Yeah they really shouldn't be fighting but alas they are having problems- Especially considering the fact they're arguing like right before a gathering too1 point

“Where is mom and Nightshade going?” Dust asked as she watched the two walk into the grass. “Your mom is just spending some time with Nightshade” Mulch replied with a glance towards the rustling grass left in their wake. “Can’t she do that here?” Dust asked with a tilt of her head. “We wanted to each spend time with just one of you pups alone” Mulch explained as he smiled at Dust but she just seemed more perplexed. “Why?” Dust asked another question as she slid her gaze over to her dad’s face. “Because we wanted to form deeper bonds with each of you pups” Mulch answered with an idle stretch. “Why?” Mulch struggled for a response for yet another ‘why’ question as his pup asked it. His line of thought screeched to a halt as the shriek of a bird rang out from the skies causing him to look around before spotting the offending bird flying too close for his liking. “Oof!” Dust let out a noise as Mulch tugged the pup against him before looking at him with confusion. “Why’d you do that?!” Mulch quickly shushed the pup as his eyes never left the sky. “That’s a bird, they’re dangerous” He explained as he kept his eyes trained on the bird with laser focus. “Why?” Dust asked the question once more as she didn’t understand, it was loud sure but is that enough to be scary? “...They take unattended pups” Dust’s eyes widened as she looked at her dad upon hearing his words “Why don’t you fight it to scare it away?” Dust asked as she felt it wouldn’t be that hard. “First of all they can fly and I can’t” Mulch spoke with a sense of unease at the fact the bird was circling the sky above him and his pup “And something dangerous could grab you if I’m busy fighting” he continued while continuing to hold Dust against his side. “Mom will protect Nightshade right?” Mulch froze as Dust’s words sunk in at the realization that those two were somewhere else. “Yeah, of course she will” Despite the fear he felt he wanted to make sure Dust didn’t panic. “We should see if we can find them though” Mulch said before grabbing Dust by the scruff, making her squirm before resigning herself to her fate, and walking in the direction the two went. “Well I could go back and see if they’re there” Bandit offered as Fern stood over a sleeping Nightshade. “Maybe that would be the best solution” Fern agreed as she looked vaguely in the direction her mate and other pup would be. “In that case I’ll return shortly” Bandit said before standing to her paws and walking towards the kingdom’s current spot. “I’m sure they’re fine” Silver’s words snapped Fern out of her thoughts as she looked at him “Mulch seems like he’d fight an army to keep his pups safe so I’m not too worried” he said in an attempt to reassure Fern, who closed her eyes and took a deep breath before forcing herself to relax. “You’re right, he’d never let something happen to her” Fern repeated to try and soothe herself. “Yeah” Silver simply said before looking around idly. An awkward and tense silence fell between the two as they found no topics to discuss nor any real common ground. The two respected each other and did care to an extent but they weren’t exactly friends either, more like friendly acquaintances. Fern felt guilt worm its way into her as she realized that they probably wouldn’t have split up if she hadn’t proposed the idea of separately bonding with their pups. Maybe then she wouldn’t have to worry for their safety like this. She did have another reason for this though, she gives benefit of the doubt since the pups are so young but she’s a bit concerned at how possessive Dust is over anything she deems as hers. She wanted to start with some light lessons in being a royal to see how Nightshade reacted to the idea but now she was just terrified at the idea of that bird taking one of her pups. “I found ‘em” Bandit’s voice caused all three nicheling’s heads to turn in the direction of the sound in time to see Bandit, Mulch, and Dust appear out of the grass. “Oh thank goodness” Fern let out a sigh of relief before rushing over to Dust, checking her over for any signs of injury or stress. “Mom!” Dust said as she used a paw to try and push her away making Fern smile at the unshaken reaction of her pup. “Alright, Alright, just making sure you’re okay little one” Fern said as she took a step back to give her pup some space. Nightshade rushed over to his sister with obvious curiosity. “What?” Dust asked upon seeing the look in her brother’s eyes. “Did you see it?” Nightshade asked making Dust’s face morph into one of confusion. “See what?” She asked making Nightshade point toward the sky. “The bird?” Nightshade nodded as his sister’s question making her let out an ‘oh’. “Yeah, didn’t you?” Dust asked as she looked around and noticed no signs of the bird anymore. Nightshade shook his head causing Dust to tilt her head and ask “How?”. “Sleeping” Nightshade answered only to flinch back as Dust barked out a laugh. “How did you sleep through that thing’s awful noises? I felt like my ears were bleeding!” Nightshade’s fact soured at his sister’s words but he just stuck his tongue at her causing her to do the same. “I’m just happy you two are alright” Fern spoke with the four adult nicheling grouped together, though constant glances were thrown the pups way as nerves bit at all of them. “As soon as I heard the screech I pulled Dust close to me so the bird would reconsider” Mulch said as he looked at Dust for a few moments before returning his attention to the conversation once more. “Good thinking, those things don’t hesitate if a pup is left alone for even a moment” Bandit scanned the skies for a sign of the bird in unease at the idea of it returning. Silver tuned out of the conversation as he mindlessly stared at the clouds drifting by. He was terrified of the pups getting hurt at the moment but now that there wasn’t even a hint of the bird’s presence he felt as if he could rest easy. His mind drifted from the current moment into other thoughts as he considered how he felt about this whole kingdom thing. He was originally a wandering healer who helped those he came across on his travels but then a nicheling came to see him. This nicheling, who turned out to be the ruling queen of the Kingdom of the Woods, offered him a place in the kingdom where he would be protected and well fed if he offered them his healing skills. He only accepted because the stability sounded nice but he intended on heading out on his lonesome at a later point. At least…until he met a certain nicheling. “Silver” The voice of Mulch cut through his thoughts and he flinched back at being suddenly snapped into the present. “Oh uh, what is it?” Silver stumbled a bit over his words as he regained his bearings. “You seemed a bit…zoned out” Mulch spoke as he waved his paw. “Yeah, I kinda was, sorry” Silver said with a nervous laugh as he realized it had been obvious. “We were asking if there was any herbs to try and dissuade birds” Bandit filled in the blanks. “Not really? Herbs aren’t really good for dissuading birds considering how high up they usually fly” Silver shook his head. “Well it was worth a shot” Bandit replied as she scanned the skies once more. “We should go back home, Dust is getting cranky” Fern said as she pointed out the pup, who was currently grumbling at her brother to ‘let her sleep in peace’. “You’re right, have fun getting Nightshade to sleep” Silver gave an amused grin and Fern sighed as she realized that it would be a pain considering he just slept. “Thanks” Fern said with sarcasm dripping from her voice as she went over and grabbed Nightshade by the scruff while Mulch grabbed the much more fussy Dust by the scruff. The group turned around and walked back towards their current spot.1 point

hey guys trip update I arrived at the place and honestly it’s not as middle of nowherey as I thought it would be from how my parents talked about it its more of a proper organised campsite with like. A restaurant and bathroom and other stuff. Genuinely thought we’d just be roughing it because nobody told me what it would be like probably won’t get to post much though because the wifi only reaches one tiny area and dad won’t be happy if I was just at the wifi spot at all times1 point

Omg my wifi actually started working I want to go home :[ Anyways so, extra context before a story time: the original plan was mom and the toddlers in a tiny cabin and everyone else in a tent but tiny cabin is bigger than we thought it would be so we’re all in it it’s still really cramped though, at least we’re moving into a bigger one on day 4 so my mom propped an inflatable mattress against the wall next to my bed and it was nice because I finally got some privacy so I was calling it the Birb Hole in my head But of course I can’t have nice things so my toddler sister (now aged 3) pushed it and it collapsed on top of me. She started pushing it around and jumping an I was getting crushed under there while yelling to get my mom to have her stop doing that (toddler was laughing hysterically this whole time btw) and I had my headphones in but couldn’t get my phone to pause the music I had on because i was fighting for my life anyways no more Birb Hole and I hate toddlers. Pov; you are birb (top 10 photos taken seconds before disaster)0 points

“Is there a reason you’re following me around?” TwigStar finally spoke his mind after being uncomfortably aware of the fact that Sap had been trailing after him for long enough to put a sense of unease into his chest. “Sorry!” Sap quickly exclaimed only further putting TwigStar on edge at the volume “I wanted to help you but you’ve just been walking around” Sap elaborated as he realized the leader wanted an explanation. “Well if you wanna help than come with me to patrol the border” TwigStar caved though most of the reason was as a way to assess how much of a threat Sap could be to the other members of WildClan. “Alright lead the way!” Sap said with a bubbly smile that only served to add onto the leader’s unease but TwigStar said nothing as he began to lead the newest member of the clan to the territory’s border. - “You must be vigilant when patrolling the borders, even a moment of being careless could create an opening for something or someone dangerous” TwigStar gave instructions to the newest member of the clan as they walked along the border of the territory. Sap listened with rapt interest as he walked side by side with the leader. “And make sure to either scratch something like a rock, or rub your cheek against something solid to leave a mark that tells others that this is WildClan territory” TwigStar rubbed his cheek against a rock to demonstrate. “Oh! Like this?” Sap went to do the same on a different rock but TwigStar put a paw in front of his face causing him to pause. “Don’t do that yet, you haven’t been in WildClan long enough to have our scent” TwigStar put his paw back onto the ground as he looked at the other nicheling. “Oh, okay” Sap said a little dejected at not being able to help. “We’ve still got a good chunk of the border to patrol” TwigStar said with a twitch of his tail to indicate the other nicheling to follow. “Okay!” Sap felt a bit better at the idea of finishing the patrol. TwigStar stopped after walking in silence for some time. “We also have to continually rip out grass if it starts to grow too long so the territory is more well defined” He said as he ripped some grass out from the edge of the territory. Sap hesitated as he watched considering he wasn’t allowed to help with the last task. TwigStar paused as he noticed Sap wasn’t helping, causing him to glance over and see the way the other nicheling looked hesitant. “You can help with this” As if reading Sap’s mind TwigStar spoke causing Sap’s ears to shoot up in surprise. “Oh okay!” Sap said with his earlier dejected mood seeming to have vanished at the idea of helping. The two spent some time silently pulling up bundles of grass until the border was clear once more. TwigStar stepped back to admire his and Sap’s work. “Looks good” The assessment made Sap stop and step back as well with a smile as that was the first time the leader had given him anything but distrust and suspicion. “We patrol the borders at least twice, at sunrise and sundown” TwigStar said as he glanced at Sap who was staring at him with all his focus. “There can be more if we think there’s a threat in the area though” TwigStar looked away from the other nicheling’s stare to instead sniff the air. “We also have at least one nicheling up while the others sleep so any danger doesn’t take us off guard” The leader spoke as he felt his unease slightly lift at the lack of dangerous or unknown scents. Sap just nodded along to show he was listening and not interrupt the leader’s explanation. “Are you any good at hunting?” Sap was a bit surprised by the question at first before thinking about it. “Not really…” He admitted sheepishly “but I’m good at digging!” he rushed to say as he waved his left paw. TwigStar gave an idle hum as he inspected the other nicheling’s paw for a time that made Sap a little concerned. “Do you know anything about herbs?” TwigStar asked. “Oh, I know some basic stuff so if I got hurt I didn’t die” Sap answered with a tilt of his head. “Hmm” TwigStar mentally weighed his options. The clan needs a medicine nicheling, Crowshade was obviously sick of the role that was supposed to be temporary, but did he want to put a nicheling he didn’t trust in charge of his wounds? Or would it be better for Crowshade to deal with her role for longer to ensure that Sap was a good choice? “Nevermind” TwigStar decided the risk of Sap being able to harm or poison him or his clanmates when injured was far too strong of a risk for him to take considering the clan just got back to its paws. “Okay?” Sap had questions but didn’t want to push his luck as he saw the leader start walking. “We’re going back to camp, we’ve covered the whole border” TwigStar said as he continued walking. “Okay” Sap said as he walked side by side with the leader again. Blossomstorm blinked in surprise as her eyes opened to a familiar environment. Twisted, leafless trees towered over her and everything looked slightly off as usual. She looked around but was confused as nothing seemed to be about. Then the sound of a soft pawstep caught her attention and she quickly turned and swiped at the direction just in time to slash A familiar nicheling across the nose. “Spottedfrost?!” She said in a shocked tone as said nicheling wiped his nose with his paw before looking at the bloodied paw. “You’ve gotten even stronger in such a short time!” Spottedfrost barked out a laugh as he smiled at Blossomstorm. “I thought you abandoned me or something” Blossomstorm tried to play it off as a joke but it really wasn’t. It had been almost two moons since she’d last seen her ‘mentor’ in her dreams. “Of course not, I was just busy” Spottedfrost couldn’t stop an undertone of annoyance from slipping into his tone. “Busy? With what?” Blossomstorm asked and Spottedfrost at first only let out an ‘ah’ as he realized that of course she would be curious. “Well being dead should equate constant relaxation but a certain nicheling definitely gives me some grief” Spottedfrost’s ear twitched in annoyance as he remembered how much LocustStar tried to scold him for being ‘too attached’ to his apprentice. ‘You’re going soft’ and ‘That’s only for the weak’ and on and on. “Guess even when you’re dead some nichelings still find a reason to complain” Blossomstorm said in understanding, the best comparison she had was her former mentor Tigerthorn. “Tell me about it” Spottedfrost scoffed though his expression softened from the annoyance he had moments before. “I got my warrior name!” Blossomstorm suddenly exclaimed before realizing that he would probably know already if he can see what goes on. “Really now? And what is it?” Spottedfrost asked genuinely curious. “Blossomstorm!” Blossomstorm responded before speaking again “But I though you saw what’s going on inside the clan?” she spoke with a curious tone. Spottedfrost felt a prickle of unease as he wondered if she had noticed that he wasn’t a StarClan nicheling. “Well remember that nicheling I was complaining about? He was complaining so much I simply didn’t have time” He said, it wasn’t a lie because LocustStar had honestly been hounding him almost all the time. “Wouldn’t he run out of things to complain about?” Blossomstorm asked feeling a mild headache just from the thought of dealing with a nicheling like that. “You would think! But no unfortunately not” Spottedfrost rubbed his face with his paw. “Anyways” Spottedfrost wanted to move on from the topic of LocustStar “why don’t we train, see if your skills are still sharp” he said as he got himself into position. “Alright!” Blossomstorm said as she prepared herself, having been itching for training from her mentor, or former mentor since she was a warrior? A few sunrises later the clan was startled by the sound of rustling before a bright shape darted into camp. The nichelings of the clan tensed before noticing what, or rather who, it was. “Sandstripe?” TwigStar said with narrowed eyes as he tried to figure out why the WhisperClan nicheling was here. “Hi TwigStar” Sandstripe greeted before moving on “GoldenStar wanted me to remind you about the gathering, it’s gonna be a full moon this moonhigh” TwigStar’s eyes shot opened as he suddenly remembered his agreement with GoldenStar. “Of course, when exactly are we meeting and where?” TwigStar asked to make sure he got everything right. “We’re meeting at moonhigh and you know that spot on the left outside your territory with those two rocks?” Sandstripe waited until TwigStar nodded to continue “we’re meeting there because GoldenStar said it was best to meet on neutral ground so we’ll all be less tense” she finished delivering the message she needed to. “Alright, me and my clan will be there” TwigStar agreed making Sandstripe nod before something caught her attention. “Who’s that?” Sandstripe’s focus was trained on Sap as she looked between the new nicheling and TwigStar, baffled at the idea of the defensive leader letting a stranger into his tiny clan. “Sap, I will explain more at the gathering” TwigStar cordially shot down any more questioning from the WhisperClan nicheling. Sandstripe got the hint “Alright, see you all later!” she said before turning around and running into the grass, presumably back to her own clan. “Gathering? Is that a clan thing?” Sap asked with his eyes practically sparkling at meeting more clan nichelings. “It is now, it’s part of an agreement we made with WhisperClan” TwigStar explained making Sap more curious. “An agreement?” He asked but the warning glare TwigStar sent him made him reconsider. But then TwigStar sighed as he realized he was being too harsh again. “WhisperClan harbored our clan when we had been attacked by a group of bearyena” He said making Sap perk up again. “They must be nice then!” Sap smiled while the other WildClan nichelings expressions became muddled. “Most of them” Crowshade’s snout scrunched in annoyance, starting Sap as the nicheling hadn’t talked to him except to give him her name. “Most of them?” Sap repeated with a tilt of his head. “Sparrowtuft is part of WhisperClan and I’m pretty sure he hates our guts” Blossomstorm filled in after realizing he would have no clue who that is. “Why?” Sap asked, sure TwigStar was a bit…finicky and Crowshade was kind of cold but hatred seems to be a bit much. “He doesn’t trust us” Crowshade simply answered as that seemed to be the long and short of it. “Oh” Sap was tempted to ask more but decided against it. “We should be careful of what we say, if it goes badly it could cause a war” TwigStar felt nerves prickle his pelt at the mere idea of a fight. “But GoldenStar seems like the least likely nicheling to start a fight” Blossomstorm said with confusion. “Maybe, but Sparrowtuft would, and maybe he could convince GoldenStar if he worded it right” The three other members of WildClan shared concerned glances at the leader’s words. “Um, maybe we could chat before the gathering?” Blossomstorm tried to see if she could convince him to tell her exactly what the root of the issue is but he shook his head. “I should prepare for the gathering” TwigStar said as he turned around and went to his den. “I should try to talk to him” Blossomstorm took a step before a voice stopped her. “I don’t think that’d be a good idea” Crowshade said making Blossomstorm turn her head towards her. “He might lash out considering how antsy he seems at the moment” Crowshade’s words only added to Blossomstorm’s worry. “But it wouldn’t be good for him to go to the gathering like this, and besides-” Blossomstorm saw Sap staring and paused. “No offense but could we talk in private?” Blossomstorm gave Sap a smile to show she wasn’t trying to get rid of him. “Oh sure, I’ll see if I can hunt anything” Sap got the hint and turned around to go hunting. It was only once the two were sure Sap was out of earshot that they continued. “It might not be but I don’t want you to cry because he said something hurtful” Crowshade’s nose scrunched in agitation at TwigStar’s behavior lately with the paranoia and irritability. “I know he doesn’t mean it though” Blossomstorm reasoned but Crowshade shook her head. “Just because he’s stressed doesn’t mean he should treat his clanmates like that!” Blossomstorm was taken off guard by Crowshade raising her volume. “Well I don’t hate him, he’s my brother in everything but blood at this point!” Blossomstorm didn’t realize the raise in volume as she felt frustration rise in her, she didn’t want to argue with Crowshade but she couldn’t entirely agree with what she said. “Family can be just as cruel as strangers, just because you see him as family doesn’t mean you should tolerate his temper” Crowshade let out a low rumble at Blossomstorm’s refusal to listen. “I’ve known him my entire life, he’s all I have left of my kithood anymore!” Blossomstorm argued with bared teeth. “Well that may be true but he can’t just act like this and get no consequences!” Crowshade rebutted as her fur bristled. “Not to mention that he’s the leader! Even if I by some chance didn’t like him, which would be a lie, he has five whole lives” Blossomstorm said with a bitter laugh. “I don’t think he deserves it” Those words wiped the bitter smile off of Blossomstorm’s face. “What” Blossomstorm’s tone made it obvious she heard but was warning Crowshade against saying it again. “He doesn’t seem fit to lead anymore in my opinion” Crowshade stared into Blossomstorm’s eyes without a hint of hesitation. Blossomshade bared her teeth as she felt her claws unsheath. But despite her mind telling her to swipe at her she simply screwed her eyes shut with a breath in. “He deserves that title” Blossomstorm spat as she turned on her paws to go hunting in an attempt to cool off. Crowshade scowled at her retreating figure before rubbing her head with a paw. She didn’t understand, couldn’t Blossomstorm see that TwigStar wasn’t in the best state to lead anymore?0 points
