I'd say leave the island asap. Then you should be able to find more food. The guide I linked also gives a lot of helpful tips, including collecting food. -

I'd say stay on tiny green (3rd island) and stockpile food if I were you. That way you can travel a great distance without worrying about food

I mean I get up at 5 am. Though I'm also in one of the timezones closest to Euorpean time. Most activity is definitely going to happen when your asleep.
