Got a big update today! - The clan had barely settled into their usual routines are returning from the gathered when the sound of grass rustling caught everyone’s attention. The four nichelings of the clan stood alert as they stared at the rustling grass before a nicheling’s head poked out. Sap’s tense posture instantly vanished as he ran over to the nicheling. “ROSE!” He exclaimed with a beaming smile as he skidded to a stop in front of the imposing nicheling. “Sap! I have amazing news” The red nicheling spoke as she stepped out of the grass completely which made the other nichelings realize exactly how huge she was, towering over Sap easily. “Who is this?” TwigStar kept his gaze locked onto ‘Rose’ despite the fact the question was directed toward Sap. “That’s Rose, we were mates before I joined the clan” Sap explained easily as he turned towards the approaching TwigStar. “Were?” Rose asked seeming a bit heartbroken which made Sap’s ears lower. “Well I didn’t want us to be mates if I never really saw you, y’know?” He said with a quiet tone as his actions started to really sink in. “Could we be mates again than?” Rose asked with hopeful eyes which Sap perked up at. “Well yeah!” He paused as he saw TwigStar’s expression “Can’t she do something to uh ‘prove’ herself? She’s a good nicheling I promise” Sap reassured with a mildly nervous smile. TwigStar’s cold stare seemed to pierce Rose’s soul in a way that made her uneasy. “Fine, hunt at least two rabills than you could join on a trial run” Rose winced at TwigStar’s request before piping up. “About that I kind of can’t at the moment” Rose said with a sheepish smile making TwigStar look at her with suspicion “Why?” he simply asked. “The news I was going to share with Sap is that I’m pregnant, and due soon” Rose explained making TwigStar’s eyes widen. “I…suppose you can stay for now, but you better not run off as soon as your kits can walk” TwigStar sighed, he wasn’t cruel enough to run off a pregnant nicheling. “Oh thank you! I promise I’ll help as soon as I can” Rose ran over to make sure TwigStar heard her, feeling a wave of relief wash over her at the idea of having a secure and permanent residence to raise her future kits. “But I’d prefer if you followed our naming conventions when they’re born” TwigStar tried very hard to ignore the tenseness that rose in him at the realization of exactly how huge Rose was, she had to be a head taller than him and either fluffier or bulkier than him. “Naming conventions?” Rose took a few steps back as she realized how tense he looked. “Kits have kit at the end of their name, apprentices have paw at the end, and warrior names are two things though star is only for leaders” Seeing the puzzled expression on Rose’s face he decided to continue explaining “A kit could be called Cloudkit, an apprentice Cloudpaw, and as a warrior something like Cloudrun” Rose gave an ‘oh’ noise as she got the gist. “I wouldn’t have a problem with that” Rose said with a nod of agreement. “Now Sap didn’t but when loners join they usually get something added to their name to make it a warrior name” TwigStar explained and Rose’s eyes widened in intrigue. “I want a name like that” Rose said, thinking it sounded interesting. “Well then follow me to the Tall Rock” TwigStar beckoned Rose with his tail as he turned around. TwigStar climbed onto the rock, minding his paws so he didn’t slip and make a fool of himself, before turning and staring directly at the potential newest member of the clan. “Rose do you promise to uphold the warrior code and protect the clan even at the cost of your life” He did nothing to soften the words as he wanted Rose to know exactly what she was getting into. Rose blinked in shock at the gravity of those words but brushed them off as fancy yet useless words for a ceremony. “Yes” TwigStar was a bit thrown off by the incorrect words but quickly ignored it as he realized that she would have no clue what the correct words were. “Then by the power of StarClan you will be known as Rosecurrent” He just went off her general personality, from what tiny bit he currently knew of it, but it seemed to be a good choice as Rose, now Rosecurrent, beamed as the other members repeated her new name. “Now you have a warrior name” TwigStar said after hopping down from the rock. “That’s perfect! It-” Rosecurrent suddenly winced heavily in a way that made TwigStar’s ears raise in alarm. “Pregnancy pains” Rosecurrent said as she noticed the concerned looks of the nicheling’s around her. “You should lay in the medicine den” Crowshade spoke as she approached Rosecurrent. “Lead the way” Rosecurrent said as she would heavily appreciate the chance to rest. It was only once Rosecurrent was out of earshot that TwigStar spoke. “You had a mate before joining the clan?” Sap shrunk a little under TwigStar’s scrutiny. “Well yeah” He mumbled just loud enough for the leader to hear. “Seems kinda cold” Blossomstorm piped up at the idea of Sap leaving his mate to run off and join a clan. Sap winced but didn’t deny her words either “I guess it is” he refused to make eye contact as he spoke “but at least we’re mates again and we get to be in the same clan!” he tried to add some optimism to the conversation. “Do you have any of friends, family, or anything else that we should know about?” TwigStar asked with narrow eyes, disliking the fact Sap kept this information a secret as TwigStar’s budding trust of Sap was snipped before it could even bloom. “My family is on a completely different island and I don’t have any friends on this one so no, promise!” Sap said as he saw the distrust gather in the leader’s eyes, not wanting to lose the small bit of trust he gained by helping the clan. “Fine, but if I find out you’re lying you’ll never and I mean NEVER touch a single paw onto this territory ever again” TwigStar warned as he decided to tentatively believe him for now. “There’s no one else I promise” Sap tried to reassure with a smile. “I should patrol the border, I’ll return soon” TwigStar suddenly turned on his paws before walking towards the edge of the territory. “Bye!” Blossomstorm said as he walked off. “Oh- okay” Sap said a bit shocked at the sudden exit. TwigStar also used the border patrol as an excuse as he snuck off to meet with Lightstream, knowing he wouldn’t get any information at first. He’d have to be friendly or else he would just scare her off. Though if he was too friendly it’d look bad too. “I’m kinda surprised we found each other considering we never really specified where to meet” Lightstream said with a mildly nervous laugh. “Yeah, I was wondering how we’d meet if we had no clue where to go” TwigStar forced himself to not this of how he was alone with a nicheling from the other clan and instead tried to hold a normal conversation. “What’s your favorite prey?” Lightstream laughed and TwigStar felt embarrassment burn in his pelt as he realized that was a very basic question. “Sorry! I just never expected such a simple question from you” Lightstream apologized after noticing the way he tensed up “my favorite prey is actually razorina” TwigStar looked at her with complete confusion. “Razorina?” Now it was Lightstream’s turn to be confused at TwigStar’s words. “You don’t know what razorina are?” She asked just to make sure she wasn’t missing something. “They’re a bigger and tougher to hunt type of fish, they’re red with lots of spines you have to be careful of when fishing them up” Lightstream explained after TwigStar nodded at her previous question. “Interesting, my clan usually just eats rabills” TwigStar said as he pictured the razorina in his mind. “Don’t you ever get bored of eating the same thing?” Lightstream asked, hating the idea herself. “No, it keeps my clan fed and that’s all that really matters to me” TwigStar easily answered making Lightstream give of a hum of acknowledgement. “I guess that makes sense” Lightstream said as she thought about it. “Why don’t we talk about you? For example what’s your family like?” TwigStar winced at the question as memories of his deceased family were dragged to the forefront of his mind. “They’re dead” TwigStar decided to pull no punches as there was no reason to lie. “Oh, sorry!” Lightstream’s eyes flew open as she realized that was an insensitive question especially considering he never spoke of family. “It’s fine, just don’t ask further” TwigStar decided to let it go though it was still a sore spot for him. “I like hunting” TwigStar decided to give a small piece of information about himself to keep the conversation from completely snuffing out. “What makes it fun for you?” Lightstream latched onto a less awkward thread of conversation immediately to try and wave away the previous topic. “It gives me time to be alone and think without worrying too much about my duties as leader of the clan” TwigStar replied as he considered hunting to be the most relaxing thing he really does anymore, usually focusing on his work too much to enjoy anything anymore. Lightstream thought hard before voicing her thoughts. “Maybe assigning a deputy would take some weight off your shoulders, I mean you said you had a choice right?” Lightstream watched TwigStar’s expression as he thought about it. “You’re probably right, I should have some time to do the ceremony next sunhigh” TwigStar sighed as he realized he had put it off for far too long at this point “I’ll get that done” he nodded at Lightstream making a smile break her previously concerned expression. “I’d love to see you a little more relaxed” Lightstream said as she felt having another nicheling bear the weight would let the leader rest more. “I should get going” The sudden words took Lightstream off guard but she noticed TwigStar looking at the sky causing her to give it a glance as well. “Oh, it’s going to be sundown soon” Lightstream said both nicheling’s thoughts out loud. “I have to get back to the clan before they have suspicions” TwigStar said as he stood to his paws. “You’re right, see you” Lightstream said as she stood up as well to see TwigStar already leaving though he did give a small ‘goodbye’ before leaving. TwigStar came back to a surprising scene in camp. Every nicheling of the clan was gathered by or inside the medicine den and it raised both curiosity and alarm in the leader as he made his way towards it. The nichelings of the clan parted to make way for the leader to see inside. Instead of an injury like he had feared TwigStar came across the scene of a kit he’d never seen before drawing random shapes into the dirt of the den. Crowshade was sorting herbs and seemed completely fine with the fact that this kit was inside one of the most important places of the clan. “Where did that kit come from” TwigStar’s voice caused Crowshade to look up from the herbs she was sorting to glance towards the leader. “The kit was covered in mud and starving so I brought her here to get some food and clean up” The temporary medicine nicheling spoke without any hesitation as she felt it would be cruel to potentially leave a kit to die alone. “Are you sure the kit doesn’t have any parents or someone waiting?” TwigStar did feel sympathy but didn’t want to risk this being some messed up sort of bait to lure them into a false sense of security. “Considering she didn’t have any scent and was STARVING i heavily doubt it, or if she did they probably weren’t the best anyways” Crowshade put emphasis on the word starving as she felt this level of distrust was completely unnecessary. “What’s your name kit?” TwigStar asked as he looked over at the kit who didn’t respond, completely focused on the random assortment of lines she was drawing. “Kit” The kit’s attention snapped towards the leader. “Oh hello! I’m making something” The kit said as she pointed a paw towards her drawing. “That’s…great” TwigStar refused to be snippy towards a kit even if he was concerned for his clan’s safety. “But what’s your name?” He asked again making the kit let out a surprised noise. “Oh my parents didn’t give me one” The kit spoke making TwigStar’s eyes shoot open at the calm way the kit admitted that. Crowshade gave TwigStar a ‘see?’ type of look and he realized this probably wasn’t an elaborate trap. “Well what do you think of the name Sharpkit?” TwigStar asked making the kit’s face sour. “Ew, that’s an evil name, I don’t want that” TwigStar sighed but then thought some more. The kit seemed creative so maybe something of that nature would be better. He thought hard to find something fitting for the kit’s demeanor but struggled. “What about Vibrantkit?” Rosecurrent suggested making the kit gasp and jump to her paws. “THAT! THAT ONE!” The group collectively winced at the volume but TwigStar spoke first. “Vibrantkit it is” He agreed making the newly named Vibrantkit squeal in excitement as she giggled. “Yeah!” She beamed before sitting down again. “I’m gonna draw” She said seeming to have moved on to something else now. TwigStar stared in disbelief before letting out an amused chuckle. “Guess we have another new member” He remarked as he realized how much the clan had grown since just the gathering, it felt more like an actual clan than a few ragged members.1 point

Hello! I was busy all day today because we were out on a hike and I’m exhausted now Look at the kingfisher pin I got! 2 seconds of footage I took at the watchtower at the highest point, right before my phone died. It was sunny for most of the journey but it got cloudy when we were at the top of the mountain IMG_4242.MOV1 point

Uhhh I wanna share my Planet Zoo plans! I think I’ll remake the chimpanzee area for mandrills instead (I would have baboons if we had them in this game!) . The chimps could be moved to the “Forests Around the World” section I’m planning. And also I want to remake the Elephant house. The old-style building honestly doesn’t fit in and it looks really out of place compared to the rest of the zoo. I’ll save the old one as a blueprint and make a new building more similiar to the savannah house that I was making before I left. After the African section I’ll start work on the tropical house because I have an amazing idea for that (and a whole list of animals that I’ll include)1 point

Definitely mod support, as then specific features could be added by the community. It would be amazing to see some big changes to how the game works for example having two split groups with split food on the same island to show the idea of competing niches. Multiplayer with the split groups would be fantastic. You could compete to see who’s nichelings are able to to survive given different survival strategies while trying to occupy the same niche. Another idea is having a “pathway” for mutations eg. Having a big body mutate from a medium body but not from a lean body, which more closely mimics real life evolution where it is gradual.1 point
