  2. Mimime's Legacy "We should move away from my sister's body," said Strawberry, "it doesn't help the kits to be reminded of her death, and predators could be attracted here by it." Strawberry's eyes were glazed with sadness as she looked once more at Mimime, her body now decaying. They had tried to burry it but between no proper place to bury and the need of the pack to find food... "My old pack..." suddenly said Taisra, "used to burry bodies in the ocean." "How do you remember that?" asked Strawberry, surprised. "I don't know," said Taisra, "It just came to me all the sudden." Maybe her memories about life before she was encased in ice are returning. "Well, it's a good thing in my book!" Strawberry encouraged. She looked back at her sister's body as they moved with the cubs, we don't have the strength or time to drag her all the way to the ocean. "I...don't know what to do." Strawberry sadly admitted, "if we burry her, we put the pack in peril." "We must protect her cubs and honor her memory," said Taisra, "it is what Mimime would've wanted that. We can't do anything for her burial now. She wouldn't want us to die trying." Strawberry realized Taisra was right. "I'm proud of you," she told Taisra, "for helping me make this tough decision." Taisra nodded. Sadness was still in the eyes of both of them as they began walking with the cubs. Progress was slow as they tried to herd them and nudge them along. Somewhere, Dukkirta and Stalker were busy hunting. A couple days passed this way. The pack was starting to go hungry, and so some members had to be constantly hunting. One day, suddenly the eldest cub darted away from the others, after a rabbit. Sianami pounced at it clumsily while running, and ended up falling on her face and missing the rabbit. Strawberry walked over to her with soft eyes. "You'll get it next time if you train and listen to your older packmates." Sianami had tears in her eyes, but nodded. "Go back to your siblings and Taisra now," ordered Strawberry, "I'll bring back a rabbit for dinner." Strawberry smiled as the Sianami bounded back and started wrestling with one of her siblings, Taisra closely observing to be sure nobody got hurt.

  3. Forgivness Month 7 Run had never felt so happy in her life, and immediately she wanted to forgive others too. As she went about her rabbit hunt she finally forgave Strawberry for Fang's death. She forgave Mimime too, and the creature that had bit him. Because she now realized Strawberry's story had probably been true. She also forgave herself for how she had acted that day and the days before she left the pack. But then she came to the twisted-snout male. Her heart darkened as she thought of him. She couldn't forgive him...and she certainly couldn't forgive herself for what she had done to her own cubs. Vergwe may have forgiven her, and also Duktapri, the cubs themselves may have forgotten what transpired on that day...but one day themselves would understand the gravity of it and be angry with her. Maybe she thought that if she forgave herself that she was saying what she did really wasn't that bad, but in reality if it wasn't wrong she wouldn't have to forgive. Maybe she wanted to be haunted by it, punished by it, maybe she wanted to suffer. She barely noticed the movement beside her, but she turned quickly, fear rising up in her. Before she could think her reflexes caused her to scratch in a panicked flurry. What have I done? for a moment she saw one of her sons sitting there, but when she blinked he was gone. An injured rabbit in his place. Immediately, she felt relieved. But she was still unnerved. As she put the poor creature out its misery, she remembered that Duktapri had talked about something like this before. Visions he had called them...said they were sent by Vergwe and often revealed important things. Had what she had seen been a warning? Was she going to have to throw herself into the ocean after all? She brought the meat back to Duktapri and her sons. Duktapri immediately knew something was off, "What's wrong?" he asked. "I...had a vision," Run said cautiously. Duktapri immediately knew to send the cubs away, "Go play," he told them, and the two boys who were now big enough to not have to worry about birds scampered away to play together. They walked back up and sat down to talk near a permanent nest. "Tell me what happened." "Well...I was thinking of how I had nearly murdered my cubs again, and all the sudden I saw movement next to em and freaked out. I scratched at it thinking it may be a threat, but I saw my son sitting there wounded by me. Then, when I blinked I saw it was only a rabbit," recounted Run. "You do know Vergwe has forgiven you for the horrible thing you tried to do, and what resulted from it. So have I," said Duktapri. "Yes I know, but I can't forgive myself. What if it happens again?" Run asked, eyes wide. "By holding onto your anger against yourself, you make it more likely to happen again. That is what the vision means," said Duktapri convincingly. "So it doesn't mean it will happen again?" asked Run hopefully. "Not necessarily. But if you keep holding onto your guilt and fear it might," Duktapri counseled. Run nodded, "Thanks for helping me decipher it." "It's what I do," said Duktapri simply. "I have something else on my mind," Run said after a minute. "Tell me," said Duktapri. "I want to go see my adoptive mother Strawberry and forgive her in person, and allow her to forgive me in person," Run announced. "That is a great idea," said Duktapri happily. Run knew he wouldn't be so happy with what she was about to say, "I don't want her to know about what...what I almost did." "Here comes your own unforgiveness again!" Duktapri warned. "No," said Run, "it's not about me feeling insecure about it! It's about me wanting us to be able to forgive the past and have a relationship after that." "Relationships built on a false pretense are not healthy ones," mused Duktapri. "But she loves cubs just as much as you, and isn't as forgiving. She doesn't know about Vergwe nor would it change her mind. She would probably disown me. I'm not going all the way back to get disowned!" Run insisted. "I won't tell her against your wishes," Duktapri said, "but I advise you to tell her. It would be a mistake to build your new trust on a lie." "Not everyone walks around telling their deepest darkest secrets," Run teased. "The world would be a better place if they did," Duktapri said.

  5. Oh, I forgot to mention, since I've retired over 300 critters, it would be awesome to have a way to filter them by gene and gender. It's a touch inconvenient to search them manually for the recessive trait I suddenly decided I want.

  9. Quick thing I noticed - sometimes when sending out my nichelings for a mission, immediately after the biome pops up the game scrolls through all my nichelings very fast and then even further, until there are none displayed. Also, I have also had the issue of the game crashing randomly.

  12. basically i'm gonna do a normal storymode playthrough b u t if y'all have ideas for challenges/ways to torture me i'm required to do them for however long is reasonable. you could literally say 'move islands with three nichelings' while i'm trying to stockpile and get better creatures and only have the descendants of rogues. yes i know that's oddly specific. leave me alone. by the way, i haven't forgotten about my challenge playthrough, and i mayyyy go back to it, but i'm not sure yet. for now, enjoy my pain!

  17. The First Clan Meeting Moon 1 (technically moon 2 but I'm playing through the first few days as just that storywise) “All cats old enough to catch your own prey, gather…” Fernstar hesitated, where should the cats gather with no camp yet established? “around me, for a clan meeting!” Turtlemist, who had been sitting next to her, padded away to the back of the group. Lightwatcher slipped in through the reeds, apparently he had been sleeping on the beach. The look of jealousy and scorn he gave her told her she shouldn’t make him deputy. She didn’t want to have an unloyal deputy she couldn’t trust. Being so close to power...what if he killed her so he could be leader? Of course, Mountain Clan cats were known for their strict following of the warrior code, so cold-blooded murder just for power wasn’t likely. But the survival of a new clan may depend on the bending or breaking of the code. Fernstar wasn’t eager to do so, but she was going to protect what remained of their once mighty five clans no matter what. What if, because of that, Lightwatcher got the idea in his head that it would be better for him to lead the clan strictly by the book, no matter how he came to power? Fernstar realized she had been staring and turned away. It was best to pick the obvious choice, “Redfish, I appoint you deputy of Remnant Clan.” Redfish dipped his head, “I am honored.” Fernstar looked at him quizzically for a moment. He had the chance to be leader, why didn’t he take it? But it didn’t matter now. They must move on into the future. “It is undeniable we need more warriors. And if we are to grow this clan, we will need more potential queens,” she looked at her group of all male warriors. “Sunshine,” she called, “come forward.” Lightwatcher’s swishing tail was the only sign of his displeasure. The bright yellow she-cat shyly walked to the front. “You have already shown the brave and sacrificial spirit of a warrior in saving a total stranger at the risk of your own life. But joining a clan is a great commitment. Do you vow to uphold the warrior code, and protect your clan, even with your life?” asked Fernstar. “I do,” said Sunshine. “From this day forward, you will be known as Shiningsun,” announced Fernstar. She didn’t change the name much, because it fit her. But it had to be changed so that she realized she was a warrior now. Shiningsun held her head high. Redfish looked at her quizzically for a moment, and she figured he must be thinking, why didn’t you change her name fully? But soon he turned away and congratulated Shiningsun. Turtlemist also congratulated her. Even Lightwatcher did with no hint of malice. But Rootclaw was less enthusiastic, noted Fernstar. “I know you all want to celebrate,” said Fernstar, “but we must get to work. I have heard many of you say that this would be a suitable site for camp. Why do you believe this is so and do you think we could find a better spot?” Redfish and Lightwatcher told why they thought this was a good camp spot. Turtlemist voiced some good things about it but some concerns as well. The other two didn’t say much. In the end, they all decided that they would look around a bit for another site, and if they didn’t find one they would set up camp here shortly. “Lightwatcher and Rootclaw, go on hunting patrol together,” They were the only ones with sharp and well-trained claws other than Redfish, who had been assigned the task of looking for another camp spot. “Can’t I go with Redfish or stay here and guard camp?” asked Lightwatcher. “What, are you afraid of being out-hunted by a Savanna Clan cat?” Rootclaw teased. “No,” hissed Lightwatcher, he then looked at the ground. “For now,” said Fernstar, trying to keep emotion out of her voice, “you two are probably the best hunters." Fernstar saw worry flicker through Lightwatcher’s eyes. "And Shiningsun will go with you.” She added the she-cat to the group in the hopes that she could keep the peace between the two. “Go now,” said Fernstar, “we don’t have much food.” Rootclaw and Shiningsun dipped their heads and Lightwatcher stiffly nodded, then the three raced off into the reeds and grasses.
