  2. (IT'S TIME FOR THE PLOT WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR EVERYONE! Enjoy the like 2,000 word update I had so much fun writing it-) - Blossompaw was eating a rabill at the edge of the clearing when the sound of pawsteps caught her attention, causing her to look up from her meal and see the deputy approaching. Speckleheart went from a trot to an idle walk as he got closer to the quilled nicheling. “Is something wrong?” Blossompaw asked as she stood to her paws making Speckleheart quickly shake his head. “No nothing’s wrong! I was just wondering if you wanted to chat” Blossompaw slightly tilted her head in curiosity at the deputy’s question. “I mean sure?” She said as she tried to figure out if there was a reason beyond a casual chat for something like this but Speckleheart’s voice broke her out of her thoughts. “What’s your territory like? Is it different from ours?” The deputy asked with a friendly smile. “Not really? I mean there’s more stumps but that’s about the only difference I’ve noticed” Blossompaw said after considering the question. “Is there anything interesting about your territory that I haven’t noticed?” She sent a question right back at Speckleheart making him think. “Well I mean maybe you’ve noticed but we don’t really clear away that much grass, only what’s needed because it can provide good cover from things like those birds” Speckleheart gestured his paws towards the things he was talking about which caught Blossompaw’s attention. “You gesture with your paws a lot” It was an idle observation but it seemed Speckleheart didn’t take it that way as his paws stilled before he put them back on the ground with a nervous laugh. “Yeah it’s a bit silly huh?” He said it in joking way but the way he darted his eyes towards the side proved it was a bit of a soft spot to him. “No I didn’t mean it like that!” Blossompaw rushed to clarify as she realized how it might’ve come off. “I was just saying, I mean I pace a lot to think better” She tried to explain and it seemed to ease the deputy’s worries as his ears came back up from the lowered position they took after her observation. “I guess I have seen you pace quite a bit” Speckleheart said with a sense of relief, no one judged him for his habit but his emotions tried to tell him that they secretly did even if it wasn’t logical. “Exactly! But you were saying something about not really clearing the grasses? I think?” Blossompaw tried to recall if that was the last topic of conversation. “Oh right! Yeah it’s good cover from birds but it can be good to deal with bearyena too, they can’t attack you as easily if they can’t see you” Speckleheart continued and the two spent some time chatting about WhisperClan’s territory. The sunrise had come. It had been a few sunrises so Blossompaw got the go-ahead which meant it was time to fight the bearyena that were prowling WildClan’s home. WhisperClan camp was buzzing with energy as everyone prepared for the upcoming battle, well almost everyone. It was decided that Flamepaw and Mudvine were staying with Sunkit to make sure the kit wouldn’t get hurt or be unsupervised while the battle was fought. “I can’t believe it’s time for you guys to leave already” Lightstream said through a bundle of herbs, her and Mudvine had spent the night making many herb bundles so herbs would be on-paw when the clan nicheling’s battled the bearyena, though Lightstream would be going as well to have a medicine nicheling ready for any potential injuries. “Already?” TwigStar said with confusion as he glanced at the medicine nicheling. “We’ve been here far too long” He said as he went back to helping the medicine nicheling carry herbs. “I guess it would be for you, but for me I feel your clan has only been here a few sunrises” Lightstream said causing TwigStar to simply let out a hum of acknowledgment. Lightstream glanced at TwigStar out of the corner of her eye whenever he wasn’t looking as she tried to figure out what to do. Her words were truly how she felt but there was further reason. In the WildClan nichelings time here she had found them all to be interesting but TwigStar was the one she found herself drawn to the most. Something about the way he always tried to be formal and composed was almost…cute to her. It was obvious that he wasn’t very experienced in the whole leadership thing but he was obviously trying and you’d have to be blind to miss how much he cares for his clanmates, doing whatever he can to keep them safe and healthy at any cost. “We’re here” TwigStar’s voice snapped Lightstream out of her head and she felt a bit of warmth in her pelt at the fact she was lost in her daydreams at a time like this. Speckleheart, Sparrowtuft, Sandstripe. and GoldenStar looked over at the two approaching nichelings with mixed expressions. GoldenStar and Speckleheart’s expressions were warm and welcoming while Sparrowtuft looked like he wanted to make them vanish on the spot. Lightstream wished Sparrowtuft would give the WildClan nichelings a chance but she also knew he was trying to look out for his clanmates in his own way. Seeing Speckleheart made her nervous though, not due to he himself but because of a dream she had the night before. ‘Gold will dull and a heart will be speckled with blood’ Was what a nicheling said, though she couldn’t recognize the nicheling in her dream as any ancestor that she knew. The nicheling’s sandy fur and darker brown mane reminded her of no nicheling she had ever known or been told about which made her question the idea of it being a vision. Surely if it was a vision one of her ancestors would’ve been the one to deliver it. That doesn’t stop her stomach from twisting at the idea of Speckleheart getting hurt, he’s a good deputy and amazing friend to all his clanmates. Shaking herself out of her thoughts, she instead focused on listening to the battle plan because while she may not be fighting it would be good to know what to expect. It was chaos. Crowshade felt almost dizzy from everything going on as she tried her best to focus on fighting a single bearyena at once, turning around and sticking her quills up just in time for a bearyena to try and bite her, leaving the beast with a face full of spines instead. !!!BLOOD WARNING!!! She took the chance to run around and jump on its back before biting it in the back of the throat, tasting the tang of blood on her tongue as the beast thrashed in an attempt to shake her off but her jaws held tight as another nicheling jumped up to help. The bearyena quickly succumbed from two nichelings going after its throat. !!!END OF BLOOD WARNING!!! The nicheling was obvious now as she saw the light yellow fur with dark brown spots. “Thanks” Crowshade said to Speckleheart before focusing on a different bearyena which TwigStar seemed to be trying to fight alone as Speckleheart went to help a different nicheling. Speckleheart couldn’t help Crowshade once he noticed Blossompaw trying to take on a bearyena with no help so he changed his course to help the bristling pink nicheling. Blossompaw’s head whipped over to a sound of pawsteps but she refocused on fighting when she realized it was just Speckleheart. The two took turns nipping at the bearyena then jumping back to prevent any injuries. But while trying to jump back Blossompaw stumbled after being startled by the bearyena’s attempt to bite at her and the bearyena quickly went to take a bite at the fallen nicheling. !!!BLOOD WARNING AND WHILE NO GORE IS MENTIONED THERE IS A DEATH!!! Speckleheart felt time almost freeze as he saw the bearyena and he did the first thing that came to mind. He jumped in front of Blossompaw, leaving himself open to the bearyena’s jaws which ended up letting the bearyena bite into the deputy’s side. A sickening snap caught the attention of the other nichelings, which had chased away all the other bearyena. The bearyena rose to its paws with Speckleheart’s now limp body hanging from its jaws. !!!END OF WARNING!!! “HOW DARE YOU!” Sparrowtuft snarled as he launched himself at the bearyena. Instead of fighting the bearyena turned around and ran into the grasses, because of fear or because it had a meal the nichelings had no clue but now all the bearyena were gone leaving a mostly silent clearing. Without the battle frenzy the clan nichelings took more stock of their surroundings and all the WhisperClan nichelings suddenly ran over to Lightstream. GoldenStar was laying on the ground lifeless. “She’s going to be on her last life now…” Lightstream said, she tried her best but she couldn’t do anything to prevent the leader from losing her second-to-last life so now the WhisperClan leader would have a single life left. Sparrowtuft suddenly spun on his paws to snarl at the WildClan nichelings. “This is your fault!” The WildClan nichelings tensed at Sparrowtuft’s words as the WhisperClan nicheling stalked toward them with hostility radiating off him. “If we didn’t help your pathetic clan GoldenStar would have 2 lives and Speckleheart would be alive!” Blossompaw bristled though Crowshade’s quills stood up as Sparrowtuft spoke. “Sparrowtuft please-” Lightstream’s attempts to deescalate the situation were ignored as the enraged WhisperClan nicheling continued. “NO! These three have brought nothing but trouble and misery to WhisperClan, if we got rid of them we’d be free of these problems” Sparrowtuft said as he stalked closer to them causing even TwigStar to tense in preparation for a fight but Sandstripe stepped between the WildClan nichelings and her clanmate, “And then Speckleheart would’ve died for nothing” The words froze Sparrowtuft in his tracks. “If you killed the nichelings he died to protect than what would be the point?” Sandstripe’s words made Sparrowtuft bared his teeth and squeeze his eyes shut before he let out a sigh. His eyes opened once more but instead of anger they were filled with sadness. “He didn’t deserve to die” Sparrowtuft’s words wavered in a way the WildClan nichelings thought was impossible. TwigStar felt a twinge of sympathy despite the other nicheling’s harsh attitude, he could see how Sparrowtuft wasn’t as heartless as his mind had convinced him he would be. Sparrowtuft cared for his clanmates, and TwigStar realized there might be more similarities between him and Sparrowtuft than he thought, “I know” Sandstripe couldn’t offer anything to make everything better after something like this so she didn’t try. “He deserved to become SpeckleStar and now he’ll never have that chance” Sparrowtuft’s voice was extremely unstable and his eyes were rimmed with water that he tried to blink away but that only let a tear roll down his cheek. Sandstripe walked forward and rested her head on his shoulder causing him to sob and bury his head in the sandy nicheling’s shoulder while the rest of WhisperClan looked on with sadness. Crowshade felt fairly uncomfortable at such a strong show of emotions, not only did she not really know how to deal with crying from her clanmates but the fact the nicheling was both outside her clan and one that had previously insulted her clan and clanmates made it worse so she just shifted uncomfortably on her paws. The other two weren’t too much better as TwigStar stood very stiffly and awkwardly while Blossompaw had averted her eyes to her paws instead. After a little bit Sparrowtuft seemed to realize the WildClan nichelings were there and dried his eyes with a paw before turning around and walking over to Lightstream. “We should get GoldenStar back home before she wakes up” His voice was a bit wobbly still as he spoke. “Probably, could you help me carry her?” Lightstream offered as a way for him to help and as a distraction which Sparrowtuft easily took with a nod. The two worked together to lift up their leader before walking in the direction of their camp. “We’ll be okay” Sandstripe lagged behind her clanmates to speak to the WildClan nichelings before stalking off into the grass herself, leaving the three sitting there a bit awkwardly. “We have a lot of work to do” TwigStar said with a sigh after some silence as he took stock of the camp. Grass was scattered everywhere, the dens were completely destroyed, the herbs had to have gone bad by now, the prey pile was filled with rotting rabills, and moss from the nests were covering the camp like a storm had come through.
