, an aching pain in his chest as he set a paw on Firalis's back. "Who your parents were isn't your fault..." He whispered. A calm silence washed over them. "And..." Firalis breathed out, barely audible. "And maybe I miss her a little..." -------------------------- "Now, where'd ya come from?" Instinct watched as the brown ball of fur wobbled up to her, making a little noise. It looked about as big as any teen nicheling, but she wasn't dumb. She knew what it was. "Where's ya mama?" She cooed, crouching down so she was eye level with it. "I didn't see any bearyenas around here lately." All she got in response was the cub rubbing it's face against her cheek, and she huffed in surprise, pulling back a little. "Alright, well." She sighed. "You can stay here for a bit if you wanna." ------------------------------------ Stupid. Rota huffed, watching the two with narrowed eyes. Stupid. So stupid. His sister was laying in a nest, a small cub curled up against her side as she and Vim cooed over it. Stupid. Mirifela was smiling. She was laughing. She was happy. Rota couldn't remember the last time he had seen her happy. He stared. Stared from the top of his perch on the tree stump. The one he was always sitting on. She didn't look in his direction. ------------- "Can I talk to you?" She raised an eyebrow. "Sure?" He took her over by the shore, where she gave him a questioning look. "What do you want?" He hated how she had said that. "So, you're a mother now." "Yeah?" "It's just..." He stretched out his wing, choosing to focus on the way the feathers spread. "I'm...happy for you." "Oh, really?" Her tone was unreadable. He couldn't tell if she believed him or not. "Yeah, I am." His eyes flicked to the waves. "I just wish you would spend more time with me, is all." Mirifela didn't say anything for a few seconds. "We talk all the time, Rota. Don't be stupid." He flinched. "I know, it just...feels wrong. To see you with someone else, without even acknowledging me." "Really?" Mirifela scoffed. "I'm allowed to do things without you." "....we're twins-" "You think just because we're twins, we have to do everything together?" She hissed. "No!" "We're not back home anymore, Rota! We're allowed to go off, and be our own people, and start families and live a life that's our own! We're not stuck together anymore!" He stared at the sand. Maybe if he didn't look at her she would stop talking to him. "All we have left is each other, Mirifela-" "Not anymore!" She said, tone exasperated. "Not anymore! We're in a tribe again, we have others now! I have others now!" He didn't look at her. She sighed, and he could see her shadow move. Maybe she was standing up. "I'm choosing to live my own life. I want to be happy, Rota." He could hear her walking away. "I just want to be happy..." There was a tightness in his chest. He stared at the waves, hoping that maybe they would swallow him whole. "...what about me?..." A loneliness coursed through him. "...do I get to be happy?..."

  31. Call and Forest Fire had been about to catch a few bunnils, but they suddenly heard crying coming closer. Call looked in the direction, then back towards Forest Fire, who had tried to pounce on the escaping bunnils. Forest Fire got up with a huff, spinning around to see Debris, who had tears running down her face. Call looked over as well, immediately feeling bad and draping her wing over her back. “Hey now, what’s wrong?” Debris sniffled, trying to put words together. “He.. He knew..” She sniffled once more, then dug her face into Call’s fur to begin crying again. Call awkwardly patted her back with her wing, looking towards Forest Fire, who was staring at Debris in confusion. “Your brother I’m guessing? That’s the only nicheling I can think of.” Deris hissed, throwing her head to the side to growl at the water. “He knew I liked her. He knew…” “Sounds like he knows how to get under your skin.” Forest Fire commented, though Call lightly pushed her nose down. “She means he probably didn’t actually know. How would you know if he did know?” Call tilted her head, but Debris lashed her tail. “I know he could tell. He’s not that oblivious.”

  34. “Isn’t it dumb?” The striped nicheling looked up to face the winged female. “Excuse me? What’re you talking about?” He questioned with a serious look, vibrant yellow eyes seemingly piercing into the female’s soul. Meta gave a nervous look before narrowing her eyes. “Cubs. They’re small and annoying. Why would you want to have them?” “It’s for the start of a new tribe, not for pleasing others. Now shut up before you wake Tundra.” He said with a slight aggravated tone. He then turned towards his mate, laying down next to her and curling his tail around her. Meta lifted her snout a bit before turning away. She spread her wings, making her way into the skies to search for a tree.

  35. “How much farther is it?” “It would be closer if you would stop complaining.” Bebe whacked away another patch of grass with his tail, sending a growl in Warrior’s direction (though it sounded more like an angry goose). Warrior reeled back a little bit, eyes narrowed. “Can you not make that noise at me? It really freaks me out.” “You-” Bebe felt a light tap on his shoulder, and he looked up to see Shadow prodding him with her tail, though not enough for the tip to break skin. “What?” “Be quiet.” She said in a low voice, eyes narrowed. That was enough for Bebe to shut up, instead trudging along behind Warrior. The male snickered ahead of him, and he resisted the urge to bonk him on the head. He knew Shadow would tear his fur out for that. He’d just feed him a rabbil covered in dirt or something later.

  36. “Hey.. Mustard, was it?” Mustard looked up, across the bush. She couldn’t help but narrow her eyes in suspicion. “What do you want? Aren’t you supposed to be hunting?” She said with a scoff. Forest Fire simply gave a weak smile in return. “I was wondering if you wanted to hunt with me.” Mustard gave her a weird look before moving her gaze up and down Forest Fire. “No.” She spoke, distaste in her voice. “I will not be associated with such bloody adventures.” Forest Fire frowned, then gave a small smile. She nodded and turned away, though gave one last look back. “I’ll catch you the biggest prey I can find!” She called before darting off.

  37. The nichelings gathered around the ports, and those who didn’t make it on started to say their goodbyes. First was Vipeje, who only listed how disappointed she is in the others. When it moved on to Echo, a large crackling could be heard from the sky above. Everybody looked over, and most regretted it. A flash of lightening shot down, and a loud scream could be heard. Once everybody could see again, they all saw Summer laying limp in the grass. Sunrise screamed, trying to get off the port. That was until another bolt came down, striking right where Echo had been standing. Sunrise backed up, beginning to panic. She turned to the others and began to yell. “CROSS, NOW!” The others followed her order, quickly hopping from stone to stone. All they could hear was thunder crackles in the distance, followed by flashes of light which none of them dared to look back for.

  39. “Hey.” Layanmua turned her head to face Kayako. “Hello. Do you require berries?” The female queried with a tilted head and blank expression. “No. I require.. help. I need to find a mate. As the leader, I need to keep the tribe going, and that means I must have a son before my time is gone.” Layanmua gave a slight look of confusion. “Why not a daughter?” He curled his lips back in a look of disgust before swallowing his pride a bit and lifting his head. “I feel a son would be more fitting for the tribe.” He lied, though that fact seemed to have been overlooked. “The best choice is to find your own mate. No doubt you want strength, go seek it yourself.” Kayako opened his mouth to object, but she simply turned and went back to berry picking, which obviously meant she didn’t care about what he had to say. He scoffed and walked away, off to find a mate. ___________________________________________________________ “Hey, stop squishing the berries!” Blaze perked her head up, looking above the bush at her brother. They seemed to have a look of hatred coating their eyes, but others figured that was just what siblings are like.. “I’ll do whatever I want. You stop pestering me!” “I’m not pestering you, this is the first time I’ve asked!” “Asked? You yelled at me!” Blaze glared at Burn, and Burn glared back. “Hey, could you two stop fighting? Thanks!” The twins looked down at Lasa, whom had been shoving some of the berries in her mouth. Burn growled nd swatted at her, which caused her to drop the berries and back away. “Stay away from my berries you creep! I earned these!” Lasa frowned, a small pout evident across her face. “I’m hungry. Spare some food for the poor?” “No! Go get food yourself!” Lasa growled at him before turning towards the water. She leaned down and took a few sips, then turned and pranced away.

  40. “Where are we?” A young albino spoke, barely bothering to open his eyes. Everyone looked over in his direction, one of them seeming to recognize the voice. “Blizzard?” The next blind male said, voice almost quivering. “Huh?” The albino perked his ears up. “What? Who are you? Do you know me?” He narrowed his eyes, gaze wandering as he wasn’t focused on exactly where the voice came from. Another nicheling piped up, a growl low in their voice. “Oh that’s him alright.” “Hey, hey, maybe he’s different now? And what even happened? I thought the descendants were about to leave?” The purr-snouted female piped in, looking around. Some stared at her in confusion, yet others knew exactly of what she spoke. . . . In a flash, the grey and mustard nicheling had rammed into the albino, pushing him into the water. As the other nichelings hurried to stop him, the nicheling couldn’t help but start tearing up. “You’ll get what you deserve you stupid bearyena!”

  41. Chapter 1 And Perhaps the Past is Gone Now --------------------- "Neat spot." Rota merely flicked his tail at his sister. He was only half paying attention. His wing swiped carefully over the tree stump, making sure to keep his balance as he inspected the hundreds of line and claw marks in the bark. Someone must've been there before. "Rota." A paw tapped him on the head. He flicked an ear, eyes trailing down to meet Mirifela's mildly annoyed gaze. "Hm?" "You're not listening." He blinked at her. "Yes I was." She narrowed her eyes. "Then what did I say?" "..." He didn't bother to defend himself, watching as his twin gave him the most deadpan look she could muster. "Lazy." She sighed. "Annoying." He shot back, immediately regretting it as her paw smacked him in the head and knocked him into the dirt. ------------------- Firalis could feel a small puff of air on her cheek. "I don't like the rain." Today said in a shaky voice. "It's cold." "It's not that bad." She mumbled back, eyes still closed and head tilted towards the sky. The water was cool on her fur, a welcoming contrast to the warmth she despised so much. She could sit in it for hours. "My mama always said the rain was good for ya." Instinct's voice rang from Firalis's left. "She'd kick us outta the den and make us sit in it until it stopped, I guess it helped our immune systems." "I don't think that's true...my mom never did that." Firalis finally opened her eyes, glancing to her right. Today had his sightless gaze fixed on her, and she couldn't help but bristle as she realized what her friend was getting at. She fixed him with a hard stare, hoping he would get her point just by looking at her. ...oh, wait. "And Firalis's mother hated the rain." She lowered her head down, eyes narrowed as she took in Today. He didn't seem to notice the angry aura surrounding her, or perhaps he was just ignoring it. She could feel Instinct's curious gaze upon her. She probably thought she was being weird. "I don't wanna talk about her." She turned away, glaring stubbornly into the grass and trying to will the thought out of her head. It didn't matter what her mother hadn't liked. Not anymore. Her mother didn't matter. Today sighed behind her.

  42. Mayonnaise smiled down at the cub between her paws, then looked up at Fall. She frowned to see him scratching at a boulder, then walked up to him and nudged him with her nose. “Hey, Blame’s born..” Fall turned to look, his expression serious and yet unchanging. He simply nodded and moved past the boulder. Mayo sighed and decided to expand the nest, holding Blame close while getting ready for a second cub.
